Live on the divine Eucharist, like the Hebrews did on the Manna. Your soul can be entirely dedicated to the divine Eucharist and very holy in the midst of your work and contacts with the world. ~ Peter Julian Eymard
Manna quotes by Peter Julian Eymard
The Word of God is like manna - it's daily nourishment, daily reminders of God's nearness. It's what God knows we need in order to thrive. But, so often, we hunger for something more. ~ Glenna Marshall
Manna quotes by Glenna Marshall
Cordelia's stomach tightened. "Radnov and Darobey, by chance?" Stuben stared. "How did you know?" "Go on, just go on." "They were the ringleaders of a conspiracy to unseat that homicidal maniac Vorkosigan. Vorkosigan was after them, so they were glad to see us." "I'll bet. Just like manna from heaven." "A Barrayaran patrol shuttled down after them. We set up an ambush - stunned them all, except for one Radnov shot with a nerve disruptor. Those guys really play for keeps. ~ Lois McMaster Bujold
Manna quotes by Lois McMaster Bujold
Because I'm the best fuck in the solar system. (Toreth) ~ Manna Francis
Manna quotes by Manna Francis
Just you. It's enough.'" (Warrick) ~ Manna Francis
Manna quotes by Manna Francis
Cwaedon þaet he waere wyruld-cyninga,
manna mildust ond mon-ðwaerust,
leodum liðost ond lof-geornost. ~ Anonymous
Manna quotes by Anonymous
I was dreaming about this - except it feels even better than I thought it would. Fucking fantastic. Clean sheets. You"

Warrick moved across and kissed him gently, exactly as he'd imagined. Soft cotton and warm skin against him, soothing and luxurious. Hand on his back, touching carefully. He had a moment of fear that this was the dream, that soon he would wake up in the cell. Then a noise distracted him: distant firing in the city. He tensed, and Warrick's hand stroked a circle over his shoulder-blade. More firing, but it was nothing to do with him. Nothing to worry about, even if he could manage it. Safe, here.

He recaptured the tail end of a thought, before it disappeared into sleep. "Just you. 'S enough."

If Warrick said anything in reply, Toreth didn't hear it. ~ Manna Francis
Manna quotes by Manna Francis
Anonymous dark hotel room, not one of Toreth's regular places. Anonymous hands on him, anonymous cock inside him. He liked it. He wanted it. Doing, not feeling. A safe, familiar thing and it was good. Or at least it stopped him thinking. When they had finished and were dressing, the man whose name he hadn't asked said, "Tell Warrick I said hello."
Toreth nearly choked. "What?"
"After hearing his name so many times, I feel like I know him." He didn't have an answer to that. ~ Manna Francis
Manna quotes by Manna Francis
In the wilderness, God's covenant people struggled with a choice between feeding their bellies and nourishing their souls. God provided manna
a breadlike food that fell to the ground during the night
to sustain the wandering Israelites and to teach them how to value His Word more than physical fulfillment. ~ Charles R. Swindoll
Manna quotes by Charles R. Swindoll
I have another proof that we're going to have food in Heaven! And man did eat angel's food.-Manna! So angels can eat food! ~ David Berg
Manna quotes by David Berg
JESUS & THE WEATHER

I don't think Jesus Who is Our Lord would have liked the weather in Limerick because it's always raining and the Shannon keeps the whole city damp. My father says the Shannon is a killer river because it killed my two brothers. When you look at pictures of Jesus He's always wandering around ancient Israel in a sheet. It never rains there and you never hear of anyone coughing or getting consumption or anything like that and no one has a job there because all they do is stand around and eat manna and shake their fists and go to crucifixions.

Anytime Jesus got hungry all He had to do was go up the road to a fig tree or an orange tree and have His fill. If He wanted a pint He could wave His hand over a big glass and there was the pint. Or He could visit Mary Magdalene and her sister, Martha, and they'd give Him His dinner no questions asked and He'd get his feet washed and dried with Mary Magdalene's hair while Martha washed the dishes, which I don't think is fair. Why should she have to wash the dishes while her sister sits out there chatting away with Our Lord? It's a good thing Jesus decided to be born Jewish in that warm place because if he was born in Limerick he'd catch the consumption and be dead in a month and there wouldn't be any Catholic Church and there wouldn't be any Communion or Confirmation and we wouldn't have to learn the catechism and write compositions about Him.

