I don't know how this hopeless boy weaseled his way into my life this week, but I know i'm definitely not ready for him to leave. ~ Colleen Hoover
Thoughts About Holder quotes by Colleen Hoover
By using affirmations and by surrounding ourselves with people who are positive and will support us in holding thoughts about what we want to experience (and not what we don't) we'll naturally start to shift our experience ~ Cheryl Richardson
Thoughts About Holder quotes by Cheryl Richardson
I am me because of me. No one else. My decisions brought me here, good or bad. Any my thoughts make up how I feel about myself and others. I can choose to be negative, filled with regret. Or I can choose to be filled with hope....I don't dwell in the past. I don't blame anyone for who or what I've turned out to be, and I don't carry around my hurt or baggage as excuses for how I got here....But today is what determines my tomorrow, and right here, right now is all I can really do anything about. So I stay in the moment- or try to, anyway. It is a constant battle. Being present. Being completely present with the ones around you. ~ Rory Feek
Thoughts About Holder quotes by Rory Feek
I'd love to write some porn, but I don't know if I have the right engines. When I was a young man and I was tempted to write porn, imaginary parents would appear over my shoulder and read what I was writing; just about the point that I managed to banish the imaginary parents, real children would lean over my shoulder and read what I was writing. ~ Neil Gaiman
Thoughts About Holder quotes by Neil Gaiman
Sky-Blue
The azure blue, the heavenly hue,
The first created realm of blue;
And over its radiance divine
My soul does pour its love sublime.

My heart that once with joy did glow
Is plunged in sorrow and in woe,
But yet it thrills and loves anew
To view again the sapphire blue.

I love to gaze on lovely eyes
That swim in azure from the skies;
The heavens lend this color fair,
Arid leave a dream of gladness there.

Enamored of the limpid sky,
My thoughts take wing to regions high,
And in that blue of liquid fire
In raptured ecstasy expire.

When I am dead no tears will flow
Upon my lonely grave below,
But from above the aerial blue
Will scatter over me tears of dew.

The mists about my tomb will wind
A veil of pearl with shadows twined;
But lured by sunbeams from on high
Twill melt into the azure sky. ~ Nikoloz Baratashvili
Thoughts About Holder quotes by Nikoloz Baratashvili
At 41 and a half weeks pregnant, I started to have second thoughts about becoming a mother. ~ Jenny Mollen
Thoughts About Holder quotes by Jenny Mollen
I find myself wishing that I could work that magic for her. That I could bring the smile back to her face. But I slap at those thoughts as if they were mosquitoes. What am I doing, caring so much about my best friend's love? I deny my feelings for her because they shouldn't exist. ~ Amy Plum
Thoughts About Holder quotes by Amy Plum
The vast accumulations of knowledge - or at least of information - deposited by the nineteenth century have been responsible for an equally vast ignorance. When there is so much to be known, when there are so many fields of knowledge in which the same words are used with different meanings, when every one knows a little about a great many things, it becomes increasingly difficult for anyone to know whether he knows what he is talking about or not. And when we do not know, or when we do not know enough, we tend always to substitute emotions for thoughts. ~ T. S. Eliot
Thoughts About Holder quotes by T. S. Eliot
Little bits of things make me do it; - perhaps a word that I said and ought not to have said ten years ago; - the most ordinary little mistakes, even my own past thoughts to myself about the merest trifles. They are always making me shiver. ~ Anthony Trollope
Thoughts About Holder quotes by Anthony Trollope
Throughout my childhood I believed that what I thought about was different from what other kids thought about. It was not necessarily more profound, but there was a struggle going on inside me to find some sort of creative or spiritual or aesthetic way of seeing the world and organizing it in my head. ~ Anne Lamott
Thoughts About Holder quotes by Anne Lamott
Let me tell you a BIG secret – THE secret that many do not know about happiness. Happiness is not something some people have and others do not; happiness is a practice – a skill that you get better at by practicing positive and empowering thoughts, daily. The simple reason why so many are traveling a dirt road towards happiness is because they practice the opposite every day: anger, hate, sadness, sorrow, loneliness, etc. ~ Jellis Vaes
Thoughts About Holder quotes by Jellis Vaes
The mind is running on all sides to think about many things, - what we call thoughts coming from outside. We must withdraw the mind from these distractions and make it abide in the self. Thus guarding the peace within we shall have to do the work without. ~ Sri Aurobindo
Thoughts About Holder quotes by Sri Aurobindo
It was a gross, tasteless thing to say – my brain had been burping up such inappropriate thoughts at inopportune moments. Mental gas I couldn't control. Like, I'd started internally singing the lyrics to 'Bony Moronie' whenever I saw my cop friend. She's as skinny as a stick of macaroni, my brain would bebop as Detective Rhonda Boney was telling me about dragging the river for my missing wife. Defense mechanism, I told myself, just a weird defense mechanism. I'd like it to stop. ~ Gillian Flynn
Thoughts About Holder quotes by Gillian Flynn
Become Aware of Memory Bias

