With a deliberate shrug, he stepped free of the hold on his shoulder. "Tell me something, boys," he drawled. "Do you wear that leather to turn each other on? I mean, is it a dick thing with you all?" Butch got slammed so hard against the door that his back teeth rattled.
The model shoved his perfect face into Butch's. "I'd watch your mouth, if I were you."
"Why bother, when you're keeping an eye on it for me? You gonna kiss me now?"
A growl like none Butch had ever heard came out of the guy.
"Okay, okay." The one who seemed the most normal came forward. "Back off, Rhage. Hey, come on. Let's relax."
It took a minute before the model let go.
"That's right. We're cool," Mr. Normal muttered, clapping his buddy on the back before looking at Butch. "Do yourself a favor and shut the hell up."
Butch shrugged. "Blondie's dying to get his hands on me. I can't help it."
The guy launched back at Butch, and Mr. Normal rolled his eyes, letting his friend go this time. The fist that came sailing at jaw level snapped Butch's head to one side. As the pain hit, Butch let his own rage fly. The fear for Beth, the pent-up hatred of these lowlifes, the frustration about his job, all of it came out of him. He tackled the bigger man, taking him down onto the floor. The guy was momentarily surprised, as if he hadn't expected Butch's speed or strength, and Butch took advantage of the hesitation. He clocked Blondie in the mouth as payback and then grabbed ~ J.R. Ward
Psychosomatic Pain quotes by J.R. Ward
Every day I thank God for giving me a little kind heart which bears this life ~ Ahlam Salhab
Psychosomatic Pain quotes by Ahlam Salhab
It seems to me that Christians in the West are being coddled. We suffer little in the name of Christ. Therefore, we read the Bible not with a desperate hunger for evidences of God's triumph in pain, but with a view to improving our private pleasures. ~ John Piper
Psychosomatic Pain quotes by John Piper
Get on your feet or die. ~ Paul Hoffman
Psychosomatic Pain quotes by Paul Hoffman
One whose spirit and mental strength have been strengthened by sparring with a never-say-die attitude should find no challenge too great to handle. One who has undergone long years of physical pain and mental agony to learn one punch, one kick, should be able to face any task, no matter how difficult, and carry it through to the end. A person like this can truly be said to have learned karate. ~ Gichin Funakoshi
Psychosomatic Pain quotes by Gichin Funakoshi
And all the world is football shaped, It's just for me to kick in space, And I can see, hear, smell, touch, taste, And I've got one, two, three, four, five Senses working overtime, Trying to take this all in, I've got one, two, three, four, five Senses working overtime, Trying to taste the difference, 'Tween the lemons and limes, The pain and the pleasure, And the church bells softly chime. ~ Andy Partridge
Psychosomatic Pain quotes by Andy Partridge
We endure the strokes like anvils or hard steel,
Till pain itself make us no pain to feel. ~ John Webster
Psychosomatic Pain quotes by John Webster
I said, "Jesse, don't flatter yourself that I did this for you. I mean, it has been nothing but one giant pain in the neck, having you for a roommate. Do you think I like having to come home from school or from work or whatever and having to explain stuff like the Bay of Pigs to you? Believe me, life with you is no picnic."
He didn't say anything. He just kept pulling me along.
"Or what about Tad?" I said, bringing up what I knew was a sore subject. "I mean, you think I like having you tag along on my dates? Having you out of my life is going to make things a lot simpler, so don't think, you know, I did this for you. I only did it because that stupid cat of yours has been crying its head off. And also because anything I can do to make your stupid girlfriend mad, I will."
"Nombre de Dios, Susannah," Jesse muttered. "Maria's not my girlfriend."
"Well, she certainly used to be," I said. "And what about that, anyway? That girl is a full-on skank, Jesse. I can't believe you ever agreed to marry her. I mean, what were you thinking, anyway? Couldn't you see what she was like underneath all that lace? ~ Meg Cabot
Psychosomatic Pain quotes by Meg Cabot
This is a generational difference. This is the same woman who told me to request "twilight sleep" during delivery. (Twilight sleep is the memory-erasing pain medication that doctors gave women in the 1950s whenever they had to take a baby out or put a body snatcher in.) I ~ Tina Fey
Psychosomatic Pain quotes by Tina Fey
If you see long term benefit in doing something, but short term pain then you should do it. ~ Sri Sri Ravi Shankar
Psychosomatic Pain quotes by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar
If you love someone, you'd rather suffer the pain alone to spare them. ~ Betty Smith
Psychosomatic Pain quotes by Betty Smith
In the height of the gusts, in my high position, where the seas did not break, I found myself compelled to cling tightly to the rail to escape being blown away. My face was stung to severe pain by the high-driving spindrift, and I had a feeling that the wind was blowing the cobwebs out of my sleep-starved brain. ~ Jack London
Psychosomatic Pain quotes by Jack London
There is no finish-line on the path to soul growth- there is no race, no perfect place to get to where life is easy. We can release judgement and fear-based thinking when we entertain that life is a journey with many pit-stops along the way and we are responsible for finding the beauty at every twist and turn. ~ Christine Evangelou
Psychosomatic Pain quotes by Christine Evangelou
Death is to be feared because of the pain and loss it inflicts through love, and for no other reason. ~ K.J. Parker
Psychosomatic Pain quotes by K.J. Parker
With God, brokenness is nothing more than the stage upon which the impossible is about to happen. ~ Craig D. Lounsbrough
