The electronic revolution is like the social event of the season. Everybody has received an invitation. Those who choose not to attend will be left out in the cold listening to everyone else talk about what a marvelous time they had. ~ Kilburn Hall
Electronic Revolution quotes by Kilburn Hall
Americans tend to prefer their presidents on horseback: heroes who dream big and sound trumpets. There is, however, another kind of leader – quieter and less glamorous but no less significant – whose virtues repay our attention. There is greatness in political lives dedicated more to steadiness than to boldness, more to reform than to revolution, more to management of complexity than to the making of mass movements. ~ Jon Meacham
Electronic Revolution quotes by Jon Meacham
The American revolution, the terms are these: not that I drive you out or that you drive me out, but that we come together and embrace and learn to live together. That is the only way that we can have achieved the American revolution.
Now, if we can face this, it involves facing a great many things. It demands that white people face the fact that I, for example, or any black person they will ever meet or have ever met - I am not an exotic rarity. I am not a stranger. I am none of those things. On the contrary, for all you know, for all you know, I might be your uncle, your brother, your cousin, among other things. One of the things that has happened here - and the pathology of the Deep South proves it; so does the pathology of the North, which dictates to them that they move out and I move in - among other things which have to be excavated here is the fact that this long history is also the history of a love affair. ~ James Baldwin
Electronic Revolution quotes by James Baldwin
Revolution is not for the faint of heart. It is for monsters. You have to lose who you are to discover what you can become. ~ Antonio Negri; Michael Hardt
Electronic Revolution quotes by Antonio Negri; Michael Hardt
People who pronounce themselves in favor of the method of legislative reform in place of and in contradistinction to the conquest of political power and social revolution, do not really choose a more tranquil, calmer and slower road to the same goal, but a different goal. Instead of taking a stand for the establishment of a new society they take a stand for surface modifications of the old society. . . . Our program becomes not the realization of Socialism, but the reform of capitalism not the suppression of the system of wage labor, but the diminution of exploitation, that is, the suppression of the abuses of capitalism instead of the suppression of capitalism itself. ~ Rosa Luxemburg
Electronic Revolution quotes by Rosa Luxemburg
All throughout the Christian ages, and especially since the French Revolution, the Western world has been haunted by the idea of freedom and equality; it is only an idea, but it has penetrated to all ranks of society ... Even the millionaire suffers from a vague sense of guilt, like a dog eating a stolen leg of mutton. ~ George Orwell
Electronic Revolution quotes by George Orwell
Enclosures have been appropriately called a revolution of the rich against the poor. ~ Karl Polanyi
Electronic Revolution quotes by Karl Polanyi
The big problem is that people don't believe a revolution is possible, and it is not possible precisely because they do not believe it is possible. ~ Theodore Kaczynski
Electronic Revolution quotes by Theodore Kaczynski
I am thankful, however, that some of our white brothers have grasped the meaning of this social revolution and committed themselves to it. They are still all too small in quantity, but they are big in quality. ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.
Electronic Revolution quotes by Martin Luther King, Jr.
We're not supposed to have electronic stuff out during the school day. Yeah, right. I would say with confidence that 250 of Willing's 311 students can text without looking. ~ Melissa Jensen
Electronic Revolution quotes by Melissa Jensen
I'm not sure if music got a future. We have all these electronic ways to download and steal music and get music, but there's no money in makin' music. ~ Ice Cube
Electronic Revolution quotes by Ice Cube
One has to bear in mind that one of the tactics of revolution is to destroy one's predecessors in authority at any cost or hazard. ~ Herbert Hoover
Electronic Revolution quotes by Herbert Hoover
Tin soldiers and Nixon's coming
We're finally on our own
This summer I hear the drumming
Four dead in Ohio
Gotta get down to it
Soldiers are gunning us down
Should have been done long ago
What if you knew her and
Found her dead on the ground
How can you run when you know ~ Neil Young
Electronic Revolution quotes by Neil Young
When at last we have to die it will be time enough to get cold.