The End. ~ Frank McCourt
Manna quotes by Frank McCourt
The afflicted pray for healing--just as hungry people pray for bread, but when has God ever sent bread? In my recollection of the scriptures, God has always sent a woman. A woman like Eve and the unnamed woman that preceded her. A woman like Moses's mother, Jochebed, and the woman who raised him to be a king, Bithia. A woman like Deborah and her skull-piercing homegirl, Jael. Maybe some manna, but when has God ever sent bread? ~ DaMaris B. Hill
Manna quotes by DaMaris B. Hill
Of the ready green on a blue felt top. The gentlemen who had assembled around it for an evening of high-stakes Hold 'Em were well dressed, well fed, and well heeled, but now their mouths hung loose and their poolside tans paled. "Hands on the table, guys," Jadick said. "And don't any of you act one-armed." A short man with an air of compact power, Jadick moved with brisk precision and spoke calmly. He pulled back the hammers on his archaic but awesome weapon and said, "Scoop the fuckin' manna, boys." "Check," said Dean Pugh. He and Cecil Byrne, his fellow Wingman, went slowly around the table ~ Daniel Woodrell
Manna quotes by Daniel Woodrell
How easy it might be to think that with the casting down of this crystal manna, the great metropolis has been sanctified, that it is as innocent as these bridal veils make it seem. ~ Dean Koontz
Manna quotes by Dean Koontz
She's Warrick's sister," he said, aiming to sound disapproving and very nearly managing it.
"Yeah, and that's why you want to screw her. Because they have that weird identical twin thing going on, even though they aren't." Her eyes narrowed. "In fact, I bet you've thought about doing both of them at the same time. Side-by-side comparison. Or top-and-bottom comparison."
"That's disgusting." Toreth said, grinning hugely. ~ Manna Francis
Manna quotes by Manna Francis
An engaging, blow-by-blow account of the infancy of the Obama presidency ... Manna for political junkies ... Thoroughly researched ... humanizes a figure considered periodically out-of-touch even by some of his admirers. ~ Carlo Wolff
Manna quotes by Carlo Wolff
Christ leads us into the wilderness of suffering to engage us there. When he meets us in the wilderness, he is manna, he is water from a broken rock. But he is also the one who wants us to potently feel our lack so that we cling to him. The Apostle Paul expressed as much when he wrote, we are 'sorrowful, yet always rejoicing.' God is the one who leads us into the desert and who makes us feel exposed and frail there. He is the one who turns the wilderness into a womb from which his children are born into gladness. And, like Hagar, we cry, 'You are the God who sees. ~ Ben Palpant
Manna quotes by Ben Palpant
Could you get off like that without it? Without the chains?"
Without the absolute surrender. "No. And not without you. You more than any of it. ~ Manna Francis
Manna quotes by Manna Francis
Over a period of forty years, God gave the children of Israel nothing to eat except manna ... From John 6 we ... know that this heavenly manna is a type of Christ. Christ came from God to be our diet. We need to eat Him, drink Him, and breathe Him ... As God's people today, we need to be reconstituted with Christ as our very element. In this way, we shall become Christ as far as our constitution is concerned. ~ Witness Lee
Manna quotes by Witness Lee
The truth was that upsilamba was one of Nabokovs fascinating creations, possibly a word he invented. I said I associate Upsilamba with the impossible joy of a suspended leap. Yassi, who seemed excited for no particular reason, cried out that she always thought it could be a name of a dance- you know, "C'mon, baby, do the Upsilamba with me". Manna suggested that the word upsilamba evoked the image of small silver fish leaping in and out of a moonlit lake. Nima added in parentheses, Just so you won't forget me, although you have barred me from your class: an upsilamba to you too! For Azin it was a sound, a melody. Mahashid described an image of three girls jumping rope and shouting" Upsilamba" with each leap. For Sanaz, the word was a small African boy's secret magical name. Mitra wasn't sure why the word reminded her of the paradox of a blissful sigh. And for Nassrin it was a magic code that opened the door to a secret cave filled with treasures. ~ Azar Nafisi
Manna quotes by Azar Nafisi
