Homer Lea quotes by Homer
Excuse me," a breathy female voice came from beside her, and she lifted her head. A stunning blonde in a dress cut down to her belly button and up to her crotch hovered beside the table.
"Yes?" she asked, not certain whether to scream or laugh.
"Are you Richard Addison?" the woman breathed, ignoring Sam.
Rick blinked. "Oh, me. I thought you were talking to her. Yes, I am."
"Could I have your autograph?"
"Certainly. Do you have a pen?" The woman held out a napkin and a pen, and Rick signed his name. "There you go."
"How about your phone number?" The woman gave a low giggle, but pressed the napkin back into Rick's hand.
Sam would have stood, but Rick kicked her under the table. "Ouch," she grumbled, glaring at him.
"I'm sorry, but I don't give out my phone number."
"Are you sure?" Belly Button Girl licked her lips.
"If I might make a comment," Rick continued, granting her a warm smile, though Sam noted that his eyes remained cool and untouched, "I'm a bit occupied right now, enjoying the company of a very lovely young lady with whom I enjoy spending my every spare moment." He
straightened further, lowering his voice to a bare murmur. "So I thank you for your interest, but I am never in a million years going to give you my phone number. Good evening."
Her face turning scarlet under its inch of makeup, the woman turned away, departing with a sway of her perfect hips. "You're so cool," Sam breathed.
"You could at lea ~ Suzanne Enoch
Homer Lea quotes by Suzanne Enoch
Mrs. Erskine struck him as fierce and plain and haughty as one of those straight-backed red-haired girl-women in certain of the watercolors of Winslow Homer. ~ Joyce Carol Oates
Homer Lea quotes by Joyce Carol Oates
The nice thing about doing a pop opera - in the way that doing, say, 'Miss Saigon' or 'Les Miz' would be - is that, because the convention is set from the beginning that this is an opera and everything is sung, there is never that feeling of 'Why is this person bursting out into song?' because the whole thing is sung. ~ Lea Salonga
Homer Lea quotes by Lea Salonga
The man does better who runs from disaster than he who is caught by it. ~ Homer
Homer Lea quotes by Homer
If something's hard to do, then it's not worth doing. ~ Homer
Homer Lea quotes by Homer
All strangers and beggars are from Zeus, and a gift, though small, is precious. ~ Homer
Homer Lea quotes by Homer
Money can be exchanged for goods and services! ~ Homer
Homer Lea quotes by Homer
At Achilles tomb, O fortunate youth, to have found Homer as the herald of your glory! ~ Alexander The Great
Homer Lea quotes by Alexander The Great
I've seen few things more depressing than the end-of-season Giants-Padres series in 2001 in which Barry Bonds hit his 68th homer of the year while a .227-hitting, rapidly fossilizing Rickey Henderson staggered like a delirious marathoner toward 3,000 hits. ~ Stephen Rodrick
Homer Lea quotes by Stephen Rodrick
I always knew that I wanted to work and I knew I wanted to be a singer and an actor. I knew that every choice I made would help me get to that point. So the better the choices I made, the more of a chance I would have to get to where I wanted to be. ~ Lea Michele
Homer Lea quotes by Lea Michele
τέτλαθι δή, κραδίη: καὶ κύντερον ἄλλο ποτ᾽ ἔτλης.

Be patient, my heart: for you have endured things worse than this before. ~ Homer
Homer Lea quotes by Homer
Oh, mother! since thy son To early death by destiny is doom'd, I might have hop'd the Thunderer on high, Olympian Jove, with honour would have crown'd My little space; but now disgrace is mine; Since Agamemnon, the wide-ruling King, Hath wrested from me, and still holds, my prize. Weeping, he spoke; his Goddess-mother heard, Beside her aged father where she sat In the deep ocean-caves: ascending quick Through the dark waves, like to a misty cloud, Beside her son she stood; and as he wept, She ~ Homer
Homer Lea quotes by Homer
We live in a world of self-deprecation, and while it's healthy to make fun of ourselves from time to time, it bothers me when I see women of all ages belittling their accomplishments because they don't want to appear boastful or overconfident. You don't see a lot of guys out there underplaying their strengths or making light of what they're good at, so why should women? While I get that there's a fine line between owning your accomplishments and reciting every line of your résumé, there is absolutely no shame in being proud of what you've managed to achieve! Own it! ~ Lea Michele
Homer Lea quotes by Lea Michele
There was something about Lea, this power or strength that lurked below the surface of her small, fragile frame. He wanted to grab that strength, roll around in it like a cat in catnip. ~ Megan Erickson
Homer Lea quotes by Megan Erickson
Rather I'd choose laboriously to bear A weight of woes, and breathe the vital air, A slave to some poor hind that toils for bread, Than reign the sceptred monarch of the dead. ~ Homer
Homer Lea quotes by Homer