When people are anxious, they often have biased recall for events. For example, Brian talks himself into believing he screwed up an interview for a promotion because he thinks over and over about things he could've said. However, he doesn't as easily recall the good answers he gave. He endlessly mentally rehashes ambiguous cues the interviewers gave off, such as appearing to rush through questions, but doesn't as easily recall when the interviewers responded positively.
Another example: A friend of mine used to talk herself into believing she'd failed every exam she ever took. She'd ruminate over all the answers she hadn't known and wouldn't recall questions she'd been able to answer correctly. The take-home message when you're ruminating: Don't trust your memory. You might be ruminating about something fictional or at least magnified. This also applies to ruminating about how you think others perceive you; you may just be mind reading based on a biased memory of interactions.
Experiment: Do you have any current rumination topics where memory bias might be playing a role? If you can't think of anything now, come back to this experiment when you have an issue that fits. Answer the following questions:

1. What's your ruminating mind telling you?
2. What are the objective data telling you about whether your ruminative thoughts are likely to be correct? For example, my friend who always convinced herself she'd fail ~ Alice Boyes
Thoughts About Holder quotes by Alice Boyes
I think it's important and I think it's true that our life experience is going to be about our attitude, our thoughts, our beliefs, our speech and our actions. We can transform our life experience simply by changing our language. ~ Jason Mraz
Thoughts About Holder quotes by Jason Mraz
In my humdrum life I was exalted one day by perfumes exhaled by a world that had been so bland. They were the troubling heralds of love. Suddenly love itself had come, with its roses and its flutes, sculpting, papering, closing, perfuming everything around it. Love had blended with the most immense breath of the thoughts themselves, the respiration that, without weakening love, had made it infinite. But what did I know about love itself? Did I, in any way, clarify its mystery, and did I know anything about it other than the fragrance of its sadness and the smell of its fragrances? Then, love went away, and the perfumes, from shattered flagons, were exhaled with a purer intensity. The scent of a weakened drop still impregnates my life. ~ Marcel Proust
Thoughts About Holder quotes by Marcel Proust
Modern science knows much about such conflicts. We call the mental state that engenders it "ambivalence": a collision between thought and feeling. ~ David Seabury
Thoughts About Holder quotes by David Seabury
However, the struggle with that sentinel is, as a rule, not so hard as it may seem from a long way off, mainly in consequence of the antagonism between the ills of the body and the ills of the mind. If we are in great bodily pain, or the pain lasts a long time, we become indifferent to other troubles; all we think about is to get well. In the same way great mental suffering makes us insensible to bodily pain; we despise it; nay, if it should outweigh the other, it distracts our thoughts, and we welcome it as a pause in mental suffering. It is this feeling that makes suicide easy; for the bodily pain that accompanies it loses all significance in the eyes of one who is tortured by an excess of mental suffering. This is especially evident in the case of those who are driven to suicide by some purely morbid and exaggerated ill-humor. No special effort to overcome their feelings is necessary, nor do such people require to be worked up in order to take the step; but as soon as the keeper into whose charge they are given leaves them for a couple of minutes, they quickly bring their life to an end.
When, in some dreadful and ghastly dream, we reach the moment of greatest horror, it awakes us; thereby banishing all the hideous shapes that were born of the night. And life is a dream: when the moment of greatest horror compels us to break it off, the same thing happens. ~ Arthur Schopenhauer
Thoughts About Holder quotes by Arthur Schopenhauer
That was one of the saddest things about people
their most important thoughts and feelings often went unspoken and barely understood. ~ Alexandra Adornetto
Thoughts About Holder quotes by Alexandra Adornetto
It's very important as a beginner that you understand right from the start that meditation is about befriending your thinking, about holding it gently in awareness, no matter what is on your mind in a particular moment. It is not about shutting off your thoughts or changing them in any way. ~ Jon Kabat-Zinn
Thoughts About Holder quotes by Jon Kabat-Zinn
Let us give up our work, our thoughts, our plans, ourselves, our lives, our loved ones, our influence, our all, right into His hand, and then, when we have given all over to Him, there will be nothing left for us to be troubled about, or to make trouble about. ~ James Hudson Taylor
Thoughts About Holder quotes by James Hudson Taylor
