The arrogance of race prejudice is an arrogance which defies what is scientifically known of human races. ~ Ruth Benedict
Race Prejudice quotes by Ruth Benedict
We beg you to save young America from the blight of race prejudice. Do not bind the children within the narrow circles of your own lives. ~ Charles Hamilton Houston
Race Prejudice quotes by Charles Hamilton Houston
Race prejudice is contrary to every known principle of Christianity; that there is not to be found anywhere in the religion of Jesus Christ anything upon which it can stand, anything upon which it can be justified, or even extenuated. ~ Francis Grimke
Race Prejudice quotes by Francis Grimke
The straitjackets of race prejudice and discrimination do not wear only southern labels. The subtle, psychological technique of the North has approached in its ugliness and victimization of the Negro the outright terror and open brutality of the South. ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.
Race Prejudice quotes by Martin Luther King, Jr.
the real thing behind the way folks feel is simply race prejudice - and I don't say I'm blaming those that hold it. ~ H.P. Lovecraft
Race Prejudice quotes by H.P. Lovecraft
Race prejudice is an evil that the church of God ought to grapple with. It ought not to sit quietly down in the midst of it, and do nothing. Its very silence, its lack of effort, its non-interference with, to put it in its mildest form, would be misinterpreted, would be construed as approving of it, or, at least, as not disapproving of it. The church of God can do something. ~ Francis Grimke
Race Prejudice quotes by Francis Grimke
From the very first, it has been the educated and intelligent of the Negro people that have led and elevated the mass, and the sole obstacles that nullified and retarded their efforts were slavery and race prejudice; for what is slavery but the legalized survival of the unfit and the nullification of the work of natural internal leadership? ~ W.E.B. Du Bois
Race Prejudice quotes by W.E.B. Du Bois
Race prejudice is a gift of nature, intended to preserve in purity the various divisions of mankind which the ages have evolved. ~ H.P. Lovecraft
Race Prejudice quotes by H.P. Lovecraft
I have found that the happiest people are those who do the most for others; the most miserable are those who do the least. I have also found that few things, if any, are capable of making one so blind and narrow as race prejudice. ~ Booker T. Washington
Race Prejudice quotes by Booker T. Washington
The parallel between antifeminism and race prejudice is striking. The same underlying motives appear to be at work, namely fear, jealousy, feelings of insecurity, fear of economic competition, guilt feelings, and the like. Many of the leaders of the feminist movement in the nineteenth-century United States clearly understood the similarity of the motives at work in antifeminism and race discrimination and associated themselves with the anti slavery movement. ~ Ashley Montagu
Race Prejudice quotes by Ashley Montagu
Not so easy to put flesh and blood on the bones of an intellectual conviction; Martha was remembering with shame the brash and easy way she had said to Joss that she repudiated race prejudice; for the fact was, she could not remember a time when she had not thought of people in terms of groups, nations, or colour of skin first, and as people afterwards. ~ Doris Lessing
Race Prejudice quotes by Doris Lessing
I pity from the bottom of my heart any individual who is so unfortunate as to get into the habit of holding race prejudice. ~ Booker T. Washington
Race Prejudice quotes by Booker T. Washington
In my contact with people I find that, as a rule, it is only the little, narrow people who live for themselves, who never read good books, who do not travel, who never open up their souls in a way to permit them to come into contact with other souls -- with the great outside world. No man whose vision is bounded by colour can come into contact with what is highest and best in the world. In meeting men, in many places, I have found that the happiest people are those who do the most for others; the most miserable are those who do the least. I have also found that few things, if any, are capable of making one so blind and narrow as race prejudice. I often say to our students, in the course of my talks to them on Sunday evenings in the chapel, that the longer I live and the more experience I have of the world, the more I am convinced that, after all, the one thing that is most worth living for -- and dying for, if need be -- is the opportunity of making some one else more happy and more useful. ~ Booker T. Washington
Race Prejudice quotes by Booker T. Washington
There was no need to discuss racial prejudice. Hadn't we all, black and white, just snatched the remaining Jews from the hell of concentration camps? Race prejudice was dead. A mistake made by a young country. Something to be forgiven as an unpleasant act committed by an intoxicated friend. ~ Maya Angelou
Race Prejudice quotes by Maya Angelou
Having judged, condemned, abandoned his cultural forms, his language, his food habits, his sexual behavior, his way of sitting down, of resting, of laughing, of enjoying himself, the oppressed flings himself upon the imposed culture with the desperation of a drowning man.
