To us children he (Mr Ewing) was our very own 'Mr Chips' and invariably we would each receive half a crown whenever we encountered him on his afternoon walk. If we were particularly lucky, he would send us to the 'Big House' for ice-cream – a rare treat in the early 1950s ~ Bill Scott
Bill Scott quotes by Bill Scott
It is essential that there should not only be a limit on campaign spending but it should be required to say where that money is spent and how it is spent. I think there has been more abuse in campaign spending, actually, than in campaign contributors. ~ Bill Scott

Bill Scott quotes by Bill Scott
Literally every department of state government has gone through, or is in a period of, chaos. Not just fiscal chaos, but certainly as we saw in the Department of Children and Family Services and State Fair Agency and many of Walker's departments, there is absolute chaos. ~ Bill Scott
Bill Scott quotes by Bill Scott
Whether or not we can save Lake Michigan, whether or not we can avoid a breakdown in our criminal justice system are more important than whether or not I'm going to be governor. ~ Bill Scott
Bill Scott quotes by Bill Scott

So much of comedy is feeling comfortable with the point of view coming at you. So I understand it. There's people who I find hilarious now, but the first couple of times I saw 'em, I was like "What is this? I don't get it at all." ~ Scott Aukerman
Bill Scott quotes by Scott Aukerman

His fingertips moved soft and warm across the lightning crack that marred my cheek. "The Grand Canyon was carved by a river. It sliced through the rock, revealing layer upon layer of beauty. Beauty that couldn't be seen until the earth was cut open. One little sliver of water…"
"Evan…"
"One little sliver." He traced the ragged seam down to my chin. "The majesty of the Canyon is that depth. All that beauty lay buried for years until the river cut it open. Then all was revealed. ~ Emma Scott

The following [addition to the Bill of Rights] would have pleased me: The people shall not be deprived or abridged of their right to speak, to write, or otherwise to publish anything but false facts affecting injuriously the life, liberty or reputation of others, or affecting the peace of the [United States] with foreign nations. ~ Thomas Jefferson
Bill Scott quotes by Thomas Jefferson

To the year, the day, the hour
You've been a lifelong country boy
Along with Lily, your flower
And Robin ... that's the name of a bird
And Dawn ... that says it all ~ John Walter Bratton

Take responsibility for the things you build and invent. ~ Bill Joy
Bill Scott quotes by Bill Joy
The worst imposition of all was to be instructed to take on some costly, long-standing obligation to the crown. Such was the fate of Bess of Hardwick's husband, the sixth Lord Shrewsbury. For sixteen years he was required to act as jailer to Mary, Queen of Scots, which in effect meant maintaining the court of a small, fantastically disloyal state in his own home. ~ Bill Bryson
Bill Scott quotes by Bill Bryson
I'd love to become like Bill Murray, who was so funny on 'Saturday Night Live' and has gone on to do some of the landmark comedies people like. And then to add this whole other phase to his career with 'Lost in Translation' and 'Rushmore.' I always felt to be able to have something similar to that would be great. ~ Will Ferrell
Bill Scott quotes by Will Ferrell
The hardest single thing you do is get the bloody screenplay right. ~ Ridley Scott
Bill Scott quotes by Ridley Scott
You know I'm old in some ways-in others-well, I'm just a little girl. I like sunshine and pretty things and cheerfulness-and I dread responsibility. ~ F Scott Fitzgerald
Bill Scott quotes by F Scott Fitzgerald
Those who restrict themselves to mere words limit their gift, and may unintentionally lead believers to pride by increasing knowledge without an increased awareness of God's presence and power. It's in the trenches of Christlike ministry that we learn to become totally dependent upon God. Moving in the impossible through relying on God short-circuits the development of pride. ~ Bill Johnson
Bill Scott quotes by Bill Johnson
I would be terrified if Bill Maher was like, 'Hey, do you want to come on the show?' I would be like, 'Oh, God.' It would completely terrify me, even though I'm such a junkie for the show. ~ Constance Zimmer
Bill Scott quotes by Constance Zimmer
One of the reasons my ex-husband and I broke up is that he stopped eating my food. ~ Jill Scott
Bill Scott quotes by Jill Scott
When a man has not a good reason for doing a thing, he has one good reason for letting it alone. ~ Walter Scott
Bill Scott quotes by Walter Scott
After I played him for the first time, I said 'Let's see. He's four or five inches taller. He's 40 or 50 pounds heavier. His vertical leap is at least as good as mine. He can get up and down the floor as well as I can. And he's smart. The real problem with all this is I have to show up. ~ Bill Russell
Bill Scott quotes by Bill Russell
Speaking of human computers, there is a guy named Art Benjamin, he's a human calculator. He says it's a skill he learned as a kid. Now he's a math professor at Harvey Mudd. He can find the square root of a six digit number in a few seconds. Practice. ~ Bill Nye
Bill Scott quotes by Bill Nye

