One's perception of time was relative to one's desire for its passage. ~ Beth Fantaskey
Time Passing quotes by Beth Fantaskey
Reunions are the first day of school all over again. Time casts away familiarity and replaces it with warm confusion. Seeing how the years have frayed the friends of our youth reminds us that we too have irrevocably changed and can never return to a state of innocence again. ~ Stewart Stafford
Time Passing quotes by Stewart Stafford
It's lost time that matters - the time between time - the moments when you forget time and life just happens. ~ Chloe Thurlow
Time Passing quotes by Chloe Thurlow
It does not take much to make us realize what fools we are, but the little it takes is long in coming. ~ Flannery O'Connor
Time Passing quotes by Flannery O'Connor
for all I can really do is
stand here
in September's rain
savoring…
soaking it all in
slipping..
and simply
holding on to poetry
for dear life. ~ Sanober Khan
Time Passing quotes by Sanober Khan
I suppose, at 50, you value things in a different way. So you value connections, you value your friendships, you value your health, and you are much more aware of time passing. ~ Kenneth Branagh
Time Passing quotes by Kenneth Branagh
She's Parisian, which is to say she's melancholy. Her mood responds to the changing colours of her city. She can feel a sudden surge of sorrow or even hope for no reason at all. In the blink of an eye, all those lost memories and smells come flooding back, reminding her of loved ones who are no longer there. And time passing by. ~ Anne Berest
Time Passing quotes by Anne Berest
To realize the value of 1 week, ask an editor of a weekly newspaper. To realize the value of 10 years, ask a newly divorced couple. To realize the value of 4 years, ask a graduate. To realize the value of 1 year, ask a student who has failed their final exam. To realize the value of 9 months, ask a mother who has given birth to a stillborn. To realize the value of 1 mont, ask a mother who has given birth prematurely. To realize the value of 1 minute, ask a person who missed the train, bus or plane. To realize the value of 1 second, ask a person who has survived an accident. To realize the value of freedom ask a person who's in prison. To realize the value of success, ask a person who has failed. To realize the value of a friend, relative, family member or partner, LOSE ONE." Time waits for no-one, treasure every split-second. ~ Katlego Semusa
Time Passing quotes by Katlego Semusa
These are the poems of a traveler and a lover who feels both the terror of time passing and the consolation of eternity. From such tension spring lovely poetic objects, ready for intelligent use. ~ Andrei Codrescu
Time Passing quotes by Andrei Codrescu
You never know beforehand what people are capable of, you have to wait, give it time, it's time that rules, time is our gambling partner on the other side of the table and it holds all the cards of the deck in its hand, we have to guess the winning cards of life, our lives. ~ Jose Saramago
Time Passing quotes by Jose Saramago
T just seemed as if she were marking time while life rocketed past. ~ Soheir Khashoggi
Time Passing quotes by Soheir Khashoggi
I remember a new heaviness in my body, but maybe that's the work of time and my looking back. ~ Alexandria Marzano-Lesnevich
Time Passing quotes by Alexandria Marzano-Lesnevich
Measuring time isn't as simple as adding or subtracting minutes from a clock...You must find your own measuring stick. ~ Lindsay Eagar
Time Passing quotes by Lindsay Eagar
Like a speeding train
I am passing by...
I don't know
where I'm heading
with whom or why
all I know is that
I will never, ever
pass from here again
all I know is I'm skidding forward
on this track of life. ~ Sanober Khan
Time Passing quotes by Sanober Khan
Neither can the wave that has passed by be recalled, nor the hour which has passed return again. ~ Ovid
Time Passing quotes by Ovid
Aging gracefully is supposed to mean trying not to hide time passing and just looking a wreck. Don't worry girls, look like a wreck, that's the way it goes. ~ Jeanne Moreau
Time Passing quotes by Jeanne Moreau
As the Wheel of Time turns, places wear many names. Men wear many names, many faces. Different faces, but always the same man. Yet no one knows the Great Pattern the Wheel weaves, or even the Pattern of an Age. We can only watch, and study, and hope. ~ Robert Jordan
Time Passing quotes by Robert Jordan
Manassa naught,
a padded white envelope
with no return address,
landlocked and antiseptic,
exploited like a gas station.