Developing his technical knowledge in contact with more and more perfected machines, entering into the dynamic circuit of industrial production, meeting men from remote regions in the framework of the concentration of capital, that is to say, on the job, discovering the assembly line, the team, production time, in other words yield per hour, the oppressed is shocked to find that he continues to be the object of racism and contempt.

It is at this level that racism is treated as a question of persons.

There are a few hopeless racists, but you must admit that on the whole the population likes….

With time all this will disappear.

This is the country where there is the least amount of race prejudice.

At the United Nations there is a commission to fight race prejudice.

Films on race prejudice, poems on race prejudice, messages on race prejudice.

Spectacular and futile condemnations of race prejudice. In reality, a colonial country is a racist country. If in England, in Belgium, or in France, despite the democratic principles affirmed by these respective nations, there are still racists, it is these racists who, in their opp ~ Frantz Fanon
Race Prejudice quotes by Frantz Fanon
That it should still be necessary, at this late stage in the senility of the human race to argue that women have a fine and fluent intelligence is surely an eloquent proof of the defective observation, incurable prejudice, and general imbecility of their lords and masters. ~ H.L. Mencken
Race Prejudice quotes by H.L. Mencken
Seeing their children touched and seared and wounded by race prejudice is one of the heaviest crosses which colored women have to bear. ~ Mary Church Terrell
Race Prejudice quotes by Mary Church Terrell
Race prejudice can't be talked down, it must be lived down. ~ Francis J. Grimke
Race Prejudice quotes by Francis J. Grimke
The time has come, it seems to me, when Christian men and women all over the world, should begin to look this evil (race prejudice) squarely in the face, and to set themselves earnestly to combat it, to deal with it as Christian men and women ought to deal with it; as Jesus Christ would have it dealt with. ~ Francis Grimke
Race Prejudice quotes by Francis Grimke
Race prejudice decreases values, both real estate and human. ~ W.E.B. Du Bois
Race Prejudice quotes by W.E.B. Du Bois
Race prejudice is not only a shadow over the colored - it is a shadow over all of us, and the shadow is darkest over those who feel it least and allow its evil effects to go on. ~ Pearl S. Buck
Race Prejudice quotes by Pearl S. Buck
Pride of race is the antidote to prejudice. ~ Arturo Alfonso Schomburg
Race Prejudice quotes by Arturo Alfonso Schomburg
I still think that if the human race, or even one nation, could only get right about its God the rest would follow. ~ Laurence Housman
Race Prejudice quotes by Laurence Housman
That is what the Slave Trade was all about. Not death from poxes and musketry and whippings and malnutrition and melancholy and suicide: death itself. For before the white men came to Guinea to strip-mine field hands ... black people did not die ... the decedent ... took up residence in an afterworld that was in many ways indistinguishable from his former estate. ~ David Bradley
Race Prejudice quotes by David Bradley
For the ordinary man, whose mind is a checkerboard of crisscrossing reflections, opinions, and prejudices, bare attention is virtually impossible; his life is thus centered not in reality itself but in his ideas of it. By focusing the mind wholly on each objects and every action, zazen strips it of extraneous thoughts and allows us to enter into a full rapport with life. ~ Philip Kapleau
Race Prejudice quotes by Philip Kapleau
In the end, science offers us the only way out of politics. And if we allow science to become politicized, then we are lost. We will enter the Internet version of the dark ages, an era of shifting fears and wild prejudices, transmitted to people who don't know any better. ~ Michael Crichton
Race Prejudice quotes by Michael Crichton
Weight issues, race issues will always be there and if you allow them to get to you and you allow them to affect you then yes they affect you. But my thing is I have so many other things to worry about I can't worry about other people's perception of me. ~ Octavia Spencer
Race Prejudice quotes by Octavia Spencer