Bill Scott quotes by F Scott Fitzgerald
If one story becomes too hot, then you can't forget it. As an actor, you want to remain fluid. ~ Andrew Scott
Bill Scott quotes by Andrew Scott
So severe is the crisis that in 2011 Governor Rick Snyder persuaded the state legislature to grant him broad and unprecedented powers to take control of fiscally unstable local governments and to abrogate union agreements, a highly controversial maneuver that smacks of malevolent paternalism more than sound public management. ~ Scott Martelle
Bill Scott quotes by Scott Martelle
Everything pales in comparison to deer. ~ Bill Vaughan
Bill Scott quotes by Bill Vaughan
Benny McClenahan arrived always with four girls. They were never quite the same ones in physical person but they were so identical one with another that it inevitably seemed they had been there before. I have forgotten their names - Jaqueline, I think, or else Consuela or Gloria or Judy or June, and their last names were either the melodious names of flowers and months or the sterner ones of the great American capitalists whose cousins, if pressed, they would confess themselves to be. ~ F Scott Fitzgerald
Bill Scott quotes by F Scott Fitzgerald
He was good looking, "sort of distinguished when he wants to be", had a line, and was properly inconstant. In fact, he summed up all the romance that her age and environment led her to desire ~ F Scott Fitzgerald
Bill Scott quotes by F Scott Fitzgerald
How can something that doesn't exist in physical
form have influence over the things that do? ~ Scott Adams
Bill Scott quotes by Scott Adams
Lots of talk lately about the GREAT AMERICAN NOVEL that seems to be exclusively masculine. And how many of the characters in the GENIUS BOOKS are likable? Is Holden Caulfield likable? Is Meursault in The Stranger? Is Henry Miller? Is any character in any of these system novels particularly likable? Aren't they usually loathsome but human, etc., loathsome and neurotic and obsessed? In my memory, all the characters in Jonathan Franzen are total douchebags (I know, I know, I'm not supposed to use that, feminine imagery, whatever, but it is SO satisfying to say and think). How about female characters in the genius books? Was Madame Bovary likable? Was Anna Karenina? Is Daisy Buchanan likable? Is Daisy Miller? Is it the specific way in which supposed readers HATE unlikable female characters (who are too depressed, too crazy, too vain, too self-involved, too bored, too boring), that mirrors the specific way in which people HATE unlikable girls and women for the same qualities? We do not allow, really, the notion of the antiheroine, as penned by women, because we confuse the autobiographical, and we pass judgment on the female author for her terrible self-involved and indulgent life. We do not hate Scott Fitzgerald in "The Crack-Up" or Georges Bataille in Guilty for being drunken and totally wading in their own pathos, but Jean Rhys is too much of a victim. ~ Kate Zambreno
Bill Scott quotes by Kate Zambreno
England?" she said with unreserved amazement. "Why do you live in England?" "Because it is nothing like Indianapolis ~ Bill Bryson
Bill Scott quotes by Bill Bryson
Biden likes to be candid in such settings. In 1979, on one of his first trips to the Soviet Union, he listened to an argument from his Soviet counterpart, and replied, "Where I come from, we have a saying: You can't shit a shitter." Bill Bradley, then a fellow-senator on the delegation, later asked the American interpreter how he had translated Biden's comment into Russian. "Not literally," the interpreter said. ~ Anonymous
Bill Scott quotes by Anonymous
Those are the stakes that are constantly there and how do those stakes change you? How does that change the person you are? If it does just turn out to be about survival then is that living? How does that make you, you? How does that change your identity? That picture of the governor, his wife, and his daughter, he wasn't that guy before this all started. People dying around him changed him into that. ~ Scott M. Gimple
Bill Scott quotes by Scott M. Gimple
I work a lot, and it's kind of like, you meet people, and you just click. It's not like I'm looking at something and thinking: 'South Park' - how do I get on that?' I just became friends with those guys first. They're nice guys. ~ Bill Hader
Bill Scott quotes by Bill Hader
When you lose your hair, it has an impact on confidence and your overall self-esteem whether it affects your career or your love life. ~ Bill Rancic