Psychosomatic Pain quotes by Craig D. Lounsbrough
I now understand why humans smile. Forerunners have done all they can to banish smiles. Not all smiles are about greetings and joy. Some smile in shared pain. ~ Greg Bear
Psychosomatic Pain quotes by Greg Bear
When you can tell the story and it doesn't bring up any pain, you know it is healed. ~ Iyanla Vanzant
Psychosomatic Pain quotes by Iyanla Vanzant
Good pain is pain in the service of a purpose. Bad pain is pain endured because we are resisting a needed growth step. ~ Henry Cloud
Psychosomatic Pain quotes by Henry Cloud
Color possesses me. I don't have to pursue it. It will possess me always, I know it. That is the meaning of this happy hour: Color and I are one. I am a painter. ~ Paul Klee
Psychosomatic Pain quotes by Paul Klee
The mind knows the truth when your heart denies what it feels. When you don't feel safe to let people in it is because you're not ready to deal with the pain of honesty. ~ Shannon L. Alder
Psychosomatic Pain quotes by Shannon L. Alder
Pleasures, riches, honor and joy are sure to have care, disgrace, adversity and affliction in their train. There is no pleasure without pain, no joy without sorrow. O the folly of expecting lasting felicity in a vale of tears, or a paradise in a ruined world. ~ Gotthold Ephraim Lessing
Psychosomatic Pain quotes by Gotthold Ephraim Lessing
Another vital skill is managing pain. All the craziness in the world comes from people trying to escape suffering. All mixed up behaviour comes from unprocessed pain. People drink, hit their mates and children, gamble, cut themselves with razors and even kill themselves in an attempt to escape pain. I teach girls to sit with their pain, to listen to it for messages about their lives, to acknowledge and describe it rather than to run from it. They learn to write about pain, to talk about it, to express it through exercise, art, dance or music. ~ Mary Pipher
Psychosomatic Pain quotes by Mary Pipher
All life is in vain, for Death makes a nonsense of pain. ~ Gasmaskman
Psychosomatic Pain quotes by Gasmaskman
Of all the nonsense that twists the world, the concept of 'altruism' is the worst. People do what they want to do, every time. If it sometimes pains them to make a choice - if the choice turns out to look like a 'noble sacrifice' - you can be sure that it is in no wise nobler than the discomfort caused by greediness ... the unpleasant necessity of having to decide between two things both of which you would like to do when you can't do both. The ordinary bloke suffers that discomfort every day, every time he makes a choice between spending a buck on beer or tucking it away for his kids, between getting up when he's tired or spending the day in his warm bed and losing his job. No matter which he does he always chooses what seems to hurt least or pleasures most. The average chump spends his life harried by these small decisions. ~ Robert A. Heinlein
Psychosomatic Pain quotes by Robert A. Heinlein
If something can bring you great pleasure, it can also bring you pain. ~ Sri Sri Ravi Shankar
Psychosomatic Pain quotes by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar
His eyes were still closed and his body rocked gently to the music, but his face was almost ... desolate. His words matched his face, as he sang about how each day was a struggle, and never seeing my face caused him physical pain. He sang that "my face was his light, and he felt drenched in darkness without it." Tears fell freely after I heard that line. ~ S.C. Stephens
Psychosomatic Pain quotes by S.C. Stephens
DEMON MATH
What is JUST in a world
you've ripped in two
as if there could be
a half for me
a half for you
what is FAIR when
there is nothing
left to share
what is YOURS when
your pain is mine to bear
this sad math is mine
this mad path is mine
subtract they say
don't cry
back to the desk
try
forget addition
multiply
and i reply
this is why
remainders
hate
division. ~ Kami Garcia
Psychosomatic Pain quotes by Kami Garcia
For all his pain, he longed to see the author of it. Although he hated Margaret at times, when he thought of that gentle familiar attitude and all the attendant circumstances, he had a restless desire to renew her picture in his mind - a longing for the very atmosphere she breathed. He was in the Charybdis of passion, and must perforce circle and circle ever nearer round the fatal centre. ~ Elizabeth Gaskell
Psychosomatic Pain quotes by Elizabeth Gaskell
When once we have discovered how pain and suffering diminish the personality and how joy alone increases it, then the morbid attraction which is felt for evil, pain and abnormality will have lost its power. Why do we reward our men of genius, our suicides, our madmen and the generally maladjusted with the melancholy honours of a posthumous curiosity? Because we know that it is our society which has condemned these men to death and which is guilty because, out of its own ignorance and malformation, it has persecuted those who were potential saviours; smiters of the rock who might have touched the spring of healing and brought us back into harmony with ourselves. Somehow, then, and without going mad, we must learn from these madmen to reconcile fanaticism with serenity. Either one, taken alone, is disastrous, yet except through the integration of these two opposites there can be no great art and no profound happiness--and what else is worth having? For nothing can be accomplished without fanaticism and without serenity nothing can be enjoyed. ~ Cyril Connolly
Psychosomatic Pain quotes by Cyril Connolly
She pushes all the pain out of her arms, kicks the hurt free from her legs. She swims her broken heart out. ~ Siobhan Vivian
Psychosomatic Pain quotes by Siobhan Vivian
We must know the pain of loss; because if we never knew it, we would have no compassion for others, and we would become monsters of self-regard, creatures of unalloyed self interest. ~ Dean Koontz
