To be properly wicked, you do not have to break the Law. Just observe it to the letter. ~ Anthony De Mello
Oficio De Nossa quotes by Anthony De Mello
The seeker says, "I do not know." That takes honesty. The master says, "I do not know." That takes a mystic's mind that knows things through non-knowing. The disciple says, "I know." That takes ignorance, in the form of borrowed knowledge. ~ Anthony De Mello
Oficio De Nossa quotes by Anthony De Mello
The public is composed of numerous groups whose cry to us writers is: 'Comfort me.' 'Amuse me.' 'Touch my sympathies.' 'Make me sad.' 'Make me dream.' 'Make me laugh.' 'Make me shiver.' 'Make me weep.' 'Make me think.' ~ Guy De Maupassant
Oficio De Nossa quotes by Guy De Maupassant

If women were by nature what they make themselves by art; if they were to lose suddenly all the freshness of their complexion, and their faces to become as fiery and as leaden as they make them with the red and the paint they besmear themselves with, they would consider themselves the most wretched creatures on earth. ~ Jean De La Bruyere
Oficio De Nossa quotes by Jean De La Bruyere
I have only the idea I have made of myself to sustain me on oceans of nothingness ~ Henry De Montherlant
Oficio De Nossa quotes by Henry De Montherlant

Love not what you are but only what you may become. ~ Miguel De Cervantes
Oficio De Nossa quotes by Miguel De Cervantes
Even if you are on the brink of damnation, even if you have one foot in hell, even if you have sold your soul to the devil as sorcerers do who practice black magic, and even if you are a heretic as obstinate as a devil, sooner or later you will be converted and will amend your life and will save your soul, if-and mark well what I say-if you say the Holy Rosary devoutly every day until death for the purpose of knowing the truth and obtaining contrition and pardon for your sins. ~ Louis De Montfort
Oficio De Nossa quotes by Louis De Montfort
Dance constitutes a true recapturing of ... freedom and childish play. ~ Agnes De Mille
Oficio De Nossa quotes by Agnes De Mille
Something that did not happen to me broke my heart. That was how I knew I
was capable of feeling. ~ Belle De Jour