Beauty
passes through in the briefest of cameos. ~ Brian D'Ambrosio
Time Passing quotes by Brian D'Ambrosio
There is only one moment; its events are infinitely unfolding, increasing at every passing second - meaning that they were somehow compressed before. This moment was never smaller, but less beauty was exposed in the physical form, yet still this flower blooms. I think we tend to see time as the events alone; in this sense, we view objects as a means of measurement to time. But we forget the place of events in time is change. I am the measurement to my own happiness; time is the breadth of that beauty, and that beauty is the measurement of this moment's grandeur. Somehow compressed, potential beauty was enfolded infinitely from the start of time, and now waits in vain for its fullest blossoming.

The fact that there is a progression to time proves that time is not infinite; you can't approach infinity. Time is more like a dot, expanding on a plane that is infinite; but that dot may as well not be growing, because the plane that its on is growing too. Stagnant, this explains what we call "now" that moment, ever unfolding; matter changes, but not the moment; the only proof that a past exists is our memories. What did it feel like to be four? Like now. My memories of a past are an illusion, because they take place in the now, the one moment. ~ Matthew Holbert
Time Passing quotes by Matthew Holbert
Time is much more valuable than money. ~ Lailah Gifty Akita
Time Passing quotes by Lailah Gifty Akita
How can you waste time? You have only so much to use, and no matter what you do, it still passes. ~ Felix Salten
Time Passing quotes by Felix Salten
There are a few things I've learned over the years. One is that time doesn't stop for anyone; hurdling forward and onward, unstoppable and catastrophic. ~ Shawn Michael Severud
Time Passing quotes by Shawn Michael Severud
You can't replay time. ~ Lailah Gifty Akita
Time Passing quotes by Lailah Gifty Akita
Time is a sort of river of passing events, and strong is its current; no sooner is a thing brought to sight than it is swept by and another takes its place, and this too will be swept away. ~ Marcus Aurelius
Time Passing quotes by Marcus Aurelius
I'm terrified of the thought of time passing (or whatever is meant by that phrase) whether I 'do' anything or not. In a way I may believe, deep down, that doing nothing acts as a brake on 'time's - it doesn't of course. It merely adds the torment of having done nothing, when the time comes when it really doesn't matter if you've done anything or not. ~ Philip Larkin
Time Passing quotes by Philip Larkin
Maggie Botwin.

Prim, quiet lady, like an upright piano, seeming taller than she was because of the way she sat, rose and walked, and the way she held her hands in her lap and the way she coifed her hair up on top of her head, in some fashion out of World War I.

I had once heard her on a radio show describe herself as a snake charmer.

All that film whistling through her hands, sliding through her fingers, undulant and swift.

All that time passing, but to pass and repass again.

It was no different, she said, than life itself.

