I wasn't a hoarder, but I knew my place gave off a Feral Child Hidey Hole vibe. ~ Jeremy Robert Johnson
Feral Child quotes by Jeremy Robert Johnson
He's a feral child. No mother, no father, no one to care for him or raise him or teach him how to be human. So he's existed much like an animal, without language. He thinks in images, not word."
"How strange," Lanaya, sounding amazed.
Ryter shakes his head sadly. "Not strange, I'm afaraid. His condition is all too common in the latches. And becoming more common every day. ~ Rodman Philbrick
Feral Child quotes by Rodman Philbrick
'The Quiet Ones' was my first film, let alone my first horror film, and I had so much fun. I had such a laugh, every single day. I look like such a feral child in it. ~ Olivia Cooke
Feral Child quotes by Olivia Cooke
It was like living with a natural disaster, or a feral child, or a feral natural child disaster. ~ Maggie Stiefvater
Feral Child quotes by Maggie Stiefvater
I was a feral child. Always on the go. My mother used to sew bells into my dresses so they would know where I was. ~ Sophie Kennedy Clark
Feral Child quotes by Sophie Kennedy Clark
I should mention here that librarians tell me never to tell this story, and especially never to paint myself as a feral child who was raised in libraries by patient librarians; the tell me they are worried that people will misinterpret my story and use it as an excuse to use their libraries as free day care for their children. ~ Neil Gaiman
Feral Child quotes by Neil Gaiman
It is a mistake to suppose that all change or development is growth. The present condition of the earth's surface is not mature or immature; the horse has not, so far as we know, reached some final and presumably optimal stage in evolutionary development. If a child's language seems to grow like an embryo, it is only because the environmental contingencies have been neglected. The feral child has no language, not because his isolation has interfered with some growth process, but because he has not been exposed to a verbal community. We have no reason to call any culture mature in the sense that further growth is unlikely or that it would necessarily be a kind of deterioration. We call some cultures underdeveloped or immature in contrast with others we call 'advanced', but it is a crude form of jingoism to imply that any government, religion, or economic system is mature.

The main objection to the metaphor of growth, in considering either the development of an individual or the evolution of a culture, is that it emphasizes a terminal state which does not have a function. We say that an organism grows toward maturity or in order to reach maturity. Maturity becomes a goal, and progress becomes movement towards a goal. A goal is literally a terminus - the end of something such as a foot race. It has no effect on the race except to bring it to an end. The word is used in this relatively empty sense when we say that the goal of life is death or that the goal of evolution ~ B.F. Skinner
Feral Child quotes by B.F. Skinner
HARRY: Voldemort is going to kill my mum and dad - and there's nothing I can do to stop him.
DRACO: That's not true.
SCORPIUS: Dad, now is not the time ...
ALBUS: There is something you could do - to stop him. But you won't.
DRACO: That's heroic.
GINNY takes HARRY's hand.
GINNY: You don't have to watch, Harry. We can go home.
HARRY: I'm letting it happen ... Of course I have to watch.
HERMIONE: Then we'll all witness it.
RON: We'll all watch. ~ J.K. Rowling
Feral Child quotes by J.K. Rowling
A child's spirit is like a child, you can never catch it by running after it; you must stand still, and, for love, it will soon itself come back. ~ Arthur Miller
Feral Child quotes by Arthur Miller
He sank into the rocking chair, the same one in which Rebecca had sat during the early days of the house to give embroidery lessons, and in which Amaranta had played Chinese checkers with Colonel Gerineldo Marquez, and in which Amarana Ursula had sewn the tiny clothing for the child, and in that flash of lucidity he became aware that he was unable to bear in his soul the crushing weight of so much past. ~ Gabriel Garcia Marquez
Feral Child quotes by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
How many hopes and fears, how many ardent wishes and anxious apprehensions are twisted together in the threads that connect the parent with the child! ~ Samuel Griswold Goodrich
Feral Child quotes by Samuel Griswold Goodrich
The screaming four-month-old child is trying to find out whether the world is a reasonably safe place or not. She is in a state of deep terror and isolation. She hasn't learned to feel comfort when no one is around. To put her on the parents' schedule instead of her own for holding and feeding is to "condemn the innocent," as Jesus said (Matt. 12:7). ~ Henry Cloud
Feral Child quotes by Henry Cloud
Belief has a second edge. If there are ten thousand medieval peasants who create vampires by believing them real, there may be one - probably a child - who will imagine the stake necessary to kill it. But a stake is only stupid wood; the mind is the mallet which drives it home. ~ Stephen King
Feral Child quotes by Stephen King
I realise I might pass down an incurable illness to my son, but living based on what might go wrong seems like less and less of a life as I get older. The one thing I can try to control is whether I teach my child to be ruled by anxiety, by fear. That's something that gets passed down, too. ~ Victor LaValle
Feral Child quotes by Victor LaValle
For the keeping of secrets from adults is oft the only power a child may hope to possess. ~ Jacqueline Carey
Feral Child quotes by Jacqueline Carey
I was the illegitimate child of the legitimate theater. I had no training. I came from downtown rock and roll, and when I came in and auditioned for the Broadway revival of 'Hair,' I had no eyebrows - kind of a Bowie-esque glimmer kid. And it was hard representing the flower power era when we were stone cold punks. ~ Annie Golden
Feral Child quotes by Annie Golden
We cannot know the consequences of suppressing a child's spontaneity when he is just beginning to be active. We may even suffocate life itself. That humanity which is revealed in all its intellectual splendor during the sweet and tender age of childhood should be respected with a kind of religious veneration. It is like the sun which appears at dawn or a flower just beginning to bloom. Education cannot be effective unless it helps a child to open up himself to life. ~ Maria Montessori
Feral Child quotes by Maria Montessori
He hesitated. 'Serpine used my wife and child as a weapon against me. In order to do so, he had to kill them. He took my family's death and he made it about me. Valkyrie, when you die, it will be your death and yours alone. Let it come to you on your own terms.' She nodded.