What was wrong with these angels tonight? Did they eat bad manna or something? ~ Ashlan Thomas
Manna quotes by Ashlan Thomas
But it isn't you, is it?
Then he winced inwardly, because that sounded far more ... meaningful than he'd intended ~ Manna Francis
Manna quotes by Manna Francis
There are no miracles these days. Manna will not fall from the sky. Bombs, yes, enough to pierce our hearts, but manna, no. ~ Chinelo Okparanta
Manna quotes by Chinelo Okparanta
Even Ignatius Loyola wavered. That dark night of the soul, man. No one's immune. It would all be meaningless if you didn't wonder and doubt. That's what makes it real. That's what makes us people. God could have sent angels to flutter around like fairies, delivering rum punch and manna all day on a cosmic cruise ship. But what would that avail us? ~ Luis Alberto Urrea
Manna quotes by Luis Alberto Urrea
If men do not feed you, ravens shall; and if earth yields not wheat, heaven shall drop with manna. ~ Charles Haddon Spurgeon
Manna quotes by Charles Haddon Spurgeon
Earthly goods are given to be used, not to be collected. In the wilderness God gave Israel the manna every day, and they had no need to worry about food and drink. Indeed, if they kept any of the manna over until the next day, it went bad. In the same way, the disciple must receive his portion from God every day. If he stores it up as a permanent possession, he spoils not only the gift, but himself as well, for he sets his heart on accumulated wealth, and makes it a barrier between himself and God. Where our treasure is, there is our trust, our security, our consolation and our God. Hoarding is idolatry. ~ Dietrich Bonhoeffer
Manna quotes by Dietrich Bonhoeffer
If we partake of Christ as the real manna, we shall find it difficult to lose our temper ... This heavenly food causes our lusts to be restricted. It also deals with our selfish ambition. On the one hand, the heavenly manna nourishes us and heals us; on the other hand, it eliminates the negative things in us. Because eating is such a crucial matter, the regulating of man's diet is another basic concept in the Bible. ~ Witness Lee
Manna quotes by Witness Lee
American youth ministry often looks beautiful on the surface, with big youth rooms and conferences full of excited kids, but underneath the shine is rot, for the youth ministry has been more about mammon than manna, more about investment in banked faith than about inviting young people to partake with parents and other adults in the daily gift of faith that comes to us all as we pray and confess, I believe. Help [our] unbelief. ~ Andrew Root
Manna quotes by Andrew Root
Yes," he replied, "absolutely sans mademoiselle; for I am to take mademoiselle to the moon, and there I shall seek a cave in one of the white valleys among the volcano-tops, and mademoiselle shall live with me there, and only me." "She will have nothing to eat--you will starve her," observed Adèle. "I shall gather manna for her morning and night; the plains and hell-sides in the moon are bleached with manna, Adèle." "She will want to warm herself; what will she do for a fire?" "Fire rises out of the lunar mountains; when she is cold, I'll carry her up to a peak and lay her down on the edge of a crater." "Oh, she'll be uncomfortable there! And her clothes, they will wear out; how can she get new ones?" Mr. Rochester professed to be puzzled. "Hem!" said he. "What would you do, Adèle? Cudgel your brains for an expedient. How would a white or a pink cloud answer for a gown, do you think? And one could cut a pretty enough scarf out of a rainbow." "She is far better as she is," concluded Adèle, after musing some time; "besides, she would get tired of living with only you in the moon. If I were mademoiselle, I would never consent to go with you. ~ Charlotte Bronte
Manna quotes by Charlotte Bronte
manna does not fall from heaven as in the days of moses ~ Tororo
Manna quotes by Tororo
If we want to find the manna hidden in our vocation, let us restrict and confine all our desires within it. ~ Vincent De Paul
Manna quotes by Vincent De Paul
Hearken, my believing reader. What is the cause of your weakness? Is it not because the fountain of life is little used? Is it not because you are resting on old experiences, and not daily gathering new manna - daily drawing new strength from Christ? ~ J.C. Ryle
Manna quotes by J.C. Ryle
..Well?"

