God. However, if we do not believe in the Christian myths about God, creation and souls, what does it mean that all people are 'equal'? Evolution is based on difference, not on equality. Every person carries a somewhat different genetic code, and is exposed from birth to different environmental influences. This leads to the development of different qualities that carry with them different chances of survival. 'Created equal' should therefore be translated into 'evolved differently'. ~ Yuval Noah Harari
Christian Myths quotes by Yuval Noah Harari
My aunt and my mother read to me when I was three from all the old Grimm fairy tales, Andersen fairy tales, and then all the Oz books as I was growing up ... So by the time when I was ten or eleven, I was just full to the brim with these, and the Greek myths, and the Roman myths. And then, of course, I went to Sunday school, and then you take in the Christian myths, which are all fascinating in their own way ... I guess I always tended to be a visual person, and myths are very visual, and I began to draw, and then I felt the urge to carry on these myths.
If I'm anything at all, I'm not really a science-fiction writer - I'm a writer of fairy tales and modern myths about technology. ~ Ray Bradbury
Christian Myths quotes by Ray Bradbury
Up till now it has been thought that the growth of the Christian myths during the Roman Empire was possible only because printing was not yet invented. Precisely the contrary. The daily press and the telegraph, which in a moment spreads inventions over the whole earth, fabricate more myths (and the bourgeois cattle believe and enlarge upon them) in one day than could have formerly been done in a century. ~ Karl Marx
Christian Myths quotes by Karl Marx
What I like about baroque is the reemergence of pre-Christian religion. The art of baroque mixes ancient pre-Christian myths with Christian imagery and each reflects upon the other. ~ Camille Henrot
Christian Myths quotes by Camille Henrot
The mullahs of the Islamic world and the mullahs of the Hindu world and the mullahs of the Christian world are all on the same side. And we are against them all. ~ Arundhati Roy
Christian Myths quotes by Arundhati Roy
It is God's jealous love that both unnerves us and draws us to Him. His relentless pursuit, His fierce hatred of any rival, and His incomprehensible willingness to anguish on our behalf captures our heart for His love. His jealousy is our shield; it is our promise of eternal protection and passionate exclusivity. it is our confidence that the divine Lover will win His bride. ~ Tremper Longman III
Christian Myths quotes by Tremper Longman III
The supposedly eyewitness authority of the Pseudo-Turpin finds a parallel in another genre in which vernacular prose was pioneered: that of the historical memoir. There were twelfth-century verse histories narrated by authors who had personally participated in the events they describe, such as the Third Crusade. But the Fourth Crusade of 1202-4 saw a switch to prose. This shameful fiasco, in which the crusaders were induced to turn aside from the Holy Land and attack instead the Christian city of Constantinople, inspired two contrasting accounts. Robert de Clari--ignorant of higher-level strategy, but all agog at the splendours of Constantinople--gives a worm's eye view. Geoffroi de Villehardouin, by contrast, has a top diplomat's suave authority and a leader's eye for the aesthetics of war--the splendid sight of a fleet, or the noble heroism of a ruler. For both authors the medium of prose seems to convey the purported authenticity and transparency of lived experience. ~ Sarah Cay Terence Cave Malcolm Bowie
Christian Myths quotes by Sarah Cay Terence Cave Malcolm Bowie
Your blessings far outnumber your bitterness. ~ Lailah Gifty Akita
Christian Myths quotes by Lailah Gifty Akita
What kind of Christian are you? Did you ever lose a job, or lose a night's sleep, or lose a friend for God? If your Christianity never costs you a dollar, never cost you a friend, never cost any tears or broken heart, then can you really say that you love the Lord very much? To be a really good Christian is going to cost you. ~ John R. Rice
Christian Myths quotes by John R. Rice
If you read the literature of the great religions, time and time again you come across descriptions of what is usually referred to as "spiritual experience." You will find that in all the various traditions this modality of spiritual experience seems to be the same, whether it occurs in the Christian West, the Islamic Middle East, the Hindu world of Asia, or the Buddhist world. In each culture, it is quite definitely the same experience, and it is characterized by the transcendence of individuality and by a sensation of being one with the total energy of the universe. ~ Alan W. Watts
Christian Myths quotes by Alan W. Watts
This Sunday School has been of help to me, greater perhaps than any other force in my Christian life, and I can ask no better things for you than that you, and all that shall come after you in this great band of workers for Christ, shall receive the same measure of blessedness which I have been permitted to have. ~ John D. Rockefeller
