There is a real and evident problem of democracy in Georgia, and this was the core reason of my entrance into politics. We have no rule of law. It's absolutely absent. ~ Bidzina Ivanishvili

But what a way to do things-never to perform a decent action until you are kicked into it and the rest of the world has ceased to believe that your motives can possibly be honest. ~ George Orwell
Politics Leaders quotes by George Orwell
If virtuous, the government need not fear the fair operation of attack and defense. Nature has given to man no other means of sifting the truth, either in religion, law, or politics. ~ Thomas Jefferson

Politics Leaders quotes by Lysander Spooner
The fact is, presidential politics has become a game of inches. ~ Steven Weber
Politics Leaders quotes by Steven Weber
Despite widespread misconceptions in the United States today that the institution of slavery was based on race, for most of the thousands of years in which slavery existed around the world, it was based on whoever was vulnerable to enslavement and within striking distance. Thus Europeans enslaved other Europeans, just as Asians enslaved other Asians and Africans enslaved other Africans, while Polynesians enslaved other Polynesians and the indigenous peoples of the Western Hemisphere enslaved other indigenous peoples of the Western Hemisphere. The very word "slave" derived from the word for Slavs, who were enslaved by fellow Europeans for centuries before Africans began to be brought in chains to the Western Hemisphere. Africans were not singled out by a race for ownership by Europeans, they were resorted to after the rise of nation-states with armies and navies in other parts of the world which reduced the number of places that could be raided for slaves without great costs and risks. Slave-raiding continued in Africa, primarily by Africans enslaving other Africans and then, in West Africa, selling some of their slaves to whites to take to the Western Hemisphere. Meanwhile, the growing range of ships and the growing wealth of nations eventually made economically feasible the transportation of vast numbers of slaves from one continent to another, creating racial differences between the enslaved and their owners as a dominant pattern in the Western Hemisphere. Such a pattern wa ~ Thomas Sowell
Politics Leaders quotes by Thomas Sowell
There are always advantages to having reached a certain time in one's life. I am most pleased that I did not come to politics until I was thirty, an age when a man finds his peace physically and sexually, and thus can focus all his energies on his actual goals, without his time and steel forever being purloined by the impulses of physical love. ~ Timur Vermes
Politics Leaders quotes by Timur Vermes
Regaring Politics: You've got your cats on one side and your dogs on the other; someone has to walk the fence and feed the animals. - Kinky Friedman ~ Ray Palla
Politics Leaders quotes by Ray Palla
Church leaders raised on rationalism lead ministries where the supernatural, the Vertical, is suppressed and where God Himself is at best an observer and certainly seldom, if ever, and obvious participant in church. ~ James MacDonald
Politics Leaders quotes by James MacDonald
Differences produce conflicts, which may be beneficial to the development of a country if they occur among true patriots, whose only ambition is the happiness of the citizen. ~ Mariama Ba
Politics Leaders quotes by Mariama Ba
Leaders grow; they are not made. ~ Peter Drucker
Politics Leaders quotes by Peter Drucker
Leaders who keep promises and followers who respond in kind create an opportunity generate enormous energy around their commitment to serve others. ~ Max De Pree
Politics Leaders quotes by Max De Pree
Lying," he said out loud, hoping no one would hear. "I need to lie. Teach me, quickly."

I wouldn't if I were you, came the response. For a start, it's a variable concept here. You are in a culture where ambiguity has been raised to a high level. Let me give an example: depending on phrasing, circumstance, expression, body movement, intonation and context, the statement "I love you" can mean I love you; I don't love you; I hate you; I want to have sex with you; I do, in fact, love your sister; I don't love you any more; leave me alone, I'm tired, or I'm sorry I forgot your birthday. The person being talked to would instantly understand the meaning but might choose to attribute an entirely different meaning to the statement. Lying is a social act and the nature and import of the lie depends in effect on an unspoken agreement between the parties concerned. Please note that this description does not even begin to explore the concept of deep lies, in which the speaker simultaneously says something he knows to be untrue and genuinely believes it nonetheless: politicians are particularly adept at this. ~ Iain Pears
Politics Leaders quotes by Iain Pears
Politicians tend to live "in character" and many a public figure has come to imitate the journalism that describes him. ~ Walter Lippmann
Politics Leaders quotes by Walter Lippmann
Politics is a trivial diversion from the business of living. ~ Marty Rubin
Politics Leaders quotes by Marty Rubin
Politics is in my blood. I'd love to be involved in 2008, maybe even '06. ~ Judy Woodruff
Politics Leaders quotes by Judy Woodruff
For the first time in a long time, our leaders in Washington understand what Americans of all religious backgrounds have long held to be true: through faith, all things are possible. ~ John Ashcroft
Politics Leaders quotes by John Ashcroft
World events do not occur by accident. They are made to happen, whether it is to do with national issues or commerce; and most of them are staged and managed by those who hold the purse strings. ~ Denis Healey
Politics Leaders quotes by Denis Healey
It is only the Somalis themselves - and I don't hide that fact when I meet the political leaders here - they themselves have to stop their old practices of fighting each other every time they have a problem. They have to learn how to do peaceful conflict resolution. ~ Jan Egeland
Politics Leaders quotes by Jan Egeland
Just nine lucky soldiers had come through the night, half of them wounded and barely alive. Just nine out of twenty was headed for home, with eleven stories to tell. ~ James Taylor
Politics Leaders quotes by James Taylor
I like Ronald Reagan, who didn't play crass politics, and he just articulated and delivered on broad themes that were needed. Free markets meant free markets. Deregulation. Lower tax rates. Strong national defense. And he was credible and believable. ~ Dave Brat
Politics Leaders quotes by Dave Brat
The highest political buzz word is not liberty, equality, fraternity or solidarity; it is service. ~ Arthur Hugh Clough
Politics Leaders quotes by Arthur Hugh Clough
I realize it's probably best to keep my politics to myself. ~ Shannen Doherty
Politics Leaders quotes by Shannen Doherty
The worst thing is not that the world is unfree, but that people have unlearned their liberty.

