A woman may be beautiful but have poor character. A man may be a business genius, making money left and right, but lack common courtesy, sensitivity, and compassion. ~ Myles Munroe
Poor Character quotes by Myles Munroe
Your character and attitude is what takes the lead in your leadership role and you follow them as a true leader. Poor character and attitude is eventually poor leadership. ~ Israelmore Ayivor
Poor Character quotes by Israelmore Ayivor
The idea that I am a bad person or exhibiting poor character traits by my disdain for someone can be irrelevant and false. If I meet someone I immediately dislike, for what ever reason, but I am polite and courteous, helpful and pleasant then I have been polite, courteous, helpful and pleasant. This is not at all the same as then finding someone else to gossip with and verbalize my disdain for that person. It is certainly not the same as being outright rude to that person. What I have thought is of no consequence here. My actions show who I am, not my thoughts. The same can be said of the basic premise of being spiritual itself. If I seek to be spiritual and yet find no time in my life for reflection on what this should and does mean to me am I being spiritual at all? The actions we relate to as being spiritual are the natural outcome of such reflection in our lives. When we are true to our own sense of integrity we naturally find compassion for others. ~ David Carlyle
Poor Character quotes by David Carlyle
I can overlook the lie; what's harder to ignore is the grotesque way it has marred your character. ~ Richelle E. Goodrich
Poor Character quotes by Richelle E. Goodrich
...poor countries are poor because those who have power make choices that create poverty. They get it wrong not by mistake or ignorance but on purpose. To understand this, you have to go beyond economics and expert advice on the best thing to do and, instead, study how decisions actually get made, who gets to make them, and why those people decide to do what they do. ~ Daron Acemoglu
Poor Character quotes by Daron Acemoglu
My poor husband is enduring pains and hunger in Jewish taverns, but the news which I have inspires me yet more. ~ Leo Tolstoy
Poor Character quotes by Leo Tolstoy
This is shitty to say, but there's not much pathos involved in a case like that. Think about it: Little So-and-so the Fourth drowns himself Tuesday night after receiving his midterm grades in the school of civil engineering. The body goes back to Westchester, and a lounge in the library or a nature path gets named after him, and a bunch of blue-blood kids remember him fondly. Sorry. There's about one story a year like that. Poor Billy Fuckup, Jr., in his Gap khakis, the pressure of going to classes all day really got to him. If I were a better person, I would have felt badly having seen things like that. ~ Cara Hoffman
Poor Character quotes by Cara Hoffman
I do not pretend to give such a sum; I only lend it to you. When you shall return to your country with a good character, you cannot fail of getting into some business, that will in time enable you to pay all your debts. In that case, when you meet with another honest man in similar distress, you must pay me by lending this sum to him; enjoining him to discharge the debt by a like operation, when he shall be able, and shall meet with such another opportunity. I hope it may thus go through many hands, before it meets with a knave that will stop its progress. This is a trick of mine for doing a deal of good with a little money. ~ Benjamin Franklin
Poor Character quotes by Benjamin Franklin
I find with television, you have to play personality, whereas onstage, everyone talks about 'the character,' and what you do. It's a very different thing, because stage is much bigger, but on television, for things to come across to the public, I think you have to play a bit of your personality. ~ John Barrowman
Poor Character quotes by John Barrowman
I believe that we are at or near the apex of a great civilization ... In 50-100 years, if we're a poor third to some countries in Asia, I wouldn't be surprised. If I had to bet, the part of the world that will do best will be Asia. ~ Charlie Munger
Poor Character quotes by Charlie Munger
When a person reaches the end of a book and says, 'I want to read that again,' what he's actually saying is that he wants to mentally merge with his favorite character and stroll among all the other creative personalities, feeding a hungry imagination through the vicarious reliving of each and every wild chapter that stirred his emotions, the whole while surrendering to a safe yet daring existence where any crazy, hopeful thing can and does happen. That's all. ~ Richelle E. Goodrich