Thoughts are a powerful thing, but most of us wield them haphazardly. By the time we are young adults our minds and personalities are shaped to a great degree. Our thinking becomes habit and routine, like a river, and our thoughts must follow wherever the ravine takes us. As our negative thinking takes over our mind like strangling vines, the years continue to pass and we lose our goals and dreams. We form perceptions of reality and assume that everyone else thinks and sees the world as we do. They do not. An interesting fact is that your perception of reality is almost always wrong. The good and bad news is that our lives are most affected by the way we think things are, not the way they actually are. Be careful what you think about, it absolutely will shape your life. ~ Adam Shepherd
Thoughts About Holder quotes by Adam Shepherd
If you can't be psyched about your own thoughts, then how are you supposed to have a meaningful interaction with anyone? ~ Angel Olsen
Thoughts About Holder quotes by Angel Olsen
She sighed "Can't you just think about sex like a normal guy?"
He blinked. "Excuse me?"
"How are you not thinking about sex right now?"
"You don't know what I'm thinking about."
"Yeah, but I know what you're feeling. And you're feeling…happy. Where's all the desire and want?"
He picked up another arrow. "Are you seriously mad at me right now because I'm not having lustful thoughts?"
"No. I'm just confused. I mean, I'm thinking about sex. But you're over there coating arrows in blood and thinking about God knows what - "
"Star Wars figurines."
"What?"
"That's what I was thinking about."
She blinked in confusion. "Star Wars figurines make you happy?"
He smiled and went back to the arrows on the table. "No. You make me happy. My happy feelings are because of you. My desire and want feelings - which I have plenty of - are also because of you, but I have those contained right now because I'm trying not to overwhelm you with emotions."
"Oh."
"Trust me," he grabbed another arrow. "You don't want me to think about sex when you can feel my emotions. It's very intense. I could barely handle it with you and I had five hundred years of practice."
She shot her eyes to him. "What are you trying to say? That I'm some kind of baby? I can handle it."
He shook his head and smiled. "You have no idea what you're talking about."
"Try me."
This was a dangerous game, but since only his life was at stake…
"Okay ~ Chelsea Fine
Thoughts About Holder quotes by Chelsea Fine
There is a kind of sleep that steals upon us sometimes, which, while it holds the body prisoner, does not free the mind from a sense of things about it, and enable it to ramble at its pleasure. So far as an overpowering heaviness, a prostration of strength, and an utter inability to control our thoughts or power of motion, can be called sleep, this is it; and yet we have a consciousness of all that is going on about us; and if we dream at such a time, words which are really spoken, or sounds which really exist at the moment, accommodate themselves with surprising readiness to our visions, until reality and imagination become so strangely blended that it is afterwards almost a matter of impossibilty to separate the two. Nor is this, the most striking phenomenon, incidental to such a state. It is an undoubted fact, that although our senses of touch and sight be for the time dead, yet our sleeping thoughts, and the visionary scenes that pass before us, will be influenced, and materially influenced, by the mere silent presence of some external object: which may not have been near us when we closed our eyes: and of whose vicinity we have had no waking consciousness. ~ Charles Dickens
Thoughts About Holder quotes by Charles Dickens
All right, then, I'll go to hell' -and tore it up.
It was awful thoughts, and awful words, but they was said. And I let them stay said; and never thought no more about reforming. I shoved the whole thing out of my head; and I said I would take up wickedness again, which was in my line, being brung up to it, and the other warn't. And for a starter, I would go to work and steal Jim out of slavery again; and if I could think up anything worse, I would do that, too; because as long as I was in, and in for good, I might as well go the whole hog. ~ Mark Twain
Thoughts About Holder quotes by Mark Twain
Alas! what are you, after all, my written and painted thoughts! Not long ago you were so variegated, young and malicious, so full of thorns and secret spices, that you made me sneeze and laugh - and now? You have already doffed your novelty, and some of you, I fear, are ready to become truths, so immortal do they look, so pathetically honest, so tedious! And was it ever otherwise? What then do we write and paint, we mandarins with Chinese brush, we immortalizers of things which lend themselves to writing, what are we alone capable of painting? Alas, only that which is just about to fade and begins to lose its odour! Alas, only exhausted and departing storms and belated yellow sentiments! Alas, only birds strayed and fatigued by flight, which now let themselves be captured with the hand - with our hand! We immortalize what cannot live and fly much longer, things only which are exhausted and mellow! And it is only for your afternoon, you, my written and painted thoughts, for which alone I have colours, many colours, perhaps, many variegated softenings, and fifty yellows and browns and greens and reds; - but nobody will divine thereby how ye looked in your morning, you sudden sparks and marvels of my solitude, you, my old, beloved - evil thoughts! ~ Friedrich Nietzsche
Thoughts About Holder quotes by Friedrich Nietzsche
Whatever's got you down is causing a great deal of stress. Pick yourself up and reflect on the positive things about your life. You'd be surprised at how one slingshot of optimism can overturn the deep dark thoughts affecting your mood and making you vulnerable. ~ Bianca McCormick-Johnson
