I bet you were all only children, or felt isolated, or busy "training" and stuff. I bet none of you can lay claim to knowing what a normal teen life is supposed to be! Geez, you're so judgmental, I wanna puke! ~ Cissie King-Jones Peter David
Young Justice quotes by Cissie King-Jones Peter David
Kid Flash: Have all four sidekicks ever been in the same place at the same time?Speedy: Don't call us sidekicks. Not after today.Kid Flash: First time at the Hall. I'm a little overwhelmed.
Robin: You're overwhelmed, Freeze was underwhelmed-why isn't anyone ever just whelmed?
[They enter the Hall]
Robin: Oh, maybe that's why. ~ Young Justice
Young Justice quotes by Young Justice
Should I be concerned over the obvious delight our daughter takes in the ultraviolence?"
"It's genetic. ~ Young Justice
Young Justice quotes by Young Justice
Anyone and everyone taking a writing class knows that the secret of good writing is to cut it back, pare it down, winnow, chop, hack, prune, and trim, remove every superfluous word, compress, compress, compress...

Actually, when you think about it, not many novels in the Spare tradition are terribly cheerful. Jokes you can usually pluck out whole, by the roots, so if you're doing some heavy-duty prose-weeding, they're the first to go. And there's some stuff about the whole winnowing process I just don't get. Why does it always stop when the work in question has been reduced to sixty or seventy thousand words--entirely coincidentally, I'm sure, the minimum length for a publishable novel? I'm sure you could get it down to twenty or thirty if you tried hard enough. In fact, why stop at twenty or thirty? Why write at all? Why not just jot the plot and a couple of themes down on the back of an envelope and leave it at that? The truth is, there's nothing very utilitarian about fiction or its creation, and I suspect that people are desperate to make it sound manly, back-breaking labor because it's such a wussy thing to do in the first place. The obsession with austerity is an attempt to compensate, to make writing resemble a real job, like farming, or logging. (It's also why people who work in advertising put in twenty-hour days.) Go on, young writers--treat yourself to a joke, or an adverb! Spoil yourself! Readers won't mind! ~ Nick Hornby
Young Justice quotes by Nick Hornby
Too bad that youth is wasted on the young. ~ Mark Twain
Young Justice quotes by Mark Twain
So there is some justice in this world, though not a lot. ~ Richard Peck
Young Justice quotes by Richard Peck
Two shadowy figures had appeared in the distance. A young girl led a donkey by its halter, chattering to a child perched on its swaying back. What in God's name were they doing out alone at night? They headed down the dirt road straight toward the house where Tehrazzi was apparently holed up. Every muscle in her body went rigid with denial. "Oh no ... " Had Dec heard the kids? Did he know they were in danger? Could he alert the children before the air strike? Not if he hadn't seen them. What should she do? She was too afraid to yell out in case someone started shooting, but no way could she sit back and let those children suffer. The breath shot in and out of her nose as she counted backward from ten, praying Dec would do something so she wouldn't have to. Ten, nine, eight ... The little boy laughed. Bryn squeezed her eyes ~ Kaylea Cross
Young Justice quotes by Kaylea Cross
He was ... a strange blending of Puritan and Cavalier, with a touch of the ancient philosopher, and more than a touch of the pagan ... A hunger in his soul drove him on and on, an urge to right all wrongs, protect all weaker things ... Wayward and restless as the wind, he was consistent in only one respect - he was true to his ideals of justice and right. Such was Solomon Kane. ~ Robert E. Howard
Young Justice quotes by Robert E. Howard
As soon as we entered I plunged into the giddy whirl of the waltz. That delightful exercise has always been dear to me; I know of nothing more beautiful, more worthy of a beautiful woman and a young man; all dances compared with the waltz are but insipid conventions or pretexts for insignificant converse. It is truly to possess a woman, in a certain sense, to hold her for a half hour in your arms, and to draw her on in the dance, palpitating in spite of herself, in such a way that it can not be positively asserted whether she is being protected or seduced. Some deliver themselves up to the pleasure with such modest voluptuousness, with such sweet and pure abandon, that one does not know whether he experiences desire or fear, and whether, if pressed to the heart, they would faint or break in pieces like the rose. Germany, where that dance was invented, is surely the land of love. ~ Alfred De Musset
Young Justice quotes by Alfred De Musset
You are mighty and strong! You made it against all odds. ~ Charlena E. Jackson
Young Justice quotes by Charlena E. Jackson
Jace found himself looking at a boy only a few years older than himself. Dark hair, a sharp delicate face, eyes that seemed young and old at the same time. The runes of the Brothers marked his high cheekbones, and as the boy turned, Jace saw the pale edge of a faded rune at the side of his throat. ~ Cassandra Clare
Young Justice quotes by Cassandra Clare
