Mrs. McGinty's dead..how did she die?
down on one knee..just like I
mrs. McGinty's dead..how did she die?
holding her hand out..just like I
mrs. McGinty's dead.. how did she die?
sticking her neck out..just like I ~ Agatha Christie
Childhood Game quotes by Agatha Christie
Though negotiations are a rough game, you should never allow them to become a dirty game. Once you've agreed to a deal, don't back out of it unless the other party fails to deliver as promised. Your handshake is your bond. As far as I'm concerned, a handshake is worth more than a signed contract. As an entrepreneur, a reputation for integrity is your most valuable commodity. If you try to put something over on someone, it will come back to haunt you. ~ Victor Kiam
Childhood Game quotes by Victor Kiam
The old women in black at early Mass in winter
are a problem for him. He could tell by their eyes
they have seen Christ. They make the kernel
of his being and the clarity around it
seem meager, as though he needs girders
to hold up his unusable soul. But he chooses
against the Lord. He will not abandon his life.
Not his childhood, not the ninety-two bridges
across the two rivers of his youth. Nor the mills
along the banks where he became a young man
as he worked. The mills are eaten away, and eaten
again by the sun and its rusting. He needs them
even though they are gone, to measure against.
The silver is worn down to the brass underneath
and is the better for it. He will gauge
by the smell of concrete sidewalks after night rain.
He is like an old ferry dragged on to the shore,
a home in its smashed grandeur, with the giant beams
and joists. Like a wooden ocean out of control.
A beached heart. A cauldron of cooling melt. ~ Jack Gilbert
Childhood Game quotes by Jack Gilbert
I think the most important thing I work on is just my mental approach to every day, my mental approach to the game. How to come in each and every day focused, doing what I want to do, I think that's just the biggest issue. ~ Paul Pierce
Childhood Game quotes by Paul Pierce
It's not our job to toughen our children up to face a cruel and heartless world. It's our job to raise children who will make the world a little less cruel and heartless. ~ L.R. Knost
Childhood Game quotes by L.R. Knost
Jake Roberts has a hard enough time being Jake Roberts. The truth is a brutal thing, I just hope that the kids take the time to learn about each of the wrestlers in the game, and if the kids can learn from our mistakes, that would make me a happy man. ~ Jake Roberts
Childhood Game quotes by Jake Roberts
You're not a failure, Uncle," he said, the words awkward and insufficient in his mouth. "It's only that we don't feel safe. A game has a reset button. You have infinite chances for success. Real life is awfully permanent compared to that, and a lot of religious people make it seem even more permanent - one step the wrong way, one sin too many, and it's the fiery furnace for you. Beware. And then at the same time, you ask us to love the God who has this terrible sword hanging over our necks. It's very confusing." "Ah," said Sheikh Bilal, looking melancholy, "but that's the point. What is more terrifying than love? How can one not be overwhelmed by the majesty of a creator who gives and destroys life in equal measure, with breathtaking swiftness? You look at all the swelling rose hips in the garden that will wither and die without ever germinating and it seems a miracle that you are alive at all. What would one not do to acknowledge that miracle in some way? ~ G. Willow Wilson
Childhood Game quotes by G. Willow Wilson
I can kick your head off, but I can't, like, play a stupid little video game. ~ Kelly Hu
Childhood Game quotes by Kelly Hu
I know in Britain with 'Doctor Who' all the classic actors, and the people who you'd really want to, work on the show. I like that the fact that 'Torchwood' has actors that want to be involved from the stage. It has raised our game, and I'm just happy for good actors who want to be in sci-fi shows who love the genre. ~ Burn Gorman
Childhood Game quotes by Burn Gorman
The emblem on the necktie reserved for the members of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews - The Vatican of golf - is of St. Andrew himself bearing the slatier cross on which, once he was captured at Patras, he was to be stretched before he was crucified.Only the Scots would have thought of celebrating a national game with the figure of a tortured saint. ~ Alistair Cooke
Childhood Game quotes by Alistair Cooke
Class is more important than a game. ~ Pat Summitt
Childhood Game quotes by Pat Summitt
That witch talks a big game, but she couldn't be a bigger candy-ass if she dropped her pink little undies and sat on a pile of gumdrops. ~ Danielle Paige
Childhood Game quotes by Danielle Paige
Elderly gentlemen, gentle in all respects, kind to animals, beloved by children, and fond of music, are found in lonely corners of the downs, hacking at sandpits or tussocks of grass, and muttering in a blind, ungovernable fury elaborate maledictions which could not be extracted from them by robbery or murder. Men who would face torture without a word become blasphemous at the short fourteenth. It is clear that the game of golf may well be included in that category of intolerable provocations which may legally excuse or mitigate behavior not otherwise excusable. ~ A.P. Herbert