Thoughts About Holder quotes by Bianca McCormick-Johnson
Finally, the cognomen, a personal surname, was particular to its holder or his branch of the family. It often had a jokey or down-to-earth ring: so, for example, "Cicero" is Latin for "chickpea" and it was supposed that some ancestor had had a wart of that shape on the end of his nose. When Marcus was about to launch his career as an advocate and politician, friends advised him to change his name to something less ridiculous. "No," he replied firmly, "I am going to make my cognomen more famous than those of men like Scaurus and Catulus." These were two leading Romans of the day, and the point of the remark was that "Catulus" was the Latin for "whelp" or "puppy," and "Scaurus" meant "with large or projecting ankles. ~ Anthony Everitt
Thoughts About Holder quotes by Anthony Everitt
Just like in the real world, the world in our minds is real. You cannot have both positive and negative thoughts at the same time. Negativity brings us down when we should actually be enjoying life and getting the most out of it. Mental de-cluttering is really about getting rid of your worries, bad memories, fears and disappointments, and starting on a new footing where the past doesn't matter. You decide on what you are going to carry with you to a new and better life. Remember, the more the baggage you carry with you, the more difficult life would be. Focus more on the things you have control over; if you cannot handle something now forget about it altogether. ~ Jesse Jacobs
Thoughts About Holder quotes by Jesse Jacobs
Writing's much more romantic when its pen and ink and paper. It's... More timeless. and worthwhile. Think about it. There are so many words gushing out into the universe these days. All digitally. All in Comic Sans or Times New Roman. Silly Websites. Stupid news stories digitally uploaded to a 24-hour channel. Where's all this writing going? Who's keeping a note of it all? Who's in charge of deciding what's worthwhile and what isn't? But back then... Back then, if someone wanted to write something they had to buy paper. Buy it! And ink. And a pen. And they couldn't waste too many sheets cos it was expensive. So when people wrote, they wrote because it was worthwhile... not just because they had some half-baked idea and they wanted to pointlessly prove their existence by sharing it on some bloody social networking site. ~ Holly Bourne
Thoughts About Holder quotes by Holly Bourne
It may surprise you to hear that what you worry about, the specific content of your worrisome thoughts, isn't usually all that important. What's most important is how you relate to your worrisome thoughts, whatever their content may be. ~ David A. Carbonell
Thoughts About Holder quotes by David A. Carbonell
When I'm writing, I separate from everyone. Even my band. I push myself, and I'm alone with my thoughts. Separating from friends and comforts and family lets you think a lot deeper about subject matter. Working alone drives me a little crazy, but it makes the writing as honest as possible. ~ Vic Fuentes
Thoughts About Holder quotes by Vic Fuentes
Don't get me wrong, loyalty is an admirable quality. But the number of years one has been around does not automatically equate with being a good leader, any more than does merely having the title of manager or vice president. And certainly the things we acquire- fine cars, nice homes- are not measures of our leadership ability.
Leadership, more than anything else, is about the way we think. It's a moment-to-moment disciplining of our thoughts. It's about practicing personal accountability and choosing to make a positive contribution, no matter what out role or "level". ~ John G. Miller
Thoughts About Holder quotes by John G. Miller
Even with the crackle of the flames, the silence was unbearable. He wanted to ask her why she'd done it. Why she'd lied about Lilly. But whenever he tried to shape his thoughts into words, they died on his lips. Eventually, ~ Kass Morgan
Thoughts About Holder quotes by Kass Morgan
When we learn to deal directly with our complaints and difficulties, romanticized ideas about the spiritual path are no longer meaningful. We see that what is important is to take responsibility for ourselves, and to always be aware of our thoughts, feelings, and actions. ~ Tarthang Tulku
Thoughts About Holder quotes by Tarthang Tulku
Do you ever have dirty thoughts about spongebob? ~ James Patterson
Thoughts About Holder quotes by James Patterson
But the biggest clue seemed to be their expressions. They were hard to explain. Good-natured, friendly, easygoing ... and uninvolved. They were like spectators. You had the feeling they had just wandered in there themselves and somebody had handed them a wrench. There was no identification with the job. No saying, "I am a mechanic." At 5 P.M. or whenever their eight hours were in, you knew they would cut it off and not have another thought about their work. They were already trying not to have any thoughts about their work on the job. ~ Robert M. Pirsig
Thoughts About Holder quotes by Robert M. Pirsig
I think the act of talking about something - with a friend, or someone in your family, or someone you care about, and you're discussing something that you both admire - can often sharpen your thoughts about what you've read or seen and help you think more clearly about it. ~ Paul Auster
