She missed her mum every day, and it never seemed to get any easier - not until she met Dale. He made her life brighter, making it easier for her to leave her troubled past where it belonged, behind her. The pain never went away , but it faded into the background when she was with him. ~ Kat Green
Dale Baxter quotes by Kat Green
You little know what you have done, when you have first broke the bounds of modesty; you have set open the door of your fancy to the devil, so that he can, almost at his pleasure ever after, represent the same sinful pleasure to you anew. ~ Richard Baxter
Dale Baxter quotes by Richard Baxter
[O]ur English divines are sounder in it than any in the world, generally: I think because they are more practical, and have had more wounded, tender consciences under cure, and less empty speculation and dispute (336-7). ~ Richard Baxter
Dale Baxter quotes by Richard Baxter
... It was dark. There were no dead stars, no rogue planets. Matter itself had long evaporated, burned up by proton decay, leaving nothing but a thin smoke of neutrinos drifting out at lightspeed. But even now there was something rather than nothing. The creatures of this age drifted like clouds, immense, slow, coded in immense wispy atoms. Free energy was dwindling to zero, time stretching to infinity. It took these cloud-beings longer to complete a single thought than it once took species to rise and fall on Earth ... ~ Stephen Baxter
Dale Baxter quotes by Stephen Baxter
It's hard to hold a conversation with people when you're not seeing them. ~ Dale Ludwig
Dale Baxter quotes by Dale Ludwig
When he was a boy (Carnegie) back in Scotland, he got hold of a rabbit, a mother rabbit. Presto! He soon had a whole nest of little rabbits and nothing to feed them. But he had a brilliant idea. He told the boys and girls in the neighbourhood that if they would go out and pull enough clover and dandelions to feed the rabbits, he would name the bunnies in their honour. The plan worked like magic. ~ Dale Carnegie
Dale Baxter quotes by Dale Carnegie
Every day became an epic of endurance. ~ Charles Baxter
Dale Baxter quotes by Charles Baxter
Poppy Devine did not deserve cancer. Poppy was sweet and industrious and careful and measured and always, always did the right thing. If anyone deserved cancer it was Julia. Julia was loud and opinionated and disagreeable. Rude, some might even say. She went out with bad men, took unnecessary risks, pushed people to their limits, swore like a sailor and flipped the bird more than any female in the history of the world.
It should be her number coming up in the cancer lottery. ~ Amy Andrews
Dale Baxter quotes by Amy Andrews
Regardless of who originally made it popular, any hit song becomes a challenge to the ingenuity and imagination of other musicians and performers. ~ Les Baxter
Dale Baxter quotes by Les Baxter
The only way I can get you to do anything is by giving you what you want. ~ Dale Carnegie
Dale Baxter quotes by Dale Carnegie
When I first played the guitar without plugging it into an amplifier, the people at Fender were blown away. They couldn't believe the sound. I said, 'See, gentlemen, the world is no longer flat.' ~ Dick Dale
Dale Baxter quotes by Dick Dale
Caregiving leaves its mark on us. No matter what we do to prepare ourselves the hole left behind looms large. ~ Dale L. Baker
Dale Baxter quotes by Dale L. Baker

Dale Baxter quotes by Dale Carnegie

You can make it to AAA ball on talent only. It's difficult but it can be done. But to make it to the big leagues, you HAVE to be coachable. You have to stay coachable. ~ Dale Murphy
Dale Baxter quotes by Dale Murphy
If they can see you love them, you can say anything to them. ~ Richard Baxter
Dale Baxter quotes by Richard Baxter
The original paraphernalia for the lottery had been lost long ago, and the black box now resting on the stool had been put into use even before Old Man Warner, the oldest man in town, was born. Mr. Summers spoke frequently to the villagers about making a new box, but no one liked to upset even as much tradition as was represented by the black box. There was a story that the present box had been made with some pieces of the box that had preceded it, the one that had been constructed when the first people settled down to make a village here. Every year, after the lottery, Mr. Summers began talking again about a new box, but every year the subject was allowed to fade off without anything's being done. The black box grew shabbier each year: by now it was no longer completely black but splintered badly along one side to show the original wood color, and in some places faded or stained.

Mr. Martin and his oldest son, Baxter, held the black box securely on the stool until Mr. Summers had stirred the papers thoroughly with his hand. Because so much of the ritual had been forgotten or discarded, Mr. Summers had been successful in having slips of paper substituted for the chips of wood that had been used for generations. Chips of wood, Mr. Summers had argued, had been all very well when the village was tiny, but now that the population was more than three hundred and likely to keep on growing, it was necessary to use something that would fit more easily into he black box. Dale Baxter quotes by Shirley Jackson
Remember this in choosing a husband or wife, if you are unmarried. It is not enough that your eye is pleased, that your tastes are met, that your mind finds congeniality, that there is amiability and affection, that there is a comfortable home for life. There needs something more than this. There is a life yet to come. Think of your soul, your immortal soul. Will it be helped upwards or dragged downwards by the union you are planning? Will it be made more heavenly, or more earthly, drawn nearer to Christ, or to the world? Will its religion grow in vigour, or will it decay? I pray you, by all your hopes of glory, allow this to enter into your calculations. 'Think,' as old Baxter said, and 'think, and think again,' before you commit yourself. 'Be not unequally yoked' (2 Corinthians 6:14). Matrimony is nowhere named among the means of conversion. ~ J.C. Ryle
Dale Baxter quotes by J.C. Ryle

Dale Baxter quotes by Steve Carell
I have no idea where this will lead us, but I have a definite feeling it will be a place both wonderful and strange." (Dale Cooper, in Twin Peaks) ~ Ken Bruen
Dale Baxter quotes by Ken Bruen

When you're tied to one show, you are very much at the mercy of the writers, so you can suddenly get a script where you have a heart attack and die. ~ Alan Dale

Dale Baxter quotes by Richard Baxter
I'm a novelist. I think fiction is important or I wouldn't be doing it, but most of it's bad. ~ Dale Peck
Dale Baxter quotes by Dale Peck
Shut off the past! Let the dead past bury its dead. . . . Shut out the yesterdays which have lighted fools the way to dusty death. . . . The load of tomorrow, added to that of yesterday, carried today, makes the strongest falter. Shut off the future as tightly as the past. . . . The future is today. . . . There is no tomorrow. ~ Dale Carnegie
