Listen to your instinct. It is your greatest treasure. Your beauty in the outside reflects your inner beauty. ~ Lailah Gifty Akita
Self Instinct quotes by Lailah Gifty Akita
Intellectuals don't mix-up Behavior with Relationship because behavior is temporary where-as Relationship is Permanent. ~ Hems
Self Instinct quotes by Hems
Intelligence is a multiplication of Experiences & Surroundings we come across in our childhood. ~ Hems
Self Instinct quotes by Hems
Just as television didn't put an end to radio or the movies (to say nothing of books), I don't think e-books will put an end to hard copies, even for someone like me who loves technology and does not fetishize the physical medium of books. ~ Steven Pinker, author of The Lauguage Instinct, How the Mind Works The Blank Slate and The Stuff of Thought: Language as a Window into Human Nature. ~ Leah Price
Self Instinct quotes by Leah Price
You can't learn how to be elegant; you can only learn how to avoid mistakes. The rest is instinct. Elegance is about the way you cross your legs, not the label or the newest clothes from the latest collection. ~ Carine Roitfeld
Self Instinct quotes by Carine Roitfeld
What the media are telling you to be afraid of are the wrong things ... Fear is a necessary ingredient of our survival instincts. ~ Michael Moore
Self Instinct quotes by Michael Moore
All he knew was that he could not eat the flesh of this black man, and thus hereditary instinct, ages old, usurped the functions of his untaught mind and saved him from transgressing a worldwide law of whose very existence he was ignorant. ~ Edgar Rice Burroughs
Self Instinct quotes by Edgar Rice Burroughs
There are apparently two hypotheses about jealousy: that it is a product of civilization and that it is a basic instinct of animals. ~ Kobo Abe
Self Instinct quotes by Kobo Abe
To horses, everyday is a new day to survive. It's a natural instinct. They don't think of the past or the future, only the present. So in terms of trying to teach your horse or build a special bond, patience is the key to every stall's door. ~ Sheikha Hissa Hamdan Al Maktoum
Self Instinct quotes by Sheikha Hissa Hamdan Al Maktoum
The requirements of the theatre are very great
a strong constitution, energy and unflagging purpose, charm of feature, these alone do not necessarily mean anything, and they must not be relied upon as assurances of an easy conquest of the public heart. It is not only a question of fitness for the work, but of long years of most diligent effort to master the technique of the theatre, and to develop whatever of the art instinct we may possess upon the simplest, broadest, and most human lines. ~ Julia Marlowe
Self Instinct quotes by Julia Marlowe
I prepare to the point where instinct take over ... ~ Stephen Curry
Self Instinct quotes by Stephen Curry
I will follow my instincts, and be myself for good or ill. ~ John Muir
Self Instinct quotes by John Muir
Whenever one speaks of lonely people one takes too much for granted. One thinks people all know what they're dealing with. No, they do not. They've never seen a lonely person, they've simply hated him without knowing him. They've been his neighbours who've used him up, they were the voices in the next room who tempted him. They roused things up against him, getting them to make a din and drown him out. Children ganged up against him when he was a tender child, and at every stage of his growing up he grew hostile to grown-ups . They tracked him to his hiding-place like an animal of chase and throughout his long youth there was no closed season. And when he didn't allow himself to be worn out so that he got away they yelled about what came forth from him and called it ugly and were suspicious of it. And as he didn't stop they grew more obvious and gobbled up his food and breathed up his air and spat into his poverty so that he himself became disgusted at it. They brought him into disrepute as if he were a contagion and threw stones at him to speed his departure. And they were right to follow their age-old instinct: because he really was their enemy. But then when he didn't look up they had second thoughts. They suspected that in all of this they had acted as he had willed them to act; they had strengthened him in his solitude and had helped him separate himself from them for ever. ~ Rainer Maria Rilke
Self Instinct quotes by Rainer Maria Rilke
It's all in the reflexes. ~ "Jack Burton" (Kurt Russell), Movie Big Trouble In Little China
Self Instinct quotes by
Moths don't need to explain why they're attracted to the light. ~ Marty Rubin
Self Instinct quotes by Marty Rubin
As we pulled up at the big school gates, I saw tears rolling down my dad's face. I felt confused as to what part of nature or love thought this was a good idea. My instinct certainly didn't; but what did I know? I was only eight.