Christian Myths quotes by John D. Rockefeller
God will make straight paths. ~ Lailah Gifty Akita
Christian Myths quotes by Lailah Gifty Akita
Voices calling Christians to forget about doctrinal differences and just love Jesus do not represent Christian maturity. This is like that humorous bit of wisdom, if you want to succeed every time, just lower the standards ~ John Crotts
Christian Myths quotes by John Crotts
Prayer is not about changing your situation, although sometimes God grants those requests. It's about changing your heart. ~ Tammy L. Gray
Christian Myths quotes by Tammy L. Gray
She liked Christian names, she liked those who used them as a sign of easy inclusion and intimacy, but to her the use of a name remained a proclamation, an action, an event. She was not accustomed to names. ~ Margaret Drabble
Christian Myths quotes by Margaret Drabble
Men call their sons Paul and their dogs Nero today. ~ J. Vernon McGee
Christian Myths quotes by J. Vernon McGee
Our feelings are unreliable and cannot be trusted to convey truth. ~ Joyce Meyer
Christian Myths quotes by Joyce Meyer
Yes, I believe you can be right with God and still not like the way some people behave. Our admonition is to love them in a larger and more comprehensive way because we are all one in Christ Jesus. This kind of love is indeed a Christian virtue! ~ Aiden Wilson Tozer
Christian Myths quotes by Aiden Wilson Tozer
Learn from the past,
log the lessons from the past, but
leave the past! ~ Elizabeth George
Christian Myths quotes by Elizabeth George
That I am not a member of any Christian church is true; but I have never denied the truth of the Scriptures, and I have never spoken with intentional disrespect of religion in general, or of any denomination of Christians in particular. ~ Abraham Lincoln
Christian Myths quotes by Abraham Lincoln
I never knew any man in my life who could not bear another's misfortunes perfectly like a Christian. ~ Alexander Pope
Christian Myths quotes by Alexander Pope
There are some Christian people who taste and see and enjoy religion in their own souls, and who get at a deeper knowledge of it than books can ever give them, though they should search all their days. ~ Charles Spurgeon
Christian Myths quotes by Charles Spurgeon
If we are Christians, we must look like Christ - this is my deep conviction. ~ Mother Teresa
Christian Myths quotes by Mother Teresa

Gina:
Especially today, with the enormity of current events, I want to convey to you again, how much you mean to me and how proud I am to be your husband. The hard work that you are engaged in right now is exhausting, invisible and largely thankless in the short term.
But honey, please know that buried at the core of this tedium is the most noble and important work in the world- God's work; the fruits of which you and I will be lucky enough to enjoy as we grow old together. Watching these little guys grow into men is a privilege that I am proud to share with you, and the perfect fulfillment of our marriage bonds.
You are a great mom.
You are a great wife.
You are my best friend.
You are very pretty.
Happy Birthday.

-Matt ~ Michael Spehn
Christian Myths quotes by Michael Spehn
Our government is certainly going to fall like a rope of sand if unsupported by the moral fabric of God's Word. The moral structure in our country grew from Judeo-Christian roots. When those values are applied, they produce moral fruits. But if that structure disappears, the moral sentiment that shapes our nation's goals will disappear with it. ~ Billy Graham
Christian Myths quotes by Billy Graham
Every child ought to be educated. ~ Lailah Gifty Akita
Christian Myths quotes by Lailah Gifty Akita
The apostle Paul often appears in Christian thought as the one chiefly responsible for the de-Judaization of the gospel and even for the transmutation of the person of Jesus from a rabbi in the Jewish sense to a divine being in the Greek sense. Such an interpretation of Paul became almost canonical in certain schools of biblical criticism during the nineteenth century, especially that of Ferdinand Christian Baur, who saw the controversy between Paul and Peter as a conflict between the party of Peter, with its 'Judaizing' distortion of the gospel into a new law, and the party of Paul, with its universal vision of the gospel as a message about Jesus for all humanity. Very often, of course, this description of the opposition between Peter and Paul and between law and gospel was cast in the language of the opposition between Roman Catholicism (which traced its succession to Peter as the first pope) and Protestantism (which arose from Luther's interpretation of the epistles of Paul). Luther's favorite among those epistles, the letter to the Romans, became the charter for this supposed declaration of independence from Judaism. ~ Jaroslav Pelikan
Christian Myths quotes by Jaroslav Pelikan
