There are more reviews available than the views. ~ A. P. J. Abdul Kalam
Honeyboy Reviews quotes by A. P. J. Abdul Kalam
Probably writers should forget what it was like to write the last novel, and the one before that, and the one before that, or we should all be plumbers. It must be good to be a plumber. Everyone is happy to see you, and no one reviews your work. ~ Susan Fromberg Schaeffer
Honeyboy Reviews quotes by Susan Fromberg Schaeffer
Arise my soul, and review your deeds which have preceeded from you. Scrutinize them closely, and shed the rain of your tears, declaring openly to Christ your thoughts and deeds, so that you may be justified. ~ Andrew Of Crete
Honeyboy Reviews quotes by Andrew Of Crete
The stories of wine lords who trade wine on intimidation or food critics who trade free meals for reviews ... those are the stories of my life. I am telling the stories of my life in a true way. ~ Joe Bastianich
Honeyboy Reviews quotes by Joe Bastianich
There have been daring people in the world who claimed that Fenimore Cooper could write English, but they are all dead now. ~ Mark Twain
Honeyboy Reviews quotes by Mark Twain
I'm really proud of 'Cars.' 'Cars,' when it first came out, got probably the most mediocre reviews of a Pixar film. ~ John Lasseter
Honeyboy Reviews quotes by John Lasseter
After you have done your work - challenging as it may have been to complete - and released it in the marketplace, be not concerned with sales, reviews, critical acclaim, or anything else of the like... After you've written and published a book, you're now an AUTHOR. And that great honor can NEVER be taken away from you, no matter what. ("My Book Place," 2018) ~ Cat Ellington
Honeyboy Reviews quotes by Cat Ellington
I will only start taking book reviews seriously from the day that books are able to review readers. ~ Mokokoma Mokhonoana
Honeyboy Reviews quotes by Mokokoma Mokhonoana
The Inspector General issued six reviews and reports on actions taken based on provisions of the act. In those six reports, the IG found that not one violation of an individual's civil liberties - a total of zero - had taken place since the act was instituted. ~ Jo Bonner
Honeyboy Reviews quotes by Jo Bonner
The political topicality of my October paintings means almost nothing to me, but in many reviews it is the first or only thing that arouses interest, and the response to the pictures varies according to current political circumstance. I find this rather a distraction. ~ Gerhard Richter
Honeyboy Reviews quotes by Gerhard Richter
And while in the olden days, disgruntled readers suffered pretty much in silence, now there's Amazon. The last thing you want are myriad scathing reviews that potential readers find helpful. ~ Lisa Cron
Honeyboy Reviews quotes by Lisa Cron
I grew up in a working-class Catholic family in south Louisiana. I went to a state university. I taught literature, wrote a novel that was the novel I wanted to write, and got a couple of good reviews but no real traction. I had no idea how to get a job in TV. ~ Nic Pizzolatto
Honeyboy Reviews quotes by Nic Pizzolatto
Of course, Hollywood is still making some excellent pictures which reflect the great artistry that made Hollywood famous throughout the world, but these films are exceptions, judging from box office returns and press reviews. ~ Pola Negri
Honeyboy Reviews quotes by Pola Negri
The reviews on it, and the new novel, Honky Tonk Samurai have been awesome, though I'm of the school if you believe the good ones you got to believe the bad ones, it's been mostly good ones. The previewers seem to be very happy and excited about it. I know I am. There are plans to continue if it does well. ~ Joe R. Lansdale
Honeyboy Reviews quotes by Joe R. Lansdale
The news today that Bush has vowed to veto any legislation that reviews the security implications of the Dubai Port World's potential management of our ports is ludicrous and the entire Democratic Party is calling him to task for it. ~ John Conyers
Honeyboy Reviews quotes by John Conyers
Thermo Burn Reviews: Learn how the action of Thermo Burn does to the body. What its benefits and side effects. What the studies show and even what the best brands in the market like ripped extreme (see more than 220 reports in our comments).

