I've read science fiction and fantasy all my life – though when you're a child, they just call that "books." The first book I ever read on my own was The Neverending Story. I studied classics at university, and in ancient literature, monsters, witches, magic, curses, and impossible machines aren't genre, they're just Tuesday afternoon. I had no idea that I was writing fantasy at first, because I was so saturated in Greek literature that it never occurred to me that my talking animals and sentient mazes were anything but realism. Our instinct toward folklore and magical stories, parables and imagining the future, are as much a part of the human experiences as divorce, grief, falling in love, politics, or raising children. I've always read fantastic literature, because it's always seemed truest to me. It makes the metaphorical literal and is all the more powerful for that immediacy and directness. I love genre fiction for the infinite expanse of stories it can tell – and it's been my constant companion since I was a very small child. ~ Catherynne M. Valente
Nasos Blog quotes by Catherynne M. Valente
Put your blog out into the world and hope that your talent will speak for itself. ~ Diablo Cody
Nasos Blog quotes by Diablo Cody
The truth is that the world is full of dragons, and none of us are as powerful or cool as we'd like to be. And that sucks. But when you're confronted with that fact, you can either crawl into a hole and quit, or you can get out there, take off your shoes, and Bilbo it up. ~ Patrick Rothfuss
Nasos Blog quotes by Patrick Rothfuss
I went to a couple of Rangers games at the Garden, and someone at the NHL had seen me and figured I was a fan and decided to approach me about having a blog during the playoffs. ~ Eddie Cahill
Nasos Blog quotes by Eddie Cahill
Being a famous writer is great. But there is a limit for it. For what extend can you be famous, and what would you achieve? True, your books will be best sellers, your blog writings and tweets will be hits, fans will love you, and what next? We all die to reach 'there' as budding writers, but once we reach 'it', we think, what next? Is this what we wanted all our lives? To grab all the leading awards, write best sellers, to be loved, to be known and heard? Will they help us achieve inner peace? I believe the utmost important thing is achieving inner peace, not money and fame. A writer should write to achieve inner peace forgetting all other things. Money, fame, fans are not going to last forever, but inner peace is. ~ Ama H. Vanniarachchy
Nasos Blog quotes by Ama H. Vanniarachchy
To find one's purpose is to discover one's worth, discern one's direction, wholly dedicate oneself to the journey, and forge an unbending determination that I will not leave the world the way I found it. This week's blog outlines the finding of our purpose. ~ Craig D. Lounsbrough
Nasos Blog quotes by Craig D. Lounsbrough
Like, radio is closer to a Tumblr, or a blog, or Twitter, than it is to television, I think. ~ Ira Glass
Nasos Blog quotes by Ira Glass
Make a list of competitors who will be disrupted by you. You do have competitors, right? You are better, right? If not, why are you going to Disrupt? Post a blog post about them and what makes you different. ~ Robert Scoble
Nasos Blog quotes by Robert Scoble
Norns are incredible architects. They simply use death as a building block. Andacellus, Viddion marah. ~ Taylor Grace
Nasos Blog quotes by Taylor Grace
A midst deceit I found the truth;
there in the rough I found a diamond.
And from the moment we met,
I think of no one else
Today I choose to be, to live and breathe;
to dream, to weep, and to sing in free verse.
And you, the object of my delight:
a like-minded opposite I am myself with,
a mind-fuck times six, seven, eight thousand and three.