The future rushed at you. You had a single instant, as it flashed by, to change it into an amiable, recognizable, and decent past. Instant by instant, tomorrow blinked in your grasp. If you did not seize without holding, shape without breaking, that continuity of moments, you left nothing behind. Your object, her object, all of our objects, was to mold and print ourselves on those single fits of future that, in the touching, aged into swiftly into vanishing yesterdays. ~ Ray Bradbury
Time Passing quotes by Ray Bradbury
When you have a bad year, there is this need to package it up and write it off-as I have done in the past. I hope, in 2014, when things go badly-people create themselves a New Years's day the moment they need it. Don't make 12 resolutions in January but one with every breath. Don't wait until December 31st to start anew. You can divide time with months and days and weeks-but each minute is only a minute long and belongs completely to itself. What you do in those tiny moments that seem so inconsequential are what will define not only your year-but your life ~ S.K. Munt
Time Passing quotes by S.K. Munt
When you beat a drum, you create NOW, when silence becomes a sound so enormous and alive it feels like you're breathing in the clouds and the sky, and your heart is the rain and the thunder. ~ Ruth Ozeki
Time Passing quotes by Ruth Ozeki
An empty house had a particular sound, Colton had come to realize: a sigh made without lungs, the silent crawl of time passing with no one to measure it in beats of words and breaths. No one to speak to or listen to or watch. A loneliness that was cutting. ~ Tara Sim
Time Passing quotes by Tara Sim
And you remember how warm bourbon tasted, in a paper cup with water dipped out of the lake at your feet. How the nights were so unbearably, hauntingly beautiful that you wanted to cry. How every patch of light and shadow from the moon seemed deep and lovely. Calm or storm, it didn't matter. It was exquisite and mysterious, just because it was night. I wonder now how I lost it, the mysteriousness, the wonder. It faded steadily until one day it was entirely gone, and night became just dark, and the moon was only something that waxed and waned and heralded a changing in the weather. And rain just washed out graveled roads. The glitter was gone. And the worst part was that you didn't know exactly at what point it disappeared. There was nothing you could point to and say: now, there. One day you saw that it was missing and had been missing for a long time. It wasn't even anything to grieve over, it had been such a long time passing. The glitter and hush-breath quality just slipped away...there isn't even a scene--not for me, nothing so definite--just the seepage, the worms of time...I look at my children now and I think: how long before they slip away, before I am disappointed in them. ~ Shirley Ann Grau
Time Passing quotes by Shirley Ann Grau
Time is a brisk wind, for each hour it brings something new ... but who can understand and measure its sharp breath, its mystery and its design? ~ Paracelsus
Time Passing quotes by Paracelsus
If we fix a goal and work towards it, then we are never just passing time. ~ Anna Neagle
Time Passing quotes by Anna Neagle
Some only learn the value of time when it's too late! ~ Stephen Richards
Time Passing quotes by Stephen Richards
Fast car ... You can drive anywhere in just a few minutes and time becomes just another thing we take advantage of never appreciating each moment that passes as a blessing from God. ~ Sarah Price
Time Passing quotes by Sarah Price
Take a moment in between breaths to let yourself see what's left to be seen, all the places you've been. Your old haunts. I pass by them every day, and after all these years I'll find myself wondering if they're just facades, like the saloon fronts and gun shops of an old ghost town set. As if I can poke my head inside the doors in the light of day and see nothing but framed out rooms and sandy floors, existing for no other reason than to give structure to who I used to be. ~ Anne Clendening
Time Passing quotes by Anne Clendening
The best thing about time passing is the privilege of running out of it, of watching the wave of mortality break over me and everyone I know, ~ Sarah Manguso
Time Passing quotes by Sarah Manguso
Dare to keep moving when it is a must and dare to keep waiting when you have to, but note, you shall always keep waiting if you keep waiting and you shall always keep moving when you keep moving! ~ Ernest Agyemang Yeboah
Time Passing quotes by Ernest Agyemang Yeboah
But until this night, she had never once actually wet the bed. And now that she has, we just lie there in the accident, and the minutes of the clock keep changing, and the love I have for her keeps growing, and we both keep drawing breath.
What was so horrible about it? Why had I always been so angry? What was my need to always be right? To win every argument with her? To out-stubborn a dog?
And just like that, all the anger is gone. Released like the emptying of a bladder into soft cotton sheets as we lie in the wetness. ~ Steven Rowley
Time Passing quotes by Steven Rowley
Manage your time and life. ~ Lailah Gifty Akita
Time Passing quotes by Lailah Gifty Akita
Our ability to detect and measure the passage of time is burdensome. The conception and sensation of time bears down upon all of us. It weighs us down; it compresses our souls. There is a variety of ways to escape the dull passage of time or the fearfulness of our accelerating march towards death. We must choose our mechanisms for dealing with the inexorability of time and our finiteness. We can fill our void with work or pleasure, laughter or pain, and fretfulness or courage. We can seek a sense of purposefulness or acknowledge the meaninglessness of life. We can seek to escape the drudgery and pain of life through alcohol, drugs, or pleasure seeking, or by working to support our families and create artistic testaments to our worldly existence. ~ Kilroy J. Oldster
Time Passing quotes by Kilroy J. Oldster
TIME: Today Is My Everything ~ Richie Norton
Time Passing quotes by Richie Norton
Until now, I've been writing about "now" as if it were literally an instant of time, but of course human faculties are not infinitely precise. It is simplistic to suppose that physical events and mental events march along exactly in step, with the stream of "actual moments" in the outside world and the stream of conscious awareness of them perfectly synchronized. The cinema industry depends on the phenomenon that what seems to us a movie is really a succession of still pictures, running at twenty-five [sic] frames per second. We don't notice the joins. Evidently the "now" of our conscious awareness stretches over at least 1/25 of a second.