Today's young generation will be key contributors as our leaders of tomorrow. ~ Scott Cooper Miami
Young Justice quotes by Scott Cooper Miami
In the end, the innate desire of all people for truth, justice, and human understanding must triumph over ignorance and despair. ~ Dalai Lama XIV
Young Justice quotes by Dalai Lama XIV
It is difficult for young players to learn - because of the great emphasis on records - but, ideally, the joy and frustration of sport should come from the performance itself, not the score. While he is playing, the worst thing a player can think about in terms of concentration - and therefore of success - is losing. The next worst is winning. ~ John Wooden
Young Justice quotes by John Wooden
Most - but not all - of the writers I knew then were young men who cherished their independence, were unconcerned about job security, and were serious about their writing. They didn't want to be anyone's employee if it interfered with their writing. They were halfway or all the way outside the mainstream and were often not interested in becoming part of the burgeoning corporate society. They had more freedom than your average American. ~ Sterling Lord
Young Justice quotes by Sterling Lord
But to speak ill of people at hand who give no cause for blame, is to assume a right far distinct from justice. ~ Aeschylus
Young Justice quotes by Aeschylus
Naw, Ah ain't no young gal no mo' but den Ah ain't no old woman neither. Ah reckon Ah looks mah age too. But Ah'm uh woman every inch of me, and Ah know it. Dat's uh whole lot more'n you kin say. You big-bellies round here and put out a lot of brag, but 'tain't nothin' to it but yo' big voice. Humph! Talkin' 'bout me lookin' old! When you pull down yo' britches, you look lak de change uh life. ~ Zora Neale Hurston
Young Justice quotes by Zora Neale Hurston
Pretty didn't do it justice. I felt like we'd sailed into a world meant for much larger beings, a place where gods and monsters roamed freely. ~ Rick Riordan
Young Justice quotes by Rick Riordan
What is important, and I think celebrities should do, is show your children when they are young is that wealth is not important. I took my children when they where young to Brazil, to the shanty towns with children begging. Ever since that day, I have had no problems with my children, if I buy them anything they are grateful. ~ Uri Geller
Young Justice quotes by Uri Geller
Andy noticed my disposition, rushed over and wrapped his arms round me. This provided Mario the perfect opportunity to use my Valet and me as an example for his monumental demonstration, "While relationships in ancient Greece involved boys from 12 to about 17 or 18, in Renaissance Italy, boys were typically between 14 and 19." He presented us to the cheering crowd as if we were in a forum. ~ Young
Young Justice quotes by Young
Robert Kennedy's Justice Department, it is said, would arrest mobsters for spitting on the sidewalk," he said. The FBI would use "the same aggressive arrest and detention tactics in the war on terror. Let the terrorists among us be warned: If you overstay your visa - even by one day - we will arrest you. If you violate a local law, you will be put in jail and kept in custody as long as possible. We will use every available statute. We will seek every prosecutorial advantage. We will use all our weapons." The ~ Tim Weiner
Young Justice quotes by Tim Weiner
Is equally young and foolish in the wide lens of history, and the arrogant denial of this is what unraveled the world. ~ Isaac Marion
Young Justice quotes by Isaac Marion
I love the Beatles, and when I was very young, I had young parents, so Led Zeppelin and Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix and the Beatles constantly were big influences on my life. ~ Phil Anselmo
Young Justice quotes by Phil Anselmo
Women were always happy for a chance to educate a boy when he was young; Mat thought they assumed they could educate him out of becoming a man if they tried hard enough. ~ Robert Jordan
Young Justice quotes by Robert Jordan
We don't actually want our young people to encounter the mysteries of love anyway; best to keep them preoccupied with the tedium of lust instead. The ~ Anthony Esolen
Young Justice quotes by Anthony Esolen
Increased responsibility for babies and young children has proved just as restrictive, if not more so, than sexism in the home or in the workplace. ~ Elisabeth Badinter
Young Justice quotes by Elisabeth Badinter
Look at that asshole! Not a care in the world! Today, I fish; tomorrow, I blow up a mosque. Smart, hiding in plain sight. ~ Mark M. Bello
Young Justice quotes by Mark M. Bello
I've always found the idea of 'saving' your virginity intriguing: it's not as if we're packing our Saran-wrapped hymens away in the freezer, after all, or pasting them in scrapbooks. But packed-away virginities aside, the interesting - and dangerous - idea at play here is that of 'morality. When young women are taught about morality, there's not often talk of compassion, kindness, courage, or integrity. There is, however, a lot of talk about hymens (though the preferred words are undoubtedly more refined - think 'virginity' and 'chastity'): if we have them, when we'll lose them, and under what circumstances we'll be rid of them. ~ Jessica Valenti
Young Justice quotes by Jessica Valenti
