They are your portals to joy ~ Lisa Cypers Kamen
Where Happiness Lives quotes by Lisa Cypers Kamen
Ask yourself if you are happy and you cease to be so." That was John Stuart Mill, the nineteenth-century British philosopher who believed that happiness should be approached sideways, "like a crab." Is Bhutan a nation of crabs? Or is this whole notion of Gross National Happiness just a clever marketing ploy, like the one Aruba dreamed up a few years ago. "Come to Aruba: the island where happiness lives. ~ Eric Weiner
Where Happiness Lives quotes by Eric Weiner
Do you believe in other universes? Do you think there's another dimension where we're happy? ~ Jasmine Warga
Where Happiness Lives quotes by Jasmine Warga
The Gift

Time wants to show you a different country. It's the one
that your life conceals, the one waiting outside
when curtains are drawn, the one Grandmother hinted at
in her crochet design, the one almost found
over at the edge of the music, after the sermon.

It's the way life is, and you have it, a few years given.
You get killed now and then, violated
in various ways. (And sometimes it's turn about.)
You get tired of that. Long-suffering, you wait
and pray, and maybe good things come-maybe
the hurt slackens and you hardly feel it any more.
You have a breath without pain. It is called happiness.

It's a balance, the taking and passing along,
the composting of where you've been and how people
and weather treated you. It's a country where
you already are, bringing where you have been.
Time offers this gift in its millions of ways,
turning the world, moving the air, calling,
every morning, "Here, take it, it's yours. ~ William Stafford
Where Happiness Lives quotes by William Stafford
Think about what you love, Hildegard. Trust it. That's where your talents lie and that's where you'll find happiness, even here. ~ Mary Sharratt
Where Happiness Lives quotes by Mary Sharratt
Rome ... seems to me the place in the world where one can best dispense with happiness ... ~ Fanny Kemble
Where Happiness Lives quotes by Fanny Kemble
YOU FOUND ME, when i was HEARTLESS and afraid. ABSOLUTE silence and all we never say. LOVE DONT DIE, DONT GIVE IT AWAY. HOLD MY HAND, and lets watch our days fade away. This is not WHERE THE STORY ENDS. TOGETHER we stand with SOME TRUST in the palms of our hands. Dont let me go, stay with me and BE THE ONE. Be my one and only. HEAVEN FORBID i lose you now. I will surly break and isolate. WE BUILD AND WE BREAK, HAPPINESS is at stake. UNCERTAINTY always gets the better of us, But have a little faith. I'll LOOK AFTER YOU, till OUR LAST DAYS. ~ Rhyan Roads
Where Happiness Lives quotes by Rhyan Roads
Where there is happiness, there is found pleasure in nonsense. The transformation of experience into its opposite, of the suitable into the unsuitable, the obligatory into the optional (but in such a manner that this process produces no injury and is only imagined in jest), is a pleasure; ... ~ Friedrich Nietzsche
Where Happiness Lives quotes by Friedrich Nietzsche
But at the end of every show we would realize that true happiness often lies where you very least expect it. It might arrive in a form of a gentle breeze or a handful of peanuts, but when it came, we would seize it with our own brand of folksy wisdom. ~ David Sedaris
Where Happiness Lives quotes by David Sedaris
It is rather too easy to write about depression, but where can one find the words to describe happiness? ~ Hala Alzaghal
Where Happiness Lives quotes by Hala Alzaghal
The materialistic pattern of life is that where money predominates over everything. The non-materialistic life is that where money is just a means - happiness predominates, joy predominates; your own individuality predominates. You know who you are and where you are going, and you are not distracted. Then suddenly you will see your life has a meditative quality to it. ~ Rajneesh
Where Happiness Lives quotes by Rajneesh
I've always been a big believer in the power of place. I believe that where we are affects who we are when it comes to happiness, spirituality, economics and creative genius. ~ Eric Weiner
Where Happiness Lives quotes by Eric Weiner
I gave you all the happiness of my life, where are you ?
You took my joy away from me,where are you ?
give it back,i have life too. ~ Chandran Nair
Where Happiness Lives quotes by Chandran Nair
A U.S. of modern A. where the State is not a team or a code, but a sort of sloppy intersection of desires and fears, where the only public consensus a boy must surrender to is the acknowledged primacy of straight-line pursuing this flat and short-sighted idea of personal happiness. ~ David Foster Wallace
Where Happiness Lives quotes by David Foster Wallace
Where there is change, there is happiness ~ Anamika Mishra
Where Happiness Lives quotes by Anamika Mishra
The way to happiness is a high-speed road to those who know where the edges are. ~ L. Ron Hubbard
Where Happiness Lives quotes by L. Ron Hubbard
Son, life is like a book. It has numerous chapters. It also has many a lesson in it. It is made up of a wide variety of experiences and resembles a pendulum where success and failure, joy and sorrow are merely extremes of the central reality. The lessons to be learnt from success and failure are equally important. More often than not, failure and sorrow are bigger teachers than success and happiness. ~ Sachin Tendulkar
Where Happiness Lives quotes by Sachin Tendulkar
