I'm encouraging other people, whether they're professionals or not, to use their creativity to express themselves, to get a conversation going, to get the party started, really. ~ Madonna Ciccone
Encouraging quotes by Madonna Ciccone
As you can see," Daisy said, "one glass is filled with soap water, one with clear, and one with blue laundry water. The other, of course, is empty. The glasses will predict what kind of man you will marry."

They watched as Evie felt carefully for one of the glasses. Dipping her finger into the soap water, Evie
waited for her blindfold to be drawn off, and viewed the results with chagrin, while the other girls erupted with giggles.

"Choosing the soap water means she will marry a poor man," Daisy explained.
Wiping off her fingers, Evie exclaimed good-naturedly, "I s-suppose the fact that I'm going to be m-married at all is a good thing."

The next girl in line waited with an expectant smile as she was blindfolded, and the glasses were repositioned. She felt for the vessels, nearly overturning one, and dipped her fingers into the blue water. Upon viewing her choice, she seemed quite pleased. "The blue water means she's going to marry a noted author," Daisy told Lillian. "You try next!"

Lillian gaveher a speaking glance. "You don't really believe in this, do you?"

"Oh, don't be cynical - have some fun!" Daisy took the blindfold and rose on her toes to tie it firmly around Lillian's head.

Bereft of sight, Lillian allowed herself to be guided to the table. She grinned at the encouraging cries of the young women around her. There was the sound of the glasses being moved in front of her, and she waited with h ~ Lisa Kleypas
Encouraging quotes by Lisa Kleypas
It's encouraging to watch what people will do to contribute to a love story. It's as though we universally recognize the union of souls is worth sacrificing for. ~ Donald Miller
Encouraging quotes by Donald Miller
The tragedy of government welfare programs is not just wasted taxpayer money but wasted lives. The effects of welfare in encouraging the break-up of low-income families have been extensively documented. The primary way that those with low incomes can advance in the market economy is to get married, stay married, and work - but welfare programs have created incentives to do the opposite. ~ Michael Tanner
Encouraging quotes by Michael Tanner
Everyone thinks when they start writing that they can't do it. I was lucky. My sister Delia was the most important person in terms of encouraging me. ~ Hallie Ephron
Encouraging quotes by Hallie Ephron
Don't follow your heart-follow the One who made it! ~ Mary Kate
Encouraging quotes by Mary Kate
In one way, traveling has narrowed my mind. What I have discovered is something very ordinary and unexciting, which is that humans are the same everywhere and that the degree of variation between members of our species is very slight. This is of course an encouraging finding; it helps arm you against news programs back home that show seething or abject masses of either fanatical or torpid people. In another way it is a depressing finding; the sorts of things that make people quarrel and make them stupid are the same everywhere. ~ Christopher Hitchens
Encouraging quotes by Christopher Hitchens
It's good to remember that success may be just beyond the next failure, and you'll get there, not because you're destined to, but because you're determined to. ~ Steve Goodier
Encouraging quotes by Steve Goodier
You never know how close you are to a breakthrough. It may be right around the corner. Don't quit! ~ Joyce Meyer
Encouraging quotes by Joyce Meyer
I was very driven to act from a very young age, and my parents were not only tolerant of that drive but also encouraging. ~ Claire Danes
Encouraging quotes by Claire Danes
As a church member, I am responsible for encouraging and leading my entire family to worship together in the church. ~ Thom S. Rainer
Encouraging quotes by Thom S. Rainer
A currency designed for long-term storage and investment doesn't do so well at encouraging transactions and exchange in the moment. ~ Douglas Rushkoff
Encouraging quotes by Douglas Rushkoff
I looked around the store and what I saw was not very encouraging. There were rows and rows of violent toys ... aisle after aisle of training devices for recreational slaughter. No wonder our world was such a mean and violent place ... if we teach children that killing is fun, can we really be surprised if now and then someone is smart enough to learn? ~ Jeff Lindsay
Encouraging quotes by Jeff Lindsay