Poor Character quotes by Richelle E. Goodrich
Never compromise your character's personality just to make a scene more exciting. Stories flow through your character, so never forget who they are. ~ Giuseppe Bianco
Poor Character quotes by Giuseppe Bianco
The poor yield to the rich, the common people to the upper ten, the servants to their masters, the ignorant to the scholars; but there is nobody who does not imagine that he is really better than others. ~ John Calvin
Poor Character quotes by John Calvin
Now that I have this piglet talisman... who knows what I might find the poor judgment to do? ~ Ginn Hale
Poor Character quotes by Ginn Hale
The neighborhood drug dealer kicks out his wife. He moves in a girlfriend and the wife finds out. The wife lets herself back into the house and steals a hundred thousand dollars that the drug dealer can't report missing. The drug dealer's wife goes to India, where she sends her husband a cable: The people here are poor so I gave them all your money. ~ Amy Hempel
Poor Character quotes by Amy Hempel
There are a lot of actors who will sit here and talk to you about characters - 'He does this, and she's a really interesting character because she does this.' I'm not like that at all. I'm not an actory actor. ~ Zooey Deschanel
Poor Character quotes by Zooey Deschanel
To understand Alexander well, it is necessary to follow his heart more closely than his policies, so I investigate the king's character through the mirror of the lives of his lovers. ~ Andrew Chugg
Poor Character quotes by Andrew Chugg
Don't take the holiness of God lightly, for it is the very essence of His character. ~ Billy Graham
Poor Character quotes by Billy Graham
My fiction is almost always inspired by a character's need or desire to rise above him- or herself. No one is perfect and some of us have much adversity in our lives; it is those people who struggle to rise above their nature or background that I find the most interesting and heroic. ~ Robert Crais
Poor Character quotes by Robert Crais
Being told that you have not changed is not always a compliment. ~ Mokokoma Mokhonoana
Poor Character quotes by Mokokoma Mokhonoana
They say everything you go through in your childhood builds character and inner strength. ~ Curtis Joseph
Poor Character quotes by Curtis Joseph
Poor Cindy's heart was torn to shreds.
My Prince! She thought. He chops off heads!
How could I marry anyone
Who does that sort of thing for fun?
The Prince cried, Who's this dirty slut?
Off with her nut! Off with her nut! ~ Roald Dahl
Poor Character quotes by Roald Dahl
Kings ought never to be seen upon the stage. In the abstract, they are very disagreeable characters: it is only while living that they are 'the best of kings'. It is their power, their splendour, it is the apprehension of the personal consequences of their favour or their hatred that dazzles the imagination and suspends the judgement of their favourites or their vassals; but death cancels the bond of allegiance and of interest; and seen AS THEY WERE, their power and their pretensions look monstrous and ridiculous. ~ William Hazlitt
Poor Character quotes by William Hazlitt
Characters to me are like sonnets, they have limits that you obey which allow a force to enter in, an invention that makes the novel possible. Change the limits and the force leaves. The novel becomes impossible. ~ Alexander Chee
Poor Character quotes by Alexander Chee
Create a character with an obsession, then follow. ~ Ray Bradbury
Poor Character quotes by Ray Bradbury
Every character is a part of you and a part of the character that you are going to evolve into that you are not yet. ~ Angelina Jolie
Poor Character quotes by Angelina Jolie
Communism was a great system for making people equally poor - in fact, there was no better system in the world for that than communism. Capitalism made people unequally rich. ~ Thomas L. Friedman
Poor Character quotes by Thomas L. Friedman
The weak are the most treacherous of us all. They come to the strong and drain them. They are bottomless. They are insatiable. They are always parched and always bitter. They are everyone's concern and like vampires they suck our life's blood. ~ Betty Davis
Poor Character quotes by Betty Davis
Every character I play is straight, which is unique, my agent says, because it's not really been done before that someone who is completely out is able to play straight roles. ~ Russell Tovey
Poor Character quotes by Russell Tovey
