I liked Yeats! That wild Irishman. I really loved his love of language, his flow. His chaotic ideas seemed to me just the right thing for a poet. Passion! He was always on the right side. He may be wrongheaded, but his heart was always on the right side. He wrote beautiful poetry. ~ Chinua Achebe
Beautiful Poetry quotes by Chinua Achebe
I love Sufism as I love beautiful poetry, but it is not the answer. Sufism is like a mirage in the desert. It says to you, come and sit, relax and enjoy yourself for a while. ~ Naguib Mahfouz

Poetry reproduces an indefinable mood that is more amorous than love itself. Venus is not so beautiful all naked, alive, and panting, as she is here in Virgil. ~ Michel De Montaigne
Beautiful Poetry quotes by Michel De Montaigne
Just because I've extricated myself from religion doesn't mean I'm not interested in the scriptures. I look at the Bible as itself. It's a holy book, it has incredible literature in it and beautiful poetry. ~ Patti Smith
Beautiful Poetry quotes by Patti Smith
A story of particular facts is a mirror which obscures and distorts that which should be beautiful; poetry is a mirror which makes beautiful that which it distorts. ~ Percy Bysshe Shelley
Beautiful Poetry quotes by Percy Bysshe Shelley
Don't say that poetry, my friend, is beautiful
or powerful
for there is no powerful or beautiful poetry

and your self leaves you for another ~ Mahmoud Darwish
Beautiful Poetry quotes by Mahmoud Darwish

The greatest ideas, the most profound thoughts, and the most beautiful poetry are born from the womb of silence ~ William Arthur Ward
Beautiful Poetry quotes by William Arthur Ward
Poetry can be dangerous, especially beautiful poetry, because it gives the illusion of having had the experience without actually going through it. ~ Rumi
Beautiful Poetry quotes by Rumi
One of the best records I've ever heard. Seriously, maybe top 20 all-time ... I think if Rich Mullins had been given more time here, and if God had blessed his life with love and a wife, if he had the chance to see as much of the relational beauty as he saw of the natural beauty, I think he might have written some songs like the ones we find on BiRDS OF RELOCATiON. And you know that's about the highest praise I can give someone. You will not find a combination of more beautiful poetry, raw honesty, and gorgeous melodies for a long time. ~ Todd Agnew
Beautiful Poetry quotes by Todd Agnew
Poetry is enthusiasm with wings of fire; it is the angel of high thoughts, that inspires us with the power of sacrifice. ~ Giuseppe Mazzini
Beautiful Poetry quotes by Giuseppe Mazzini
Oh, the things we invent when we are scared
and want to be rescued. ~ Richard Siken

It's a showy habit I've got," I say. "To be always quoting poetry and stuff. Some of us use our brains, and some of us use our memories. ~ Barbara Trapido

"You have shit upon your shoulder. ~ George R R Martin
Beautiful Poetry quotes by George R R Martin
We can hear your voice
We can hear it through the songs of praise
We can hear it through the birds
We can hear it through the wind
We can hear your voice in our hearts
We can hear your voice in our minds
We can hear you through everyhing ~ April Nichole
Beautiful Poetry quotes by April Nichole
He touched her chin. His eyes never left hers, and she almost felt as if he'd touched those as well. And then, with the softest, most tender caress imaginable, he kissed her. Sophie didn't just feel loved; she felt revered.
"I should wait until Monday," he said, "but I don't want to."
"I don't want you to wait," she whispered.
He kissed her again, this time with a bit more urgency. "You're so beautiful," he murmured. "Everything I ever dreamed of."
His lips found her cheek, her chin, her neck, and every kiss, every nibble robbed her of balance and breath. She was sure her legs would give out, sure her strength would fail her under his tender onslaught, and just when she was convinced she'd crumple to the floor, he scooped her into his arms and carried her to the bed.
"In my heart," he vowed, settling her against the quilts and pillows, "you are my wife."
Sophie's breath caught.
"After our wedding it will be legal," he said, stretching out alongside her, "blessed by God and country, but right now - " His voice grew hoarse as he propped himself up on one elbow so that he could gaze into her eyes. "Right now it is true."
Sophie reached up and touched his face. "I love you," she whispered. "I have always loved you. I think I loved you before I even knew you."
He leaned down to kiss her anew, but she stopped him with a breathy, "No, wait."
He paused, mere inches from her lips.
"At the masquerade," she said, her voice ~ Julia Quinn
Beautiful Poetry quotes by Julia Quinn
She broke apart first, a beautiful chaos of fire and light in my arms. Dirty and delicate. ~ J. Daniels
Beautiful Poetry quotes by J. Daniels
I could have had one life but insteads I had another because of this book my grandmother protected. What a miracle is that? I was taught to love beautiful things. I had a language in which to consider beauty. Later that extended to the opera, to the ballet, to architecture I saw, and even later still I came to realize that what I had seen in the paintings I could see in the fields or a river. I could see it in people. All of that I attribute to this book. ~ Ann Patchett
Beautiful Poetry quotes by Ann Patchett
My mother never, ever told me about evilness. She only saw the beautiful things ... she wanted to protect me from it. ~ Diane Von Furstenberg
Beautiful Poetry quotes by Diane Von Furstenberg
Song