Clean Up Let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. HEBREWS 12:1- 2 NIV Have you ever gone on a cleaning rampage to straighten up your home or office? Did you enjoy pitching junk, straightening objects, and organizing materials so that you could find them when you need them? You may need to get on a Holy Ghost rampage and do the same thing with your life. Say, I've had enough bondage. I've had enough negative thoughts. I've had enough of the lies of the devil. I am not going to have any more bad days. I am not going to be discouraged, depressed, or despondent. I am going to enjoy my life! ~ Joyce Meyer
Race Prejudice quotes by Joyce Meyer
Nowledge which ... transcends the bounds, the prejudices and prejudgements of any one society and culture is not an illusion but, on the contrary, a glorious and luminous reality. Just how it was achieved remains subject to debate. ~ Ernest Gellner
Race Prejudice quotes by Ernest Gellner
It's a harrowing experience to see death approaching in haste towards you, what is hell but confronting your own mortality ~ Bangambiki Habyarimana
Race Prejudice quotes by Bangambiki Habyarimana
I doubt if Mrs. Wiggins ever appeared more truly heroic than at that moment. Ordinarily the most peace-loving of a peace-loving race, when she had pledged herself to a cause which she thought right she was capable of taking a firm stand even in the face of the most determined opposition. Few other cows, I am certain, would have cared to address that angry mob. Fortunately, she was able to address them and be heard, for Bertram was for the moment engaged with the four animals who had run upstairs to attack him. ~ Walter R. Brooks
Race Prejudice quotes by Walter R. Brooks
Sharpe is my favorite role of all that I've played. He's a very complex character. He knows that he's a good soldier, but he will always have to fight the prejudice of aristocratic officers because of his rough working-class upbringing. On the battlefield, he's full of confidence - but off it, he is unsure, a bit shy and ill at ease. ~ Sean Bean
Race Prejudice quotes by Sean Bean
Physics is an otherworld thing, it requires a taste for things unseen, even unheard of- a high degree of abstraction ... These faculties die off somehow when you grow up ... profound curiosity happens when children are young. I think physicists are the Peter Pans of the human race ... Once you are sophisticated, you know too much- far too much. Pauli once said to me, "I know a great deal. I know too much. I am a quantum ancient.". ~ Isidor Isaac Rabi
Race Prejudice quotes by Isidor Isaac Rabi
My whole drive is to make sure that music is a common space where we search for beauty and share it. It needs to be louder than any conversation. That's where we have to go as a human race. ~ Abigail Washburn
Race Prejudice quotes by Abigail Washburn
The world sees color, children only see love. ~ Matshona Dhliwayo
Race Prejudice quotes by Matshona Dhliwayo
Love Has No Color ... No Race ... Love Is Pure And Divine But Only A Little of Us Are Able To Preserve It's Purity ... Sadly, In This Digital World, Purity Is Rare To Find In Human ... ~ Muhammad Imran Hasan
Race Prejudice quotes by Muhammad Imran Hasan
Conversely, the red plant itself burns a brighter red when set off by the green than when it grows among its peers. In the bed I always reserved for poinsettia seedlings, there was little to distinguish one plant from its neighbours. My poinsettia did not turn scarlet until I planted it in new surroundings. Colour is not something one has, colour is bestowed on one by others. ~ Arthur Japin
Race Prejudice quotes by Arthur Japin
Whether this propensity be one of those original principles in human nature of which no further account can be given; or whether, as seems more probable, it be the necessary consequence of the faculties of reason and speech, it belongs not to our present subject to inquire. It is common to all men, and to be found in no other race of animals, which seem to know neither this nor any other species of contracts. Two greyhounds, in running down the same hare, have sometimes the appearance of acting in some sort of concert. Each turns her towards his companion, or endeavours to intercept her when his companion turns her towards himself. This, however, is not the effect of any contract, but of the accidental concurrence of their passions in the same object at that particular time. Nobody ever saw a dog make a fair and deliberate exchange of one bone for another with another dog. Nobody ever saw one animal by its gestures and natural cries signify to another, this is mine, that yours; I am willing to give this for that. When an animal wants to obtain something either of a man or of another animal, it has no other means of persuasion but to gain the favour of those whose service it requires. A puppy fawns upon its dam, and a spaniel endeavours by a thousand attractions to engage the attention of its master who is at dinner, when it wants to be fed by him. Man sometimes uses the same arts with his brethren, and when he has no other means of engaging them to act according to his inclin ~ Adam Smith
