Wisdom - Each day you wake up, know that your life is like a trillion dollars, use it wisely! ~ Pete Warner
Pete Warner quotes by Pete Warner
A half-century later, Mark Twain would say that the gold rush drastically changed the American character, ending the tradition of patient apprenticeships, the gradual mastery of self, talent, and money. Gold created the get-rich-quick mentality that has been with us ever since, most recently during the dot-com bubble of the late 1990s. ~ Pete Hamill
Pete Warner quotes by Pete Hamill
Sometimes suffering is a weird attraction. ~ Pete Docter
Pete Warner quotes by Pete Docter
Jessie reached into the box and took out an envelope. On the front was printed THE ALDEN CHILDREN. She opened the envelope, took out a piece of paper, read it, and gasped.
"What does it say?" Henry asked.
Jessie handed the letter to Henry. He read, "Aldens: Go home and stay home."
"I'll bet Mr. Carter wrote it. He said he didn't like neighbors," Benny said.
Henry said firmly, "We certainly aren't going to let whoever wrote it scare us away. Are we?"
"No!" Jessie said.
"We aren't," Benny agreed.
"I guess not," Violet said.

The Mystery of the Singing Ghost ~ Gertrude Chandler Warner
Pete Warner quotes by Gertrude Chandler Warner
You need space to try things and create. It takes a long time to recalibrate if you let people pull at you all the time. A lot of stress comes from reacting to stuff. You have to keep a certain guard [up], if you're a creative person. ~ Pete Cashmore
Pete Warner quotes by Pete Cashmore
I'm attracted to creative people and train wrecks, and there's no shortage of that in Los Angeles. ~ Pete Wentz
Pete Warner quotes by Pete Wentz
All of a sudden (in 1938 I think), in order to extend its autarchy to the domain of cinema, Italy decreed an embargo on American films. It wasn't a question of censorship: as usual the censors granted or denied permission to individual films, and nobody saw the ones that didn't get it and that was it. In spite of the awkward anti-Hollywood propaganda campaign that accompanied the measure (right around that time the regime began to conform to Hitler's racism), the true reason for the embargo was supposed to be commercial protectionism, in order to make room in the market for Italian (and German) productions. For this reason the four largest American production and distribution companies - Metro, Fox, Paramount, Warner - (I'm still relying on memory, trusting the accuracy of the registration of my trauma), whereas films by other American companies like RKO, Columbia, Universal, United Artists (which had also been distributed before then by Italian companies) continued to arrive until 1941, that is until Italy found itself at war with the United States. I was still granted some sporadic satisfaction (in fact, one of the greatest: Stagecoach [John Ford, 1939]) but my collector's voracity suffered a fatal blow.