My uncles and other relatives are against encouraging girls in every aspect, and that includes sports. I hardly interact with them. My parents are more open. They back me all the way. ~ Saina Nehwal
Encouraging quotes by Saina Nehwal
There are no facts, only interpretations. ~ Friedrich Nietzsche
Encouraging quotes by Friedrich Nietzsche

If I am to be known for anything, I would like it to be for encouraging Canadians, for knowing a little bit about their daily, extraordinary courage. And for wanting that courage to be recognized. ~ Romeo LeBlanc
Encouraging quotes by Romeo LeBlanc

Encouraging quotes by Kristin Cashore
Much music teaching seems more concerned with controlling the student than with encouraging the student's own impulses. ~ William Westney
Encouraging quotes by William Westney
Jesus wept, but He never complained. ~ Charles Spurgeon
Encouraging quotes by Charles Spurgeon
And so to those who suggest that we are somehow 'harming' young women by encouraging them to take charge of their health we say this: We are not harming young women by educating them. We are arming them with information that they will carry with them throughout their lives. ~ Debbie Wasserman Schultz
Encouraging quotes by Debbie Wasserman Schultz
He had been the pastor of Tate's church since Tate's boys were in high school
probably over ten years now. Tate thought he was a fair man with a good heart. It helped that his sermons were interesting and not fire and brimstone like the guy they'd had before him. Tate understood too well the repercussions of his sin. He went to church to hear about hope, to be encouraged. That was a thing Mitch seemed naturally born to
encouraging others. ~ Vannetta Chapman
Encouraging quotes by Vannetta Chapman
In crises of this sort the Dyckmanns had usually found it effective to stare into space, encouraging the long pause that might fetch the witty words, 'Well, dear, we must go.' But the Bairds were on an entirely different wavelength, and this was the fault of the Dyckmanns. With the removal of the bottles it had been the mutual impulse of the Bairds to shoot out the door, but their second thought was that they must not... (from "Dinner on the Rocks" (1954) by Dawn Powell) ~ Diana Secker Tesdell
Encouraging quotes by Diana Secker Tesdell
Let's strive to become as protective over our time with God as we are with our daily cup of brew. Let's become addicted to our "spiritual caffeine fix. ~ Tessa Emily Hall
Encouraging quotes by Tessa Emily Hall
Few things are as encouraging as the realization that things can be different and that we have a role in making them so. ~ Daniel Taylor
Encouraging quotes by Daniel Taylor
Well, at this point, it looks like the Iraqi forces are moving into the city center itself. Now they've been working on this for seven months now. The American military's been pushing them and encouraging them to really get into the city and rout ISIS. So now they're finally doing it. ~ Tom Bowman
Encouraging quotes by Tom Bowman
There were ghosts in the wind, whispers from the snow or the invisible meltwater flowing beneath. ~ Rich Shapero
Encouraging quotes by Rich Shapero
Frodo: 'It's a pity Bilbo didn't kill Gollum when he had the chance.'
Gandalf: 'Pity? It's a pity that stayed Bilbo's hand. Many that live deserve death. Some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them, Frodo? Do not be too eager to deal out death in judgment. Even the very wise cannot see all ends. My heart tells me that Gollum has some part to play in it, for good or evil, before this is over. The pity of Bilbo may rule the fate of many.' Frodo: 'I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.'
Gandalf: 'So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides that of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring, in which case you were also meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought. ~ J.R.R. Tolkien
Encouraging quotes by J.R.R. Tolkien
I do have a lot of sexual imagery in my performance. But I don't think it's ever encouraging anyone to have sex. I think I just show my own sexuality, but I don't think I've ever really written about having sex or anything like that. ~ Marilyn Manson
Encouraging quotes by Marilyn Manson
Perseverance, secret of all triumphs. ~ Victor Hugo
Encouraging quotes by Victor Hugo
The patient bird gets the worm," Skylene said with a confident nod. "That's another classic phrase."
Tangerina rolled her eyes and pulled her friend aside.
"Skylene, the phrase is 'The early bird gets the worm," she said. "It's supposed to encourage people to wake up early."