The more indifferent people are to politics, to the interests of others, the more obsessed they become with their own faces. The individualism of our time.

Not being able to fall asleep and not allowing oneself to move: the marital bed.

If high culture is coming to an end, it is also the end of you and your paradoxical ideas, because paradox as such belongs to high culture and not to childish prattle. You remind me of the young men who supported the Nazis or communists not out of cowardice or out of opportunism but out of an excess of intelligence. For nothing requires a greater effort of thought than arguments to justify the rule of nonthought… You are the brilliant ally of your own gravediggers.

In the world of highways, a beautiful landscape means: an island of beauty connected by a long line with other islands of beauty.

How to live in a world with which you disagree? How to live with people when you neither share their suffering nor their joys? When you know that you don't belong among them?... our century refuses to acknowledge anyone's right to disagree with the world…All that remains of such a place is the memory, the ideal of a cloister, the dream of a cloister…

Humor can only exist when people are still capable of recognizing some border between the important and the unimportant. And nowadays this border ha ~ Milan Kundera
Politics Leaders quotes by Milan Kundera
God did not make us robots. In spite of the denial by Luther, Calvin, and many evangelical leaders today, God gave man a will to freely choose to love or to hate Him, to receive Christ as Savior and Lord or to reject Him. ~ Dave Hunt
Politics Leaders quotes by Dave Hunt
We must quickly mobilize our civilization with the urgency and resolve that has previously been seen only when nations mobilized for war. These prior struggles for survival were won when leaders found words at the 11th hour that released a mighty surge of courage, hope and readiness to sacrifice for a protracted and mortal challenge. ~ Al Gore
Politics Leaders quotes by Al Gore

Politics Leaders quotes by John Avlon
Unlike many graduate fellowships, the Rhodes seeks leaders who will 'fight the world's fight.' They must be more than mere bookworms. We are looking for students who wonder, students who are reading widely, students of passion who are driven to make a difference in the lives of those around them and in the broader world. ~ Heather Wilson
Politics Leaders quotes by Heather Wilson
People of bad pride always have to have someone to reject. From politics to relationships ... just don't let it be you. ~ Phil Mitchell
Politics Leaders quotes by Phil Mitchell
Six Sigma is a quality program that, when all is said and done, improves your customers' experience, lowers your costs, and builds better leaders. ~ Jack Welch
Politics Leaders quotes by Jack Welch
Some may belittle politics, but we know - who are engaged in it - that it is where people stand tall. And, although I know it has its many harsh contentions, it is still the arena that sets the heart beating a little faster. And if it is, on occasions, the place of low skulduggery, it is more often the place for the pursuit of noble causes. ~ Tony Blair
Politics Leaders quotes by Tony Blair
A dangerous ambition more often lurks behind the specious mask of zeal for the rights of the people than under the forbidden appearance of zeal for the firmness and efficiency of government. History will teach us that the former has been found a much more certain road to the introduction of despotism than the latter, and that of those men who have overturned the liberties of republics, the greatest number have begun their career by paying an obsequious court to the people; commencing demagogues, and ending tyrants. ~ Alexander Hamilton
Politics Leaders quotes by Alexander Hamilton
My life in Hollywood surrounded by celebrities became a point of view for me - sports, fashion, music, film, arts, and politics as a media play. ~ John Van Hamersveld