In fact, psychologists are convinced it can last a lot longer than that. Take he familiar "tick-tock" of the clock. Well, the clock doesn't go "tick-tock" at all; it goes "tick-tick," every tick producing the same sound. It's just that our consciousness runs two successive ticks into a singe "tick-tock" experience - but only if the duration between ticks is less than about three seconds. A really bug pendulum clock just goes "tock . . . tock . . . tock," whereas a bedside clock chatters away: "ticktockticktock..." Two to three seconds seems to be the duration over which our minds integrate sense data into a unitary experience, a fact reflected in the structure of human music and poetry. ~ Paul Davies
Time Passing quotes by Paul Davies
You stayed because you'd invested so much time in your relationship that it would be a waste to walk away. ~ A.L. Michael
Time Passing quotes by A.L. Michael
Psychologists have devised some ingenious ways to help unpack the human "now." Consider how we run those jerky movie frames together into a smooth and continuous stream. This is known as the "phi phenomenon." The essence of phi shows up in experiments in a darkened room where two small spots are briefly lit in quick succession, at slightly separated locations. What the subjects report seeing is not a succession of spots, but a single spot moving continuously back and forth. Typically, the spots are illuminated for 150 milliseconds separated by an interval of fifty milliseconds. Evidently the brain somehow "fills in" the fifty-millisecond gap. Presumably this "hallucination" or embellishment occurs after the event, because until the second light flashes the subject cannot know the light is "supposed" to move. This hints that the human now is not simultaneous with the visual stimulus, but a bit delayed, allowing time for the brain to reconstruct a plausible fiction of what has happened a few milliseconds before.

In a fascinating refinement of the experiment, the first spot is colored red, the second green. This clearly presents the brain with a problem. How will it join together the two discontinuous experiences - red spot, green spot - smoothly? By blending the colors seamlessly into one another? Or something else? In fact, subjects report seeing the spot change color abruptly in the middle of the imagined trajectory, and are even able to indicate exactly where usin ~ Paul Davies
Time Passing quotes by Paul Davies
I have lived, I have traveled the world, and now, like a worn-out clock, my life is winding down, the hands slowing, stepping out of the flow of time. If one steps out of time what does one have? Why, the past of course, gradually being worn away by the years as a pebble halted on a riverbed is eroded by the passage of water. ~ Tan Twan Eng
Time Passing quotes by Tan Twan Eng
Pastime passing excellent, if it he husbanded with modesty. ~ William Shakespeare
Time Passing quotes by William Shakespeare
Time unlived grows old
Like unworn robes in a locked chest. ~ Oktay Rifat
Time Passing quotes by Oktay Rifat
Ah, how quickly the hands on the clock circle toward the future we thought was far away! And how soon we become our mothers. ~ Peggy Toney Horton
Time Passing quotes by Peggy Toney Horton
Time slips. Days pass. Years fade. Life ends. And what we came to do on earth must be done while there is time! ~ Milan Jed
Time Passing quotes by Milan Jed
The funny thing about time in the OR, whether you race frenetically or proceed steadily, is that you have no sense of it passing. If boredom is, as Heidegger argued, the awareness of time passing, then surgery felt like the opposite: the intense focus made the arms of the clock seem arbitrarily placed. ~ Paul Kalanithi
Time Passing quotes by Paul Kalanithi
The only time that exists in life is now. ~ Ken Poirot
Time Passing quotes by Ken Poirot
But however minimal, however threadbare, it (collective memory) is ballast of a kind. We all need that seven-eighths of the iceberg, the ballast of the past, a general past, the place from which we came.
