There are many hours and minutes between now and tomorrowand in any one of them-even in a minute, the house falls ~ Miguel De Cervantes Saavedra
Pasamanos De Escaleras quotes by Miguel De Cervantes Saavedra
Whereas we can say something sensible and polite to any stranger, it is only in the presence of the lover we wholeheartedly believe in that can we date to be extravagantly and boundlessly unreasonable. ~ Alain De Botton
Pasamanos De Escaleras quotes by Alain De Botton
If it is true that love is the pursuit in another of qualities we lack in ourselves, then in our love of someone from another culture, one ambition may be to weld ourselves more closely to values missing from our own culture. ~ Alain De Botton
Pasamanos De Escaleras quotes by Alain De Botton
In the OED editors' defense, they have set out to accomplish something that is inherently impossible - to record the entirety of a language. It is only natural they should occasionally come across words that are virtually indefinable, or that have meanings that have been lost to the ages. Whatever failings or inconsistencies the editors may exhibit are certainly not for lack of effort. James Murray in particular was renowned for attempting to ferret out knowledge, writing letters to every authority he could think of and posting queries in newspapers begging for information on a word. When I read the definition of lege de moy ("App. the name of some dance") I cannot help but imagine that they must have spent a tremendous amount of time looking for the meaning and roots of this word before one of the editors finally threw his hands up in disgust and exclaimed, "What the hell - just say it's some kind of dance or something, and let's get to the pub." As ~ Ammon Shea
Pasamanos De Escaleras quotes by Ammon Shea
It is impossible to do anything for anyone. ~ Simone De Beauvoir
Pasamanos De Escaleras quotes by Simone De Beauvoir
On many nights I have availed myself of these very gentlemen, in the adjoining room. Each time, I wondered if you might arrive and see me, as I took my pleasure, allowing their hands to explore my body. There is no part of me that has not been kissed and enjoyed. I opened myself in welcome, encouraging my suitors to bury themselves deep and hard, to obliterate all reserve and find the heart of me."

Mademoiselle Noire - The Gentlemen's Club ~ Emmanuelle De Maupassant
Pasamanos De Escaleras quotes by Emmanuelle De Maupassant
In democratic ages men rarely sacrifice themselves for another, but they show a general compassion for all the human race. One never sees them inflict pointless suffering, and they are glad to relieve the sorrows of others when they can do so without much trouble to themselves. They are not disinterested, but they are gentle. ~ Alexis De Tocqueville
Pasamanos De Escaleras quotes by Alexis De Tocqueville
Every story is a travel story – a spatial practice. ~ Michel De Certeau
Pasamanos De Escaleras quotes by Michel De Certeau
Capitalism attacks and destroys all the finer sentiments of the human heart; it ruthlessly sweeps away old traditions and ideas opposed to its progress, and it exploits and corrupts those things once held sacred. ~ Daniel De Leon
Pasamanos De Escaleras quotes by Daniel De Leon
My beloved Hillary, do not disappoint me. You have to be President, OK? ~ Oscar De La Renta
Pasamanos De Escaleras quotes by Oscar De La Renta
A fragrant Perfume is Love's Living Breath Breathed upon my Soul, the Soul of the beloved, infusing into me the Life Divine. ~ Jean-Marie De La Trinite
Pasamanos De Escaleras quotes by Jean-Marie De La Trinite
If, instead of all the diverse powers which excessively hindered or slowed down the flight of reason of the individual, democratic nations substituted the absolute power of a majority, only the character of this social ill would have been changed. Men would not have achieved the means of living independently; they would simply have lighted upon - a difficult enough task in itself - a new face of enslavement. ~ Alexis De Tocqueville
Pasamanos De Escaleras quotes by Alexis De Tocqueville
Nothing satisfies the man who is not satisfied with a little. ~ Alain De Botton
Pasamanos De Escaleras quotes by Alain De Botton
Foresight is good when it is subject to the latter, but it becomes excessive when we are in a hurry to avoid something we fear. We rely more on our own efforts than on those of his Providence, and we think we are doing a great deal by anticipating His orders by our own disorder, which causes us to rely on human prudence rather than on his Word. ~ Vincent De Paul
Pasamanos De Escaleras quotes by Vincent De Paul
A stab had clearly once been made at de-uglifying these public spaces by painting a corridor a jaunty yellow. This was because, it turned out, babies come here to have their brains tested and someone thought the yellow might calm them. But I couldn't see how. Such was the oppressive ugliness of this building it would have been like sticking a red nose on a cadaver and calling it Ronald McDonald. ~ Jon Ronson
Pasamanos De Escaleras quotes by Jon Ronson
I see myself as Kiki de Montparnasse, trying to get Man Ray's attention. (Sofia Navarro, 7th July 2012). ~ Sofia Navarro
Pasamanos De Escaleras quotes by Sofia Navarro
Words repeated again have as another sound, so another sense. ~ Michel De Montaigne
Pasamanos De Escaleras quotes by Michel De Montaigne
