The restless spirit never loses its wings. If sometimes it cannot fly, it is because during those moments the sky vanishes. ~ R.N. Prasher
R N C quotes by R.N. Prasher
I remembered what it is I like about sex: what I like about sex is that I can lose myself in it entirely. Sex, in fact, is the most absorbing activity I have discovered in adulthood. When I was a child I used to feel this way about all sorts of things - Legos, The Jungle Book, The Hardy Boys, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Saturday morning cartoons ... I could forget where I was, the time of day, who I was with. Sex is the only thing I've found like that as a grown-up, give or take the odd film: books are no longer like that once you're out of your teens, and I've certainly never found it in my work. All the horrible pre-sex self-consciousness drains out of me, and I forget where I am, the time of day ... and yes, I forget who I'm with, for the time being. ~ Nick Hornby
R N C quotes by Nick Hornby
When we lose the world, we find ourselves. When we lose ourselves, we find God. When we lose God, we find liberation. The trick is to learn to lose. ~ R.N. Prasher
R N C quotes by R.N. Prasher
Whether morality is moral is an open question. ~ R.N. Prasher
R N C quotes by R.N. Prasher
What name shall we give it which hath no name, the common eternal matter of the mind? If we were to call it essence, some might think it meant perfume, or gold, or honey. It is not even mind. It is not even discussible, groupable into words; it is not even endless, in fact it is not even mysterious or inscrutably inexplicable; it is what is; it is that; it is this. We could easily call the golden eternity "This." But "what's in a name?" asked Shakespeare. The golden eternity by another name would be as sweet. A Tathagata, a God, a Buddha by
another name, an Allah, a Sri Krishna, a Coyote, a Brahma, a Mazda, a Messiah, an Amida, an Aremedeia, a Maitreya, a Palalakonuh, 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 would be as sweet. The golden eternity is X, the golden eternity is A, the golden eternity is /, the golden eternity is O, the golden eternity is [ ], the golden eternity is t-h-e-g-o-l-d-e-n-e-t-e-r-n-i-t-y. In the beginning was the word; before the beginning, in the beginningless infinite neverendingness, was the essence. Both the word "god" and the essence of the word, are emptiness. The form of emptiness which is emptiness having taken the form of form, is what you see and hear and feel right now, and what you taste and smell and think as you read this. Wait awhile, close your eyes, let your breathing stop three seconds or so, listen to the inside silence in the womb of the world, let your hands and nerve-ends drop, re-recognize the bliss you forgot, the emptiness and essence and ecstas ~ Jack Kerouac
R N C quotes by Jack Kerouac
I am willing to contribute for a grand tombstone for Political Correctness (PC). This mouthplug has made us cowards, afraid to exercise our freedom of expression. It has stifled frank exchange of ideas and has made debates one-sided and pre-concluded. It has given strength to ideas which cannot defend themselves in an open debate. PC may be acceptable in private space but it is diastrous in public space as it makes that public space an oxymoron by making it restricted to only the "acceptable". Democracy is about competitive ideas and PC is undemocratic as it discounts the possibility of a level playing field. All growth of ideas is through cross fertilisation and PC leads to degeneration of ideas by restricting the process to inbreeding. Only those who use weakness as leverage to gain advantage without effort or have an hidden agenda will root for PC. It is the tool of the lazy and the devious. My offer for its tombstone stands. ~ R.N. Prasher
R N C quotes by R.N. Prasher
In some languages (Hindi is one), every perception is called "seeing". Maybe, the trick is to rely on the eyes less and less as one perceives more and more. ~ R.N. Prasher
R N C quotes by R.N. Prasher
So he was doing the only thing he could do, under the circumstances. Something else. ~ N.C. Reed
R N C quotes by N.C. Reed
Young children have no past. The old have no future. The rest are too busy with present. This time-tripod holds up the world. You ignore the importance of this interdependence of the three, the world as you know it is in danger of collapsing ~ R.N. Prasher
R N C quotes by R.N. Prasher
The Sun would have wasted its life but for the evolution of life on earth. The one who gives should be grateful to the one who receives. ~ R.N. Prasher
R N C quotes by R.N. Prasher
Painting and illustration cannot be mixed - one cannot merge from one into the other. ~ N. C. Wyeth
R N C quotes by N. C. Wyeth
Rod Cockshutt, Professor Emeritus at N.C. State University called my book, Evidence of Insanity, "an extraordinary achievement" and told me to not change the last 10-15 pages no matter what. ~ Carol Piner
R N C quotes by Carol Piner
As long as one can think as an outsider, an observer apart from the conflict, there is hope for a resolving thought. ~ R.N. Prasher
R N C quotes by R.N. Prasher
One-third of our people were dangerously ill, getting worse hourly, and we felt sure of meeting the same fate, with death as our only prospect, which in such a country was much worse yet. ~ Alvar N. C. De Vaca
R N C quotes by Alvar N. C. De Vaca
In this world, only your mind has true freedom and limitless opportunities,
so use it to think, as imaginatively as you can. ~ P.R.N. Mohan
R N C quotes by P.R.N. Mohan
What is knowledge but a lucid enunciation of ignorance of yesterday. If there is no darkness to dispel, there can be no light. ~ R.N. Prasher
R N C quotes by R.N. Prasher
A smile is merely a symptom of the human condition called happiness. Animals are affected by that condition more often though the symptoms are not so obvious. ~ R.N. Prasher
R N C quotes by R.N. Prasher
[WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING? NO, YOU MAY NOT HAVE ACCESS TO MY AMYGDALA. I'M IN CHARGE HERE. NOW TAKE ME BACK TO DR. GODWIN] Damn ~ R.N. Wright