That is why history should be taught in school. to all children, as much of it as possible. If you have no sense of the past, no access to historical narrative, you are afloat, untethered; you cannot see yourself as a part of the narrative, you cannot place yourself within a context. You will not have an understanding of time, and a respect for memory and its subtle victory over the remorselessness of time. ~ Penelope Lively
Time Passing quotes by Penelope Lively
The slower your path, the muddier your boots?'
'Even so,' Icarium said, nodding.
'Time is nothing like that.'
'Are you so certain? When we must wait, our minds fill with sludge, random thoughts like so much refuse. When we are driven to action, our current is swift, the water seemingly clear, cold and sharp. ~ Steven Erikson
Time Passing quotes by Steven Erikson
Time is mutable! Time changes! Take your time, but, as much as possible; don't forget to take all the chances in your life time! ~ Ernest Agyemang Yeboah
Time Passing quotes by Ernest Agyemang Yeboah
Yet you could feel a vibration in the air, a sense of hastening. It had started with the moon, inaccessible poem that it was. Now men had walked upon it, rubber treads on a pearl of the gods. Perhaps it was an awareness of time passing, the last summer of the decade. Sometimes I just wanted to raise my hands and stop. But stop what? Maybe just growing up. ~ Patti Smith
Time Passing quotes by Patti Smith
If you can hear time passing it makes the day last longer. I've come to appreciate a long day. ~ Truman Capote
Time Passing quotes by Truman Capote
No matter how much time passes, no matter what takes place in the interim, there are some things we can never assign to oblivion, memories we can never rub away. ~ Haruki Murakami
Time Passing quotes by Haruki Murakami
One morning I woke up and was plunged into psychological shock. I had forgotten I was free. ~ Jack Henry Abbott
Time Passing quotes by Jack Henry Abbott
Although we try to control it in a million different ways, the only things you can ever really do to time are enjoy it, or waste it. That's it. ~ A.J. Compton
Time Passing quotes by A.J. Compton
I feel the weight of time passing, slipping through my fingers faster than I can hold on to it. ~ Caisey Quinn
Time Passing quotes by Caisey Quinn
Each generation searches their memories for time lost, feels the urgent exigencies of the present, and worries about the uncertainty of the future. Akin to preceding generations, how we live, the choices we make for surviving and loving, is our story. ~ Kilroy J. Oldster
Time Passing quotes by Kilroy J. Oldster
We cannot know what time will do to us with its fine, indistinguishable layers upon layers, we cannot know what it might make of us. It advances stealthily, day by day and hour by hour and step by poisoned step, never drawing attention to its surreptitious labours, so respectful and considerate that it never once gives us a sudden prod or a nasty fright. Every morning, it turns up with its soothing, invariable face and tells us exactly the opposite of what is actually happening: that everything is fine and nothing has changed, that everything is just as it was yesterday
the balance of power
that nothing has been gained and nothing lost, that our face is the same, as is our hair and our shape, that the person who hated us continues to hate us and the person who loved us continues to love us. ~ Javier Marias
Time Passing quotes by Javier Marias
Sounds of a San Juan night, drifting across the city through layers of humid air; sounds of life and movement, people getting ready and people giving up, the sound of hope and the sound of hanging on, and behind them all, the quiet, deadly ticking of a thousand hungry clocks, the lonely sound of time passing in the long Caribbean night. ~ Hunter S. Thompson
Time Passing quotes by Hunter S. Thompson
Did time exist before we could count it ~ E.webb
Time Passing quotes by E.webb
She could've stared into those eyes for a thousand years and never noticed the time passing by. ~ Ilona Andrews
Time Passing quotes by Ilona Andrews
Life is funny...we never know what's in store for us and time brings on what is meant to be. ~ April Mae Monterrosa
Time Passing quotes by April Mae Monterrosa
Time can do all sorts of things. It's almost like a magician. It can turn autumn into spring and babies into children, seeds into flowers and tadpoles into frogs, caterpillars into cocoons, and cocoons into butterflies. And life into death. There's nothing that time can't do. Except run backwards. That's its trouble really, it can only go one way. ~ Alex Shearer
Time Passing quotes by Alex Shearer
Two years in a child's life is the distance between stars. ~ Nancy Horan
Time Passing quotes by Nancy Horan
...we're not eighteen anymore. We've lived. We've created things that last – things of joy, and things of burden. ~ Dianna Hardy
Time Passing quotes by Dianna Hardy
Be free to do what you want to... before the time is through. ~ RSCruz
Time Passing quotes by RSCruz
Time is priceless gift.