I base jumped off the Jesus statue in Rio de Janeiro. ~ Felix Baumgartner
Pasamanos De Escaleras quotes by Felix Baumgartner
To know how to wait is the great secret of success. ~ Joseph De Maistre
Pasamanos De Escaleras quotes by Joseph De Maistre
The proletariat could plan to massacre the whole ruling class; a fanatic Jew or black could dream of seizing the secret of the atomic bomb and turning all of humanity entirely Jewish or entirely black: but a woman could not even dream of exterminating males. The tie that binds her to her oppressors is unlike any other. The division of the sexes is a biological given, not a moment in human history. Their opposition took shape within an original Mitsein, and she has not broken it. The couple is a fundamental unit with the two halves riveted to each other: terristic of woman: she is the Other at the heart of a whole whose two components are necessary to each other. ~ Simone De Beauvoir
Pasamanos De Escaleras quotes by Simone De Beauvoir
If the world stops spinning, slowing to a crawl. I will continue to dream of you. Until, I no longer dream at all. ~ Jessica De La Davies
Pasamanos De Escaleras quotes by Jessica De La Davies
Under the heading of "defense mechanisms," psychoanalysis describes a number of ways in which a person becomes alienated from himself. For example, repression, denial, splitting, projection, introjection. These "mechanisms" are often described in psychoanalytic terms as themselves "unconscious," that is, the person himself appears to be unaware that he is doing this to himself. Even when a person develops sufficient insight to see that "splitting", for example, is going on, he usually experiences this splitting as indeed a mechanism, an impersonal process, so to speak, which has taken over and which he can observe but cannot control or stop. There is thus some phenomenological validity in referring to such "defenses" by the term "mechanism." But we must not stop there. They have this mechanical quality because the person as he experiences himself is dissociated from them. He appears to himself and to others to suffer from them. They seem to be processes he undergoes, and as such he experiences himself as a patient, with a particular psychopathology. But this is so only from the perspective of his own alienated experience. As he becomes de-alienated he is able first of all to become aware of them, if he has not already done so, and then to take the second, even more crucial, step of progressively realizing that these are things he does or has done to himself. Process becomes converted back to praxis, the patient becomes an agent. ~ R.D. Laing
Pasamanos De Escaleras quotes by R.D. Laing
Everybody finds themselves sometimes deficient in what they need, and put to inconvenience ... the richest people may easily be without something they want, and that is practically to suffer poverty. Accept such occurrences cheerfully, rejoice in them, bear them willingly. ~ Francis De Sales
Pasamanos De Escaleras quotes by Francis De Sales
I am certainly not arguing for the de facto autonomy of the individual work, even though there is much to be said for making the attempt to see it in that light as one facet of the reception process. ~ Brian Ferneyhough
Pasamanos De Escaleras quotes by Brian Ferneyhough
People who hold important positions in society are commonly labelled "somebodies," and their inverse "nobodies"-both of which are, of course, nonsensical descriptors, for we are all, by necessity, individuals with distinct identities and comparable claims on existence. Such words are nevertheless an apt vehicle for conveying the disparate treatment accorded to different groups. Those without status are all but invisible: they are treated brusquely by others, their complexities trampled upon and their singularities ignored. ~ Alain De Botton
Pasamanos De Escaleras quotes by Alain De Botton
As soon as man enters into a state of society he loses the sense of his weakness; equality ceases, and then commences the state of war. ~ Charles De Secondat
Pasamanos De Escaleras quotes by Charles De Secondat
Women are not entirely wrong when they reject the moral rules proclaimed in society, since it is we men alone who have made them. ~ Michel De Montaigne
Pasamanos De Escaleras quotes by Michel De Montaigne
No destiny attacks us from outside. But, within him, man bears his fate and there comes a moment when he knows himself vulnerable; and then, as in a vertigo, blunder upon blunder lures him. ~ Antoine De Saint Exupery
Pasamanos De Escaleras quotes by Antoine De Saint Exupery
If we did not flatter ourselves, the flattery of others could never harm us. ~ Francois De La Rochefoucauld
Pasamanos De Escaleras quotes by Francois De La Rochefoucauld
Jessica frowned at her. "It was very difficult to keep a straight face - but that wasn't the hardest part. The hardest part was - " She let out a sigh. "Oh, Genevieve. He was so adorable. I wanted to kiss him. Right on his big, beautiful nose. And then everywhere else. It was so frustrating. I had made up my mind not to lose my temper, but I did. And so I beat him and beat him until he kissed me. And then I kept on beating him until he did it properly. And I had better tell you, mortifying as it is to admit, that if we had not been struck by lightning - or very nearly - I should be utterly ruined. Against a lamppost. On the Rue de Provence. And the horrible part is" - she groaned - "I wish I had been. ~ Loretta Chase
