No wild beasts are so deadly to humans as most Christians are to each other. ~ Ammianus Marcellinus
Christian Hypocrisy quotes by Ammianus Marcellinus
Like your marriage, everything in the universe is trying to find its orbit. In the midst of this constant readjustment, both partners should be able to go to bed knowing that neither one is going to abandon a wounded, or struggling marriage. There is a comforting reassurance being with someone who keeps their promise.

Christian Hypocrisy quotes by Michael Ben Zehabe
If I, being what I am, can consider that I am in some sense a Christian, why should the different vices of those people in the next pew prove that their religion is mere hypocrisy and convention? ~ C.S. Lewis
Christian Hypocrisy quotes by C.S. Lewis
Even a child could see the division between what the Galileans [i.e., Christians] say they believe and what, in fact, they do believe, as demonstrated by their actions. A religion of brotherhood and mildness which daily murders those who disagree with its doctrines can only be thought hypocrite, or worse. ~ Gore Vidal
Christian Hypocrisy quotes by Gore Vidal
May the Lord revive the crushed spirit. ~ Lailah Gifty Akita
Christian Hypocrisy quotes by Lailah Gifty Akita
I am walking toward a bright light and the nearer I get the brighter it is. ~ Dwight L. Moody
Christian Hypocrisy quotes by Dwight L. Moody
At Christmastime, the whole Christian world stands still to celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Christmas cannot be cut out of the calendar nor out of the heart of the world - it is the supreme festive season of mirth and gladness. Love for God and one another should be the Christmas theme. Such was the divine announcement by the heavenly host that first heralded the good tidings of great joy, 'Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace, good will toward men. ~ Franklin D. Richards
Christian Hypocrisy quotes by Franklin D. Richards
I don't release many records just as "Fennesz," so when I do, I want to plan everything in detail. It's not that I want to really lead the listener somewhere; it's more about me being satisfied with a project. ~ Christian Fennesz
Christian Hypocrisy quotes by Christian Fennesz
As a result of changes which, over the last century, have modified our empirically based pictures of the world and hence the moral value of many of its elements, the "human religious ideal" inclines to stress certain tendencies and to express itself in terms which seem, at first sight, no longer to coincide with the "christian religious ideal". ~ Pierre Teilhard De Chardin
Christian Hypocrisy quotes by Pierre Teilhard De Chardin
A woman who focuses on worshiping God will consider carefully how she is dressed, because her heart will dictate her wardrobe and appearance. ~ Elizabeth George
Christian Hypocrisy quotes by Elizabeth George
Jerusalem is old, Jerusalem is new, Jerusalem can hold Moslem, Christian, Jew. ~ Don McLean
Christian Hypocrisy quotes by Don McLean
In the year 415, the woman scientist Hypatia, head of the legendary Alexandria library, was beaten to death by Christian monks who considered her a pagan. The leader of the monks, Cyril, was canonized a saint. ~ James A. Haught
Christian Hypocrisy quotes by James A. Haught
That great Kabbilistical association known in Europe under the name of Masonry appeared suddenly in the world when the revolt against the Church had just succeeded in dismembering Christian unity. ~ Eliphas Levi
Christian Hypocrisy quotes by Eliphas Levi
Don't follow your heart-follow the One who made it! ~ Mary Kate
Christian Hypocrisy quotes by Mary Kate
We must pay a price if we are to become priceless. ~ Elizabeth George
Christian Hypocrisy quotes by Elizabeth George
Secularism should not be equated with Stalinist dogmatism or with the bitter fruits of Western imperialism and runaway industrialisation. Yet it cannot shirk all responsibility for them, either. Secular movements and scientific institutions have mesmerised billions with promises to perfect humanity and to utilise the bounty of planet Earth for the benefit of our species. Such promises resulted not just in overcoming plagues and famines, but also in gulags and melting ice caps. You might well argue that this is all the fault of people misunderstanding and distorting the core secular ideals and the true facts of science. And you are absolutely right. But that is a common problem for all influential movements.