The Thermo Burn By Shark Tank Diet has proven very effective in burning fat and can be considered the best weight loss supplement available in the market, but its requires to use with professional support!

For those who want to hit the pointers with the balance and eliminate the extra pounds, there are basically two ways: reduce energy intake through food control or increase caloric expenditure with physical exercises and other activities.

It may seem strange, but eating to burns calorie. For this you must eat foods or substances that perform this function in the body. These are called supplements. For those who want to lose weight, math is simple: you have to spend more than you consume. This can be done by reducing food intake or increasing caloric expenditure through physical activity and balanced eating.

For many it is quite difficult to resist some temptations like a beautiful chocolate bonbon or a barbecue with friends. Therefore, it is easier to spend more calories and for this you may need the help.

But do not think that taking only thermogenics and not maintaining a balanced diet will make you lose fat and lose weight. There is no MIRACLE, but we can say SCIENCE! ~ Barberton Hospital
Honeyboy Reviews quotes by Barberton Hospital
I'm at the point now where I know I'm doing something right when a movie gets mixed reviews, because then I'm not in the box. I don't want to make it too easy for people and I don't want to make it too easy for myself. I want to try something unusual. ~ Nicolas Cage
Honeyboy Reviews quotes by Nicolas Cage
While we believe there are fruitful opportunities to update and improve old rules, we do not want to set up a review process that could create a litigation morass. ~ Fred Thompson
Honeyboy Reviews quotes by Fred Thompson
People who've read my reviews know my tastes, know how I approach a book, know my background. I can write with believable authority. It doesn't mean I'm always right. ~ Michael Dirda
Honeyboy Reviews quotes by Michael Dirda
I have just read your lousy review. You sound like a frustrated old man who never made a success, an eightulcer man on a four ulcer job ... I have never met you but if I do, you'll need a new nose, a lot of beefsteak for black eyes, and a supporter below. ~ Harry S. Truman
Honeyboy Reviews quotes by Harry S. Truman
After one of my plays came out, I had mixed reviews, some bad and some good. One day, it dawned on me. I thought, 'I wrote a play and he wrote a review, and that's the difference between him and me.' ~ Steve Martin
Honeyboy Reviews quotes by Steve Martin
And then they started deleting the protest reviews.
That was my line. When they started to stamp out dissent, actually to make it disappear with virtually no excuse for doing so ... that's not neglect. That's not an overwhelmed person or people trying to figure it out. That's an entity that has decided that they do not care, that they have moved on from the issue, do not see it as an issue, and is trying to avoid bad press. Or they are too far down the line to backtrack on what they've been doing and save face. They're content with their wildly inconsistent policy enough to no longer care what effect it is having on their user base.
If you try to silence dissent, then something is very, very wrong. ~ G.R. Reader
Honeyboy Reviews quotes by G.R. Reader
The game has a cleanness. If you do a good job, the numbers say so. You don't have to ask anyone or play politics. You don't have to wait for the reviews. ~ Sandy Koufax
Honeyboy Reviews quotes by Sandy Koufax
The Golden Bough captured the imagination of many artists in the early twentieth century. Eliot, certainly, was immersed in it, discussing it familiarly in his graduate school papers and book reviews and constantly alluding to it in his art. The most straightforward advice he offers to readers of The Waste Land (given in the notes to the poem) is, in paraphrase, that any serious reader of the poem must take into consideration modern scholarship in myth and anthropology, especially Frazer Golden Bough and Jessie Weston From Ritual to Romance. The poet says that he is indebted to this scholarship for his title, his plan, his symbolism, and many of his references to ancient religion and society. His claim about the title, taken from the monomyth of Frazer and Weston, his claim about the symbolism, associated with the birth-death-rebirth cycles of the myths, and his claim about the miscellaneous undergirding references have been discussed by Grover Smith and other scholars. We wish to focus more on Eliot's claim about being indebted to Frazer for the plan of the poem. We believe it refers, at least in part, to Frazer's use of the comparative method and to his practice of assembling many perspectives and allowing these perspectives to make his point.