"Oh," Skylene said. "But that's not very encouraging for an early worm. ~ Chris Colfer
Encouraging quotes by Chris Colfer
Work hard to foster high levels of trust across the organization by stifling political battles, encouraging high-status people to admit and learn from mistakes, and not blaming or punishing those who come forward for help after good-effort failures. Create opportunities and spaces for people across disciplines and functions to interact informally and frequently. And use meetings or training sessions to teach people throughout the organization how to seek, find, give, and receive help effectively. ~ Anonymous
Encouraging quotes by Anonymous
Find the courage to break those agreements that are fear-based and claim your personal power. ~ Miguel Angel Ruiz
Encouraging quotes by Miguel Angel Ruiz
The fledgling and ragtag American army turned its state into a semi-plausible advantage, encouraging enlistees to wear their own "hunting shirts" to build on the reputation of frontier marksmen. ~ Joseph J. Ellis
Encouraging quotes by Joseph J. Ellis
Allan said that they would all turn up soon. And then he ended with some encouraging words about how he thought that there wasn't a single person in the world who had gone so far with such a limited intelligence as Amanda had done. And Amanda thought that was so beautifully said, that tears came to her eyes. ~ Jonas Jonasson
Encouraging quotes by Jonas Jonasson
She clung on to me desperately, whether as an affectionate gesture, a means of encouraging sympathy, or merely to maintain her balance, I was uncertain. The condition of excitement which she had reached to some extent communicated itself to me, for her flushed face rather improved her appearance, and she had lost all her earlier ill-humour. ~ Anthony Powell
Encouraging quotes by Anthony Powell
Each new year is a surprise to us. We find that we had virtually forgotten the note of each bird, and when we hear it again, it is remembered like a dream, reminding us of a previous state of existence. How happens it that the associations it awakens are always pleasing, never saddening, reminiscences of our sanest hours. The voice of nature is always encouraging. ~ Henry David Thoreau
Encouraging quotes by Henry David Thoreau
Two chimpanzees were observed maltreating a chicken: One would extend some food to the fowl, encouraging it to approach; whereupon the other would thrust at it with a piece of wire it had concealed behind its back. The chicken would retreat but soon allow itself to approach once again
and be beaten once again. Here is a fine combination of behavior sometimes thought to be uniquely human: cooperation, planning a future course of action, deception and cruelty. ~ Carl Sagan
Encouraging quotes by Carl Sagan
The only guarantee for failure is to stop trying ~ John C. Maxwell
Encouraging quotes by John C. Maxwell
Being a role model is cool and a great honor. I'm grateful to be considered one and will live up to that title by encouraging kids to eat their Wheaties and brush their teeth often. ~ Jennette McCurdy
Encouraging quotes by Jennette McCurdy
Keep fighting for animals by making compassionate, cruelty-free choices every day and encouraging those around you to do the same. ~ Bea Arthur
Encouraging quotes by Bea Arthur
Those of us who actually were working in the region at the time will point out how strongly committed we were to supporting the democratic process and encouraging elections, in spite of the fact that a war was going on in several of these countries. ~ John Negroponte
Encouraging quotes by John Negroponte
By encouraging conservation, increasing investments in clean, renewable sources of energy, and promoting increased domestic production of oil and gas, we can build a more secure future for our country. ~ Ron Lewis
Encouraging quotes by Ron Lewis
We come astonishingly close to the mystical beliefs of Pythagoras and his followers who attempted to submit all of life to the sovereignty of numbers. Many of our psychologists, sociologists, economists and other latter-day cabalists will have numbers to tell them the truth or they will have nothing ... We must remember that Galileo merely said that the language of nature is written in mathematics. He did not say that everything is. And even the truth about nature need not be expressed in mathematics. For most of human history, the language of nature has been the language of myth and ritual. These forms, one might add, had the virtues of leaving nature unthreatened and of encouraging the belief that human beings are part of it. It hardly befits a people who stand ready to blow up the planet to praise themselves too vigorously for having found the true way to talk about nature. ~ Neil Postman