There is no absolute formula for happiness - each unique condition of life can serve as the foundation for happiness in its own unique way. You can be happy when married with children, or when married without children. You can be happy when you are single, without a college degree, or with one. You can be happy when you are slim, you can be happy when you are overweight. You can be happy when living in a warm climate as in California, you can be happy when living in Montana, where you have severe winter conditions. As a sumo wrestler, you can be happy when you make it to yokozuna, or you can be happy while remaining one of the underdogs all your career, doing small chores, never giving up. ~ Ken Mogi
Where Happiness Lives quotes by Ken Mogi
Where can you find purpose? Like success and happiness, our purpose exists in the present, and we constantly strive toward the future to maintain it. What it is for which we strive is up to each of us. The important thing is that we strive toward something. ~ Philip Zimbardo
Where Happiness Lives quotes by Philip Zimbardo
I have a mind like a sieve,
where sadness sits
and happiness slips ~ Kara Petrovic
Where Happiness Lives quotes by Kara Petrovic
Children write essays in school about the unhappy, tragic, doomed life of Anna Karenina. But was Anna really unhappy? She chose passion and she paid for her passion - that's happiness! She was a free, proud human being. But what if during peacetime a lot of greatcoats and peaked caps burst into the house where you were born and live, and ordered the whole family to leave house and town in twenty-four hours, with only what your feeble hands can carry?... You open your doors, call in the passers-by from the streets and ask them to buy things from you, or to throw you a few pennies to buy bread with... With ribbon in her hair, your daughter sits down at the piano for the last time to play Mozart. But she bursts into tears and runs away. So why should I read Anna Karenina again? Maybe it's enough - what I've experienced. Where can people read about us? Us? Only in a hundred years?
"They deported all members of the nobility from Leningrad. (There were a hundred thousand of them, I suppose. But did we pay much attention? What kind of wretched little ex-nobles were they, the ones who remained? Old people and children, the helpless ones.) We knew this, we looked on and did nothing. You see, we weren't the victims."
"You bought their pianos?"
"We may even have bought their pianos. Yes, of course we bought them."
Oleg could now see that this woman was not yet even fifty. Yet anyone walking past her would have said she was an old woman. A lock of smooth old woman's ~ Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn
Where Happiness Lives quotes by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn
I was lost. Lost in him. Lost in the moment. Lost in happiness. "Kade. Kade? Where the hell are you man?" a voice yelled from the outside area. ~ Cameo Renae
Where Happiness Lives quotes by Cameo Renae
Happiness is the only sanction of life; where happiness fails, existence remains a mad and lamentable experiment. ~ George Santayana
Where Happiness Lives quotes by George Santayana
Success is not a summit to climb, It is an equilibrium where work and life are balanced ~ Kandarp Gandhi
Where Happiness Lives quotes by Kandarp Gandhi
In a time when I need a little hope I look at a photo of where I call home and think of the moment I'll have when I go back with my trials and struggles carried in a box able to be let free and turn into achievements and happiness. ~ Cassandra Shea
Where Happiness Lives quotes by Cassandra Shea
As she wrote her pulse quickened to the pleasure of forming the phrases,--her blood warmed to the joy of the working. She was experiencing a return of the familiar sensation of happiness in constructing. Quite suddenly, in fancy she caught in the far distance a glimpse of silver wings. It gave her a warm thrill of gratification too deep for words. Immediately she knew through some inner consciousness, that no matter what the future would hold--joy or sorrow, happiness or grief--that no matter where life's paths would lead her--through sharp and stony ways or beside still waters--buried deep within her was an indestructible capacity to visualize a white bird flying. She might never get close to the way of its winging, but always there would be joy in lifting her eyes to the glory of its distant flight. ~ Bess Streeter Aldrich
Where Happiness Lives quotes by Bess Streeter Aldrich
I think if I could move away from here to a place where no one knows me, I might have a chance at happiness, but I can't do that either. There's a comfort in staying home...but there's so much agony, too. ~ Lisa De Jong
Where Happiness Lives quotes by Lisa De Jong
It seems that unlike the continuous, enduring contentment that we anticipate, our actual happiness with, and in, a place must be a brief and, at least to the conscious mind, apparently haphazard phenomenon: an interval in which we achieve receptivity to the world around us, in which positive thoughts of past and future coagulate and anxieties are allayed. The condition rarely endures for longer than ten minutes. New patterns of anxiety inevitably form on the horizon of consciousness, like the weather fronts that mass themselves every few days off the western coasts of Ireland. The past victory ceases to seem so impressive, the future acquires complications and the beautiful view becomes as invisible as anything which is always around.