"Well what?"

"Was it good?"

"Was it - ?" So typically bloody Toreth. "God, I can't remember." Then she took pity on him. "Yes, it was. I mean, I haven't spent ten years thinking about it every time I screwed anyone, but it was, oh, I don't know...in the top ten."

He grinned. "Top five? ~ Manna Francis
Manna quotes by Manna Francis
Keep a clear conscience. Contentment is the manna that is laid up in the ark of a good conscience: O take heed of indulging any sin! it is as natural for guilt to breed disquiet, as for putrid matter to breed vermin. Sin lies as Jonah in the ship, it raiseth a tempest. If dust or motes be gotten into the eye, they make the eye water, and cause a soreness in it; if the eye be clear, then it is free from that soreness; if sin be gotten into the conscience, which is as the eye of the soul, then grief and disquiet breed there; but keep the eye of conscience clear, and all is well. What Solomon saith of a good stomach, I may say of a good conscience, "to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet:"Pr. 27. 7 so to a good conscience every bitter thing is sweet; it can pick contentment out of the cross. A good conscience turns the waters of Marah into wine. Would you have a quiet heart? Get a smiling conscience. I wonder not to hear Paul say he was in every state content, when he could make that triumph, "I have lived in all good conscience to this day." When once a man's reckonings are clear, it must needs let in abundance of contentment into the heart. Good conscience can suck contentment out of the bitterest drug, under slanders; "our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience."2 Cor. 1. 12 In case of imprisonment, Paul had his prison songs, and could play the sweet lessons of contentment, when his feet were in the stocks.Ac. 16. 25 Augustine calls it "the paradise of a g ~ Thomas Watson
Manna quotes by Thomas Watson
More stars than he'd seen in his life. More stars than he'd ever imagined existed. Even the gaps between them looked different - a deep velvety blue only a shade away from black. The unexpected beauty of it held his gaze, leaving him unaware of time passing. ~ Manna Francis
Manna quotes by Manna Francis
This "manna from heaven" was being squandered because of the laziness and stupidity of the savages who refused to work as harvesters of latex and obliged the planters to go to the tribes and take them by force. Which meant a great loss of time and money for the enterprises. "Well, ~ Mario Vargas-Llosa
Manna quotes by Mario Vargas-Llosa
What the hell kind of message were you supposed to send under these circumstances? Tell him I committed suicide because I couldn't bear the idea of Carnac shoving his cock down my throat and expecting me to be grateful for it? Tell him I'm going to miss him, for however long it takes them to kill me? Tell him I'm sorry that the last thing we did together was argue and not fuck? Tell him that he was the best fuck in the world?
"Tell him I ... " And his eyes started to sting from looking at her, seeing her crying for him. No one else ever had. "You're the admin - just tell him something. Whatever you think he'd like to hear. Make it sound good. ~ Manna Francis
Manna quotes by Manna Francis
Manna today or I starve. ~ Ann Voskamp
Manna quotes by Ann Voskamp
...The happy Warrior... 'tis he whose law is reason; who depends upon that law as on the best of friends; whence, in a state where men are tempted still to evil for a guard against worse ill, and what in quality or act is best doth seldom on a right foundation rest, he labors good on good to fix, and owes to virtue every triumph that he knows: who, if he rise to station of command, rises by open means; and there will stand on honorable terms, or else retire, and in himself possess his own desire; who comprehends his trust, and to the same keeps faithful with a singleness of aim; and therefore does not stoop, nor lie in wait for wealth, or honors, or for worldly state; whom they must follow; on whose head must fall, like showers of manna, if they come at all: ~ William Wordsworth
Manna quotes by William Wordsworth
She took a sip of the coffee and then said, "Manna. Thank you, Sir."
"Now I really do know how to punish you."
She curled both hands around the mug. "You wouldn't take away my coffee!"
"Only if I feared for my life," he said, carrying food to the table. ~ Sierra Cartwright
Manna quotes by Sierra Cartwright
The gallant captain vacated his cabin for her, and Manna changed her role from cook to chaperone. All most correct. But it was hardly the done thing to cadge a lift on a torpedo boat. Yet she did it twice in a lifetime. ~ Mary Allsebrook