So I embarked on this mission called boarding school. And how do you prepare for that one?
In truth, I found it really hard; there were some great moments like building dens in the snow in winter, or getting chosen for the tennis team, or earning a naval button, but on the whole it was a survival exercise in learning to cope.
Coping with fear was the big one. The fear of being left and the fear of being bullied--both of which were very real.
What I learned was that I couldn't manage either of those things very well on my own.
It wasn't anything to do with the school itself, in fact the headmaster and teachers were almost invariably kind, well-meaning and good people, but that sadly didn't make surviving it much easier.
I was learning very young that if I were to survive this place then I had to find some coping mechanisms.
My way was to behave badly, and learn to scrap, as a way to avoid bullies wanting to target me. It was also a way to avoid thinking about home. But not thinking about home is hard when all you want is to be at home.
I missed my mum and dad terribly, and on the occasional night where I felt this worst, I remember trying to muffle my tears in my pillow while the rest of the dormitory slept.
Bear Grylls
Self Instinct quotes by Bear Grylls
The first source of advice you should listen to is your instinct. ~ Mitta Xinindlu
Self Instinct quotes by Mitta Xinindlu
As man advances in civilization, and small tribes are united into larger communities, the simplest reason would tell each individual that he ought to extend his social instincts and sympathies to all members of the same nation, though personally unknown to him. This point being once reached, there is only an artificial barrier to prevent his sympathies extending to the men of all nations and races. ~ Charles Darwin
Self Instinct quotes by Charles Darwin
You just go with your gut instinct, because your gut is smarter than your heart. ~ Gerard Way
Self Instinct quotes by Gerard Way
The anxiety arising from the perpetual activity of the death instinct, though never eliminated, is counteracted and kept at bay by the power of the life instinct. ~ Melanie Klein
Self Instinct quotes by Melanie Klein
There is convincing evidence that the search for solitude is not a luxury but a biological need. Just as humans posses a herding instinct that keeps us close to others most of the time, we also have a conflicting drive to seek out solitude. If the distance between ourselves and others becomes too great, we experience isolation and alienation, yet if the proximity to others becomes too close, we feel smothered and trapped. ~ Bill Vaughan
Self Instinct quotes by Bill Vaughan
I was taught that candles are like house cats - domesticated versions of something wild and dangerous. There's no way to know how much of that killer instinct lurks in the darkness. I used to think the house-burning paranoia was the result of some upper-middle-class fear regarding the potential destruction of a half-million-dollar Westchester house the size of a matchbox. But then I realized the fear stemmed from something far less complex: we're not used to fire. Candles are a staple of the Judaic existence and, like many suburban residents before us, we're pretty bad Jews. ~ Sloane Crosley
Self Instinct quotes by Sloane Crosley
Early in my career, I'd plan something out for my characters. But I've learned that if you know who your character is and you go on instinct, it won't be wrong. It's never wrong. It's just different. ~ Ari Millen
Self Instinct quotes by Ari Millen
Only those will apprehend religion who can probe its depth, who can combine intuition and love with the rigor of method ~ Abraham Joshua Heschel
Self Instinct quotes by Abraham Joshua Heschel
Some plays just come out of me, just on instincts. I'll make a play and wonder, How did I do that? ~ Roberto Alomar
Self Instinct quotes by Roberto Alomar
But the instinct of hoarding, like all other instincts, tends to become hypertrophied and perverted; and with the institution of private property comes another institution-that of plunder and brigandage. In private life, no motive of action is at present so powerful and so persistent as acquisitiveness, which unlike most other desires, knows no satiety. The average man is rich enough when he has a little more than he has got, and not till then. ~ William Ralph Inge
Self Instinct quotes by William Ralph Inge
