Did I not tell you that would gag a maggot on a gut wagon? ~ Duck Dynasty
That S Poetry quotes by Duck Dynasty
The ordinary modes of human thinking are magical, religious, social, and personal. We want our wishes to come true; we want the universe to care about us; we want the approval of those around us; we want to get even with that s.o.b. who insulted us at the last tribal council. For most people, wanting to know the cold truth about the world is way, way down the list. ~ John Derbyshire
That S Poetry quotes by John Derbyshire
„This is what people do here?"
„It's a little more complicated than that."
„Everything seems complicated here," he grumbled.
„That"s life," I laughed. „Life is complicated."
„And that's good?"
I nodded. „That's good. ~ Jus Accardo
That S Poetry quotes by Jus Accardo
There is always a way out for those cleaver enough to find it-Athena
When you wake up, you have two choices, to go on dreaming your dreams or get up and chase them.
It's not about the destination, it's about the journey.
a journey begins with a single step. ~ Rick Riordan
That S Poetry quotes by Rick Riordan
I'm not looking thru you Kami, I'm looking into you. I'm standing here, wondering how the hell a girl so beautiful could hold so much sadness in her gorgeous green eyes. And I'm asking myself why I want- no- why I NEED to know what's made her so sad. And what I can do to take away every ounce of that sadness. I need to know what it will take for you to let me in, so I can do just that. ~ S.L. Jennings
That S Poetry quotes by S.L. Jennings
Seated at table -
no need for the fracture
of the room's silence; noiselessly
they conversed. ~ R.S. Thomas
That S Poetry quotes by R.S. Thomas
Moonless nights haunt me. They evoke my once carefree life when I dreamed without doubt to what my future could be. I yearn for a time when my mother's tree swayed beneath the dusk like an amber sea, but the past is locked without a key. Never to return - only flee. ~ H.S. Crow
That S Poetry quotes by H.S. Crow
A beautiful poem is nothing but a mirror of philosophy through which we can see life's pure beauty. ~ Debasish Mridha
That S Poetry quotes by Debasish Mridha
Would you like some warm Spring pie?
Then, take a cup of clear blue sky.
Stir in buzzes from a bee,
Add the laughter of a tree.

A dash of sunlight should suffice
To give the dew a hint of spice.
Mix with berries, plump and sweet.
Top with fluffy clouds, and eat! ~ Paul F. Kortepeter
That S Poetry quotes by Paul F. Kortepeter
Then one day I found my head when I wasn't even trying. ~ Cat Stevens
That S Poetry quotes by Cat Stevens
My nerves are bad to-night. Yes, bad. Stay with me.
'Speak to me. Why do you never speak? Speak.
'What are you thinking of? What thinking? What?
'I never know what you are thinking. Think. ~ T. S. Eliot
That S Poetry quotes by T. S. Eliot
I used to think love was two people sucking
on the same straw to see whose thirst was stronger,

but then I whiffed the crushed walnuts of your nape,
traced jackals in the snow-covered tombstones of your teeth.

I used to think love was a non-stop saxophone solo
in the lungs, till I hung with you like a pair of sneakers

from a phone line, and you promised to always smell
the rose in my kerosene. I used to think love was terminal

pelvic ballet, till you let me jog beside while you pedaled
all over hell on the menstrual bicycle, your tongue

ripping through my prairie like a tornado of paper cuts.
I used to think love was an old man smashing a mirror

over his knee, till you helped me carry the barbell
of my spirit back up the stairs after my car pirouetted

in the desert. You are my history book. I used to not believe
in fairy tales till I played the dunce in sheep's clothing

and felt how perfectly your foot fit in the glass slipper
of my ass. But then duty wrapped its phone cord

around my ankle and yanked me across the continent.
And now there are three thousand miles between the u

and s in esophagus. And being without you is like standing
at a cement-filled wall with a roll of Yugoslavian nickels

and making a wish. Some days I miss you so much
I'd jump off the roof of your office building

