I decided some time ago 'twas far better to entertain than to crave entertainment. ~ Sherry Lynn Ferguson
Lord Sidley quotes by Sherry Lynn Ferguson
18 Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting for those who belong to the Lord. 19 Husbands, love your wives and never treat them harshly. ~ Gary Chapman
Lord Sidley quotes by Gary Chapman
Dear Lord, I'm so grateful I'm still loved. ~ Vivien Leigh
Lord Sidley quotes by Vivien Leigh
God is moving powerfully in and amongst children in this hour. You will see MANY children raised up to preach, heal, prophesy, move in miracles, signs and wonders. Numbers of young children will be visited by the Lord in areas of "Divine Intelligence" and many will go to the mission field at an early age. ~ Patricia King
Lord Sidley quotes by Patricia King
Just what we need.A dull-witted lord," Constance mused. "At least he doesn't seem menacing anymore."
Just wait, old woman, and you will learn just how menacing this dull-witted lord can be, Ranulf promised. ~ Michele Sinclair
Lord Sidley quotes by Michele Sinclair
The scholar without good breeding is a pedant; the philosopher, a cynic. ~ Lord Chesterfield
Lord Sidley quotes by Lord Chesterfield
The Lord says her head must be pointed toward Golgotha."

The man was crazed. Merrick just looked at him blankly.

"Calvary," the good brother explained. "'Tis the hill where Christ was - "