For Rousseau and Mandeville the absence of a moral instinct meant the laws of society had no moral validity, they were nothing but the inventions of the cunning and the powerful, in order to maintain or to acquire an unnatural and unjust superiority over the rest of their fellow creatures. ~ Gertrude Himmelfarb
Self Instinct quotes by Gertrude Himmelfarb
And by forcing ourselves to learn something, we place ourselves in a selective environment that puts a premium on a future instinctive solution to the problem. Thus, learning gradually gives way to instinct. ~ Matt Ridley
Self Instinct quotes by Matt Ridley
And suddenly I realized that I was no longer driving the car consciously. I was driving it by a kind of instinct, only I was in a different dimension. ~ Ayrton Senna
Self Instinct quotes by Ayrton Senna
Instinct caused a woman who had once been so attractive to still attempt makeup and hairdos, Marisa guessed, but more often than not, the effort came off with Mama looking like a clown. Seeing it broke Marisa's heart, but she didn't interfere. Her mother didn't know the difference and these days, it was rare for anyone but Marisa to see her. What little family they had seldom came and Mama's friends in Agua Dulce, out of respect, were reluctant to gawk at her decline. ~ Anna Jeffrey
Self Instinct quotes by Anna Jeffrey
Having a gut instinct that told me how to be a moral person might be evolutionarily handy. On the other hand, emotional moral judgment also enables people to do really horrible things to each other, like lynching or "honor" killings, and justify them by calling them "moral." Because sociopaths don't experience morality emotionally, I would argue that we are freed to be more rational and more tolerant. There is something to be said for the impartiality of pure reason - religion-created mass hysteria among the supposedly mentally healthy populace has resulted in much worse damage and carnage in the world than anything sociopaths have caused. (Although I imagine that there may sometimes be sociopaths at the head of it all, whipping up the masses to do their bidding.) ~ M.E. Thomas
Self Instinct quotes by M.E. Thomas
Human beings want to be free and however long they may agree to stay locked up, to stay oppressed, there will come a time when they say 'That's it.' Suddenly they find themselves doing something that they never would have thought they would be doing, simply because of the human instinct that makes them turn their face towards freedom. ~ Aung San Suu Kyi
Self Instinct quotes by Aung San Suu Kyi
By the law of Christ, every man is bound to love his neighbour as himself; but every servant is a neighbour of every civil lord; therefore every civil lord must love any of his servants as himself; but by natural instinct, every lord abhors slavery; therefore, by the law of charity, he is bound not to impose slavery on any brother in Christ. ~ John Wycliffe
Self Instinct quotes by John Wycliffe
I'm not taking that, Mort said, and part of him was marvelling at what a really accommodating beast a man was: when someone held something out to you, your first instinct was to take it. No matter if it was a check for a thousand dollars or a stick of dynamite with a lit and fizzing fuse, your first instinct was to take it. ~ Stephen King
Self Instinct quotes by Stephen King
I've spent my whole life doing some things because they were logical and not doing others because they were not. I've seen what happens when people act on intuition, or for illogical reasons. Sometimes the results are ludicrous and embarrassing; more often they are simply horrible. But here I am, just the same, behaving like a crackbrained crystal gazer. ~ Stephen King
Self Instinct quotes by Stephen King
That instinct, to doubt what women say, it's always there. To find some reason not to take their word. Men do it ... but we do, too. I do it. ~ Stephen King
Self Instinct quotes by Stephen King
What you intuitively desire, that is possible to you. ~ D.H. Lawrence
Self Instinct quotes by D.H. Lawrence
Trust what feels true even if that truth requires you to ignore what you know. ~ Gina Greenlee
Self Instinct quotes by Gina Greenlee
Instinct made him want to fold her into his arms and fix her hurt, but instead, he steeled himself to finish it.

"What? Why do you look so suprised? You are a sex demon. Did you think we could ride off into the sunset, set up a house and fuck up a bunch of kids? The only thing I've ever wanted from you is sex and blood. Fucking and feeding go together for me, and since I can't feed from you anymore...."