ju ~ Jeffrey McDaniel
That S Poetry quotes by Jeffrey McDaniel
We love that s why life is full of so many wonderful gifts. ~ Rumi
That S Poetry quotes by Rumi
I wanted to ask you about your vision of perfection in an imperfect world, or what side of the earth calls out to you when you touch a physical globe, or maybe about your greatest heartache and how you still go on as your world continues turning, or what you do with a memory once lodged inside your bones that;s still breathing, and burning. But you're still a stranger, and I'm overly polite, so I'll ask all about your day when I'd rather know about your life. ~ Victoria Erickson
That S Poetry quotes by Victoria Erickson
I'm Noah, and you are the ship coasting along the banks and as long as you are my valentine I will sail between your eyes.. ~ Adel Abouhana
That S Poetry quotes by Adel Abouhana
Yeah," I said. "And I'm gonna look just like him."
The black cat paused and looked me over.
"No you ain't baby. That cat is a prince, man. He is royalty in exile. You ain't never gonna look like that. ~ S.E. Hinton
That S Poetry quotes by S.E. Hinton
Face calm and composed, Kellan simply smiled. Taking that as an affirmative response, Tory twisted to face the elevator doors. Behind her back, Kellan flashed me a devilish smile, one that clearly said, Hell if I'm doing any of that. ~ S.C. Stephens
That S Poetry quotes by S.C. Stephens
For me music is central, so when one's talking about poetry, for the most part Plato's talking primarily about words, where I talk about notes, I talk about tone, I talk about timbre, I talk about rhythms. ~ Cornel West
That S Poetry quotes by Cornel West
Always dream big and dare to believe! ~ Melinda Rabin
That S Poetry quotes by Melinda Rabin
I know some people might think it odd - unworthy even - for me to have written a cookbook, but I make no apologies. The U.S. poet laureate Billy Collins thought I had demeaned myself by writing poetry for Hallmark Cards, but I am the people's poet so I write for the people. ~ Maya Angelou
That S Poetry quotes by Maya Angelou
What a poem means is as much what it means to others as what it means to the author; and indeed, in the course of time a poet may become merely reader in respect to his own works, forgetting his original meaning. ~ T. S. Eliot
That S Poetry quotes by T. S. Eliot
For Dawkins, atheism is a necessary consequence of evolution. He has argued that the religious impulse is simply an evolutionary mistake, a 'misfiring of something useful', it is a kind if virus, parasitic on cognitive systems naturally selected because they had enabled a species to survive.

Dawkins is an extreme exponent of the scientific naturalism, originally formulated by d'Holbach, that has now become a major worldview among intellectuals. More moderate versions of this "scientism" have been articulated by Carl Sagan, Steven Weinberg, and Daniel Dennett, who have all claimed that one has to choose between science and faith. For Dennett, theology has been rendered superfluous, because biology can provide a better explanation of why people are religious. But for Dawkins, like the other "new atheists" – Sam Harris, the young American philosopher and student of neuroscience, and Christopher Hitchens, critic and journalist – religion is the cause of the problems of our world; it is the source of absolute evil and "poisons everything." They see themselves in the vanguard of a scientific/rational movement that will eventually expunge the idea of God from human consciousness.

But other atheists and scientists are wary of this approach. The American zoologist Stephen Jay Gould (1941-2002) followed Monod in his discussion of the implications of evolution. Everything in the natural world could indeed be explained by natural selection, but Gould insisted that s ~ Karen Armstrong
That S Poetry quotes by Karen Armstrong
I want to live so that everything around me remains clean. I want to think about other people more. Pushing people out of the way and trying to climb over their heads are no good. Chasing nothing but money – that's no good eiher, like knocking your brains out trying to be a little more famous, a little more powerful. To hear the birds song and to say "Ah, they're singing!" To see the flowers and to say "Ah they're blooming!" That,s the way to live. ~ Yasushi Inoue
That S Poetry quotes by Yasushi Inoue
Because these wings are no longer wings to fly
But merely vans to beat the air
The air which is now thoroughly small and dry
Smaller and dryer than the will
Teach us to care and not to care
Teach us to sit still ~ T. S. Eliot
That S Poetry quotes by T. S. Eliot
Thorns with rose petals, beauty with imperfection, softness of insensibility, pain of love; duality of human nature ~ Val Uchendu
That S Poetry quotes by Val Uchendu
Dare to Dream
Yes, if you can dare to dream.
Surely you can catch the sunlight's beam.
While all else seems to fail.
Truth shall forever prevail.

Evolution

Idea
Perspective
Word

Breaks into our code
Per-mutating atoms
Of our evolutionary Self-s

Our sensory navigating device
Accepts or rejects the impulse
Creating realities of our choice

A natural drift takes us from an amoeba to a human
A very determined choice takes us further
Allowing us
To squeeze our way through
To awake-n