Compared to all of the prohibitions and obligations that fascism had imposed on us, and to the even more severe ones that it continued to enforce in those years before and then during the war, the veto on American films was certainly a minor or small loss, and I ~ Italo Calvino
Pete Warner quotes by Italo Calvino
My blood ran with this ink... ~ Sylvia Townsend Warner
Pete Warner quotes by Sylvia Townsend Warner
I used to worry when I was a teenager, even into my twenties, after I'd heard something about schizophrenia and how people just suddenly become schizophrenic that I was insane. ~ Brad Warner
Pete Warner quotes by Brad Warner
I lived my life one way for 35 years, for me. And then the focus came in on what I really was. ~ Pete Maravich
Pete Warner quotes by Pete Maravich
No player or manager has greater respect for the umpires than I do, and I have demonstrated that over the years. ~ Pete Rose
Pete Warner quotes by Pete Rose
He sang "I wish I weren't me" over and over again just flat of the key of love until he forgot the words and could only hum along. Everyday was the same. The same stupid smile on the same stupid boy. Until the days blurred into a haze and the boy dropped into a depression. Not a cool dark room and cigarette depression like the songs he loved, but one that felt like he was being smothered by a safe, suburban, monotonous blanket. Everything felt like a headache to the boy. Every face, every stupid stuttered sentence all wrapped up into the biggest headache ever. So the boy took an aspirin. And another and another and then went to sleep, lullabyed by hopes he would never wake up to. ~ Pete Wentz
Pete Warner quotes by Pete Wentz
Pain is not something to be feared; it is something to be understood. ~ Pete Egoscue
Pete Warner quotes by Pete Egoscue
Nobody knew who I was. ~ Kurt Warner
Pete Warner quotes by Kurt Warner
You've got to have something in your life you don't sell to others. ~ Pete Hamill
Pete Warner quotes by Pete Hamill
Idleness is righteous if it is comfortable. Uncomfortable idleness is sin & sinful waste. ~ Sylvia Townsend Warner
Pete Warner quotes by Sylvia Townsend Warner
Once you accept defeat, it becomes ease to lose. If defeat comes, face it and take it, but don't accept it. ~ Pete Rose
Pete Warner quotes by Pete Rose
When you step into the batter's box, have nothing on your mind except baseball. ~ Pete Rose
Pete Warner quotes by Pete Rose
Participation - that's what's gonna save the human race. ~ Pete Seeger
Pete Warner quotes by Pete Seeger
It is a certainty that Keegan would not have agreed to return unless Mike Ashley had committed to sanctioning a mammoth spending spree. The downside, which Keegan will soon discover, is the law of diminishing returns in a league that is now the richest in the world. The type of multi-million-pound investment that bankrolled the first Newcastle revival under Keegan is now two-a-penny. Buying success just isn't as easy as it used to be. The Premiership's paradox is that the more money there is, the more the art of management gains in value. ~ Pete Gill
Pete Warner quotes by Pete Gill
The way real memories work, from what we understand, is really complex. And it's an interconnection of different things and redundancy in the brain. So the idea of a memory existing as a little snow globe - the way we represent it in the film - is actually not scientifically accurate at all. ~ Pete Docter
Pete Warner quotes by Pete Docter
Mythographer was suggested by the man who made my website, actually. I do write a lot about myth and I do feel it's a bit pompous to state it that way, but it does distinguish me from other writers. When it was first on the web, people began to use it in an ironical and satirical way. Now, however, people tend to use it straight. ~ Marina Warner
Pete Warner quotes by Marina Warner
Now I fix time machines for a living. To be more specific, I am a certified network technician for T-Class personal-use chronogrammatical vehicles, and an approved independent affiliate contractor for Time Warner Time, which owns and operates this universe as a spatio-temporal structure and entertainment complex zoned for retail, commercial, and residential use. ~ Charles Yu
Pete Warner quotes by Charles Yu
As this drama played out in Moscow, over two thousand miles to the east in the Siberian city of Krasnoyarsk; six men gathered on the stairs of one of the old communist era apartment blocks. ~ Pete Buckley
Pete Warner quotes by Pete Buckley
He held you captive and managed to fall in love with you in the process. ~ Tahereh Mafi
Pete Warner quotes by Tahereh Mafi

Is it unprecedented for two goalkeepers employed in a match comprising seven goals to be the fixture's most competent protagonists? ~ Pete Gill
Pete Warner quotes by Pete Gill
It's just about bein' yourself ... even when you're on the dole, it's about your leather jacket. Music is the last refuge of the working class, along with football ... in fact, gigs and riots are the only things left. ~ Pete Doherty
Pete Warner quotes by Pete Doherty
Singing with children in the schools has been the most rewarding experience of my life. ~ Pete Seeger
Pete Warner quotes by Pete Seeger
I was cast as the lead in a Warner Bros TV pilot and was immediately told I needed to lose weight. I got a bit weird about food for the first time in my life, and I thought, 'You know, this just isn't the life for me.' ~ Sophie Winkleman
Pete Warner quotes by Sophie Winkleman
I loved making you mad," he says to me, his eyes wicked. "I love making you mad. ~ Tahereh Mafi

Pete Warner quotes by Pete Rose
The sea change that has come is the information age. We don't have to just read The New York Times anymore. We can pull up something on the Internet and get any news that we like. ~ Pete Du Pont
Pete Warner quotes by Pete Du Pont
The night was at her disposal. She might walk back to Great Mop and arrive very late; or she might sleep out and not trouble to arrive till to-morrow. Whichever she did Mrs Leak would not mind. That was one of the advantages of dealing with witches; they do not mind if you are a little odd in your ways, frown if you are late for meals, fret if you are out all night, pry and commiserate when at length you return. Lovely to be with people who prefer their thoughts to yours, lovely to live at your own sweet will, lovely to sleep out all night! ~ Sylvia Townsend Warner