"I bloody well know where Golgotha is, you idiot! I've been there! Now get out of this room before I crucify you! ~ Jill Barnett
Lord Sidley quotes by Jill Barnett
I am less to you than your ivory Hermes or your silver Faun. You will like them always. How long will you like me? Till I have my first wrinkle, I suppose. I know, now, that when one loses one's good looks, whatever they may be, one loses everything. Your picture has taught me that. Lord Henry Wotton is perfectly right. Youth is the only thing worth having. When I find that I am growing old, I shall kill myself. ~ Oscar Wilde
Lord Sidley quotes by Oscar Wilde
Christ will be master of the heart, and sin must be mortified. If your life is unholy, then your heart is unchanged, and you are an unsaved person. The Savior will sanctify His people, renew them, give them a hatred of sin, and a love of holiness. The grace that does not make a man better than others is a worthless counterfeit. Christ saves His people, not IN their sins, but FROM their sins. Without holiness, no man shall see the Lord. ~ Charles Spurgeon
Lord Sidley quotes by Charles Spurgeon
The Romans may be known for many things, but humor isn't one of them. As usual, this interpretation relies on a prima facie reading of Jesus as a man with no political ambitions whatsoever. That is nonsense. All criminals sentenced to execution received a titulus so that everyone know the crime for which they were being punished and thus be deterred from taking part in similar activity. That the wording on Jesus's titulus was likely genuine is demonstrated by Joseph A. Fitzmeyer, who notes that "if [the titulus] were invented by Christians, they would have used Christos, for early Christians would scarcely have called their Lord 'King of the Jews'."[..] the notion that a no-name Jewish peasant would have received a personal audience with the Roman governor, Pontius Pilate, who had probably signed a dozen execution orders that day alone, is so outlandish that it cannot be taken seriously. ~ Reza Aslan
Lord Sidley quotes by Reza Aslan
Whomever the Lord has adopted and deemed worthy of His fellowship ought to prepare themselves for a hard, toilsome, and unquiet life, crammed with very many and various kinds of evil. ~ John Calvin
Lord Sidley quotes by John Calvin
Thou O Lord, art my Father and Thou my Mother. Thou art the Giver of peace to my soul and very life. ~ Guru Arjan
Lord Sidley quotes by Guru Arjan
The prayer we know as "The Lord's Prayer" came from the Lord Jesus in direct response to His disciples' request: "Lord, teach us to pray." It has always fascinated me that they never asked Jesus to teach them to preach. They never asked Him to teach them to give or to witness. Perhaps, like us, the disciples were often at a loss when it came to communicating with the Almighty. ~ David Jeremiah
Lord Sidley quotes by David Jeremiah
The name 'Seventh-day Adventist' carries the true features of our faith in front and will convict the inquiring mind. Like an arrow from the Lord's quiver, it will wound the transgressors of God's law, and will lead to repentance toward God, and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. ~ Ellen G. White
Lord Sidley quotes by Ellen G. White
Lord lead us to the right places. ~ Lailah Gifty Akita
Lord Sidley quotes by Lailah Gifty Akita
Whoever is in a hurry shows that the thing he is about is too big for him. ~ Lord Chesterfield
Lord Sidley quotes by Lord Chesterfield
Now I shall go to sleep. Goodnight. ~ Lord Byron
Lord Sidley quotes by Lord Byron
And if Magdalen was waiting for her at the balcony, then she must already be with Lord Thornbeck. A pang of jealousy attacked her like a bird of prey, its talons gripping her heart. No. She stomped her foot to force her heart to listen. I will not allow jealousy to get hold of me. Magdalen was her friend, and Avelina could never have Lord Thornbeck anyway. She hurried toward the balcony. She would be joyful for Lord Thornbeck and Magdalen. So why did she have to blink away tears as she walked? When ~ Melanie Dickerson
Lord Sidley quotes by Melanie Dickerson
Giving consistent effort in the little things in day-to-day life leads to true greatness. Specifically, it is the thousands of little deeds and tasks of service and sacrifice that constitute the giving or losing of one's life for others and for the Lord. They include gaining a knowledge of our Father in Heaven and of the gospel. They also include bringing others into the faith and fellowship of his kingdom. These things do not usually receive the attention or the adulation of the world ... ~ Howard W. Hunter
Lord Sidley quotes by Howard W. Hunter
Lord Jesus, I can't, You never said I could; but You can, and always said You would. That is all I need to know. ~ Richard Dahlstron
Lord Sidley quotes by Richard Dahlstron
A week is a long time to go without bedding someone?" Marcus interrupted, one brow arching.
"Are you going to claim that it's not?"
"St. Vincent, if a man has time to bed a woman more than once a week, he clearly doesn't have enough to do. There are any number of responsibilities that should keep you sufficiently occupied in lieu of…" Marcus paused, considering the exact phrase he wanted. "Sexual congress." A pronounced silence greeted his words. Glancing at Shaw, Marcus noticed his brother-in-law's sudden preoccupation with knocking just the right amount of ash from his cigar into a crystal dish, and he frowned. "You're a busy man, Shaw, with business concerns on two continents. Obviously you agree with my statement."
Shaw smiled slightly. "My lord, since my 'sexual congress' is limited exclusively to my wife, who happens to be your sister, I believe I'll have the good sense to keep my mouth shut."
St. Vincent smiled lazily. "It's a shame for a thing like good sense to get in the way of an interesting conversation." His gaze switched to Simon Hunt, who wore a slight frown. "Hunt, you may as well render your opinion. How often should a man make love to a woman? Is more than once a week a case for unpardonable gluttony?"
Hunt threw Marcus a vaguely apologetic glance. "Much as I hesitate to agree with St. Vincent…"
Marcus scowled as he insisted, "It is a well-known fact that sexual over-indulgence is bad for the health, just as with excessive ~ Lisa Kleypas
Lord Sidley quotes by Lisa Kleypas
The great task of life is to learn the will of the Lord and then do it. ~ Ezra Taft Benson
Lord Sidley quotes by Ezra Taft Benson
Little Princess Little Lord ~ Frances Hodgson Burnett
Lord Sidley quotes by Frances Hodgson Burnett
To withdraw myself from myself has ever been my sole, my entire, my sincere motive in scribbling at all. ~ Lord Byron
Lord Sidley quotes by Lord Byron
She asked, "Are you well?"
"Yes." His voice was a deep rasp. "Are you?"
She nodded, expecting him to release her at the confirmation. When he showed no signs of moving, she puzzled at it. Either he was gravely injured or seriously impertinent. "Sir, you're…er, you're rather heavy." Surely he could not fail to miss that hint.
He replied, "You're soft."
Good Lord. Who was this man? Where had he come from? And how was he still atop her?
"You have a small wound." With trembling fingers, she brushed a reddish knot high on his temple, near his hairline. "Here." She pressed her hand to his throat, feeling for his pulse. She found it, thumping strong and steady against her gloved fingertips.
"Ah. That's nice."
Her face blazed with heat. "Are you seeing double?"
"Perhaps. I see two lips, two eyes, two flushed cheeks…a thousand freckles."
She stared at him.
"Don't concern yourself, miss. It's nothing." His gaze darkened with some mysterious intent. "Nothing a little kiss won't mend."
And before she could even catch her breath, he pressed his lips to hers.
A kiss. His mouth, touching hers. It was warm and firm, and then…it was over.
Her first real kiss in all her five-and-twenty years, and it was finished in a heartbeat. Just a memory now, save for the faint bite of whiskey on her lips. And the heat. She still tasted his scorching, masculine heat. Belatedly, she closed her eyes.
"There, now," he murmured. "All better. ~ Tessa Dare
Lord Sidley quotes by Tessa Dare
There was an old, crazy dude who used to live a long time ago. His name was Lord Buckley. And he said, a long time ago, he said, 'People
they'r e kinda like flowers, and it's been a privilege walking in your garden.' My love goes with you. ~ Robin Williams
Lord Sidley quotes by Robin Williams
Clung tightly to the Lord, faithfully following Him and obeying His commands (v. 6). ~ John F. MacArthur Jr.
Lord Sidley quotes by John F. MacArthur Jr.
You ought to know that the Lord loves you. He will make that known to you, and it will be a very private and individual experience, something you cannot explain to anyone else. ~ Boyd K. Packer
Lord Sidley quotes by Boyd K. Packer