Race Prejudice quotes by Adam Smith
Eh, brother, but nature has to be corrected and guided, otherwise we'd all drown in prejudices. Without that there wouldn't be even a single great man. ~ Fyodor Dostoyevsky
Race Prejudice quotes by Fyodor Dostoyevsky
My name is Renee. I am 54 years old. For 27 years I have been the concierge at number 7, rue de Grenelle. . . I live alone with my cat, a big lazy tom who has no distinguishing features other than the fact that his paws smell bad wh...en he is annoyed. Neither he nor I make any effor tto take part in the social doings of our respective species. Because I am rarely friendly- though always polite- I am not liked, but am tolerated nonetheless: I correspond so very well to what social prejudice has collectively construed to be a typical French concierge that I am one of the multiple cogs that make the great universal illusion turn, the illusion according to which life has a meaning that can be easily deciphered. And since it has been written somewhere that concierges are old, ugly, and sour, so has it been branded in fiery letters on the pediment of that same imbecilic firmament that the aforementioned concierges have rather large dither cats who sleep all day on cushions covered with crocheted cases. ~ Muriel Barbery
Race Prejudice quotes by Muriel Barbery
The best therapy for emotional blocks to math is the realization that the human race took centuries or millennia to see through the mist of difficulties and paradoxes which instructors now invite us to solve in a few minutes. ~ Lancelot Hogben
Race Prejudice quotes by Lancelot Hogben
America rejects bigotry. We reject every act of hatred against people of Arab background or Muslim faith America values and welcomes peaceful people of all faiths - Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Sikh, Hindu and many others. Every faith is practiced and protected here, because we are one country. Every immigrant can be fully and equally American because we're one country. Race and color should not divide us, because America is one country. ~ George W. Bush
Race Prejudice quotes by George W. Bush
Maddi glared at him. "Thats why your not built like Alden. French fries." Race laughed. "Id love to look like Alden. Hot female speakers would be falling all over themselves to be paired up with me, just like they did whith Alden when Rose...Lenzi was gone. You should've seen it, Lenzi. It was halarious." My insides gave a jealous churn. ~ Mary Lindsey
Race Prejudice quotes by Mary Lindsey
I think Americans are wonderful film actors - the best in the world - but they are a very contemporary race and they look forward all the time. ~ Julian Fellowes
Race Prejudice quotes by Julian Fellowes
Instead of trying to educate the human race, they should imitate the pedagogues of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, who concentrated their efforts on the education of a single person. ~ Georg Brandes
Race Prejudice quotes by Georg Brandes
After all, it's pretty hard to be prejudiced against blacks and gays when you're a-okay with Klingons and the Green Men of Mars. ~ Lou Anders
Race Prejudice quotes by Lou Anders
Habit is a good thing for the human race ... You have to spend so much energy just getting through the day when you have no habits that you don't have any left for productive labor. ~ Marilyn French
Race Prejudice quotes by Marilyn French
Of the seven butchers who interest us, four are Tatars and three are Yids. They're at the top of the list of suspects. But, to avoid any reproaches of prejudice, I'm arresting the lot. And I'll give them a thorough working over. I ~ Boris Akunin
Race Prejudice quotes by Boris Akunin
Do you really believe ... that everything historians tell us about men – or about women – is actually true? You ought to consider the fact that these histories have been written by men, who never tell the truth except by accident. ~ Moderata Fonte
Race Prejudice quotes by Moderata Fonte
In the course of a long experience of the human race, I have learned that you can never make them understand anything, unless you rub it in. ~ T.H. White