If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am become sounding brass, or a clanging cymbal. And if I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. And if I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and if I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profiteth me nothing. ~ Anonymous
Poor Character quotes by Anonymous
The character I play is a wonderful compilation of things I hate about myself and things I love about myself and things that I've invented to make her even more interesting than me. ~ Camryn Manheim
Poor Character quotes by Camryn Manheim
Well, it speaks to the character of the players more than anything. Bob Myers and his staff have done an incredible job of putting together this roster. I was well aware of the versatility that the roster had, but as I got to know the players I realized they had what it took spiritually, emotionally. They were united. They wanted to win. They were close. ~ Steve Kerr
Poor Character quotes by Steve Kerr
I had been very impressed with the voiceover of 'Apocalypse Now,' with Martin Sheen's voice. That was a great voiceover; it really internalized the Martin Sheen character, who was essentially fairly low key and didn't say a lot during the whole movie. But he thought a lot, so I always thought that was really great. ~ Ridley Scott
Poor Character quotes by Ridley Scott
Ah, poor Pole. It's been to much for her, this last bit. Turned her head, I shouldn't wonder. She's beginning to see things. ~ C.S. Lewis
Poor Character quotes by C.S. Lewis
Adversity does more than build character. It changes the way we see the world. ~ Michael R. French
Poor Character quotes by Michael R. French
The only way in which a human being can make some approach to knowing the whole of a subject, is by hearing what can be said about it by persons of every variety of opinion, and studying all modes in which it can be looked at by every character of mind. No wise man ever acquired his wisdom in any mode but this; nor is it in the nature of human intellect to become wise in any other manner. ~ John Stuart Mill
Poor Character quotes by John Stuart Mill
When the middle classes get passionate about politics, they're arguing about their treats - their tax breaks and their investments. When the poor get passionate about politics, they're fighting for their lives.
Politics will always mean more to the poor. Always. That's why we strike and march, and despair when our young say they won't vote. That's why the poor are seen as more vital, more animalistic. No classical music for us - no walking around National Trust properties or buying reclaimed flooring. We don't have nostalgia. We don't do yesterday. We can't bear it. We don't want to be reminded of our past, because it was awful: dying in means, and slums, without literacy, or the vote. Without dignity. It was all so desperate then. That's why the present and the future is for the poor - that's the place in time for us: surviving now, hoping for better later. We live now - for our instant, hot, fast treats, to pep us up: sugar, a cigarette, a new fast song on the radio.
You must never, never forget when you talk to someone poor, that it takes ten times the effort to get anywhere from a bad post code. It's a miracle when someone from a bad post code gets anywhere, son. A miracle they do anything at all. ~ Caitlin Moran
Poor Character quotes by Caitlin Moran
Pure love was always difficult to witness. Why was that, she wondered? Because it was so rare? So beautiful? SO damned unattainable for most of the poor saps muddling through this life? ~ Lynda Sandoval
Poor Character quotes by Lynda Sandoval
My most serious character flaw is that I don't deny myself much. ~ Andy Rooney
Poor Character quotes by Andy Rooney
Before our white brothers arrived to make us civilized men,we didn't have any kind of prison. Because of this, we had no delinquents. We had no locks nor keys and therefore among us there were no thieves. When someone was so poor that he couldn't afford a horse, a tent or a blanket, he would, in that case, receive it all as a gift. We were too uncivilized to give great importance to private property. We didn't know any kind of money and consequently, the value of a human being was not determined by his wealth. We had no written laws laid down, no lawyers, no politicians, therefore we were not able to cheat and swindle one another. We were really in bad shape before the white men arrived and I don't know how to explain how we were able to manage without these fundamental things that (so they tell us) are so necessary for a civilized society. ~ Lame Deer