An idea is only an idea if it causes unease, debate and reflection. By that standard, Thomas Homer-Dixon's concept of an 'ingenuity gap' is truly a new idea. I can think of no other new concept that so fully condenses all of the challenges we face as a human civilization than the 'ingenuity gap'. Homer-Dixon has found a way to unite all of our concerns about economics, war, population growth, complexity, etc. under a single heading. He is one of an elite group of academics who can write for a mass audience. ~ Robert D. Kaplan
Homer Lea quotes by Robert D. Kaplan
When you paint, try to put down exactly what you see. Whatever else you have to offer will come out anyway. ~ Winslow Homer
Homer Lea quotes by Winslow Homer
A generous friendship no cold medium knows,
Burns with one love, with one resentment glows;
One should our interests and our passions be,
My friend must hate the man that injures me. ~ Homer
Homer Lea quotes by Homer
I like to quote Homer Simpson: 'I'm like a chocoholic except for alcohol.' I come from a long line of alcoholics. It's funny because when I first started making records, I was at the tail end of a period of sobriety, so I somehow got this reputation as Captain Sober. ~ Moby
Homer Lea quotes by Moby
I'm not as beautiful as a model. ~ Lea Seydoux
Homer Lea quotes by Lea Seydoux
Socrates called beauty a short-lived tyranny; Plato, a privilege of nature; Theophrastus, a silent cheat; Theocritus, a delightful prejudice; Carneades, a solitary kingdom; Aristotle, that it was better than all the letters of recommendation in the world; Homer, that it was a glorious gift of nature; and Ovid, that it was favor bestowed by the gods. ~ Francis Quarles
Homer Lea quotes by Francis Quarles
Who is more real? Homer or Ulysses? Shakespeare or Hamlet? Burroughs or Tarzan? ~ Robert A. Heinlein
Homer Lea quotes by Robert A. Heinlein
It is my experience that the short path to the simple and precise English needed by a man of science lies thorough the tongues of Homer and Vergil. ~ Henry Crew
Homer Lea quotes by Henry Crew
You have the sky overhead giving one light; then the reflected light from whatever reflects; then the direct light of the sun; so that, in the blending and suffusing of these several luminations, there is no such thing as a line to be seen anywhere. ~ Winslow Homer
Homer Lea quotes by Winslow Homer
It is equally wrong to speed a guest who does not want to go, and to keep one back who is eager. You ought to make welcome the present guest, and send forth the one who wishes to go. ~ Homer
Homer Lea quotes by Homer
There is a fullness of all things, even of sleep and love. ~ Homer
Homer Lea quotes by Homer
[But] age, the common enemy of mankind, has laid his hand upon you; would that it had fallen upon some other, and that you were still young. ~ Homer
Homer Lea quotes by Homer
Harp of the North, farewell! The hills grow dark,
On purple peaks a deeper shade descending;
In twilight copse the glow-worm lights her spark,
The deer, half seen, are to the covert wending.
Resume thy wizard elm! the fountain lending,
And the wild breeze, thy wilder minstrelsy;
Thy numbers sweet with nature's vespers blending,
With distant echo from the fold and lea,
And herd-boy's evening pipe, and hum of housing bee. ~ Walter Scott
Homer Lea quotes by Walter Scott
Ruin, eldest daughter of Zeus, she blinds us all, that fatal madness - she with those delicate feet of hers, never touching the earth, gliding over the heads of men to trap us all. She entangles one man, now another. ~ Homer
Homer Lea quotes by Homer
Going home, it's what everybody's trying to do from the day they're born to the day they die, but going home together - that's marriage. ~ Fannie Heaslip Lea
Homer Lea quotes by Fannie Heaslip Lea
Content to follow when we lead the way. ~ Homer
Homer Lea quotes by Homer
The curfew tolls the knell of parting day, The lowing herd winds slowly o'er the lea, The ploughman homeward plods his weary way, And leaves the world to darkness and to me. ~ Thomas Gray
Homer Lea quotes by Thomas Gray
All literature up to today is sexist. The Muses never sang to the poets about liberated women. It's the same old chanson from the Bible and Homer through Joyce and Proust. ~ Allan Bloom
Homer Lea quotes by Allan Bloom
A book is sent out into the world, and there is no way of fully anticipating the responses it will elicit. Consider the responses called forth by the Bible, Homer, Shakespeare - let alone contemporary poetry or a modern novel. ~ Chaim Potok
Homer Lea quotes by Chaim Potok
Obviously, I am a huge Matt Morrison fan, and I am a big Lea Michele fan because I know those guys from way back. ~ Aaron Lazar
Homer Lea quotes by Aaron Lazar
I think that if an audience is truly appreciative of a performance, they will show it. Sometimes though, there are little differences, and there are audiences that are very reserved even though they are enjoying the show. ~ Lea Salonga
Homer Lea quotes by Lea Salonga
The only way to measure our progress is to read about what this country used to be. ~ Roger Lea MacBride
Homer Lea quotes by Roger Lea MacBride
The sort of words a man says is the sort he hears in return. ~ Homer