I know that you love me with every inch of your deep. ~ Donato DiCristino
Nasos Blog quotes by Donato DiCristino
We must admit that our opponents in this argument have a marked advantage over us. They need only a few words to set forth a half-truth; whereas, in order to show that it is a half-truth, we have to resort to long and arid dissertations. ~ Frederic Bastiat
Nasos Blog quotes by Frederic Bastiat
NO reader has ANY obligation to an author, whether it be to leave a review or to write a "constructive" one. I put out a product. You are consumers of that product. Since when does that mean you have to kiss my ass? Hey, I like Pop-Tarts and eat them a few times a year; since when does that mean I'm obligated to support Kellogg's in any way except legally purchasing the Pop-Tarts before I eat them? I wasn't aware that purchasing and consuming a product meant I was under some sort of fucking thrall in which I'm only allowed to either praise the Pop-Tart (which to be honest isn't hard, especially the S'mores flavor) or, if I am going to criticize a flavor, offer a specific and detailed analysis as to why, phrased in as inoffensive and gentle a manner as possible so as not to upset the gentle people at Kellogg's."
[Something in the Water? (blog post; January 9, 2012)] ~ Stacia Kane
Nasos Blog quotes by Stacia Kane
And once I realized that code I write never fucking goes away and I'm going to be a maintainer for life. I get comments about blog posts that are almost 10 years old. "Hey, I found this code. I found a bug," and I'm suddenly maintaining code. ~ Peter Seibel
Nasos Blog quotes by Peter Seibel
We have lost the idea that something can be secret because it is valuable, not because it's shameful. If you share everything with everybody, what have you got for yourself? I tweet and I blog, but I save a lot for myself. Not because I am ashamed. ~ Patrick Ness
Nasos Blog quotes by Patrick Ness
Once I found this possibility to use Twitter and Facebook and my blog to connect to my readers, I'm going to use it, to connect to them and to share thoughts that I cannot use in the book. ~ Paulo Coelho
Nasos Blog quotes by Paulo Coelho
I'm aware of the fact that I don't know how to do it all, but I want for my blog to be a place where people can come to ask questions so that I can look for the answers for them. That's the kind of work that I did for my books, and I want to transition that to my blog for more of a community feel. ~ Katherine Schwarzenegger
Nasos Blog quotes by Katherine Schwarzenegger
The priority of any addict is to anaesthetise the pain of living to ease the passage of day with some purchased relief. ~ Russell Brand
Nasos Blog quotes by Russell Brand
The process of making a movie has expanded in terms of effort and time for the director, doing commentaries for the DVD for example, finishing deleted scenes so they could be on the DVD, and doing things like a web blog. ~ David Cronenberg
Nasos Blog quotes by David Cronenberg
I am just a guy, doing my best to be the best person I can be.
And, every once in a while, I fuck up the moment I'm in.
Please. Get over it. Get over yourselves. Get over this weird need to be morally superior to me and to the other people in this world.
And let me be imperfect. I assure you, my imperfections drive me to improve.
Let me love myself. I assure you, loving myself despite my faults will only make me a better person.
Let me be my own judge. I assure you, I'll be more fair and just than you ever will.
Let me be the owner of my own intentions. I assure you, there isn't another soul on earth who knows what my real intentions are but me.