Childhood Game quotes by A.P. Herbert
I've got to give Larry Bird his due; he was a great player. He knew the game and he was smart. ~ Dennis Rodman
Childhood Game quotes by Dennis Rodman
I just want to improve game to game and try to get better. ~ Colin Kaepernick
Childhood Game quotes by Colin Kaepernick
It's like kids playing house: 'You play the father, I'll play the mother.' You know, you dress up, you play, they pay, you go home. It's a game - acting's a game. ~ Robert Duvall
Childhood Game quotes by Robert Duvall
Welcome to life as the lowest pawn in a deadly game.' – Kizira ~ Sherrilyn Kenyon
Childhood Game quotes by Sherrilyn Kenyon
I think, immediately, that there is something wrong with us, perhaps unfixable, if my husband wouldn't think to tell me this. Sometimes I feel it's his personal game, that he's in some sort of undeclared contest for impenetrability. ~ Gillian Flynn
Childhood Game quotes by Gillian Flynn
Children are tough, though we tend to think of them as fragile. They have to be tough. Childhood is not easy. We sentimentalize children, but they know what's real and what's not. They understand metaphor and symbol. If children are different from us, they are more spontaneous. Grown-up lives have become overlaid with dross. ~ Maurice Sendak
Childhood Game quotes by Maurice Sendak
I think that comedy is a good defense for a child. Because you know childhood is a nightmare as it is. And so why not use comedy and being funny as a defense to get through your life as opposed to drugs, alcohol and good looks? Because those things are dangerous when your young. ~ Joy Behar
Childhood Game quotes by Joy Behar
What people don't think about when they think about New York is this amazing farmland that grows wonderful fruits, vegetables, seafood, game, and fowl just outside of Manhattan. ~ Daniel Humm
Childhood Game quotes by Daniel Humm
The chief cause of human errors is to be found in the prejudices picked up in childhood. ~ Rene Descartes
Childhood Game quotes by Rene Descartes
I wish I had thought of Velcro muscles myself. I didn't have to go to the gym for all those years, all the hours wedded to the iron game, as we call it. ~ Sylvester Stallone
Childhood Game quotes by Sylvester Stallone
David drives back to Björnstad. Sits in the car and cries in anger. He is ashamed. He is disgusted. With himself. For an entire hockey life he has trained a boy, loved him like a son, been loved back as a father. There is no player as loyal as Benji. No bigger heart than his. How many times has David hugged number sixteen after a game and told him that? "You are the bravest bastard I know, Benji." The bravest bastard I know. " And after all those hours in locker rooms, all those nights in the bus, all the conversations and blood, sweat and tears, the boy didn't dare tell his coach his greatest secret. It's a betrayal, David knows it's a terrible betrayal. There is no other way to explain how much a grown man must have failed for such a warrior of a boy to make him think his coach would be less proud of him if he was gay. David hates himself for not being better than his father. For that is a son's job. ~ Fredrik Backman
Childhood Game quotes by Fredrik Backman
I showed him the empty time where my memory won't go. I let him look there. He ran from me then. He ran, and I chased him. But only to the edge of the marsh. Because it's a game. And I'm going to win. ~ Mark Lawrence
Childhood Game quotes by Mark Lawrence
Politics is the best game in town. ~ Selwyn Lloyd
Childhood Game quotes by Selwyn Lloyd
A game is worth playing if you stand a chance at winning. ~ V.E. Schwab
Childhood Game quotes by V.E. Schwab
I've had people say to me, "Well, how do I start collecting artworks?" Well, you start by buying. Buy what you like, buy what you can afford - and I'm not just saying that because I'm a dealer. You can't be so paralyzed to where you keep saying, "I've got to learn more." The best way to learn is to go home and actually put something on the wall. Then you've got an investment. Then you're living with it. Then you're in the game. ~ Larry Gagosian
Childhood Game quotes by Larry Gagosian
Soul Abuse is the destruction of a victim's awareness of the strength within their soul. It stems from the abuser's intention to corrupt another's understanding of their own significance. ~ Lorraine Nilon
Childhood Game quotes by Lorraine Nilon
The biology of potential illness arises early in life. The brain's stress-response mechanisms are programmed by experiences beginning in infancy, and so are the implicit, unconscious memories that govern our attitudes and behaviours toward ourselves, others and the world. Cancer, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis and the other conditions we examined are not abrupt new developments in adult life, but culminations of lifelong processes. The human interactions and biological imprinting that shaped these processes took place in periods of our life for which we may have no conscious recall.