On Titan the molecules that have been raining down like manna from heaven for the last 4 billion years might still be there largely unaltered deep-frozen awaiting the chemists from Earth ~ Carl Sagan
Manna quotes by Carl Sagan
He watched Warrick walk away across the café, and started sentences in his mind. Don't go yet. I want five minutes, that's all. One minute. I want you. This could be the last time I see you. This really could be the last time. I want you to - ~ Manna Francis
Manna quotes by Manna Francis
Give unto us this day the daily manna Without which, in this desert where we dwell, He must go backward who would most advance. ~ Dante Alighieri
Manna quotes by Dante Alighieri
The people are hungry for fresh manna, not some day old bread. ~ Renny McLean
Manna quotes by Renny McLean
When it rains manna from heaven, some people put up an umbrella. Others reach for a big spoon. ~ Peter Drucker
Manna quotes by Peter Drucker
Putting the pastries onto a large tray, I asked Manna if she envisioned the words to her poems in colors. Nabokov writes in his autobiography that he and his mother saw the letters of the alphabet in color, I explained. He says of himself that he is a painterly writer.
The Islamic Republic coarsened my taste in colors, Manna said, fingering the discarded leaves of her roses. I want to wear outrageous colors, like shocking pink or tomato red. I feel too greedy for colors to see them in carefully chosen words of poetry. ~ Azar Nafisi
Manna quotes by Azar Nafisi
Our Lord Jesus is ever giving, and does not for a solitary instant withdraw his hand. As long as there is a vessel of grace not yet full to the brim, the oil shall not be stayed. He is a sun ever-shining; he is manna always falling round the camp; he is a rock in the desert, ever sending out streams of life from his smitten side; the rain of his grace is always dropping; the river of his bounty is ever-flowing, and the well-spring of his love is constantly overflowing. ~ Charles Spurgeon
Manna quotes by Charles Spurgeon
Charity fits the economy of scarcity, because it supports the blasphemous myth that the rich are rich because they deserve to be, and their riches are theirs to deal with as they please. With such charity, we are not worthy to tell the story of manna in the wilderness, to pretend to eat together at the Lord's Supper, or claim the Year of Jubilee as our own. ~ Michael Rhodes
Manna quotes by Michael Rhodes
Wealth should come like manna from heaven, unearned and uncalled for. Money should be like grace
a gift. It is not worth sweating and scheming for. ~ Edward Abbey
Manna quotes by Edward Abbey
ONE MAN CAN NOT LIVE WITH OUT LOVE ,
BUT ONE MAN WHO CAN NOT SAY ANYTHING FOR LOVE,
BUT SILENT LOVE REDUCING THE LOVE BONDING ~ MANNA
Manna quotes by MANNA
The study of everything that stands connected with the death of Christ, whether it be in the types of the ceremonial law, the predictions of the prophets, the narratives of the gospels, the doctrines of the epistles, or the sublime vision of the Apocalypse, this is the food of the soul, the manna from heaven, the bread of life. This is "meat indeed" and "drink indeed. ~ John Angell James
Manna quotes by John Angell James
Did you really think I didn't see that watch? ~ Manna Francis
Manna quotes by Manna Francis
It is naive to think that success will drop into our lives like manna from heaven ~ Sunday Adelaja
Manna quotes by Sunday Adelaja
The English Puritans were obsessed with the idea of providence, and that word is more ominous to them than it sounds to us. It means care, but it also means control. It does not just mean that God will provide. It means that God will provide whatever the hell God wants and the Puritans will thank him for it even if He provides them with nothing more than a slow death in a long winter. It means that if they're scared and small and lowly enough He just might toss a half-eaten corncob their way. It means that the world isn't fair and it's their fault. It means that God is the sovereign, the authority. It means manna from heaven, but it also means bow down. ~ Sarah Vowell
Manna quotes by Sarah Vowell
I'm a middle-bracket person with a middle-bracket spouse / And we live together gaily in a middle-bracket house. / We've a fair-to-middlin' family; we take the middle view; / So we're manna sent from heaven to internal revenue. ~ Phyllis McGinley
Manna quotes by Phyllis McGinley
Loki shook his head in the darkness. That's confusing, he thought, "And what is a Pennsylvania?"