Encouraging quotes by Neil Postman
My parents, man, they're just the most loving, encouraging ... They're like those people who define themselves through their role as parents before people in their own rights. ~ Riz Ahmed
Encouraging quotes by Riz Ahmed
There is no Idea Dump, no Story Central, no Island of the Buried Bestsellers; good stories seem to come quite literally from nowhere, sailing at you right out of the empty sky. ~ Stephen King
Encouraging quotes by Stephen King
Sweetness peppered with spice. A smidgen of naughtiness with the nice. Toss in some goofiness with the smart. Throw in some strength to support the heart. Cupfuls of love to even it all out and tenaciousness sprinkled in to combat the doubt. Cook over some fire to meld it all in and you've got one good woman underneath this skin. 2012 ~ Jenna Cornell
Encouraging quotes by Jenna Cornell
The prospect of death is nature's way of encouraging us to strive for greatness. ~ Antonio Kowatsch
Encouraging quotes by Antonio Kowatsch
Faith should be about encouraging all that is noble in a human being. ~ Imran Khan
Encouraging quotes by Imran Khan
If our commanders on the ground say we need more troops, I will send them. But our commanders tell me they have the number of troops they need to do their job. Sending more Americans would undermine our strategy of encouraging Iraqis to take the lead in this fight. And sending more Americans would suggest that we intend to stay forever, when we are, in fact, working for the day when Iraq can defend itself and we can leave. ~ George W. Bush
Encouraging quotes by George W. Bush
Do what you fear and your fear will die. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
Encouraging quotes by Ralph Waldo Emerson

Encouraging quotes by Marc Jacobs
To be unafraid of the judgement of others is the greatest freedom you can have. ~ Timothy Shriver
Encouraging quotes by Timothy Shriver
Music companies and buyers are not too encouraging towards independent musicians. Everyone wants to play safe and go with established names, but unless one breaks this routine, no new talent will come and survive. ~ Kailash Kher
Encouraging quotes by Kailash Kher
'Have some wine,' the March Hare said in an encouraging tone. Alice looked around the table, but there was nothing on it but tea. 'I don't see any wine,' she remarked. 'There isn't any,' said the March Hare. ~ Lewis Carroll
Encouraging quotes by Lewis Carroll
My parents were very open about what kind of talent I had. They never pushed me to become an accountant because they knew that would be just absolutely ridiculous. So they were encouraging in what I am able to do with some success. ~ Grace Slick
Encouraging quotes by Grace Slick
Listen to me, Defecates-with-Pigeons. Long before any of you came here, we dream'd of you. All the people, even Nations far to the South and the West, dreamt you before ever we saw you, - we believ'd that you came from some other World, or the Sky. You had Powers and we respected them. Yet you never dream'd of us, and when at last you saw us, wish'd only to destroy us. Then the killing started, - some of you, some of us, - but not nearly as many as we'd been expecting. You could not be the Giants of long ago, who would simply have wip'd us away, and for less. Instead, you sold us your Powers, - your Rifles, - as if encouraging us to shoot at you, - and so we did, tho' not hitting as many of you, as you were expecting. Now you begin to believe that we have come from elsewhere, possessing Powers you do not - Those of us who knew how, have fled into Refuge in your Dreams, at last. Tho' we now pursue real lives no different at their Hearts from yours, we are also your Dreams. ~ Thomas Pynchon
Encouraging quotes by Thomas Pynchon
I try to get people thinking, to consider their pasts and presents, ultimately encouraging them and giving them the tools to embrace the work of reshaping their lives. ~ John Bradshaw
Encouraging quotes by John Bradshaw
Spending only what the country can afford, rewarding savings, encouraging independence, supporting marriage: people know that these things are common sense. ~ William Hague
Encouraging quotes by William Hague
