I'm not an '80s fan. I'm more '70s New York pre-punk kind of thing, and I guess I grew up with '90s grunge, post-punk pop music. ~ Jessica Pare
Punk Pop quotes by Jessica Pare
Damien Hirst is the Elvis of the English art world, its ayatollah, deliverer, and big-thinking entrepreneurial potty-mouthed prophet and front man. Hirst synthesizes punk, Pop Art, Jeff Koons, Marcel Duchamp, Francis Bacon, and Catholicism. ~ Jerry Saltz
Punk Pop quotes by Jerry Saltz
Loving a band with all your heart is something you understand when it happens to you. On the surface, others can see its a petty obsession, but they'll just never know the feeling of putting so much fail into a few people on the other side of the world. It's hard to explain it to them, the listening to a song after song on repeat, the waits for new albums, the excitement and surreal sensation when you finally see them live. They don't understand why the lyric books give you a sense of comfort, or why you paste photos of them on your bedroom walls. And they can't understand why one band could matter to you so much. And you think to yourself 'Because they saved my life'. But you say nothing, because thy wouldn't understand. ~ Alex Gaskath
Punk Pop quotes by Alex Gaskath
Punk rock has never really had much patience with musical virtuosity. Actually, it'd be more accurate to say that for most of its history, punk has been actively hostile to virtuosity. ~ James Surowiecki
Punk Pop quotes by James Surowiecki
Back in the late 1800s, when a place like this was originally built, you had to work with what you had, and you had to figure stuff out. You certainly couldn't Google it. You didn't have Internet. You didn't even have how-to books. You had to sit there and wrestle with it. You found this old spare part, you did this other thing, you hooked it up to a donkey, and you tried it out.
Sometimes it worked. Sometimes it didn't. But eventually you'd pop out on the other side and say, "I've got this."
Call me old-fashioned, but I've always solved problems like that.
-Chip Gaines ~ Joanna Gaines
Punk Pop quotes by Joanna Gaines
Taking pains, working hard, not flaunting his or her chops so much as relying on them, the pop artisan teeters on a fine fulcrum between the stern, sell-the-product morality of the workhorse and the artist's urge to discover a pattern in, or derive a meaning from, the random facts of the world. ~ Michael Chabon
Punk Pop quotes by Michael Chabon
Go to every IEP with a plan of your own. Be the expert. Teachers and therapists know general information only. You, on the other-hand, know the specifics about your child – you are your child's only real expert. Pop in unexpectedly to observe. Keep educators on their toes. Be kind and push gently. If needed, push hard. ~ Liz Becker
Punk Pop quotes by Liz Becker
You go to Main Street, and Wal-Mart is coming to town and kicking out all the mom and pop stores. All the people that were in the mom and pop stores are now working for Wal-Mart. ~ Dennis Quaid
Punk Pop quotes by Dennis Quaid
People in America are not ignorant of Christianity. They've heard the message, seen our churches on every corner, they flick by our Christian TV shows, they see our fish symbols on the backs of our cars. They've seen so much of pop Christian culture that they have a programmed response to us: Ignore, ignore, ignore. What's needed is a change of parameters - something that will alter their emotional response. ~ Jen Hatmaker
Punk Pop quotes by Jen Hatmaker
I'm moved by a lot of different kinds of music, whether it's pop music or R&B or straight-ahead jazz or free or opera or music from all parts of the world. ~ David Sanborn
Punk Pop quotes by David Sanborn
What did Christ really do? He hung out with hard-drinking fishermen. ~ Iggy Pop
Punk Pop quotes by Iggy Pop
I started an all-girl punk band when I was 14, and I was the drummer, not the singer. ~ Bjork
Punk Pop quotes by Bjork
I'm a big fan of doing 'Triple D.' But I don't want to do it forever, don't get me wrong! Travel away from my family, are you crazy? But do you know what it does for these mom-and-pop restaurant joints? It changes their lives forever. I mean, their businesses will never be the same. ~ Guy Fieri
Punk Pop quotes by Guy Fieri
Don't worry about mistakes. Making things out of mistakes, that's creativity. ~ Peter Max
Punk Pop quotes by Peter Max
Punk was a protest against work and against boredom. It was a sign of life, a rant, a scream, a rejection of bourgeois morals. But have things improved since then? Arguably, they've got worse. ~ Tom Hodgkinson
Punk Pop quotes by Tom Hodgkinson
[The public intellectual] will also describe how she can work a pop culture reference into her essay, comparing the Supreme Court to the creature in the number-one box office movie of the moment. Editors like this sort of mass-media integration, first, because it gives them a way to illustrate the piece, and second because they are under the delusion that pop-culture references will propel a piece's readership into the five-digit area. ~ David Brooks
Punk Pop quotes by David Brooks
I am far from an "old" person in human terms, however I've spent over half my life immersed in the punk rock and hardcore community. I am not wholly defined by that as a person, but it is something that has been part of me for a long time. ~ Jacob Bannon
Punk Pop quotes by Jacob Bannon
I have no ambitions to be a pop star. ~ Iwan Rheon
Punk Pop quotes by Iwan Rheon
I'm definitely curious. I love pop culture. I'm glued to it. I can watch garbage TV, but then I can also watch great theater. ~ Michael Kors
Punk Pop quotes by Michael Kors
Did you know that your open thighs are directly responsible for my renewable energy source? ~ Penelope Douglas
Punk Pop quotes by Penelope Douglas
Celebrity life and media culture are probably the most overbearing pop-cultural conditions that we as young people have to deal with, because it forces us to judge ourselves. ~ Lady Gaga
Punk Pop quotes by Lady Gaga
It was a fun job but I'd never claim Busted was anything other than a pop band. ~ Charlie Simpson
Punk Pop quotes by Charlie Simpson
Sometimes I won't put a lot of make up on; I won't put foundation on. I'll just pop a bit of blusher on. I'm not obsessed with trying to look like a Victoria's Secret model - it's real life. ~ Rebecca Ferguson