"It's a large region of land. They say that this is where revolutions begin and nations are born. They say that this is a place where steel rules all and there is something called a cheese-steak sandwich that is supposed to be manna from heaven! ~ Dylan Callens
Manna quotes by Dylan Callens
Our weaponry was not dropped onto our laps one morning. It is not manna from Sinai's skies. Since Agincourt, the White man has refined & evolved the gunpowder sciences until our modern armies may field muskets by the tens of thousands! Aha!' you will ask, yes, 'But why us Aryans? Why not the Unipeds of Ur or the Mandrakes of Mauritius?' Because, Preacher, of all the world's races, our love - or rather our rapacity - for treasure, gold, spices & dominion, oh, most of all, sweet dominion, is the keenest, the hungriest, the most unscrupulous! This rapacity yes, powers our Progress; for ends infernal or divine I know not. Nor do you know, sir. Nor do I overly care. I feel only gratitude that my Maker cast me on the winning side. ~ David Mitchell
Manna quotes by David Mitchell
My Son, thou art never secure in this life, but thy spiritual armour will always be needful for thee as long as thou livest. Thou dwellest among foes, and art attacked on the right hand and on the left. If therefore thou use not on all sides the shield of patience, thou wilt not remain long unwounded. Above all, if thou keep not thy heart fixed upon Me with steadfast purpose to bear all things for My sake, thou shalt not be able to bear the fierceness of the attack, nor to attain to the victory of the blessed. Therefore must thou struggle bravely all thy life through, and put forth a strong hand against those things which oppose thee. For to him that overcometh is the hidden manna given,(1) but great misery is reserved for the slothful. ~ Thomas A Kempis
Manna quotes by Thomas A Kempis
My sermon on the meaning of the manna in the wilderness can be adapted to almost any occasion, joyful, or, as in the present case, distressing. [All sigh.] I have preached it at harvest celebrations, christenings, confirmations, on days of humiliation and festal days. ~ Oscar Wilde
Manna quotes by Oscar Wilde
Such affection and devotion, such mighty love and zeal are often far beyond me. Be merciful to me, O sweet, good, kind Jesus, and grant me, Your poor suppliant, sometimes at least to feel in Holy Communion a little of the tenderness of Your love, that my faith may grow stronger, that my hope in Your goodness may increase, and that charity, once perfectly kindled within me by tasting heavenly manna, may never fail. ~ Thomas A Kempis
Manna quotes by Thomas A Kempis
the finding of a cargo of whisky was, in a sense, like the finding by the Israelites of manna in the wilderness. And ~ Alexander McCall Smith
Manna quotes by Alexander McCall Smith
But what do I love when I love my God? Not the sweet melody of harmony and song; not the fragrance of flowers, perfumes, and spices; not manna or honey; not limbs such as the body delights to embrace. It is not these that I love when I love my God. And yet, when I love Him, it is true that I love a light of a certain kind, a voice, a perfume, a food, an embrace; but they are of the kind that I love in my inner self, when my soul is bathed in light that is not bound by space; when it listens to sound that never dies away; when it breathes fragrance that is not borne away on the wind; when it tastes food that is never consumed by the eating; when it clings to an embrace from which it is not severed by fulfillment of desire. This is what I love when I love my God. ~ Augustine
Manna quotes by Augustine
Your future includes manna. It will come. There is no sense devising future scenarios now because God will do more than you anticipate. ~ Edward T. Welch
Manna quotes by Edward T. Welch
For your information, I'm not screwing him."

"Really?" He put his hands behind his head. "Well, maybe you should be. It might put you in a better mood, at least. I see I see?"