Pasamanos De Escaleras quotes by Loretta Chase
The lack of wealth is easily repaired but the poverty of the soul is irreplaceable. ~ Michel De Montaigne
Pasamanos De Escaleras quotes by Michel De Montaigne
Whoever believes anything esteems that it is a work of charity to persuade another of it. ~ Michel De Montaigne
Pasamanos De Escaleras quotes by Michel De Montaigne
She was aware that she was close to tears and her stomach was hollow with excitement, throat dry. Coup de foudre, the French called it. The thunderclap. The best kind of love of all. Instant and quite irrevocable ~ Jack Higgins
Pasamanos De Escaleras quotes by Jack Higgins
This demonstrated to me that those who regard universal suffrage as a guarantee for good choices are under a complete illusion. Universal suffrage has other advantages, but not that one. ~ Alexis De Tocqueville
Pasamanos De Escaleras quotes by Alexis De Tocqueville
Trust me to return to you." "I will wait forever. however long it takes. ~ Melissa De La Cruz
Pasamanos De Escaleras quotes by Melissa De La Cruz
A myth is a fixed way of looking at the world which cannot be destroyed because, looked at through the myth, all evidence supports the myth. ~ Edward De Bono
Pasamanos De Escaleras quotes by Edward De Bono
Le Corbusier is an outstanding writer. His ideas achieved their impact in large measure because he could write so convincingly. His style is utterly clear, brusque, funny and polemical in the best way. ~ Alain De Botton
Pasamanos De Escaleras quotes by Alain De Botton
The slave preaches the virtues of kindness and humility to his master, because as a slave he has need of them;but the master, better guided by nature and his passions, has no need to devote himself to anything excepting those things which serve or please him. Be as kind as you wish, if you enjoy such things - but dont demand any reward for having had this pleasure ~ Marquis De Sade
Pasamanos De Escaleras quotes by Marquis De Sade
Creativity involves provocation, exploration and risk taking. Creativity involves "thought experiments." You cannot tell in advance how the experiment is going to turn out. But you want to be able to carry out the experiment. ~ Edward De Bono
Pasamanos De Escaleras quotes by Edward De Bono
When Prince Napoleon, the cousin of Napoleon Bonaparte III, visited Washington in early August, Mary organized an elaborate dinner party. She found the task of entertaining much simpler than it had been in Springfield days. "We only have to give our orders for the dinner, and dress in proper season," she wrote her friend Hannah Shearer. Having learned French when she was young, she conversed easily with the prince. It was a "beautiful dinner," Lizzie Grimsley recalled, "beautifully served, gay conversation in which the French tongue predominated." Two days later, her interest in French literature apparently renewed, Mary requested Volume 9 of the Oeuvres de Victor Hugo from the Library of Congress. ~ Doris Kearns Goodwin
Pasamanos De Escaleras quotes by Doris Kearns Goodwin
Food brings people together on many different levels. It's nourishment of the soul and body; it's truly love. ~ Giada De Laurentiis
Pasamanos De Escaleras quotes by Giada De Laurentiis
Consciousness (conscientia) is participated knowledge, is co-feeling, and co-feeling is com-passion. Love personalizes all that it loves. Only by personalizing it can we fall in love with an idea. And when love is so great and so vital, so strong and so overflowing, that it loves everything, then it personalizes everything and discovers that the total All, that the Universe, is also a person possessing a Consciousness, a Consciousness which in its turn suffers, pities, and loves, and therefore is consciousness. And this Consciousness of the Universe, which a love, personalizing all that it loves, discovers, is what we call God. ~ Miguel De Unamuno
Pasamanos De Escaleras quotes by Miguel De Unamuno
Humans were not to be toyed with, they were to be respected. ~ Melissa De La Cruz
Pasamanos De Escaleras quotes by Melissa De La Cruz
Born of the sensibility, art sows and creates life in its turn. ~ Remy De Gourmont
Pasamanos De Escaleras quotes by Remy De Gourmont
A bad boy can be very good for a girl. ~ Melissa De La Cruz
Pasamanos De Escaleras quotes by Melissa De La Cruz
Any punishment that does not correct, that can merely rouse rebellion in whoever has to endure it, is a piece of gratuitous infamy which makes those who impose it more guilty in the eyes of humanity, good sense and reason, nay a hundred times more guilty than the victim on whom the punishment is inflicted. ~ Marquis De Sade
Pasamanos De Escaleras quotes by Marquis De Sade
Nowhere but in France are people so strictly observant of great matters and so disdainfully indulgent about small ones. ~ Honore De Balzac
Pasamanos De Escaleras quotes by Honore De Balzac
It is hard to imagine Andre Le Notre laying out the exquisite landscape designs for Vaux-le-Vicomte, and later the magnificent Chateau de Versailles, with no high hill to stand on, no helicopter to fly in, and no drone to show him the complexities of the terrain. Yet he did, and with extreme precision, accuracy, and high style. ~ Martha Stewart