'Valkyrie Cain,' he said, 'it has been an absolute pleasure knowing you. ~ Derek Landy
Feral Child quotes by Derek Landy
If you are a child of God, know that every promise in the Bible is yours. ~ Lee Roberson
Feral Child quotes by Lee Roberson
Gardening has a magical quality when you are a child. ~ Barbara Damrosch
Feral Child quotes by Barbara Damrosch
Is there any man, is there any woman, let me say any child here that does not know that the seed of war in the modern world is industrial and commercial rivalry? ~ Woodrow Wilson
Feral Child quotes by Woodrow Wilson
Because I have a passion for the play. My father was a chess teacher, and I learned the play of him as a small child. Occasionally I made another career; but now I have again the possibility of maintaining the passion of my early youth days. ~ Carmen Kass
Feral Child quotes by Carmen Kass
Not to have knowledge of what happened before you were born is to be condemned to live as a child. ~ Marcus Tullius Cicero
Feral Child quotes by Marcus Tullius Cicero
Never play peek-a-boo with a child on a long plane trip. There's no end to the game. Finally I grabbed him by the bib and said, "Look, it's always gonna be me!" ~ Rita Rudner
Feral Child quotes by Rita Rudner
If the abuse has taken place for a really long period of time, it becomes more and tougher and challenging as well. ~ Patricia Dsouza
Feral Child quotes by Patricia Dsouza
Once you have mastered a technique, you barely have to look at a recipe again ~ Julia Child
Feral Child quotes by Julia Child
She shook her head from side to side, resigned to her rebellious brain. Why was there nothing it refused? No misery, no regret, no hateful picture too rotten to accept? Like a greedy child it snatched up everything. Just once, could it say, No thank you? I just ate and can't hold another bite? I am full ~ Toni Morrison
Feral Child quotes by Toni Morrison
They stole you from me. They took you away for seven years. Your entire lifetime. A life sentence. The waiting has been endless. The watching. The planning. Now, finally, I'm almost ready. I've got a few things to take care of and then we can be reunited. ~ Sanjida Kay
Feral Child quotes by Sanjida Kay
I've been a fan of the Marvel Universe since I was a little child. ~ Steven Weber
Feral Child quotes by Steven Weber
Lots of people with little kids or babies with Down syndrome tell me they aren't afraid of the future for their child because of what I am doing to help people understand it better. ~ Lauren Potter
Feral Child quotes by Lauren Potter
Quit keeping score altogether and surrender yourself with all your sinfulness to God who sees neither the score nor the scorekeeper but only his child redeemed by Christ. ~ Brennan Manning
Feral Child quotes by Brennan Manning
How many times did we hear [Barack] Obama say, 'You didn't build that. You didn't build that - no, you need government.' We even saw Hillary Clinton say - remember her phrase - 'It takes a village to raise a child.' In other words, your children are not your children - they belong to the community. ~ Rafael Cruz
Feral Child quotes by Rafael Cruz
Child. This ability to grieve - that is, to give up the illusion of his "happy" childhood, to feel and recognize the full extent of the hurt he has endured - can restore the depressive's vitality and creativity and free the grandiose person from the exertions of and dependence on his Sisyphean task. If a person is able, during this long process, to experience the reality that he was never loved as a child for what he was but was instead needed and exploited for his achievements, success, and good qualities - and that he sacrificed his childhood for this form of love - he will be very deeply shaken, but one day he will feel the desire to end these efforts. He will discover in himself a need to live according to his true self and no longer be forced to earn "love" that always leaves him empty-handed, since it is given to his false self - something he has begun to identify and relinquish. ~ Alice Miller
Feral Child quotes by Alice Miller
What she was coming to realize, but what no woman was allowed to utter aloud, was that there was no guarantee your child would be adequate compensation for the life you gave up to have it. More and more, life looked an awful lot like a hoax perpetrated on women and designated to further men's lives at the expense of their own. ~ C.E. Morgan
Feral Child quotes by C.E. Morgan
It contained a sad, but too common story of the hard-heartedness of the wealthy, and the misery endured by the children of the highborn. Blood is not water, it is said, but gold with them is dearer far than the ties of nature; to keep and augment their possessions being the aim and end of their lives, the existence, and, more especially, the happiness of their children, appears to them a consideration at once trivial and impertinent, when it would compete with family views and family greatness. To this common and and iniquitous feeling these luckless beings were sacrificed; they had endured the worst, and could be injured no more; but their orphan child was a living victim, less thought of than the progeny of the meanest animal which might serve to augment their possessions.