R N C quotes by Alisha
To rule your mind, mind your rules. ~ R.N. Prasher
R N C quotes by R.N. Prasher
We convince ourselves that happiness is an effect; that there has to be cause for it. That makes happiness so dependent on the external environment and makes us a puppet. Happiness without a cause is sui generis, in a class of its own. If we learn the art of being happy without a reason, then we can be happy even when there is a reason to be unhappy. ~ R.N. Prasher
R N C quotes by R.N. Prasher
My favorite show from the '60s was 'Combat.' And maybe 'The Man From U.N.C.L.E.' ~ Stephen Lang
R N C quotes by Stephen Lang
I like misty autumn mornings,
and cold snowy winter nights.
Rainstorms bring me innerpeace,
thunder sets my soul alight.

I care not for summer,
days too long, the heavy heat.
Give me candlelight evenings,
early darkness, a silent street. ~ N.C.
R N C quotes by N.C.
Irrationality is the exclusive preserve of humans as among all creatures only we have the power to rationalise, that being the art of packaging patently irrational as apparently rational. ~ R.N. Prasher
R N C quotes by R.N. Prasher
As a kid in Fayetteville, N.C., I played golf all day, every day, a lot of it by myself. I spent hundreds of hours around the greens at Cape Fear Valley, the course my dad owned, hitting every shot I could think of - the one-hop-and-release, the chip that lands dead, the explosion from a bad lie. ~ Raymond Floyd
R N C quotes by Raymond Floyd
Art was a way of life in my family. My grandfather, N.C. Wyeth, who died a year before I was born, had been a prominent painter. So was my father, Andrew. My two aunts and two of my uncles also earned a living as painters. ~ Jamie Wyeth
R N C quotes by Jamie Wyeth
I tell you if there's anything worse than dealing with a staunch woman... S-T-A-U-N-C-H. There's nothing worse, I'm telling you. They don't weaken, no matter what. ~ Edith Bouvier Beale
R N C quotes by Edith Bouvier Beale
Of all creatures on earth, in proportion to their size and weight, humans have the smallest footprint on the ground and the largest on the environment. ~ R.N. Prasher
R N C quotes by R.N. Prasher
Earth" is not too long an address. It is the parts which make us forget the way. ~ R.N. Prasher
R N C quotes by R.N. Prasher
If we play but not games, all will be well with the world. ~ R.N. Prasher
R N C quotes by R.N. Prasher
I thought of calling this piece "In Memoriam," because "in memoriam" has always suggested a place to me - Memoriam, Oklahoma, say, or Memoriam, Tennessee - and because, to my tinker's brain, "in memoriam," sounds like "in memory am." Which I am, now more than ever. Lost, basically, wandering that ancestral home, all polished wood and anecdote, wishing that I could unload it somehow, knowing I never will. Like it or not, I have an investment in Memoriam now. My father's casket between the potted palms is the cornerstone. Welcome home, kid.

It's an odd, slightly ghostly predicament. Lacking brothers and sisters, aunts and uncles, with my mother's memory having long ago lost any trace of me, I find myself the sole surviving owner of ten thousand names, stories, jokes, associations - that time the raccoon reached up through the knothole in the cabin floor when I was four; those Friday nights when the three of us would watch "The Man from U.N.C.L.E."; that evening, a memorable night in 1966, when my dad, with his professorial air and his Czech accent and his horn-rims, put on my mother's shoulder-length blond wig on a dare and went out to pick up the pizza - that mean nothing, except that they were the soil of our lives. ~ Mark Slouka
R N C quotes by Mark Slouka
The desire that I may have no desire is itself a desire. ~ R.N. Prasher
R N C quotes by R.N. Prasher
You don't need words to talk to HIm. Words are for the priests. He doesn't care for words. He knows only your thoughts and your dreams. ~ R.N. Prasher
R N C quotes by R.N. Prasher
Pleasure and pain are on the same side of the coin of human experience. The opposite is indifference or numbness. ~ R.N. Prasher
R N C quotes by R.N. Prasher
All over the land are vast and handsome pastures, with good grass for cattle, and it strikes me the soil would be very fertile were the country inhabited and improved by reasonable people. ~ Alvar N. C. De Vaca
R N C quotes by Alvar N. C. De Vaca
Years ago R.N.A. was kind of a bit player in the cell. Now our picture's completely inverted, and we think R.N.A.'s really the important thing. ~ Jack W. Szostak