I am most interested in encouraging Christians to think and read well. Christians, of all people, should reflect the mind of their Maker. Learning to read well is a step toward loving God with your mind. It is a leap toward thinking God's thoughts after Him. ~ James W. Sire
Encouraging quotes by James W. Sire
Ministry need not be an office; it's a lifestyle devoted to attracting the lost to Christ and encouraging other believers in the faith. ~ Dwight L. Moody
Encouraging quotes by Dwight L. Moody
Everyone wants to win, but not everyone is willing to prepare to win. ~ Bobby Knight
Encouraging quotes by Bobby Knight
The biggest influence in my life has been by husband, who is also my partner in the business. We started our companies together, and he's always been there encouraging me to take on new challenges in my life. And when I do take them on, he's right beside me supporting and helping me through all the difficult time. ~ Anousheh Ansari
Encouraging quotes by Anousheh Ansari
Under the circumstances, may I suggest another means of encouraging probity in elective office. I refer to term limitations, which can serve ends beyond that of saving congressional souls. ~ James L. Buckley
Encouraging quotes by James L. Buckley
That's why we discourage parents from forcing kids to express sorrow before they are sincerely sorry. Your child may simply be learning how to act on the outside in order to avoid consequences. Begin as early as you can to foster an authentic faith, which is an "inside out" experience. Do this by encouraging honest expressions of what is really going on in the heart. Desire authenticity over pretense; openness over secrecy; and honest conversation over what you wish to hear. Be a loving, safe person with whom your kids can share what is really going on in their hearts. Sometimes all that is needed for a heart to repent is the opportunity to safely express the truth. ~ Ellen M. Schuknecht
Encouraging quotes by Ellen M. Schuknecht
My grandmother was amazing. She completely believed in me and was very encouraging. She would go to the supermarket or the butcher or wherever and tell people, 'My grandson is going to be the next Calvin Klein.' ~ Marc Jacobs
Encouraging quotes by Marc Jacobs
Such nonsense!" declared Dr Greysteel. "Whoever heard of cats doing anything useful!"
"Except for staring at one in a supercilious manner," said Strange. "That has a sort of moral usefulness, I suppose, in making one feel uncomfortable and encouraging sober reflection upon one's imperfections. ~ Susanna Clarke
Encouraging quotes by Susanna Clarke
If we want a world with greater equality, we need to acknowledge that women are less likely to keep their hands up. We need institutions and individuals to notice and correct for this behavior by encouraging, promoting, and championing more women. And women have to learn to keep their hands up, because when they lower them, even managers with the best intentions might not notice. ~ Sheryl Sandberg
Encouraging quotes by Sheryl Sandberg
Don't let the obstacles that stand on your ways towards achieving your goals ever stop you from pushing forward. ~ Lailah Gifty Akita
Encouraging quotes by Lailah Gifty Akita

Encouraging quotes by Inara Scott
The recent, single-year influx of unaccompanied minors from foreign countries into the United States is a direct result of President Obama's policies of encouraging amnesty and failing to enforce existing immigration laws. ~ James Lankford
Encouraging quotes by James Lankford
Please tell me I'm not the only one who finds it endearing and encouraging that a legendary Roman philosopher had to reassure himself that it's okay not to be Plato. ~ Elizabeth Gilbert
Encouraging quotes by Elizabeth Gilbert
Prosperity is not without many fears and distastes; and adversity is not without comforts and hopes. ~ Francis Bacon
Encouraging quotes by Francis Bacon
Peter smiled as Concheetah sashayed across the ballroom floor
Concheetah sashayed towards him, wriggling her hips, full lips in a pout, followed obediently by the tentative, Tapping Ted dressed in tight shorts and singlet. Tapping? Tapping because he always wore conspicuous, tap-dancing shoes in the club.
Was Ted going to rip up the stage as a mincing Irish dancer or maybe perform a Gene Kelly routine or the Swan Lake ballet in taps? It was terrible to imagine. Peter bit his lip at that thought, hoping he wouldn't burst into howls of laughter.