ICIC. Insufficient Cock In Cunt.

After that, the choice was between hitting him, and leaving. The problem with Toreth, one of the many problems with him, was that he was too damn fast to land a punch on. So she left. ~ Manna Francis
Manna quotes by Manna Francis
I should never stand alone in this desert world, but that manna would drop from heaven, if I would but rise with every rising sun to gather it. ~ Margaret Fuller
Manna quotes by Margaret Fuller
Since we've ruled out another man as the explanation for all this, I can only assume something has gone wrong at Havenhurst. Is that it?"
Elizabeth seized on that excuse as if it were manna from heaven. "Yes," she whispered, nodding vigorously.
Leaning down, he pressed a kiss on her forehead and said teasingly, "Let me guess-you discovered the mill overcharged you?" Elizabeth thought she would die of the sweet torment when he continued tenderly teasing her about being thrifty. "Not the mill? Then it was the baker, and he refused to give you a better price for buying two loaves instead of one."
Tears swelled behind her eyes, treacherously close to the surface, and Ian saw them. "That bad?" he joked, looking at the suspicious sheen in her eyes. "Then it must be that you've overspent your allowance." When she didn't respond to his light probing, Ian smiled reassuringly and said, "Whatever it is, we'll work it out together tomorrow."
It sounded as though he planned to stay, and that shook Elizabeth out of her mute misery enough to say chokingly, "No-it's the-the masons. They're costing much more than I-I expected. I've spent part of my personal allowance on them besides the loan you made me for Havenhurst."
"Oh, so it's the masons," he grinned, chuckling. "You have to keep your eye on them, to be sure. They'll put you in the poorhouse if you don't keep an eye on the mortar they charge you for. I'll have to talk with them in the morning."
"No!" she bu ~ Judith McNaught
Manna quotes by Judith McNaught
Our manna trees are a copy of the magnificent plants created by Light in Paradise - but a poor copy indeed. Light's creation was topped by thousands of gracious, lacy things that swayed in the breeze and made whispering noises while they enjoyed constant communion with the Almighty. They drank of His energy and used it in such a manner as to mix the water they drank with bits of soil and with the air that men and animals breathed out. And they transformed these things into food and pure air for man and animal alike. ~ Robert J. Sawyer
Manna quotes by Robert J. Sawyer
The manna of one day was corrupt when the next day came. I must every day have fresh grace from heaven, and I obtain it only in direct waiting upon God Himself. Begin each day by tarrying before God, and letting Him touch you. Take time to meet God. ~ Andrew Murray
Manna quotes by Andrew Murray
The word of God is the manna by which our souls are nourished, Matt. 4:4. ~ Matthew Henry
Manna quotes by Matthew Henry
The obliterated place is equal parts destruction and creation. The obliterated place is pitch black and bright light. It is water and parched earth. It is mud and it is manna. The real work of deep grief is making a home there. ~ Cheryl Strayed
Manna quotes by Cheryl Strayed
I picked up scallop shells in diverse colors and sizes - warm reds and yellows; cool, stippled grays - and reflected on the diversity of God's creation, and what might be the use and meaning of his making so many varieties of a single thing. If he created scallops simply for our nourishment, why paint each shell with delicate and particular colors? And why, indeed, trouble making so many different things to nourish us, when in the Bible we read that a simple manna fed the Hebrews day following day? It came to me then that God must desire us to use each of our senses, to take delight in the varied tastes and sights and textures of his world. ~ Geraldine Brooks
Manna quotes by Geraldine Brooks
He's like a drug, Toreth thought, as Warrick broke the kiss and stood up. Except that no drugs were that good. If he could bottle it and sell it, he'd be a billionaire. ~ Manna Francis
Manna quotes by Manna Francis
...Nature becomes your teacher, and from her you will learn what is beautiful and who you are and what is your special quest in life and whither you should go...You live on manna vouchsafed to you daily, miraculously. You stretch out arms for hidden gifts, you year toward the moonbeams and the stars, you listen with new ears to bird's songs and the murmurs of trees and streams....From day to day you keep your log, your day-book of the soul, and you may think at first that it is a mere record of travel and of facts; but something else will be entering into it, poetry, the new poetry of your life, and it will be evident to a seeing eye that you are gradually becoming an artist in life, you are learning the gentle art of tramping, and it is giving you an artist's joy in creation. ~ Stephen Graham
Manna quotes by Stephen Graham
As a working actor, all I want to do is work. That's it. It's terrifying when you don't work. It's very hard when you don't work. There have been times when I've been out of work for like six months. I feel theatre to me is like manna. ~ Sandra Oh
Manna quotes by Sandra Oh
I have had great enlightenment from the writings of St. John of the Cross. When I was between seventeen and eighteen, they were my only spiritual food. But as I grew older, religious writers left me quite unmoved. I'm still like that. If I glance at a book, no matter how good and moving it is, my heart at once contracts and I read without understanding or, if I understand, I cannot meditate on it. When I'm in this state, the Bible and The Imitation come to my rescue. In them I find hidden manna, a pure and substantial food. But, above all, the Gospels help me in my prayers. They are always showing me new ways of looking at things, and I am always finding hidden and mysterious meanings in them. I understand and, by experience, I know that the Kingdom of God is within us. Jesus has no need of books or doctors of the Church to guide souls. He, the Doctor of doctors, can teach without words. I have never heard Him speak, but I know that He is within me. He guides and inspires me every moment of the day. Just when I need it, a new light shines on my problems. This happens not so much during my hours of prayer as when I'm busy with my daily work. ~ John Beevers