I was to discover an unexpected continuity between the melancholic self I had been at home and the person I was to be on the island, a continuity quite at odds with the radical discontinuity in the landscape and climate, where the very air seemed to be made of a different and sweeter substance. ~ Alain De Botton
Where Happiness Lives quotes by Alain De Botton
I'M LOSING FAITH IN MY FAVORITE COUNTRY

Throughout my life, the United States has been my favorite country, save and except for Canada, where I was born, raised, educated, and still live for six months each year. As a child growing up in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, I aggressively bought and saved baseball cards of American and National League players, spent hours watching snowy images of American baseball and football games on black and white television and longed for the day when I could travel to that great country. Every Saturday afternoon, me and the boys would pay twelve cents to go the show and watch U.S. made movies, and particularly, the Superman serial. Then I got my chance. My father, who worked for B.F. Goodrich, took my brother and me to watch the Cleveland Indians play baseball in the Mistake on the Lake in Cleveland. At last I had made it to the big time. I thought it was an amazing stadium and it was certainly not a mistake. Amazingly, the Americans thought we were Americans.

I loved the United States, and everything about the country: its people, its movies, its comic books, its sports, and a great deal more. The country was alive and growing. No, exploding. It was the golden age of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The American dream was alive and well, but demanded hard work, honesty, and frugality. Everyone understood that. Even the politicians.

Then everything changed.

Partly because of its proximity to ~ Stephen Douglass
Where Happiness Lives quotes by Stephen Douglass
Happiness, or contentment, comes from where we look and what we believe, not from what we have. ~ Lydia Brownback
Where Happiness Lives quotes by Lydia Brownback
We all have a hungry heart, and one of the things we hunger for is happiness. So as much as I possibly could, I stayed where I was happy. ~ Mary Oliver
Where Happiness Lives quotes by Mary Oliver
I open the books on Right and on ethics; I listen to the professors and jurists; and, my mind full of their seductive doctrines, I admire the peace and justice established by the civil order; I bless the wisdom of our political institutions and, knowing myself a citizen, cease to lament I am a man. Thoroughly instructed as to my duties and my happiness, I close the book, step out of the lecture room, and look around me. I see wretched nations groaning beneath a yoke of iron. I see mankind ground down by a handful of oppressors, I see a famished mob, worn down by sufferings and famine, while the rich drink the blood and tears of their victims at their ease. I see on every side the strong armed with the terrible powers of the Law against the weak.