Race Prejudice quotes by T.H. White
It is an old trick. The playgoer who does not like dirty plays is denounced as a prude; the music-lover who resents cacophony is told he is a pedant; and in all these matters the final crushing blow administered to the man of discrimination is the ascription to him of a hidebound prejudice against things that are new because they are new. ~ Royal Cortissoz
Race Prejudice quotes by Royal Cortissoz
No person in history has provoked as much study, criticism, prejudice, or devotion as Jesus of Nazareth. ~ R.C. Sproul
Race Prejudice quotes by R.C. Sproul
Think only of the past as its remembrance gives you pleasure. ~ Seth Grahame-Smith
Race Prejudice quotes by Seth Grahame-Smith
There seems to be a vicious cycle at work here, making ours not just an economy but a culture of extreme inequality. Corporate decision makers, and even some two-bit entrepreneurs like my boss at The Maids, occupy an economic position miles above that of the underpaid people whose labor they depend on. For reasons that have more to do with class - and often racial - prejudice than with actual experience, they tend to fear and distrust the category of people from which they recruit their workers. Hence the perceived need for repressive management and intrusive measures like drug and personality testing. But these things cost money - $20,000 or more a year for a manager, $100 a pop for a drug test, and so on - and the high cost of repression results in ever more pressure to hold wages down. The larger society seems to be caught up in a similar cycle: cutting public services for the poor, which are sometimes referred to collectively as the 'social wage,' while investing ever more heavily in prisons and cops. And in the larger society, too, the cost of repression becomes another factor weighing against the expansion or restoration of needed services. It is a tragic cycle, condemning us to ever deeper inequality, and in the long run, almost no one benefits but the agents of repression themselves. ~ Barbara Ehrenreich
Race Prejudice quotes by Barbara Ehrenreich
Race always comes up in the conversation of Detroit. ~ Julie Mehretu
Race Prejudice quotes by Julie Mehretu
I felt leap within me pride that I was colored; and I began to form wild dreams of bringing glory and honor to the Negro race. ~ James Weldon Johnson
Race Prejudice quotes by James Weldon Johnson
The longest time that man may live,
The lapse of generations of his race,
The continent entire of time itself,
Bears not proportion to Eternity;
Huge as a fraction of a grain of dew
Co-measured with the broad, unbounded ocean!
There is the time of man
his proper time,
Looking at which this life is but a gust,
A puff of breath, that's scarcely felt ere gone! ~ James Sheridan Knowles
Race Prejudice quotes by James Sheridan Knowles
If you know the history of the whole concept of whiteness if you know the history of the whole concept of the white race, where it came from and for what reason you know that it was a trick, and it's worked brilliantly. You see, prior to the mid to late 1600s, in the colonies of what would become the United States, there was no such thing as the white race. Those of us of European descent did not refer to ourselves by that term really ever before then. ~ Tim Wise
Race Prejudice quotes by Tim Wise
Religion is to the human race as the appendix is to the human body. At one time it was useful, but now it is nothing more than a detriment, and one that can kill in short order. ~ Al Stefanelli
Race Prejudice quotes by Al Stefanelli
For the most part we stupidly confound one man with another. The dull distinguish only races or nations, or at most classes, but the wise man, individuals. ~ Henry David Thoreau
Race Prejudice quotes by Henry David Thoreau
How far they came to perish here, these soldiers and these machines! What bizarre train of events brought youngsters from the Rhineland and Prussia, from the Scottish Highlands and London, from Australia and New Zealand, to butt at each other to the death with flame-spitting machinery in faraway Africa, in a setting as dry and lonesome as the moon?

But that is the hallmark of this war. No other war has ever been like it. This war rings the world.... Men fight as far from home as they can be transported, with courage and endurance that makes one proud of the human race, in horrible contrivances that make one ashamed of the human race. ~ Herman Wouk
Race Prejudice quotes by Herman Wouk