Love and acceptance despite ongoing and glaring imperfection is all I've ever tried to attain with this blog. For me. For you. For everyone. And I'll never stop. ~ Dan Pearce
Nasos Blog quotes by Dan Pearce
Growing up like rewriting is simply admitting how clueless you were not so long ago. ~ Scott Westerfeld
Nasos Blog quotes by Scott Westerfeld
If you write a blog post, you've got something to say; you're not just creating words and synonyms. We'd like the computers to actually pick up on that semantic meaning. ~ Ray Kurzweil
Nasos Blog quotes by Ray Kurzweil
I will not let my sales figures dictate what I say on the blog, because the blog is what I want to say. ~ John Scalzi
Nasos Blog quotes by John Scalzi
I think that you have to restrain yourself from googling your name and have other hobbies and desires and wants. You do a million things. You go to school, you write, you read, you blog. ~ Mila Kunis
Nasos Blog quotes by Mila Kunis
I believe the term "blog" means more than an online journal. I believe a blog is a conversation. People go to blogs to read AND write, not just consume. ~ Michael Arrington
Nasos Blog quotes by Michael Arrington
Juno: Honest to blog? ~ Diablo Cody
Nasos Blog quotes by Diablo Cody
The real issue isn't whether our generation is wearing enough bedazzled cross T-shirts; it's whether we are allowing the message of Jesus to root deeper than our wardrobe, blog posts, music playlists, tweets, and Facebook statuses. We've become a tribe of people who rank our faith in a measurement of likes, re-tweets, and memory verses. We need to up our game. ~ Jarrid Wilson
Nasos Blog quotes by Jarrid Wilson
I had started on the marriage and motherhood beat by accident with a post on my personal, read only by friends, blog called 'Fifty Shades of Men'. I had written it after buying Fifty Shades of Grey to spice up what Dave and I half-jokingly called our grown up time, and had written a meditation on how the sex wasn't the sexiest part of the book. "Dear publishers, I will tell you why every woman with a ring on her finger and a car seat in her SUV is devouring this book like the candy she won't let herself eat." I had written. "It's not the fantasy of an impossibly handsome guy who can give you an orgasm just by stroking your nipples. It is instead the fantasy of a guy who can give you everything. Hapless, clueless, barely able to remain upright without assistance, Ana Steele is that unlikeliest of creatures, a college student who doesn't have an email address, a computer, or a clue. Turns out she doesn't need any of those things. Here is the dominant Christian Grey and he'll give her that computer plus an iPad, a beamer, a job, and an identity, sexual and otherwise. No more worrying about what to wear. Christian buys her clothes. No more stress about how to be in the bedroom. Christian makes those decisions. For women who do too much - which includes, dear publishers, pretty much all the women who have enough disposable income to buy your books - this is the ultimate fantasy: not a man who will make you come, but a man who will make agency unnecessary, a man who will choose you ~ Jennifer Weiner
Nasos Blog quotes by Jennifer Weiner
The Guardian's 'Word of Mouth' blog bridges the gap between blogging and serious food journalism. ~ Yotam Ottolenghi
Nasos Blog quotes by Yotam Ottolenghi
It's ever so fun and fulfilling to be clever, but more lasting and effective to be consistent. ~ Teresa R. Funke, Bursts Of Brilliance For A Creative Life Blog

At last we've seen the first installment of Joss Whedon's new web series, 'Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog,' and it's sweeter than we'd ever imagined. ~ Annalee Newitz
Nasos Blog quotes by Annalee Newitz
Life is essentially a circus and we are just playing our roles. Remember life makes everyone 'joker' once in a while. ~ Hemant Pandey
Nasos Blog quotes by Hemant Pandey
I have blogged previously about the dangerous and deadly effects of science denialism, from the innocent babies unnecessarily exposed to deadly diseases by other kids whose parents are anti-vaxxers, to the frequent examples of how acceptance of evolution helps us stop diseases and pests (and in the case of Baby Fae, rejection of evolution was fatal), to the long-term effects of climate denial to the future of the planet we all depend upon. But one of the strangest forms of denialism is the weird coalition of people who refuse to accept the medical fact that the HIV virus causes AIDS. What the heck? Didn't we resolve this issue in the 1980s when the AIDS condition first became epidemic and the HIV virus was discovered and linked to AIDS? Yes, we did - but for people who want to deny scientific reality, it doesn't matter how many studies have been done, or how strong the scientific consensus is. There are a significant number of people out there (especially among countries and communities with high rates of AIDS infections) that refuse to accept medical reality. I described all of these at greater length in my new book Reality Check: How Science Deniers Threaten our Future. ~ Donald R. Prothero