For example, Christianity has been responsible for great crimes such as the Inquisition, the Crusades, the oppression of native cultures across the world, and the disempowerment of women. A Christian might take offence at this and retort that all these crimes resulted from a complete misunderstanding of Christianity. Jesus preached only love, and the Inquisition was based on a horrific distortion of his teachings. We can sympathise with this claim, but it would be a mistake to let Christianity off the hook so easily. Christians appalled by the Inquisition and by the Crusades cannot just wash their hands of these atrocities – they should rather ask themselves some very tough questions. How exactly did their 'religion of love' allow itself to be distorted in such a way, ~ Yuval Noah Harari
Christian Hypocrisy quotes by Yuval Noah Harari

Homer is my example and his unchristened heart. ~ William Butler Yeats
Christian Hypocrisy quotes by William Butler Yeats
If I can't find something worthwhile in my own reflection, how am I ever going to see anything worthwhile in the face of another? Maybe I can solve all of this by seeing the face of Jesus in everyone, starting with myself. ~ Craig D. Lounsbrough
Christian Hypocrisy quotes by Craig D. Lounsbrough
Peace is a state of being that is not reflective of what is transpiring around me, but is reflective of what God is doing within me. ~ Craig D. Lounsbrough
Christian Hypocrisy quotes by Craig D. Lounsbrough
American Christians have been woefully silent on important issues. I am an American citizens now, and I love this country, but I see symptoms in the United States that I saw in Austria in 1938 when the Nazi Germans were terrorizing Europe. ~ Maria Von Trapp
Christian Hypocrisy quotes by Maria Von Trapp
To me, 'Blue Like Jazz' is a quintessential American story. So many people are just like Don - raised Christian and go off to college only to abandon their beliefs in order to fit in or be accepted. ~ Marshall Allman
Christian Hypocrisy quotes by Marshall Allman
[On Christianity:] Its lip-service and its empty rites have made it the easiest of all tasks for the usurer to cloak his cruelties, the miser to hide his avarice, the lawyer to condone his lies, the sinner of all social sins to purchase the social immunity from them by outward deference to churches. ~ Ouida
Christian Hypocrisy quotes by Ouida
I had a conversation with someone the other day who said he wondered if perhaps LGBT Christians had a special role to play in teaching the church how to more thoughtfully engage issues surrounding gender and sexuality. I told him I didn't think that went far enough, that ever since the Gay Christian Network conference, I've been convinced that LGBT Christians have a special role to play in teaching the church how to be Christian. Christians who tell each other the truth. Christians who confess our sins and forgive our enemies. Christians who embrace our neighbors. Christians who sit together in our pain, and in our healing, and wait for resurrection. ~ Rachel Held Evans
Christian Hypocrisy quotes by Rachel Held Evans
The 1947 Court (Everson v. Board of Education) for the first time had used only Jefferson's metaphor - completely divorced from its context and intent. ~ David Barton
Christian Hypocrisy quotes by David Barton
He's not going to applaud us for becoming famous during our lifetimes; He's going to ask us how we used our spotlight to bring Him glory.
He's not going to ask us how many trophies and awards we received; He's going to ask us how we used our gifts to build the body of Christ. ~ Tessa Emily Hall
Christian Hypocrisy quotes by Tessa Emily Hall

One who is willing to serve three Gods, but draws the line at one wife. ~ H.L. Mencken
Christian Hypocrisy quotes by H.L. Mencken
Be ever more obedient to God and He will save you. ~ Pachomius The Great
Christian Hypocrisy quotes by Pachomius The Great
True imprisonment, Arik now realized, was not the inability to move about or go where one wished; it was the realization, acknowledgement, and ultimately the acceptance of that inability. Imprisonment was more powerful as an idea than it was a physical condition. He thought about how many people who considered themselves free were simply oblivious to their restraints. ~ Christian Cantrell
Christian Hypocrisy quotes by Christian Cantrell
A brusque whisper coaxed Phillip from slumber. Someone had called his name. The cot squeaked as he sat up and squinted at a featureless silhouette. "Who is it?"