He had noted after coming to several shows, that Ted usually stood at the side of the stage ready with a drink of champagne and an encouraging word and a dry towel to mop Her Highness's face. And he always cried during the
show's finale, Abba's Dancing Queen. Poor Tapping Ted. ~ T.W. Lawless
Encouraging quotes by T.W. Lawless
When you meet someone, and you find that they are prejudiced against your kind, it might be your chance, not to confirm, but to be the one to finally change their mind. ~ Criss Jami
Encouraging quotes by Criss Jami
YOUR DREAMS WANT YOU. YOUR DREAMS LOVE YOU AS MUCH AS YOU LOVE IT. ~ Diana Rose Morcilla
Encouraging quotes by Diana Rose Morcilla
Intelligence isn't just about how many levels of math courses you've taken, how fast you can solve an algorithm, or how many vocabulary words you know that are over 6 characters. It's about being able to approach a new problem, recognize its important components, and solve it - then take that knowledge gained and put it towards solving the next, more complex problem. It's about innovation and imagination, and about being able to put that to use to make the world a better place. This is the kind of intelligence that is valuable, and this is the type of intelligence we should be striving for and encouraging. ~ Andrea Kuszewsk
Encouraging quotes by Andrea Kuszewsk
She softly presses her lips against mine and moves them gently to encourage my participation, which I happily oblige. She lightly traces her tongue along the seam of my lips, eliciting a rumbling moan from my throat and encouraging gooseflesh to spread across my torso and down my body.
She's mine…
She's all I ever wanted, and now she's mine. I open my mouth to her and allow her access so we can begin to mend and heal.
A whimper escapes her throat and crashes through my constraints, encouraging me to escalate the kiss by moving in to consume her and demand even more from her.
~Silas, Resilient~ ~ Criss Copp
Encouraging quotes by Criss Copp
The universe will always remove what is no longer serving you. ~ Gabrielle Bernstein
Encouraging quotes by Gabrielle Bernstein
Our culture is getting better and better at encouraging women to speak, but it's not doing enough to listen to what they say when they do. ~ Lilit Marcus
Encouraging quotes by Lilit Marcus
I like to hear the marching of typewriter keys, the shudder of the space bar, the metallic ding at the end of a line. Those sounds are encouraging, sounds made by someone who is interested in you and in what you're saying, someone who understands exactly what you're getting at. "Hmm," the typewriter says. And "Mmmm. I-see-I-see-I-see." And sometimes it chuckles ... ~ Helen Oyeyemi
Encouraging quotes by Helen Oyeyemi
Abraham Maslow became a towering figure in my life. He was the inspiration for me to look at psychology from a 180-degree-turnabout position. Rather than studying what was weak, infirm, or limited in clients and make an assessment based on overcoming ailments, I began looking for the highest qualities of self-actualization and encouraging clients - and ultimately readers and listeners - to seek their own innate greatness and aspire to these pinnacles. I reasoned that if some among us could be self-actualized, then so could I and anyone else who understood that it was possible. This became a major focus of my professional life and the compass I set for myself to live the principles that Maslow delineated in his writing. ~ Wayne W. Dyer
Encouraging quotes by Wayne W. Dyer
I did not understand why Alfrida looked at him with such a fiercely encouraging smile. All of my experience of a woman with men, of a woman listening to her man, hoping and hoping that he will establish himself as somebody she can reasonably be proud of, was in the future. ~ Alice Munro
Encouraging quotes by Alice Munro
By the time she'd finished with him, with a little encouraging pat and a request that he rest quiet like a good lad, there was no point in denying it: Holly Evernight would be the death of him. ~ Kristen Callihan
Encouraging quotes by Kristen Callihan
That you can never base a relationship on the hope that the other person will some day change. You are in a relationship with the person as they are today. If they want to change themselves then that's encouraging but you will never change them. ~ Russell Brand
Encouraging quotes by Russell Brand
The fact that....you categorize everything as either sexist, or racist, or homophobic, whether it is or not, and therefore harmful to you and you just can't take it, is a kind of mania, a delusion, a psychosis that we have been coddling, encouraging people to think that life should be a smooth utopia built only for them and their fragile sensibility. ~ Bret Easton Ellis