This is the love I bring,
Absolute and nothing:
A tree but with no roots,
A cloud heavy with fruit,
A wide stone stair
That leads nowhere
But to empty sky,
Ambiguous majesty.

This is the love I bear:
It is light as air,
Yet weighs like an earth;
It is water flowing,
Yet adamant as fire.
It is coming from going.
It is dying and growing.

A love so rare and hard
It cuts a diamond word
Upon the windowpane,
"Never, never again,
Never upon my breast,"
Having no time to bring,
Having no place to rest,
Absolute and nothing. ~ May Sarton
Beautiful Poetry quotes by May Sarton
Nobody reads poetry, we are told at every inopportune moment. I read poetry. I am somebody. I am the people, too. It can be allowed that an industrious quantity of contemporary American poetry is consciously written for a hermetic constituency; the bulk is written for the bourgeoisie, leaving a lean cut for labor. Only the hermetically aimed has a snowball's chance in hell of reaching its intended ears. One proceeds from this realization. A staggering figure of vibrant, intelligent people can and do live without poetry, especially without the poetry of their time. This figure includes the unemployed, the rank and file, the union brass, banker, scientist, lawyer, doctor, architect, pilot, and priest. It also includes most academics, most of the faculty of the humanities, most allegedly literary editors and most allegedly literary critics. They do so--go forward in their lives, toward their great reward, in an engulfing absence of poetry--without being perceived or perceiving themselves as hobbled or deficient in any significant way. It is nearly true, though I am often reminded of a Transtromer broadside I saw in a crummy office building in San Francisco:

We got dressed and showed the house

You live well the visitor said

The slum must be inside you.