The train bore me away, through the monstrous scenery of slag-heaps, chimneys, piled scrap-iron, foul canals, paths of cindery mud criss-crossed by the prints of clogs. This was March, but the weather had been horribly cold and everywhere there were mounds of blackened snow. As we moved slowly through the outskirts of the town we passed row after row of little grey slum houses running at right angles to the embankment. At the back of one of the houses a young woman was kneeling on the stones, poking a stick up the leaden waste-pipe which ran from the sink inside and which I suppose was blocked. I had time to see everything about her - her sacking apron, her clumsy clogs, her arms reddened by the cold. She looked up as the train passed, and I was almost near enough to catch her eye. She had a round pale face, the usual exhausted face of the slum girl who is twenty-five and looks forty, thanks to miscarriages and drudgery; and it wore, for the second in which I saw it, the most desolate, hopeless expression I have ever-seen. It struck me then that we are mistaken when we say that 'It isn't the same for them as it would be for us,' and that people bred in the slums can imagine nothing but the slums. For what I saw in her face was not the ignorant suffering of an animal. She knew well enough what was happening to her - understood as well as I did how dreadful a destiny it was to be kneeling there in the bitter cold, on the slimy stones of a slum backyard, poking a stick up a foul ~ George Orwell
Young Justice quotes by George Orwell
She'd always pictured her future self as a lone wolf traveling around the world, ensnaring romantic conquests and achieving her wildest and most ambitious goals. She didn't think that at nineteen she would be so dependent on other people; she pictured herself as an autonomous and untouchable force that occasionally flitted back home to show off her new feathers before flying away to her life that was much more exciting than theirs. ~ Katie Neipris
Young Justice quotes by Katie Neipris
but upon the marriage of the young 'squire, it had received the improvement of a farm-house elevated into a cottage, for his residence, ~ Jane Austen
Young Justice quotes by Jane Austen
Architect of quantum theories, brash young group leader on the atomic bomb project, inventor of the ubiquitous Feynman diagram, ebullient bongo player and storyteller, Richard Phillips Feynman was the most brilliant, iconoclastic, and influential physicist of modern times. ~ James Gleick
Young Justice quotes by James Gleick
As one of four daughters, I grew up with an imaginary brother - wondering what it would have been like if one of us had been a boy. There's no question that there was a phantom boy child in my imagination when I was young. ~ Siri Hustvedt
Young Justice quotes by Siri Hustvedt
Often, as a young actress, you find yourself being the only girl in a room full of men ... and one of the reasons why I like 'Grey's Anatomy' is because they have such strong female characters and the women really drive this show. ~ Rachael Taylor
Young Justice quotes by Rachael Taylor
He's young. He still sleeps sometimes. It's a weakness. ~ James S.A. Corey
Young Justice quotes by James S.A. Corey
I want to talk about jobs and health care and pension security and what we're going to do to stop the brain drain in Ohio and make it possible for our young people to stay here and build a life in Ohio rather than in Pennsylvania or West Virginia or God knows where. ~ Ted Strickland
Young Justice quotes by Ted Strickland
Youthfulness is connected to the ability to see things new for the first time. So if your eyes still look at life with wonder, then you will seem young, even though you may not be chronologically young. ~ Goldie Hawn
Young Justice quotes by Goldie Hawn
He thought of all the living species that train their young in the art of survival, the cats who teach their kittens to hunt, the birds who spend such strident effort on teaching their fledglings to fly – yet man, whose tool of survival is the mind, does not merely fail to teach a child to think, but devotes the child's education to the purpose of destroying his brain, of convincing him that thought is futile and evil, before he has started to think.

From the first catch-phrases flung at a child to the last, it is like a series of shocks to freeze his motor, to undercut the power of his consciousness. "Don't ask so many questions, children should be seen and not heard!" – "Who are you to think? It's so, because I say so!" – "Don't argue, obey!" – "Don't try to understand, believe!" – "Don't struggle, compromise!" – "Your heart is more important than your mind!" – "Who are you to know? Your parents know best!" – "Who are you to know? The bureaucrats know best!" – "Who are you to object? All values are relative!" – "Who are you to want to escape a thug's bullet? That's only a personal prejudice!"

Men would shudder, he thought, if they saw a mother bird plucking the feathers from the wings of her young, then pushing him out of the nest to struggle for survival – yet that was what they did to their children. ~ Ayn Rand
Young Justice quotes by Ayn Rand
Margo always loved mysteries. And in everything that came afterward, I could never stop thinking that maybe she loved mysteries so much that she became one. ~ John Green