It is possible to live the Christian life just on the surface, knowing only enough to carry on an intelligent conversation in the church foyer with another equally uninformed believer, but when that happens you are vulnerable to the attack of the deceiver. ~ David Jeremiah
Christian Myths quotes by David Jeremiah
An angel fell from Heaven without any other passion except pride, and so we may ask whether it is possible to ascend to Heaven by humility alone, without any other of the virtues. ~ John Climacus
Christian Myths quotes by John Climacus
The Saviour is the Lord Jesus Christ. ~ Lailah Gifty Akita
Christian Myths quotes by Lailah Gifty Akita
We are sustained by God's mighty power. ~ Lailah Gifty Akita
Christian Myths quotes by Lailah Gifty Akita
If we judged by realities we should give honor not to the rich for the fine clothes they wear but to the poor who are the makers of such things. ~ Odo Of Cluny
Christian Myths quotes by Odo Of Cluny
My father was a Republican, and he couldn't stand what Franklin Delano Roosevelt was doing to the country. I always say I'm a mean-spirited narrow-minded right-wing, conservative Christian ... I start out with that, and if you don't like it, you can lump it. I am not politically correct. ~ Jane Russell
Christian Myths quotes by Jane Russell
For my future I have no concern, and as a true philosopher, I never would have any, for I know not what it may be: as a Christian, on the other hand, faith must believe without discussion, and the stronger it is, the more it keeps silent. ~ Giacomo Casanova
Christian Myths quotes by Giacomo Casanova
I want Christians to consider who they vote for. We look a lot at the presidential elections. And that's where so much of our focus is, especially from the media, but some of the most important elections are the local elections - the mayors, city council members, county commissioners, school boards. How important school boards are - and we need to get Christian men and women running for office. We need Christian men and women not only running for office, but voting and getting behind other Christians that are running for office. ~ Franklin Graham
Christian Myths quotes by Franklin Graham
The young need their sleep and their dreams; only we who are old dream best when we are awake. ~ Erik Christian Haugaard
Christian Myths quotes by Erik Christian Haugaard
Adversity refined us like gold. ~ Lailah Gifty Akita
Christian Myths quotes by Lailah Gifty Akita
We must do worldly jobs, but if we do them with sanctified minds, they become offerings to God. ~ Aiden Wilson Tozer
Christian Myths quotes by Aiden Wilson Tozer
Men of simple understanding, little inquisitive and little instructed, make good Christians. ~ Michel De Montaigne
Christian Myths quotes by Michel De Montaigne
Because my faith is important to me and then they wrote it in that my character I would be playing would also be a Christian, many people would often assume now that I'm playing myself on television. And I'm not. ~ Candace Cameron
Christian Myths quotes by Candace Cameron
The smell of subjectivity clings to the mechanical definition of complexity as stubbornly as it sticks to the definition of information. ~ Hans Christian Von Baeyer
Christian Myths quotes by Hans Christian Von Baeyer
The mark of the Christian is the willingness to look for the Divine in the flesh of a babe in a crib, the continuing Christ under the appearance of bread on an altar, and a meditation and a prayer on a string of beads ~ Fulton J. Sheen
Christian Myths quotes by Fulton J. Sheen
If you see your brother in need, it doesn't matter if you already gave somewhere else. You should be open to the idea of God using you to meet your brother's unexpected need. ~ Andy Stanley
Christian Myths quotes by Andy Stanley
Indian monks were the first to choose the garden as the proper setting for their lives, which were devoted to the
contemplation of the divine; but with a prophetic eye we may see that the garden will often be dedicated in a
like manner: at a later time Greek philosophers, and monks in early Christian days, will retire into their
gardens for united, yet silent, contemplation. ~ Marie-Luise Gothein
Christian Myths quotes by Marie-Luise Gothein
There are certain religions that require you to pray five times a day and I never understood why Christians aren't asked to pray five times a day. ~ Cathy Hughes
Christian Myths quotes by Cathy Hughes
The Spirit reveals what lies ahead. ~ Lailah Gifty Akita
Christian Myths quotes by Lailah Gifty Akita
Our comfort in theological traditions should never usurp our desire for spiritual Truth. If we vigorously pursue the rituals rather than a relational experience with God then we've missed His message entirely. ~ Jason Versey
Christian Myths quotes by Jason Versey
Just as the medieval church cut off the congregation from participating in the sung worship of the service, today many well-meaning Christian leaders have reconstructed a sung worship wherein congregational participation does not matter. ~ Douglas Bond
Christian Myths quotes by Douglas Bond
A Christian should resemble a fruit tree with real fruit, not a Christmas tree with decorations tied on ~ John Stott