Encouraging quotes by Bret Easton Ellis
She'd been taught that pants were inappropriate for girls because they were immodest [ ... ] If women's pants were suggestive, men's were equally so, and they revealed a great deal more of what was underneath them. There was almost always a bulge
you couldn't help but notice it
and if the pants were tight, you could see practically everything. And the way men were always drawing attention to it! Touching and scratching themselves with total unselfconsciousness, as if they were alone and not in public. She'd even seen Aidan do it a few times, absent-mindedly. And yet no one accused men of being improper or of encouraging sin by reminding women of what hung between their legs. She looked at herself in the mirror, irritated suddenly by the double standard. This was how her body was made. The fact that it was well made and encased in a pair of blue jeans didn't mean she was inviting anything. ~ Hillary Jordan
Encouraging quotes by Hillary Jordan
Eve still marveled on a daily basis at the speed with which her own life had changed. A year ago, she'd been lost and flailing, and now she was found. She wanted to call it a miracle, but it was simpler than that, and a lot more ordinary; she'd met a kind and decent man who loved her. ~ Tom Perrotta
Encouraging quotes by Tom Perrotta
Compassion also brings us into the territory of mystery - encouraging us not just to see beauty, but perhaps also to look for the face of God in the moment of suffering, in the face of a stranger, in the face of the vibrant religious other. ~ Krista Tippett
Encouraging quotes by Krista Tippett
It is science that brings us an understanding of the true complexity of natural systems. The insights from the science of ecology are teaching us how to work with the checks and balances of nature, and encouraging a new, rational, limited-input, environmentally sound means of vineyard management that offers a third way between the ideologically driven approach of Biodynamics and conventional chemical-based agricultural systems. ~ Jamie Goode
Encouraging quotes by Jamie Goode
Even a smile can help a lonely soul! ~ Mary Kate
Encouraging quotes by Mary Kate
It is most cheering and encouraging for me to know that in the efforts which I have made and am making for the restoration of a righteous peace to our country, I am upheld and sustained by the good wishes and prayers of God's people. No one is more deeply than myself aware that without His favor our highest wisdom is but as foolishness and that our most strenuous efforts would avail nothing in the shadow of His displeasure. ~ Abraham Lincoln
Encouraging quotes by Abraham Lincoln
Get out of bed. Go to classes. Try to be normal, and pretty soon all that grief you carry...it gets easier. ~ Kristan Higgins
Encouraging quotes by Kristan Higgins
Each of us has his place in the world " he said. "If we cannot serve in one way there is always another. If we do what we are able a door always opens to something else. ~ Marguerite De Angeli
Encouraging quotes by Marguerite De Angeli
I'm always friendly and encouraging on set. I want people to be at their best creatively. ~ Mark Wahlberg
Encouraging quotes by Mark Wahlberg
A student never forgets an encouraging private word, when it is given with sincere respect and admiration. ~ William Lyon Phelps
Encouraging quotes by William Lyon Phelps
My mom has a very subtle way of encouraging. ~ Craig Mello
Encouraging quotes by Craig Mello
The universe will reward you for taking risks on its behalf. ~ Shakti Gawain
Encouraging quotes by Shakti Gawain
All things considered, science is the best means of understanding almost everything around us. It works well on the human scale and stands as a stark counter-point to beliefs that by their very nature refute the notion of evidence. And I would be the last person to attack people encouraging the rest of us to use our ability to be rational, thereby defending the value and the necessity of science. But I will lift a querying hand when the notion of 'science' is held to be immutable, because 'science' as such does not exist. Science is a process to be sure, a way of thinking, but what science is above all is that which scientists do, and alas, scientists are people, too. As potentially fallible, irrational, biased, greedy, in short, as flawed, as the rest of us. So, by all means defend science as a process. But don't confuse it with the very human endeavor of science as a profession. Because they're not the same thing. And this is why when some guy in a white lab-coat says 'you can trust me, I'm a scientist,' best take it with a big bucket of salt, and then say 'Fine, now show me the evidence and more to the point, show me how you got to it. ~ Steven Erikson