Emotionally unsatisfying child-parent interaction is a theme running through the one hundred or so detailed interviews I conducted for this book. These patients suffer from a broadly disparate range of illnesses, but the common threads in their stories are early loss or early relationships that were profoundly unfulfilling emotionally. Early childhood emotional deprivation in the histories of adults with serious illness is also verified by an impressive number of investigations reported in the medical and psychological literature. In an Italian study, women with genital cancers were reported to have felt less close to their parents than healthy controls. They were also less demonstrative emotionally. A large European study compared 357 cancer patients with 330 controls. The women with cancer were much less likely than controls to recall their childhood homes with positive feel ~ Gabor Mate
Childhood Game quotes by Gabor Mate
Are there things about yourself which you have never told anyone? Way back upon the creaky floors of your childhood, in your solitude, the shadows of your private mind, the things you've done and said and thought that compound and contain you: shameful things, sexual things, often solitary acts, but sometimes not, sometimes agonizing stabs of cruelty you've inflicted on people you love, or the moments where reality itself seemed to tear as they looked into your eyes and told you 'you are nothing'. And for a moment you stand there adjusting to the pain, the pain that someone could say that to you, and what that must mean about who you are. ~ Russell Brand
Childhood Game quotes by Russell Brand
The political spin in Washington is revolting, just revolting. It's a callous political game. ~ Rob Bishop
Childhood Game quotes by Rob Bishop
This is most definitely not a game anymore. This woman ..., she owns me. ~ Stylo Fantome
Childhood Game quotes by Stylo Fantome
We want the world to focus on children whose lives have been devastated by AIDS. The millions of children who are missing their parents; their childhood, their future but most importantly, they are missing YOU. Everyone can make a real difference. Your voice is needed in a global movement that can change their world. ~ Pierce Brosnan
Childhood Game quotes by Pierce Brosnan
Isn't cricket supposed to be a team sport? I feel people should decide first whether cricket is a team game or an individual sport. ~ Sachin Tendulkar
Childhood Game quotes by Sachin Tendulkar
The first album I ever bought with my own money was 'Ten.' Every single song reminds me of my childhood. ~ Aaron Paul
Childhood Game quotes by Aaron Paul
Clothes are a better place for girls to keep their histories than stories. Stories betray girls by saying what we really were according to the rules of some game we had never agreed to play. Stories are about the painful aporia of having to both appear and exist, the things done to us, what we are trying to cover up by getting dressed. But if we kept our histories in clothes, these were the annals only of our own actualization and no one would put in quotation marks the bad things the world had said our way as we walked by on the streets. ~ Anne Boyer
Childhood Game quotes by Anne Boyer
People who come into our lives for a season are the souls who show up whenever you forget how to play the game called, 'Life.' They enter your life with a sole purpose to help you define the goals so that you come out of it victorious.

When they teach you the basics and set a solid foundation for you, they walk out of your game choosing not to be your opponent but stand at a distance just to see you win.

Whenever you forget the rules, they come back, again and again, to remind you the rules of the games and to make sure that you don't lose, in any case. ~ Shreya Naik
Childhood Game quotes by Shreya Naik
Since the beginning, I always loved the game. When you grow up in Montreal, one day you want to be a professional hockey player. When I was six or seven, I knew that was what I wanted. ~ Mario Lemieux
Childhood Game quotes by Mario Lemieux
Do you realize Fischer almost never has any bad pieces? He exchanges them, and the bad pieces remain with his opponents ~ Yuri Balashov
Childhood Game quotes by Yuri Balashov
It is real, all of it, he thought, the wars, the intrigues, the great bloody game, and me in the center of it ... me, the dwarf, the monster, the one they scorned and laughed at, but now i hold it all, the power, the city, the girl. this was what i was made for, and gods forgive me, but i do love it ... and her. and her. (tyrion lannister) ~ George R R Martin
Childhood Game quotes by George R R Martin
I was very pleased that the positive things about me and my game outshone the aggressive style of play I use. I would never tone that down, because I believe in that style of play, and I believe that you can play rough on the court and still be a good sport. ~ Sue Wicks
Childhood Game quotes by Sue Wicks
There should always be an end game, or else all you are doing is practicing for an opportunity for which you have no idea of what it is or what it will even look like. ~ Carlos Wallace
Childhood Game quotes by Carlos Wallace
Instead of learned young people we have donkeys with University degrees. Instead of future leaders we have mollusks with expensive blue jeans and phony revolutionaries with ski masks. And do you know what? Maybe this is another reason why our Moslem invaders have such an easy game. ~ Oriana Fallaci
Childhood Game quotes by Oriana Fallaci
Historians once assumed that when childhood mortality was high, people must not have loved their children very much; it would have been too painful. Research has since proved that assumption wrong. ~ Jill Lepore
Childhood Game quotes by Jill Lepore
The reality is it's still in our hands. We have to play four real good games against the Angels. If we take three of four we're still two back and then we'd need help. We'd still be breathing, but we'd need help. We'll shoot all our bullets to try and win that game (Monday) and worry about the next day when we get there. ~ Ken Macha
Childhood Game quotes by Ken Macha
When we strive to remove all risk from childhood we also remove the foundations of a rational adulthood, and we eliminate the very experiences that will help kids grow up to be the empowered, creative, brave problem-solvers that they can and must be. ~ Gever Tulley
Childhood Game quotes by Gever Tulley
I love this game, I love this sport, I love this league. Why don't I get my own team? (English Premiership football club) ~ Roman Abramovich