It must be noted at once that Eliot was quite selective in his admiration of Frazer. For example, he did not admire Frazer's positivism. Frazer put his faith in science and celebrated what he called the evolution from magic ~ Jewel Spears Brooker
Honeyboy Reviews quotes by Jewel Spears Brooker
I have little or no concern at how people interpret my writing, my only concern is to write it. ~ Robert Black
Honeyboy Reviews quotes by Robert Black
There are times when I need to dig up the diagram for a type of satellite dish, for instance, but I just can't seem to phrase this need correctly. As a result, I'm inundated by advertising for satellite television and people's online customer reviews of such services when, in fact, I was only trying to figure out what a certain component is called. ~ Victor LaValle
Honeyboy Reviews quotes by Victor LaValle
I'm used to bad reviews. ~ Roger Moore
Honeyboy Reviews quotes by Roger Moore
We were very grateful that the response [for Jessica Jones series] has been so positive. If we get a great review, then more people watch it. It's so exciting! ~ Krysten Ritter
Honeyboy Reviews quotes by Krysten Ritter
How nice it would be to breeze through life and just brush things off. I never read reviews because I hate to lose more than I like to win; I experience negative emotions far greater than positive ones. ~ Catherine Tate
Honeyboy Reviews quotes by Catherine Tate
A writer without reviews is like racing car without an engine - shows lots of potential but it's never going anywhere.

Lillian White ~ Lillian White
Honeyboy Reviews quotes by Lillian White
My movies were not reaping the kind of emotional rewards that I wanted. I wanted them to be appreciated and they weren't. I didn't want the reviews to say, "Mel Brooks has made another movie," and you get the title somewhere in the second paragraph. ~ Mel Brooks
Honeyboy Reviews quotes by Mel Brooks
There's a gap between what I want to do, what I do on camera, and what gets edited. Right? So the goal is to try and close the gaps. What's the biggest compliment is if I read a review and it's exactly what I wrote down in my diary before ever filming it. That's really cool. That's the biggest signifier of closing the gaps. ~ Matthew McConaughey
Honeyboy Reviews quotes by Matthew McConaughey
In general, I've been treated well by reviews, and there are times when I haven't. The truth is that I've come to feel like I'm better off without reading them. ~ Jake Kasdan
Honeyboy Reviews quotes by Jake Kasdan
I've been surprised at how much an unknown like myself can accomplish just by reaching out to people and pleading my case. Quotes for the book cover, reviews and interviews, readings and radio appearances - all this by simply moving ahead and making contact with folks I thought might enjoy the writing. ~ Patrick DeWitt
Honeyboy Reviews quotes by Patrick DeWitt
I write mostly positive reviews. I don't write about places that don't interest me. ~ Jonathan Gold
Honeyboy Reviews quotes by Jonathan Gold
I'd known enough flush times and lean ones to understand that money came and went. And that one day I'd also lose my looks, my seemingly boundless energy and maybe the ability to catch the eye of an attractive man and the audacity to Rollerblade. My name would be forgotten. So would bad reviews, and good ones. But loving a child is something that lasts. Long after all the rest is gone, that's what endures. ~ Joyce Maynard
Honeyboy Reviews quotes by Joyce Maynard
I don't read good reviews. I like to know what percentages are going on. When Sony sends out something saying that people are liking the movie, I like to know that, but I don't actually sit and read the good stuff. ~ Evan Goldberg
Honeyboy Reviews quotes by Evan Goldberg
(...) the so-called democratization of reviews means the lowering of standards, and that subject knowledge, history and critical context are at risk of being lost in favour of people who only know how to write in attention-seeking soundbites. ~ Bernardine Evaristo
Honeyboy Reviews quotes by Bernardine Evaristo
When my stories were translated into other languages and received good reviews in the international press and won prizes, some Arab festivals and newspapers began to take an interest in what I had produced. This sudden Arab interest is a form of hypocrisy and nonsense. ~ Hassan Blasim
Honeyboy Reviews quotes by Hassan Blasim
Movements in literature were not caricatures - in the sense that they actually functioned as an ideology in politics does. As now a monopolistic ideology in politics prevails in the literature as well a single movement prevails: that of networking as a literary quality. Quality = networking is the magic formula: take a Krijn Peter Hesselink, never managed to score a positive review but reviews are old news: it is only referential authority trickling down from that network pyramid that counts. Thus, nowadays its perfectly possible to be on top of the Pyramid without ever getting a positive review, or - even worse - I even see people rising in literary ranks that have never written any books at all. Ergo, your point that another ideology would make a 'caricature' of literary history is exactly the same reasoning used by neoliberals to deconstruct any political change: another ideology? Impossible, because they no longer exist, only we still exist.