While we are on fire let us seethe and boil. ~ Rabindranath Tagore
Electronic Revolution quotes by Rabindranath Tagore
Most likely, both the gossip theory and the there-is-a-lion-near-the-river theory are valid. Yet the truly unique feature of our language is not its ability to transmit information about men and lions. Rather, it's the ability to transmit information about things that do not exist at all. As far as we know, only Sapiens can talk about entire kinds of entities that they have never seen, touched or smelled. Legends, myths, gods and religions appeared for the first time with the Cognitive Revolution. Many animals and human species could previously say, 'Careful! A lion!' Thanks to the Cognitive Revolution, Homo sapiens acquired the ability to say, 'The lion is the guardian spirit of our tribe.' This ability to speak about fictions is the most unique feature of Sapiens language. It's ~ Yuval Noah Harari
Electronic Revolution quotes by Yuval Noah Harari
Ever since the Industrial Revolution, investments in science and technology have proved to be reliable engines of economic growth. If homegrown interest in those fields is not regenerated soon, the comfortable lifestyle to which Americans have become accustomed will draw to a rapid close. ~ Neil DeGrasse Tyson
Electronic Revolution quotes by Neil DeGrasse Tyson
Revolution is the industry of young men. ~ Craig Johnson
Electronic Revolution quotes by Craig Johnson
A lot of the ways of advertising a book - the cover, whether somebody sees it on a subway or sees it in a bookstore - those things are going to rapidly diminish as we move to an electronic model. ~ Gary Shteyngart
Electronic Revolution quotes by Gary Shteyngart
A lot of music fans are still interested in insightful perspectives on music - maybe even more interested than ever, since everyone needs help making sense of the incredible variety of sounds that have sprung up in the wake of the Internet revolution. There's a lot of room for unique, qualified voices who can provide good reads. ~ Michael Azerrad
Electronic Revolution quotes by Michael Azerrad
To all our brothers and sisters in school - if your school is messed up, if the administration and the teachers don't care and don't teach - don't let them force you to drop out. Throw them out. The schools belong to us, not to them. Take all that anger and put it to work for our people. Make revolution inside the schools. If the schools don't function for us, they shouldn't function at all! ~ Darrel Enck-Wanzer
Electronic Revolution quotes by Darrel Enck-Wanzer
Part of how they make you obey is by making obedience seem peaceful, while resistance is violence. But really, either choice is about violence, one way or another. ~ Charlie Jane Anders
Electronic Revolution quotes by Charlie Jane Anders
America is a leap of the imagination. From its beginning, people had only a persistent idea of what a good country should be. The idea involved freedom, equality, justice, and the pursuit of happiness; nowadays most of us probably could not describe it a lot more clearly than that. The truth is, it always has been a bit of a guess. No one has ever known for sure whether a country based on such an idea is really possible, but again and again, we have leaped toward the idea and hoped. What SuAnne Big Crow demonstrated in the Lead high school gym is that making the leap is the whole point. The idea does not truly live unless it is expressed by an act; the country does not live unless we make the leap from our tribe or focus group or gated community or demographic, and land on the shaky platform of that idea of a good country which all kinds of different people share.

This leap is made in public, and it's made for free. It's not a product or a service that anyone will pay you for. You do it for reasons unexplainable by economics--for ambition, out of conviction, for the heck of it, in playfulness, for love. It's done in public spaces, face-to-face, where anyone is free to go. It's not done on television, on the Internet, or over the telephone; our electronic systems can only tell us if the leap made elsewhere has succeeded or failed. The places you'll see it are high school gyms, city sidewalks, the subway, bus stations, public parks, parking lots, and wherever people ~ Ian Frazier
Electronic Revolution quotes by Ian Frazier
Revolutions, we must remember, are always made by minorities. ~ Peter Kropotkin
Electronic Revolution quotes by Peter Kropotkin
There is nothing your knife handlers can do in the way of rioting and demonstrating that will have any permanent effect as long as, in the extremity, there is an army equipped with kinetic, chemical, and neurological weapons that is willing to use them against your people. You can get all the downtrodden and even all the respectables on your side, but you must somehow win over the security forces and the Imperial army or at least seriously weaken their loyalty to the rulers. ~ Isaac Asimov
Electronic Revolution quotes by Isaac Asimov
What do those who struggle against power do when they seize power? What does the revolutionary do when the revolution triumphs? Why do those who call for independence and freedom take away the independence and freedom of others? And is it sane or insane to believe, as so many around us apparently do, in nothing? We can only answer these questions for ourselves. Our life and our death have taught us always to sympathize with the undesirables among the undesirables. Thus magnetized by experience, our compass continually points toward those who suffer. ~ Viet Thanh Nguyen
Electronic Revolution quotes by Viet Thanh Nguyen
José Martí, born on January 28, 1853, is known as the George Washington of Cuba, or is perhaps better identified with Simon Bolivar, the liberator of South America. Although he admired and visited the United States, José Martí realized that not only would he have to free his country from Spain, he would also have to prevent the United States from interfering in Cuba's internal affairs. By his admirers, he was considered a great Latin American intellectual, and his newspaper Patria became the voice of "Cuban Independence." After years of suppression, the Cuban struggle for independence began in 1868. At the age of 17, José Martí was jailed in Cuba and then exiled to Spain because of his revolutionary activities. It was during this time in his life that he published a pamphlet describing the atrocities he had experienced while being imprisoned in Cuba. He strongly believed in racial equality and denounced the horrors of people having to live under a dictatorship.