You can attract more bees with a spoonful of sugar than a cupful of vinegar. ~ Saint Francis De Sales
Oficio De Nossa quotes by Saint Francis De Sales
We read on the foreheads of those who are surrounded by a foolish luxury, that fortune sells what she is thought to give. ~ Jean De La Fontaine
Oficio De Nossa quotes by Jean De La Fontaine
It was Ernie Haller, who had photographed Bette Davis in Jezebel and Vivien Leigh in Gone with the Wind, who was solely responsible for the visuals in Mildred Pierce, said Crawford. "Ernie was at the rehearsals. And so was Mr. [Anton] de Grot, who did the sets. I recall seeing Ernie's copy of the script and it was filled with notations and diagrams. I asked him if these were for special lights and he said, 'No, they're for special shadows.' Now, that threw me. I was a little apprehensive. I was used to the look of Metro, where everything, including the war pictures, was filmed in blazing white lights. Even if a person was dying there was no darkness. But when I saw the rushes of Mildred Pierce I realized what Ernie was doing. The shadows and half-lights, the way the sets were lit, together with the unusual angles of the camera, added considerably to the psychology of my character and to the mood and psychology of the film. And that, my dear, is film noir." "Mildred ~ Shaun Considine
Oficio De Nossa quotes by Shaun Considine
Perceived a cart covered with royal flags coming along the road they were travelling; and persuaded that this must be some new adventure, ~ Miguel De Cervantes Saavedra
Oficio De Nossa quotes by Miguel De Cervantes Saavedra
The gratification of wealth is not found in mere possession or in lavish expenditure, but in its wise application. ~ Miguel De Cervantes
Oficio De Nossa quotes by Miguel De Cervantes
Surely everyone is aware of the divine pleasures which attend a wintry fireside; candles at four o'clock, warm hearthrugs, tea, a fair tea-maker, shutters closed, curtains flowing in ample draperies to the floor, whilst the wind and rain are raging audibly without. ~ Thomas De Quincey
Oficio De Nossa quotes by Thomas De Quincey
Equality is the share of every one at their advent upon earth, and equality is also theirs when placed beneath it. ~ Ninon De L'Enclos
Oficio De Nossa quotes by Ninon De L'Enclos
It is not known, now, for what length of time the Tuatha de Danaan had the sway over Ireland, and it is likely it was a long time they had it, but they were put from it at last. ~ Lady Gregory
Oficio De Nossa quotes by Lady Gregory
While clearly an impregnable masterpiece, Don Quixote suffers from one fairly serious flaw - that of outright unreadability. ~ Martin Amis
Oficio De Nossa quotes by Martin Amis
People think the Bible is too complicated for the average person to understand. People tend to be wrong. It's too complicated for the unsaved person, yes, it's foolishness to him. But for those who are in Christ, it's a magnificent journey of simplicity. Depth, richness, but simplicity. It's the fact that the natural man can't believe that life with Christ is so simple that cause the great "complexity" argument. Stop, take a breath, and believe that it's as simple as it appears. ~ Alan De Jager
Oficio De Nossa quotes by Alan De Jager
Great hearts, my dear master, should be patient in misfortune as well as joyful in prosperity. And this I judge from myself. For if I was merry when I was Governor now that I'm a squire on foot I'm not sad, for I've heard tell that Fortune, as they call her, is a drunken and capricious woman and, worse still, blind; and so she doesn't see what she's doing, and doesn't know whom she is casting down or raising up. ~ Miguel De Cervantes Saavedra
Oficio De Nossa quotes by Miguel De Cervantes Saavedra
The general trouble with ignorance is always that ignorant people have no idea that that's what they are. You can be ignorant and stupid and go through your whole life without ever encountering any evidence against the hypothesis that you're a genius. If you're stupid you can always blame miscalculation on bad luck. ~ Louis De Bernieres
Oficio De Nossa quotes by Louis De Bernieres
It's one thing to ask your bank manager for an overdraft to buy 500 begonias for the borders in Haslemere, but quite another to seek financial succour to avail oneself of the 5-2 they're offering on lie de Bourbon for the St Leger. ~ Jeffrey Bernard
Oficio De Nossa quotes by Jeffrey Bernard
There are, on the other hand, very great men, very holy men, very pure men in every way, whose knowledge is wide and vast and deep, whose spiritual stature is great; but when they reach Buddhahood, instead of feeling the call of almighty love to return and help those who have gone less far, they go ahead into the supernal light - pass onwards and enter the unspeakable bliss of nirvana - and leave mankind behind. Such are the Pratyeka Buddhas. Though exalted, nevertheless they do not rank in unutterable sublimity with the Buddhas of Compassion.

The Pratyeka Buddha, he who achieves Buddhahood for himself, does not do it selfishly, however; does not do it merely in order to gratify self, and he does no harm to others; if he did he could never reach even his solitary Buddhahood. But he does it and achieves nirvana automatically, so to speak, following the lofty impulses of his being. Nevertheless he leaves the world behind enslaved in the chains of matter and forgotten by him.

The Pratyeka Buddha concentrates on the one thing - self-advancement for spiritual ends. It is a noble path in a way, but although it is a more rapid path, nevertheless being essentially a selfish path, the karmic records will show deeper lines ultimately to be wiped out than will those of the other striver after the spiritual life who follows the path of complete self-renunciation, and who even gives up all hope of self-advancement. The latter is of course by far the nobler path ~ G. De Purucker
Oficio De Nossa quotes by G. De Purucker
To judge from the notions expounded by theologians, one must conclude that God created most men simply with a view to crowding hell. ~ Marquis De Sade
Oficio De Nossa quotes by Marquis De Sade
I have a sewing machine that I adore, and I spend a lot of time sitting in front of it when I'm not working. And any excuse to paint or draw or do something artistic with my hands really gets me going. Definitely aspiring. ~ India De Beaufort
Oficio De Nossa quotes by India De Beaufort
It is an axiom of political science in the United States that the sole means of neutralizing the effects of newspapers is to multiply their number. ~ Alexis De Tocqueville
Oficio De Nossa quotes by Alexis De Tocqueville
When trust permeates a ministry, great things are possible, not the least of which is an opportunity to reach the ministry's potential. ~ Max De Pree
Oficio De Nossa quotes by Max De Pree
Time is a great ocean which, like the other ocean, overflows with our remains. ~ Alphonse De Lamartine
Oficio De Nossa quotes by Alphonse De Lamartine
This is the violence that captures our fear and attention, even though only 20 percent of all homicides are committed by strangers. The other 80 percent are committed by people we know, so I'll focus on those we hire, those we work with, those we fire, those we date, those we marry, those we divorce. ~ Gavin De Becker
Oficio De Nossa quotes by Gavin De Becker