My heart is small, like a love of buttons or black pepper. ~ S. Jane Sloat
That S Poetry quotes by S. Jane Sloat
all we have left are broken memories
of drunken nights,
where I told you I loved you
and you lied and said you loved me too. ~ R.s. Oceans
That S Poetry quotes by R.s. Oceans
There is a wilderness we walk alone
However well-companioned ~ Stephen Vincent Benet
That S Poetry quotes by Stephen Vincent Benet
I didn't shiver. I get muscle twitches sometimes. That's all. ~ Jim Butcher
That S Poetry quotes by Jim Butcher
Everybody has their own idea of what's a poet. Robert Frost, President Johnson, T.S.Eliot, Rudolf Valentino - they're all poets. I like to think of myself as the one who carries the light bulb. ~ Bob Dylan
That S Poetry quotes by Bob Dylan
There seems to be an audience that demands everything be explained to them that everything be easy. And I don t think that s doing us any good as a culture. The ease with which we can accomplish or conjure any possible imaginable scenario through CGI is almost directly proportionate to how uninterested we re becoming in all of this. I can remember Ray Harryhausen s animated skeletons in Jason and the Argonauts. I can remember Willis O Brien s King Kong. I can remember being awed at the artistry that had made those things possible. Yes I knew how it was done. But it looked so wonderful. These days I can see half a million Orcs coming over a hill and I am bored. I am not impressed at all. Because frankly I could have gotten someone a passerby on the street who could have gotten the same effect if you d given them half a million dollars to do it. It removes artistry and imagination and places money in the driver s seat and I think it s a pretty straight equation - that there is an inverse relationship between money and imagination. ~ Alan Moore
That S Poetry quotes by Alan Moore
Sisters we gather,
In answer to the call,
To fulfill our destiny
As guardians this side of the wall.

"Where the fabric wears thin,
And our enemy's at hand,
We must thrust him back
Into his own land.

"We honor our legacy
And before the night is done,
Sisters past, present and future
Will unite as one. ~ S.L. Stacy
That S Poetry quotes by S.L. Stacy
Rules for making the world:
1. Stand up & do the thing you see needs doing.
2. That's it.
(If it was easy, we'd be having a different conversation.)
- Action Plan ~ Brian Andreas
That S Poetry quotes by Brian Andreas
the flicker of a memory
is all we can cling to
for our cherished ghosts

From "Cat Paws on a Windscreen ~ J.S. Watts
That S Poetry quotes by J.S. Watts
Cry out in the wilderness with a voice that's not heard. Speak boldly in Christ though you won't say a word. ~ R'chelle Cyrus
That S Poetry quotes by R'chelle Cyrus
We all have our
state of mind-
happy or sad,
sources of both
are so relatable.
Despite showing
someone's faults & flaws
we need to cherish them.

That S Poetry quotes by Ayushi Jain
Thus, the philosopher dislikes marriage as well as what might persuade him into it??marriage is a barrier and a disaster along his route to the optimal. What great philosopher up to now has been married? Heraclitus, Plato, Descartes, Spinoza, Leibtniz, Kant, Schopenhauer?? None of these got married. What`s more, we cannot even imagine them married. A married philosopher belongs in a comedy, that`s my principle. And Socrates, the exception, the malicious Socrates, it appears, got married ironically to demonstrate this very principle.

Every philosopher would speak as once Buddha spoke when someone told him of the birth his son, "Rahula has been born to me. A shackle has been forged for me." (Rahula here means "a little demon"). To every "free spirit" there must come a reflective hour, provided that previously he has had a one without thought, of the sort that came then to Buddha - "Life in a house," he thought to himself, "is narrow and confined, a polluted place. Freedom consists of abandoning houses;" "because he thought this way, he left the house. ~ Friedrich Nietzsche
That S Poetry quotes by Friedrich Nietzsche
Poetry too is a little incarnation, giving body to what had been before invisible and inaudible. ~ C.S. Lewis
That S Poetry quotes by C.S. Lewis
We are the hollow men
We are the stuffed men
Leaning together
Headpiece filled with straw. Alas!
Our dried voices, when
We whisper together
Are quiet and meaningless
As wind in dry grass
Or rats' feet over broken glass
In our dry cellar
Shape without form, shade without colour,
Paralysed force, gesture without motion;
- The Hollow Men ~ T. S. Eliot
That S Poetry quotes by T. S. Eliot
Listen to me: Life is not about principles; it`s about happiness.`
`But if you don`t have any principles, and if you don`t have faith, you can`t be happy at all,` said Kadife.
`That`s true. But in a brutal country like ours, where human life is cheap, it`s stupid to destroy yourself for the sake of your beliefs. Beliefs? High ideas? Only people in rich countries can enjoy such luxuries.`
`Actually, it`s the other way round. In a poor country, people`s sole consolation comes from their beliefs. ~ Orhan Pamuk
That S Poetry quotes by Orhan Pamuk
I guess my idea of a good audience is one that's quiet and listens, but also that's alive: they respond, they're getting the jokes, they're with me. And that' s been happening. ~ Dan Hicks