Punk Pop quotes by Rebecca Ferguson
I have a strong aversion to Twitter, and yet there is a social obligation that forces me to pop in and spy on celebrities now and then. I don't get Twitter. It's impossible to follow conversation threads, and it's too easy to spend hours and hours clicking on random names, and the next thing you know, you've become infatuated with Tweet photos from the Kardashians. ~ Jessica Park
Punk Pop quotes by Jessica Park
The punk credo was to stand up for your own beliefs and tastes, not bow down to yet another new set of rules. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss, indeed. ~ Billy Idol
Punk Pop quotes by Billy Idol
Everything I know about pop culture I know from 'The Simpsons,' and they say the Grammys aren't very good. ~ Jonny Greenwood
Punk Pop quotes by Jonny Greenwood
Pop pollution has an effect on musical appreciation comparable to pornography on sex. All that is beautiful, special and full of love is replaced by a grinding mechanism. Just as porn addicts lose the capacity for real sexual love, so do pop addicts lose the capacity for genuine musical experience. ~ Roger Scruton
Punk Pop quotes by Roger Scruton
Unless you are building a new company from the ground up and can install caring as your businesses' cornerstone, you have to be willing to embark on a completely cultural overhaul so that, like a local mom and pop shop, every employee is comfortable engaging in customer service, and does it authentically. ~ Gary Vaynerchuk
Punk Pop quotes by Gary Vaynerchuk
The difficulty with women in film and literature is similar to the cultural minority, in that they are often a plot device rather than a character unto themselves. For example, even a strong woman may appear alongside a man in a story, but she ultimately is part of the hero's overall goal; something to be won, or an element of his proving himself is winning her affections, or being captured or killed in order to send the hero into overdrive to complete his mission. In a story where she is the main protagonist, she often has to shed her femininity in order to complete the task. The fact that they are women overtakes from their serving the story as a character, rather than an object. Cultural minorities often appear to portray a view of their culture; the Russian will be a Russian and do Russian things. The woman will be contrary, or compensate for her womanhood by being overtly tough and masculine, or sexy and seductive therefore manipulative and ultimately something for the hero to either deny or conquer. A great example of the culture stigma NOT being exploited is in Wentworth: Doreen is an aboriginal, we see that, but being an aboriginal doesn't play as a device. It's a part of her, not the overruling definition of her, and while issues pop up regarding the fact, they are not at the forefront of the character. Women, it seems, are even more ingrained in our minds as elements or objects which only appear in order to have a titillating effect on the audience, or to serve anot ~ Max Davine
Punk Pop quotes by Max Davine
I think the sheer number of pop stars has kind of drowned out, somewhat, our interest. We're just submerged. ~ Kristin Scott Thomas
Punk Pop quotes by Kristin Scott Thomas
For too long we've been suffering the tyranny of lowest-common-denominator fare, subjected to brain-dead summer blockbusters and manufactured pop. Why? Economics. Many of our assumptions about popular taste are actually artifacts of poor supply-and-demand matching - a market response to inefficient distribution. ~ Chris Anderson
Punk Pop quotes by Chris Anderson
Toward the end of their relationship she'd told him once, "I wish I could give you what you're looking for, but I don't know what it is. There's a part of you that you keep closed off from everyone, including me. Its as if I'm not the one you're really with. Your mind is on someone else." He tried to deny it, but she didn't believe him. "I'm a woman - I know these things. When you look at me sometimes, I know you're seeing someone else. Its like you keep waiting for her to pop out of thin air to take you away from all this ... ~ Nicholas Sparks
Punk Pop quotes by Nicholas Sparks
My style of music is the great American songbook meets the pop world of the Seventies and Eighties. ~ Barry Manilow
Punk Pop quotes by Barry Manilow
The keys to life are running and reading. When you're running, there's a little person that talks to you and says, "Oh I'm tired. My lung's about to pop. I'm so hurt. There's no way I can possibly continue." You want to quit. If you learn how to defeat that person when you're running. You will how to not quit when things get hard in your life. For reading: there have been gazillions of people that have lived before all of us. There's no new problem you could have
with your parents, with school, with a bully. There's no new problem that someone hasn't already had and written about it in a book. ~ Will Smith
Punk Pop quotes by Will Smith
It's really hard to imagine there ever being the kind of impact there was when punk rock happened in the late 70's. I wish there would be one big change like that again, but I don't know if that'll ever happen. ~ Penelope Spheeris
Punk Pop quotes by Penelope Spheeris
A peculiar feeling passed over me
or, rather, through me, as if I were an umbrella remembering what it felt like to pop open in the rain. ~ Alan Bradley
Punk Pop quotes by Alan Bradley
That ability to pop back up is true of anyone who succeeds in their field. ~ Barbara Corcoran
Punk Pop quotes by Barbara Corcoran
Pop culture is not about depth. It's about marketing, supply and demand, consumerism. ~ Trevor Dunn
Punk Pop quotes by Trevor Dunn
But the reason I decided to go to New York was because I had seen Iggy Pop and I thought I had seen God. And because I had sent to Interview magazine for Rene Ricard's first book of poetry, The Blue Book. I had never sent for anything before but something told me to do this. I had read that book over and over again like a Bible. I realized that a book can reach out and embrace you like an arm and make you walk away from everything you thought you understood. ~ Jennifer Clement