Nasos Blog quotes by Donald R. Prothero
Communicate with your fans or customers. They know we live in an ever changing world. If you tell them what you are thinking and why you are doing what you do, as I did with my blog regarding Nash leaving, they will respect and support you more. ~ Mark Cuban
Nasos Blog quotes by Mark Cuban
A blog is a message in a bottle, both in purpose and likely readership. ~ Robert Breault
Nasos Blog quotes by Robert Breault
The 800 pound gorilla just entered the blogosphere, with Google launching its blog search. ~ Charlene Li
Nasos Blog quotes by Charlene Li
Consider the many ways your content can be repurposed and be published in a variety of places. One of your content pieces can start with a blog post on your site, then be turned into an article in a digital magazine, be used to develop a chapter for your book, be part of a discussion on a podcast, be used on a YouTube video, be used as a post on LinkedIn, and so on. ~ Bill Kopatich
Nasos Blog quotes by Bill Kopatich
People want the truth but they only want the truth so they can talk bad about you on the blog or on television. They want you to tell them the truth and it screws everybody. ~ Billy Bob Thornton
Nasos Blog quotes by Billy Bob Thornton
16 marketing vehicles are: 1. Social media marketing 2. Blog marketing 3. Article marketing 4. Lecture marketing 5. Webinar marketing 6. Video marketing 7. Presentation marketing 8. Podcast marketing 9. Workshop marketing 10. Book marketing 11. Drip marketing 12. Referral marketing ~ Jay Niblick
Nasos Blog quotes by Jay Niblick
Dear Victor: This bath towel was wet and you left it on the floor and it was the last clean one in the house. I'm pretty sure this is how tuberculosis is spread. I'm writing all this in my blog in case I end up dead because of your carelessness. ~ Jenny Lawson
Nasos Blog quotes by Jenny Lawson
it strikes me that the writers most deeply concerned with the state of literary fiction and its biases against women could do a lot worse than trying to coin some terms of their own: to name the archetypes they wish to invert or criticise and thereby open up the discussion. If authors can be thought of as magicians in any sense, then the root of our power has always rested with words: choosing them, arranging them and – most powerfully – inventing them. Sexism won't go away overnight, and nor will literary bias. But until then, if we're determined to invest ourselves in bringing about those changes, it only makes sense to arm ourselves with a language that we, and not our enemies, have chosen.

Nasos Blog quotes by Foz Meadows
I must be the last person online to have been struck with this realization, but it's amazing how the Internet has empowered hundreds of ordinary people, turning them into little Diane Sawyers and Anderson Coopers as they snap and blog away. ~ Bryan Burrough
Nasos Blog quotes by Bryan Burrough
I try to be careful about wording. One of the things I've tried to combat in my blog is the notion that journalists are arrogant and unconcerned with the readership. ~ Nicholas D. Kristof
Nasos Blog quotes by Nicholas D. Kristof
Make your links from blog comments genuine. ~ Matt Cutts
Nasos Blog quotes by Matt Cutts
Value the quality of your articles over the number of articles you write. I know a lot of bloggers focus on writing as many articles as possible, but I've realized over the years that you cannot sacrifice quality if you wish to build a loyal following on your blog. ~ Jeet Banerjee
Nasos Blog quotes by Jeet Banerjee
Any country that enjoys fighting and bitching as a recreation as much as America does will always be, in some way or another, walking along a knife's edge. We're a nation that spends its afternoons watching white trash throw chairs at each other on Jerry Springer, its drive time listening to the partisan rantings of this or that hysterical political demagogue, and its late-night hours composing feverish blog entries full of anonymous screeds and denunciations. All of this shit is harmless enough so long as the power comes on every morning, fresh milk makes it to the shelves, there's a dial tone, and your front yard isn't underwater. But it becomes a problem when the magic grid goes down and suddenly there's no more machinery between you and whomever you happen to get off on hating. ~ Matt Taibbi
Nasos Blog quotes by Matt Taibbi
In a different era, Ignatius would have been terrific at the Internet. You can picture him tucked into his Constantinople Street bedroom with an empty case of root beer at his feet, crouched over a grungy, glowing laptop, posting screeds to his blog, adding pointed and overwrought comments below news articles. ~ Margaret Eby