In 1878, Martí was allowed to return to Cuba under a general amnesty, but was once again banished from Cuba after being accused of conspiracy against the Spanish authorities. From 1881 to 1895, he lived and worked in New York City. Moving to Florida, he organized forces for a three-pronged attack supporting the smoldering Cuban War of Independence. It was during one of the first battles that he was killed at the Battle of Dos Ríos in Cuba, and thus became a national hero and martyr when he was only 42 years old. ~ Hank Bracker
Electronic Revolution quotes by Hank Bracker
The children of the revolution are always ungrateful, and the revolution must be grateful that it is so. ~ Ursula K. Le Guin
Electronic Revolution quotes by Ursula K. Le Guin
92, '93, '94. Liberty, Equality, Fraternity or Death. ~ Hilary Mantel
Electronic Revolution quotes by Hilary Mantel
Revolution is man's normal activity, and if he is wise he will grade it slowly so that it may be almost imperceptible - otherwise it will jerk in fits and starts and cause discomfort ... ~ Freya Stark
Electronic Revolution quotes by Freya Stark
If you're in favour of any policy - reform, revolution, stability, regression, whatever - if you're at least minimally moral, it's because you think it's somehow good for people. And good for people means conforming to their fundamental nature. ~ Noam Chomsky
Electronic Revolution quotes by Noam Chomsky
If you had the option to pray for me or fight with me, you better choose the fight. ~ Darnell Lamont Walker
Electronic Revolution quotes by Darnell Lamont Walker
In imperialism nothing fails like success. If the conqueror oppresses his subjects, they will become fanatical patriots, and sooner or later have their revenge; if he treats them well, and governs them for their good, they will multiply faster than their rulers, till they claim their independence. ~ William Ralph Inge
Electronic Revolution quotes by William Ralph Inge
We do not believe that capitalism, or any economic system, is the cause of female oppression, nor do we believe that female oppression will disappear as a result of purely economic revolution. ~ Anne Koedt
Electronic Revolution quotes by Anne Koedt
Every medium - oral, written, print, and now electronic - has its own associated thought patterns and mind sets. ~ Dale Spender
Electronic Revolution quotes by Dale Spender
Get plugged in at your church. Find a way to invest yourself. Let's change the church's problem from 'Where do we find the help we need?' to 'What do we do with all the help we have?' The revolution begins now; and it starts with you. ~ Tyler Edwards
Electronic Revolution quotes by Tyler Edwards
You know there's always prejudice in a revolutionary movement. ~ Ursula K. Le Guin
Electronic Revolution quotes by Ursula K. Le Guin
The incredible story of progress that is America has always been built by those who ask why, what if, and why not. Our schools must begin instilling that wonder in our children again so that their generation will unite around the next great project of our time, whether it be declaring America energy independent or launching the next great technological revolution. ~ Barack Obama
Electronic Revolution quotes by Barack Obama
The Revolution of 1848 found all the Rougons on the lookout, frustrated by their bad luck, and ready to use any means necessary to advance their cause. They were a family of bandits lying in wait, ready to plunder and steal. ~ Emile Zola
Electronic Revolution quotes by Emile Zola
You have the right to promote your own happiness just like everyone else, just like me. Your present dream has been shattered, but you can dream another. You should know that 'you can't relive old dreams.' Even if you force them to come true, they won't bring you happiness. ~ Mao Dun
Electronic Revolution quotes by Mao Dun
All power is lodged in, and consequently derived from, the people. We should wear it as a breastplate, and buckle it on as our armour. ~ George Mason
Electronic Revolution quotes by George Mason
In today's world simple kindness is a revolutionary act. ~ Bryant McGill
Electronic Revolution quotes by Bryant McGill
There is a revolution happening, and within two years I think that Wi-Fi and Netflix will be built into all the televisions. ~ Reed Hastings