In this way you get a pyramid shape you also see in popular music. It's still the bands from the 70's and 80's who earn the big money. New talent can't really play ball anymore. This of course embedded in a sauce of eternal talent shows, because the incumbent males have to just keep pretending they are everyone's benefactors. In the literature its the same: it is still Pfeijffer that gets the large sums of money from the Foundation of Literature, and it's still Samuel Vriezen pretending that that doesn't matter.

Honeyboy Reviews quotes by Martijn Benders
I like it when shows end intentionally, and Review, especially, has such a long form narrative that it feels like you need to give it a thoughtfully constructed finale. ~ Andy Daly
Honeyboy Reviews quotes by Andy Daly
I don't understand exactly what's going on, but Goodreads shouldn't be deleting reviews, period. People are smart enough to look at them on their own and make up their mind, and deleting reviews undermines the integrity of the site. ~ Brett J. Talley
Honeyboy Reviews quotes by Brett J. Talley
I don't take reviews very seriously, but in their totality I think they are representative of how the audience feels, and of what their reaction is. There's always one guy who doesn't get it. ~ David Zucker
Honeyboy Reviews quotes by David Zucker
He had started out the way nearly all writers do, and I'd seen it a hundred times--amateurs transformed into gibbering wrecks by actually being published; what once they'd done for fun ruined forever by the burden of expectation, the hope of sales and good reviews and riches, hobbyists turned authors made bitter by the knowledge that they'd missed their main chance. ~ Colin Bateman
Honeyboy Reviews quotes by Colin Bateman
It is advantageous to an author that his book should be attacked as well as praised. Fame is a shuttlecock. If it be struck at one end of the room, it will soon fall to the ground. To keep it up, it must be struck at both ends. ~ Samuel Johnson
Honeyboy Reviews quotes by Samuel Johnson
I was so long writing my review that I never got around to reading the book. ~ Groucho Marx
Honeyboy Reviews quotes by Groucho Marx
In the past few years, more and more passionate debates about the nature of SFF and YA have bubbled to the surface. Conversations about race, imperialism, gender, sexuality, romance, bias, originality, feminism and cultural appropriation are getting louder and louder and, consequently, harder to ignore. Similarly, this current tension about negative reviews is just another fissure in the same bedrock: the consequence of built-up pressure beneath. Literary authors feud with each other, and famously; yet genre authors do not, because we fear being cast as turncoats. For decades, literary writers have also worked publicly as literary reviewers; yet SFF and YA authors fear to do the same, lest it be seen as backstabbing when they dislike a book. (Small wonder, then, that so few SFF and YA titles are reviewed by mainstream journals.) Just as a culture of sexual repression leads to feelings of guilt and outbursts of sexual moralising by those most afflicted, so have we, by denying and decrying all criticism that doesn't suit our purposes, turned those selfsame critical impulses towards censorship.

Blog post: Criticism in SFF and YA ~ Foz Meadows
Honeyboy Reviews quotes by Foz Meadows
We have learnt a lesson: words written in books, all of them, are lies. There are no exceptions. Words written on papers are all deceitful.
If we put it in a more proper manner, counting non-fiction works, then things like documents, reports, and reviews that are recorded are also deceitful.
There's nothing but deceit.
Don't believe in the for-sale literature. ~ NisiOisiN