Mrs. Baker felt some complacency on reading this letter; with the common English respect for wealth and rank, she was glad to find that her humble roof had sheltered a man who was the son - she did not exactly know of whom, but of somebody, who had younger sons and elder sons, and possessed, through wealth, the power of behaving frightfully ill to a vast number of persons. ~ Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley
Feral Child quotes by Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley
Luck is a goddess not to be coerced and forcibly wooed by those who seek her favours. From such masterful spirits she turns away. But it happens sometimes that, if we put our hand in hers with the humble trust of a little child, she will have pity on us, and not fail us in our hour of need. ~ P.G. Wodehouse
Feral Child quotes by P.G. Wodehouse
It's a daily miracle to see a child grow and develop all the senses and language and speech and faculties, and they're so much fun and they're so delightful and they're so innocent. It just stops your heart every time; I can't get enough of it. ~ Jann Wenner
Feral Child quotes by Jann Wenner
There was a bounty on my head, it was four days before Christmas, and I was having turtle gumbo with a merman, an undead pirate king, two loups-garou, and my best friend - a human pregnant with the half-elven child who had unknowingly helped set this whole debacle in motion. Plus a newbie vampire who didn't like the smell of food anymore. ~ Suzanne Johnson
Feral Child quotes by Suzanne Johnson
I love the predictions of a man right before his first child is born," Flowers said. "They're like little snowflakes. Right before the sun comes blazing out the clouds and melts those happy dreams away. ~ Michael Chabon
Feral Child quotes by Michael Chabon
Those of us who give body and soul to projects that never seem to end- child rearing, housecleaning, gardening- know the value of the occasional closed door. We need our moments of declared truce. ~ Barbara Kingsolver
Feral Child quotes by Barbara Kingsolver
I am half child, half ancient. ~ Bjork
Feral Child quotes by Bjork
My books are mine, and yet they are alien to me
as a child belongs to a parent and yet has a life of its own. I can guide and hope and nudge my characters this and that way, but in the end, they become what they become. I don't always like what they become myself, but like a parent, there are times when I just don't know what to do about it. Other times when I'm so proud of them I could bust. ~ Laura Kinsale
Feral Child quotes by Laura Kinsale
How many times have I gone back to the border of memory and peered into the darkness beyond? But it is not only memories that hover on the border. There are all sorts of phantasmagoria that inhabit that realm. The nightmares of a lonely child. Fairy tales appropriated by a mind hungry for a story. The fantasies of an imaginative little girl anxious to explain to herself the inexplicable. Whatever story I may have discovered on the frontier of forgetting, I do not pretend to myself that is the truth. ~ Diane Setterfield
Feral Child quotes by Diane Setterfield
I always was trying to make people laugh as a kid. I was a big fan of Carol Burnett and Gilda Radner. I watched them and I remember feeling as a child, when I heard the laughter they got, a little jealous that they made someone laugh like that. ~ Leah Remini
Feral Child quotes by Leah Remini
I've been trying to stay real
and true and proud of who I am,
all those ideals of how to look
I've been trying not to care.

But I'm still holding my breath,
I 'm still watching every step.
I'm still tip-toeing away,
when I'm getting to ashamed of myself.

I don't want to be your letdown,
I'm scared like hell I'm not enough.
I don't wanna be
your failure anymore.
- The Glass Child, Letdown ~ Charlotte Eriksson
Feral Child quotes by Charlotte Eriksson
Beginning with the first day of life outside the womb, every child is asking two core questions: 'Am I loved?' and 'Can I get my own way?' These two questions mark us throughout life, and the answers we receive set the course for how we live. ~ Dan B. Allender
Feral Child quotes by Dan B. Allender
I was always a person on my mother's hip in the kitchen. My mom really wanted her kids at her side as much as possible, and she worked in restaurants for over fifty years. And my grandfather had ten children, and he grew and prepared most of the food. My grandmother, on my mother's side, was the family seamstress and the baker. So my mom, the eldest child, was always in the kitchen with my grandpa and I was always in the production and restaurant kitchens and our own kitchen with my mom. And it's just something that has always spoken to me. ~ Rachael Ray
Feral Child quotes by Rachael Ray
Somewhere on this globe, every ten seconds, there is a woman giving birth to a child. She must be found and stopped. ~ Sam Levenson