And all this is done quietly and without resistance. It is the peace of Ulysses and his comrades, imprisoned in the cave of the Cyclops and waiting their turn to be devoured. We must groan and be silent. Let us for ever draw a veil over sights so terrible. I lift my eyes and look to the horizon. I see fire and flame, the fields laid waste, the towns put to sack. Monsters! where are you dragging the hapless wretches? I hear a hideous noise. What a tumult and what cries! I draw near; before me lies a scene of murder, ten thousand slaughtered, the dead piled in heaps, the dying trampled under foot by horses, on every side the image of death and the throes of death. And that is the fruit of your peaceful institutions! Indignat ~ Jean-Jacques Rousseau
Where Happiness Lives quotes by Jean-Jacques Rousseau
We have the beginnings of feminism starting to rear its head, where all of that got blown up. The whole point of going to college became not to find a husband - screw that! - feminism became, "You don't want anything about a man to be defining you, and you don't want your relationship to define, you! You don't want a relationship to be your happiness. You certainly don't want marriage to be the sole determining reason you live". ~ Rush Limbaugh
Where Happiness Lives quotes by Rush Limbaugh
Those that know where they are going will not take any path they see in front of them, but they will take the one that goes in the direction they want. ~ Innocent Mwatsikesimbe
Where Happiness Lives quotes by Innocent Mwatsikesimbe
All human beings are alike in seeking happiness. Where they differ is in the objects from which they seek it and the strength they have to reach the objects they desire. ~ Os Guinness
Where Happiness Lives quotes by Os Guinness
A being of volitional consciousness has no automatic course of behavior. He needs a code of values to guide his actions. 'Value' is that which one acts to gain and keep, 'virtue' is the action by which one gains and keeps it. 'Value' presupposes an answer to the question: of value to whom and for what? 'Value' presupposes a standard, a purpose and the necessity of action in the face of an alternative. Where there are no alternatives, no values are possible. ~ Ayn Rand
Where Happiness Lives quotes by Ayn Rand
I wonder where love really is. Good feelings. Happiness. They're someplace, I know. I feel that. But without Father and Mother, how do I get there? ~ Susan Shaw
Where Happiness Lives quotes by Susan Shaw
The beautiful thing about the law of attraction is that you can begin where you are, and you can begin to think, real thinking, and you can begin to generate within yourself a feeling tone of harmony and happiness. The law will begin to respond to that. ~ Michael Beckwith
Where Happiness Lives quotes by Michael Beckwith
You are right; I am not good at moving in society. Be merciful. You do not understand me; I live in the woods by choice
that is my happiness. Here, where I am all alone, it can hurt no one that I am as I am; but when I go among others, I have to use all my will power to be as I should. ~ Knut Hamsun
Where Happiness Lives quotes by Knut Hamsun
Whatever we do, where ever we live, from wherever we are coming from, we all have one purpose in life and that is to be happy. ~ Debasish Mridha
Where Happiness Lives quotes by Debasish Mridha
So the place where you should look for the kingdom of God or the Pure Land of the Buddha, the place where you should look for your happiness, your peace, and your fulfillment, has to be in the present moment. It's so simple and clear. But since we have the tendency to slide back into the past or to run into the future, we have to recognize that habit and learn how to be free from it to really establish ourselves in the present moment. When ~ Thich Nhat Hanh
Where Happiness Lives quotes by Thich Nhat Hanh
I don't remember the time where a smile actually meant happiness sadly, so many of my peers only smile to hide things ~ R H Sin
Where Happiness Lives quotes by R H Sin
We all love to take responsibility for success and happiness. Hell, we often fight over who gets to be responsible for success and happiness. But taking responsibility for our problems is far more important, because that's where the real learning comes from. That's where the real-life improvement comes from. To ~ Mark Manson
Where Happiness Lives quotes by Mark Manson
The majority enjoy a young girl as they enjoy a glass of champagne, at one effervescent moment-oh, yes, that is really beautiful, and with many a young girl that is undoubtedly the most one can attain, but here there is more. If an individual is too fragile to stand clarity and transparency, well, then one enjoys what is unclear, but apparently she can stand it. The more devotedness one can bring to erotic love, the more interesting. This momentary enjoyment is a rape, even if not outwardly but nevertheless mentally, and in a rape there is only imagined enjoyment; it is like a stolen kiss, something nondescript. No, if one can bring it to a point where a girl has but one task for her freedom, to give herself, so that she feels her whole happiness in this, so that she practically begs for this devotedness and yet is free-only then is there enjoyment, but this always takes a discerning touch ~ Soren Kierkegaard
Where Happiness Lives quotes by Soren Kierkegaard
Dreaming is an option to be happy, dare to do so. If you are able! - you are halfway done. where happiness is a feeling, why not in a dream? ~ Praveen Chenna
Where Happiness Lives quotes by Praveen Chenna
God has entrusted me with myself. No man is free who is not master of himself. A man should so live that his happiness shall depend as little as possible on external things. The world turns aside to let any man pass who knows where he is going. ~ Epictetus
Where Happiness Lives quotes by Epictetus
She navigated away from the Parish Council message board and dropped into her favorite medical website, where she painstakingly entered the words "brain" and "death" in the search box.
The suggestions were endless. Shirley scrolled through the possibilities, her mild eyes rolling up and down, wondering to which of these deadly conditions, some of them unpronounceable, she owed her present happiness. ~ J.K. Rowling
Where Happiness Lives quotes by J.K. Rowling
The world where you would go hand in hand with the flower maiden has neither perfect happiness nor joy nor life. This is because it also does not contain perfect sadness nor misery nor death. What lies in waiting is a paradise for wolves alone, the unclean humans are no more ... come with me Cheza, it is time. ~ Keiko Nobumoto
Where Happiness Lives quotes by Keiko Nobumoto
The trouble with her is that either she thinks that at last she's got to that spot or place or that moment in her life where everything's like a fairy tale come true, that nothing can go wrong, that she'll never be unhappy again; or else she's down in the dumps, a woman whose life is ruined, who's never known love and happiness and who never will again. ~ Agatha Christie