Time defined moments.
Time lost can not be redefined.
May you find the value of time as your greatest wealth. ~ Lailah Gifty Akita
Time Passing quotes by Lailah Gifty Akita
Time may heal your wounds but it doesn't heal your scars! ~ Lily Amis
Time Passing quotes by Lily Amis
If time waits for no one then let me show you how it does, by smash your watch. ~ Srinivas Shenoy
Time Passing quotes by Srinivas Shenoy
There are some moments you'd rather sleep through, pass from point A to point B without awareness of the time passing or the events that carry you from present to future. And it's mostly those moments in which it's smarter-safer- to stay awake. ~ Robin Wasserman
Time Passing quotes by Robin Wasserman
It is we who move through time, not the reverse. When we walk beyond any one of life's instants, it becomes nothing more than a receding milestone. We can look back, but we cannot retrace our steps. The past remains stationary, while we are doomed to move ever onwards. To do otherwise is against nature. ~ Andrew Levkoff
Time Passing quotes by Andrew Levkoff
There is so little time for us all, I need to be able to say what I want quickly and to as many people as possible. Time passes so slowly if you are unaware of it and so quickly if you are aware of it. ~ Marc Bolan
Time Passing quotes by Marc Bolan
Time moves so slowly. Or perhaps it doesn't move at all and it is we who pass through it. ~ Isabel Allende
Time Passing quotes by Isabel Allende
The proper, wise balancing
of one's whole life may depend upon the
feasibility of a cup of tea at an unusual hour. ~ Arnold Bennett
Time Passing quotes by Arnold Bennett
In the wink of an eye, all quaint days of the past, the present, and future will meld together into the bottomless unknown of perpetuity. Only trace evidence of our invertebrate existence will anoint future generations. In the crinkle of time, our houses will crumble apart. Companies that we worked for will go out of business or merge with other nameless conglomerates. What will survive us are our children and our words. ~ Kilroy J. Oldster
Time Passing quotes by Kilroy J. Oldster
Slowly, even though I thought it would never happen, New York lost its charm for me. I remember arriving in the city for the first time, passing with my parents through the First World's Club bouncers at Immigration, getting into a massive cab that didn't have a moment to waste, and falling in love as soon as we shot onto the bridge and I saw Manhattan rise up through the looks of parental terror reflected in the window. I lost my virginity in New York, twice (the second one wanted to believe he was the first so badly). I had my mind blown open by the combination of a liberal arts education and a drug-popping international crowd. I became tough. I had fun. I learned so much.