He gestured to the door.

"Get out, and don't ever come near me again."

~Con ~ Larissa Ione
Self Instinct quotes by Larissa Ione
…how ready they themselves are at bottom to make one pay; how they crave to be hangmen. There is among them an abundance of the vengeful disguised as judges, who constantly bear the word "justice" in their mouths like poisonous spittle, always with pursed lips, always ready to spit upon all who are not discontented but go their own way in good spirits…The will of the weak to represent some form of superiority, their instinct for devious paths to tyranny over the healthy – where can it not be discovered, this will to power of the weakest! ~ Friedrich Nietzsche
Self Instinct quotes by Friedrich Nietzsche
When my heart tells me that something is right, there's rarely an opportunity for logic to intervene. I go with my instinct, and see where it leads. ~ Fennel Hudson
Self Instinct quotes by Fennel Hudson
She knew by some sure instinct that when you had come right up against it, as Jeff had, you had no use for people who advised you to brace up, or who pointed out bright spots. She know that there is nothing so infuriating, when you are bearing all you can, as shallow, unrealistic optimism from someone who has not experienced the same disaster. ~ Elswyth Thane
Self Instinct quotes by Elswyth Thane
The power of patient is the greatest survival skills. ~ Lailah Gifty Akita
Self Instinct quotes by Lailah Gifty Akita
Love is the path that guides the men to the fields of infinite LIGHT! ~ Dave Zebian
Self Instinct quotes by Dave Zebian
A familiar image of a grim, frozen Russia is the babushka, the old woman, hunched and determined, head wrapped in a scarf. Her gnarled face stares out from old Ellis Island photographs and modern cable specials, and never fails to elicit awwwwws from concerned Westerners who'd love nothing more than to hug poor, helpless Granny and tell her that everything's going to be all right. That is misguided, and potentially hazardous. Women who had survived long enough to become grandmothers by the 1980s were Russia's rocks. Their generation had a hard life, even by the unforgiving standards of mother Russia. Forged from the crucible of wars, famines, and purges, the babushki had witnessed entire populations of husbands and sons vanish into the grave. These women were instilled with fierce matriarchal instinct, the notion that they were responsible for the welfare of all society, not just their kin, and underneath their kerchiefs the babushki watched, and listened, and remembered, and commanded. ~ Lev Golinkin
Self Instinct quotes by Lev Golinkin
One must make allowances for a parental instinct that has been starving for twenty-five or thirty years. It is famished, it is crazed with hunger by that time, and will be entirely satisfied with anything that comes handy; its taste is atrophied, it can't tell mud cat from shad. A devil born to a young couple is measurably recognizable by them as a devil before long, but a devil adopted by an old couple is an angel to them, and remains so, through thick and thin. ~ Mark Twain
Self Instinct quotes by Mark Twain
The shadow pulled away, moving forward quickly. My first instinct screamed Arum and to push away from it. I reached blindly for the obsidian necklace, realizing too late I didn't have it anymore.
"You're still having nightmares," the shadow said.
At the sound of the familiar voice, fear gave way to rage so potent that it tasted like a battery acid. I was on my feet before I knew it.
"Blake," I spat. ~ Jennifer L. Armentrout
Self Instinct quotes by Jennifer L. Armentrout
The fundamental axiom of economics is the human mercenary instinct. Without ~ Liu Cixin
Self Instinct quotes by Liu Cixin
There is no logical way to the discovery of these elemental laws. There is only the way of intuition, which is helped by a feeling for the order lying behind the appearance. ~ Albert Einstein
Self Instinct quotes by Albert Einstein
She kept everything with nostalgic significance, and this instinct was typical of people who are always on the move. ~ Ayse Kulin
Self Instinct quotes by Ayse Kulin
Instinct seeks satisfaction. Love is free of all demands. ~ Tito Colliander
Self Instinct quotes by Tito Colliander
You should accept the fact that there's no clear boundary between you and the horse, between rationality and instinct. It's not easy for a woman ... ~ Sibyl Von Der Schulenburg