"Rise. Quick. Bring your medicine maker." The ragged voice belonged to True Seeker.
Tasked with keeping a watchful eye on Milly, the young man would come to Phillip at this hour for only one reason. He swung his legs to the ground. With one foot going into his trousers, he took a wide step across the narrow barracks and jostled Buck's shoulder.
His friend was on his feet and half-dressed before Phillip left the building, alarm urging his feet to a gallop. No one need tell him which direction to go. He buckled his sword belt as he went. The scabbard slapped his leg with each footfall, bringing to mind a similar night not long enough ago. His stride lengthened.
This time, he would run Collins clean through. ~ April W. Gardner
Christian Hypocrisy quotes by April W. Gardner
Let there be no mistake in your mind as to the special character of the man who has come to Christ, and is a true Christian. He is not an angel, he is not a half-angelic being, in whom is no weakness, or blemish, or infirmity - he is nothing of the kind. He is nothing more than a sinner who has found out his sinfulness, and has learned the blessed secret of living by faith in Christ. What was the glorious company of the apostles and prophets? What was the noble army of martyrs? What were Isaiah, Daniel, Peter, James, John, Paul, Polycarp, Chrysostom, Augustine, Luther, Ridley, Latimer, Bunyan, Baxter, Whitefield, Venn, Chalmers, Bickersteth, M'Cheyne? What were they all, but sinners who knew and felt their sins, and trusted only in Christ? What were they, but men who accepted the invitation I bring you this day, and came to Christ by faith? By this faith they lived; in this faith they died. In themselves and their doings they saw nothing worth mentioning; but in Christ they saw all that their souls required. The invitation of Christ is now before you. If you never listened to it before, listen to it today. Broad, full, free, wide, simple, tender, kind, that invitation will leave you without excuse if you refuse to accept it. There are some invitations, perhaps, which it is wiser and better to decline. There is one which ought always to be accepted: that one is before you today. Jesus Christ is saying, "Come! Come unto Me. ~ J.C. Ryle
Christian Hypocrisy quotes by J.C. Ryle
If we would destroy the Christian religion, we must first of all destroy man's belief in the Bible. ~ Voltaire
Christian Hypocrisy quotes by Voltaire
You can't have a future until you accept the past. That doesn't mean you have to live the way you used to, but it does mean you can't deny what made you who you are. You made mistakes. Own them and move on. ~ Tammy L. Gray
Christian Hypocrisy quotes by Tammy L. Gray
Consider the death of the body in terms of God and His law. Your life, the life within you, encompasses everything within itself -- not only those whom you have lost but everything -- it includes God within itself. And if there is a God in your soul, then your soul is full, and there is no loss. And if there is a God, then there is love towards Him and towards people, towards those unfortunates who are in need of love.

If you believe that everything that has happened to us in our life has been for our own good, then that which happens to us in our death is also for our own good.

All of our misfortunes reveal to us the presence in us of the divine, of the immortal, of the self-sufficient which constitutes the foundation of our life. Death reveals to us fully our true Self. That which happens to man after his death we cannot and ought not to know. We could not live or do God's work if we knew it. If what awaits us after death were worse than what we meet with here on earth, we would prize this life even more than we do now, and there is no greater impediment to the fulfillment of God's will than concern for one's own life. If what awaits us after death were better than now, then we would scorn this life and make every effort to flee from it.