But now New York was starting to feel empty, a great party that had gone on too long and was showing no sign of ending soon. I had a headache, and I was tired. I'd danced enough. I wanted a quiet conversation with someone who knew what load-shedding was. ~ Mohsin Hamid
Time Passing quotes by Mohsin Hamid
Listening (had there been any one to listen) from the upper rooms of the empty house only gigantic chaos streaked with lightning could have been heard tumbling and tossing, as the winds and waves disported themselves like the amorphous bulks of leviathans whose brows are pierced by no light of reason, and mounted one on top of another, and lunged and plunged in the darkness or the daylight (for night and day, month and year ran shapelessly together) in idiot games, until it seemed as if the universe were battling and tumbling, in brute confusion and wanton lust aimlessly by itself. ~ Virginia Woolf
Time Passing quotes by Virginia Woolf
When I wrote 'The Interestings,' I wanted to let time unspool, to give the book the feeling of time passing. I had to allow myself the freedom to move back and forth in time freely, and to trust that readers would accept this. ~ Meg Wolitzer
Time Passing quotes by Meg Wolitzer
Wasting time is a stupid thing to do in this big ol' ugly world. ~ Rochelle Maya Callen
Time Passing quotes by Rochelle Maya Callen
Time passes, like clouds in the sky. Weeks and months go by as if they were a single day. Summer fades to fall, winter yields to spring, different minutes of the same hour. ~ Martel, Yann
Time Passing quotes by Martel, Yann
Every Now have Then ; Every Then have Now ! ~ Syed Sharukh
Time Passing quotes by Syed Sharukh
In a way, a garden is the most useless of creations, the most slippery of creations: it is not like a painting or a piece of sculpture - it won't accrue value as time goes on. Time is its enemy' time passing is merely the countdown for the parting between garden and gardener. ~ Jamaica Kincaid
Time Passing quotes by Jamaica Kincaid
The rooks were sailing about the cathedral towers; and the towers themselves, overlooking many a long unaltered mile of the rich country and its pleasant streams, were cutting the bright morning air as if there were no such thing as change on earth. Yet the bells, when they sounded told me sorrowfully of change in everything; told me of their own age, and my pretty Dora's youth; and of the many, never old, who had lived and loved and died, while the reverberations of the bells had hummed through the rusty armour of the Black Prince hanging up within, and, motes upon the deep of Time, had lost themselves in air, as circles do in water. ~ Charles Dickens
Time Passing quotes by Charles Dickens
We all end up living secret lives. We create what we are willing to admire and admiring what we shouldn't confess to the secret ofour own sin, our own insufficiency, our own sadness. We all end up taking our secrets into the world and handing them over to strangers, only to realize it's often too late to claim them back. The very nature of time passing is sad beyond words. Memories mean they're gone. ~ Alexander Theroux
Time Passing quotes by Alexander Theroux
What is time? How is it measured? Why do we measure it? What is its purpose?
-Mr. Ludwig ~ S.L. Whyte
Time Passing quotes by S.L. Whyte
There are some things in this world that can be done over, and some that can't. And time passing is one thing that can't be redone. Come this far, and you can't go back. ~ Haruki Murakami
Time Passing quotes by Haruki Murakami
With enough time, you can get used to almost anything. ~ Katherine Applegate
Time Passing quotes by Katherine Applegate
They waited and watched, while the clocks seemed to resist time. ~ R.J. Lawrence
Time Passing quotes by R.J. Lawrence
For children, childhood is timeless. It is always the present. Everything is in the present tense. Of course, they have memories. Of course, time shifts a little for them and Christmas comes round in the end. But they don't feel it. Today is what they feel, and when they say 'When I grow up,' there is always an edge of disbelief - how could they ever be other than what they are? ~ Ian McEwan
Time Passing quotes by Ian McEwan
[S]torytelling, in ancient and modern practice, is always a contemplation of the experience of time passing. A story depends on things not standing still, on the built-in condition of impermanence. ~ Joan Silber
Time Passing quotes by Joan Silber
I stood before her asserting my age, but in truth not knowing where the years had gone or how they had led up to this moment. ~ David Dabydeen
Time Passing quotes by David Dabydeen
When I was fifteen, all I wanted was to go off to some other world, a place beyond anybody's reach. A place beyond the flow of time.
- But there's no place like that in this world.
- Exactly. Which is why I'm living here, in this world where things are continually damaged, where the heart is fickle, where time flows past without a break. ~ Haruki Murakami
Time Passing quotes by Haruki Murakami
I think I might understand the way time works: how its passing is impossible to see but when it's gone, you feel it. ~ Lysley Tenorio
Time Passing quotes by Lysley Tenorio
Time as hunger.
Time passing and gazing.
Time as perseverance.
Mountain time.
Time as paper folded to look like a mountain.
Time compared to the wild fantastic silence of stars. ~ Anne Carson
Time Passing quotes by Anne Carson
You have got to own your days and live them, each one of them, every one of them, or else the years go by and none of them belong to you. ~ Herb Gardner
Time Passing quotes by Herb Gardner
I am sad when I think that the years go by like sacks that we mark "Returned Empty," sad when I think that we shall be separated from one another and from ourselves. ~ Eugene Ionesco