Lord Sidley quotes by Emery Lord
They all attended Hester's church, which Dellarobia viewed as a complicated pyramid scheme of moral debt and credit resting ultimately on the shoulders of the Lord, but rife with middle managers. ~ Barbara Kingsolver
Lord Sidley quotes by Barbara Kingsolver
My dark days made me strong. Or maybe I already was strong, and they made me prove it. ~ Emery Lord
Lord Sidley quotes by Emery Lord
Let your life choices tell others of your wonderful God as you walk through life worshiping Him. ~ Elizabeth George
Lord Sidley quotes by Elizabeth George
The dome of thought, the palace of the soul. ~ Lord Byron
Lord Sidley quotes by Lord Byron
Don't worry about tomorrow, just be real good today. The Lord is right beside you, he'll guide you all the way. ~ Don Cornell
Lord Sidley quotes by Don Cornell
There has fallen a splendid tear
From the passion-flower at the gate.
She is coming, my dove, my dear;
She is coming, my life, my fate;
The red rose cries, "She is near, she is near;"
And the white rose weeps, "She is late;"
The larkspur listens, "I hear; I hear;"
And the lily whispers, "I wait." ~ Alfred Lord Tennyson
Lord Sidley quotes by Alfred Lord Tennyson
I hate unbreakable alibis--they are usually the first to crack.
--Hugo Anstead ~ Jennifer A. Girardin
Lord Sidley quotes by Jennifer A. Girardin
Young, animated, entirely off your guard, and thoughtless of consequences, Imagination took the reins; and Reason, slow-paced, though sure-footed, was unequal to the race of so eccentric and flighty a companion. How rapid was then my Evelina's progress through those regions of fancy and passion whither her new guide conducted her!-She saw Lord Orville at a ball,-and he was the most amiable of men! -She met him again at another,-and he had every virtue under Heaven! ~ Fanny Burney
Lord Sidley quotes by Fanny Burney
Someone bumped into her from behind.

"You shouldn't be daydreaming, girl."

It was Bashan. his dead fish eyes assessed her coldly. He smirked.

"My lord," Nora said and moved to go around him.

It was a good thing to say. My lord could mean anything. Good day, for instance. Or, I understand and follow your implied order. I know my place. Or it could just mean fuck you. ~ Timandra Whitecastle
Lord Sidley quotes by Timandra Whitecastle
But I have so little of any of these things! You are wise and powerful. Will you not take the Ring?"
"No!" cried Gandalf, springing to his feet. "With that power I should have power too great and terrible. And over me the Ring would gain a power still greater and more deadly." His eyes flashed and his face was lit as by a fire within. "Do not tempt me! For I do not wish to become like the Dark Lord himself. Yet the way of the Ring to my heart is by pity, pity for weakness and the desire of strength to do good. Do not tempt me! I dare not take it, not even to keep it safe, unused. The wish to wield it would be too great for my strength. I shall have such need of it. Great perils lie before me. ~ J.R.R. Tolkien
Lord Sidley quotes by J.R.R. Tolkien
Lord Foulgrin: "You must not let him see Charis as a place of learning, exploration, duties, travel, companionship, banquets, celebrations, and productive work. A low view of heaven is our ace in the hole." (conspiring to bring Fletcher down after salvation) ~ Randy Alcorn
Lord Sidley quotes by Randy Alcorn
At first sight, Paul's command that slaves obey their masters seems simply to endorse the status quo. But we need to see that what he writes here also subtly undermines it. First, it is significant that Paul chooses to address slaves at all, implying not only that they are assembled with the other Christians of the Colossian church to hear the letter being read but that they are responsible people who need to choose a certain kind of behavior. Second, Paul clearly relativizes the status of the slave's master by repeatedly reminding both slave (vv. 22, 23, 24) and master (4:1) of the ultimate "master" to whom both are responsible: the Lord Jesus Christ. Third, Paul never hints that he endorses the institution of slavery. He tells slaves and masters how they are to conduct themselves within the institution, but it is a bad misreading of Paul to read into his teaching approval of the institution itself.