We do not know what awaits us after death, but we do know one thing without any doubt, namely, that the spiritual Being into which, according to Christian teachings, I have passed over is indissoluble, etern ~ Leo Tolstoy
Christian Hypocrisy quotes by Leo Tolstoy
God loves us the way we are, but too much to leave us that way. ~ Leighton Ford
Christian Hypocrisy quotes by Leighton Ford
Fundraising requires looking someone eye-to-eye and say, "Will you help me" and don't say another thing. Just listen to them. ~ Jeff Henderson
Christian Hypocrisy quotes by Jeff Henderson
The Greek word that Jesus said on the cross and that we interpret as
"It is finished " is the Greek
word tetelestai. Tetelestai
comes from the verb teleo, which means to bring to an end, to complete,
to accomplish.
In the times of Jesus, receipts often had the word tetelestai
written on them. This word meant that the receipt or debt was paid in full. ~ Jane Wheeler
Christian Hypocrisy quotes by Jane Wheeler
You must nurture a close walk with God through prayer, because humility's strength is grounded in God. ~ Jim George
Christian Hypocrisy quotes by Jim George
The Christian life has been nothing more and nothing less than a daily dependence on and a rediscovery of God's grace. ~ Tullian Tchividjian
Christian Hypocrisy quotes by Tullian Tchividjian
Try as we will to take the "cure" of ineffectuality; to meditate on the Taoist fathers' doctrine of submission, of withdrawal, of a sovereign absence; to follow, like them, the course of consciousness once it ceases to be at grips with the world and weds the form of things as water does, their favorite element - we shall never succeed. They scorn both our curiosity and our thirst for suffering; in which they differ from the mystics, and especially from the medieval ones, so apt to recommend the virtues of the hair shirt, the scourge, insomnia, inanition, and lament.
"A life of intensity is contrary to the Tao," teaches Lao Tse, a normal man if ever there was one. But the Christian virus torments us: heirs of the flagellants, it is by refining our excruciations that we become conscious of ourselves. Is religion declining? We perpetuate its extravagances, as we perpetuate the macerations and the cell-shrieks of old, our will to suffer equaling that of the monasteries in their heyday. If the Church no longer enjoys a monopoly on hell, it has nonetheless riveted us to a chain of sighs, to the cult of the ordeal, of blasted joys and jubilant despair.
The mind, as well as the body, pays for "a life of intensity." Masters in the art of thinking against oneself, Nietzsche, Baudelaire, and Dostoevsky have taught us to side with our dangers, to broaden the sphere of our diseases, to acquire existence by division from our being. And what for the great Chinaman was a symbol o ~ Emil M. Cioran
Christian Hypocrisy quotes by Emil M. Cioran
What the soul is in the body, let Christians be in the world. ~ Saint John Chrysostom
Christian Hypocrisy quotes by Saint John Chrysostom
The patient endurance of the saints exhausts the evil power that attacks them, since it makes them glory in sufferings undergone for the sake of the truth. It teaches those too much concerned with a life in the flesh to deepen themselves through such sufferings instead of pursuing ease and comfort; and it makes the flesh's natural weakness in the endurance of suffering a foundation for overwhelming spiritual power. For the natural weakness of the saints is precisely such a foundation, since the Lord has made their weakness stronger than the proud devil. ~ Maximus The Confessor
Christian Hypocrisy quotes by Maximus The Confessor
For above all else, the Christian life is a love affair of the heart. ~ John Eldredge
Christian Hypocrisy quotes by John Eldredge
All of Christian existence ... stands within an expectation. Its fulfillment may be sure, but its timing is unknown. ~ Luke Johnson
Christian Hypocrisy quotes by Luke Johnson
It's impossible to be a good Christian. If you think it's easy to be a good Christian, then you're not really trying hard enough. ~ John Tesh
Christian Hypocrisy quotes by John Tesh
Rabbi Kushner writes from a wealth of Jewish wisdom and pastoral devotion, but his theology is, I find, is wholly in keeping with contemporary Christian thought. So far as there is an answer to the conflict between the goodness of God and the bitterness of suffering, this is it ~ Gerald Priestland