If I wanted to understand a culture, my own for instance, and if I thought such an understanding were the basis for a lifelong inquiry, I would turn to poetry fi ~ C.D. Wright
Beautiful Poetry quotes by C.D. Wright
There is more of a nation's politics to be got out of its poetry than out of all its systematic writers on public affairs and constitutions. ~ Woodrow Wilson
Beautiful Poetry quotes by Woodrow Wilson
If there is any jarring at all in my photographs, it's because we are so used to ingesting pictures of everywhere looking beautiful. ~ Martin Parr
Beautiful Poetry quotes by Martin Parr
Poetry is a sleep-maker for that which sits up late in us listening for the footfall of the future on to-day's doorstep. ~ Laura Riding
Beautiful Poetry quotes by Laura Riding
Music is, by far, the best art. Nothing even comes close. It's so immediate and emotional. In writing, maybe ninety percent of it is the unconscious and ten percent is control. In music, I think it's probably more like ninety-nine percent the unconscious. It's just a beautiful thing happening through you. And so, too, is writing a great story. ~ T.C. Boyle
Beautiful Poetry quotes by T.C. Boyle
The kind of poetry to avoid in the pretty-pretty kind that pleased our grandmothers, the kind that Longfellow and Tennyson, good poets at their best, wrote at their worst. ~ Clifton Fadiman
Beautiful Poetry quotes by Clifton Fadiman
There's more to you than cute. People call you cute because you're petite ... but you're sexy too ... Mostly you're beautiful in a way that stops a man in his tracks. ~ Samantha Young
Beautiful Poetry quotes by Samantha Young
You can be the most beautiful person on Earth, and if you don't have a fitness or diet routine, you won't be beautiful. ~ Martha Stewart
Beautiful Poetry quotes by Martha Stewart
A miniature model of the solar system, contained within a glass dome. It was a beautiful thing; each of the moons glimmered in place around the nine planets and the fiery sun, ~ J.K. Rowling
Beautiful Poetry quotes by J.K. Rowling
Fiction is supposed to be immersive and supposed to be entertaining and narrative, so structures have to be buried a little bit. If they come foregrounded too much, it stops being fiction and starts being poetry - something more concrete and out of time. ~ Eleanor Catton
Beautiful Poetry quotes by Eleanor Catton
Ricco will take care of you," he said. "Ricco thinks you are beautiful-he blushes when your name is mentioned."
Ricco took their order and blushed when he put a glass of wine in front of Lauren. Mary's eyes twinkled, but when he left she looked directly at Lauren and said without preamble, "Would you like to talk about Nick?"
Lauren choked on her wine. "Please, let's not ruin a lovely lunch. I already know more than enough about him."
"What,for example?" Mary persisted gently.
"I know that he's an egotistical, arrogant, bad-tempered, dictatorial tyrant!"
"And you love him." It wasn't a question, it was a statement.
"Yes," Lauren said angrily.
Mary was struggling obviously to hide her amusement at Lauren's tone. "I was certain that you did. I also suspect that he loves you. ~ Judith McNaught
Beautiful Poetry quotes by Judith McNaught
It is true that the sky was always beautiful but I don't remember marvelling at sunset or gazing at the dawn of a new day. Survival does not allow time for poetic reflection. ~ Izzeldin Abuelaish
Beautiful Poetry quotes by Izzeldin Abuelaish
Happy the bard, (if that fair name belong
To him that blends no fable with his song)
Whose lines uniting, by an honest art,
The faithful monitors and poets part,
Seek to delight, that they may mend mankind,
And while they captivate, inform the mind.
Still happier, if he till a thankful soil,
And fruit reward his honorable toil:
But happier far who comfort those that wait
To hear plain truth at Judah's hallow'd gate ~ William Cowper
Beautiful Poetry quotes by William Cowper
Damn! Beautiful and funny. I can't wait to see what else you're hiding behind that sexy smile. ~ M. Leighton
Beautiful Poetry quotes by M. Leighton
Remember, we are mortal, but poetry is not. ~ Patti Smith
Beautiful Poetry quotes by Patti Smith
Beautiful art sells. If it sells itself, it is an idolatrous commodity; if it sells anything else, it is a seductive advertisement. ~ Dave Hickey
Beautiful Poetry quotes by Dave Hickey
Maybe that was the best part. The beautiful peace that came with
living her own story, knowing every turn of the page and tug of the
heart was a new beginning. ~ Melissa Tagg
Beautiful Poetry quotes by Melissa Tagg
Sometimes the sky looks so beautiful and at the same time earth also looks so beautiful and finally we look so beautiful as well! By just looking at the nature you become the nature itself! Look at the beautiful full moon, you become a beautiful full moon! ~ Mehmet Murat Ildan
Beautiful Poetry quotes by Mehmet Murat Ildan
There is slow growth, but it is positive slow growth. At the same time, ratios of debt-to-incomes go down. That's a beautiful deleveraging. ~ Ray Dalio
Beautiful Poetry quotes by Ray Dalio
Poetry is what we turn to in the most emotional moments of our life - when a beloved friend dies, when a baby is born or when we fall in love. ~ Erica Jong
Beautiful Poetry quotes by Erica Jong
Life is a combo of attachment and detachment.

Love is the most natural thing and you are bound to get attached to persons, places and things. However, while getting attached so, you should know that all these attachments too have an expiry date. It's exactly at that point that the art of detachment helps.

Persons, places and things are meant for specific periods in life after which you should know how to let go and embrace newer things. The world is beautiful and you should have belief in Him. ~ Neelam Saxena Chandra
Beautiful Poetry quotes by Neelam Saxena Chandra
A beautiful girlfriend is worth two more. ~ Raheel Farooq
Beautiful Poetry quotes by Raheel Farooq
Young girls today are very mistaken to be thinking that their sense of self-worth and their acknowledgment of their beauty depends on whether a man will give that to them or not. Such naïveté! And so what will happen when the man changes his mind about her? Tells her she's not beautiful enough? That she's not good enough? Cheats on her? Leaves her? Then what happens? She will lose all her self-worth, she will think she is not good enough, she is not beautiful enough, because all of those feelings depended on the man in the first place! And along with the loss of the man, it will all be lost as well! Mothers, teach your daughters better. It pains me to see such naive innocence right under my nose! Such naïveté does no good for any girl. It is better for a girl to be worldly-wise and have street-smarts! That's what a girl needs to have in life! Not wide-eyed delusional innocence! The sense of self-worth and acknowledgment of being beautiful must not come from a man, it must come from inside the woman herself, men will come and men will go and their coming and going must not take an effect on the woman's sense of worth and beauty. ~ C. JoyBell C.
Beautiful Poetry quotes by C. JoyBell C.
We operate under the notion that America actually belongs to us Christians, and that we belong to it. We believe that the church and the state can make beautiful music together if only they would cooperate. We believe that the preaching of the Kingdom of God and the rallying around the red, white, and blue are always compatible. We believe the lie of the Serpent that we can hold to the sacrificial, life-giving, peace-pursuing, cheek-turning way of Christ and hold to the poisonous, domineering, power-hungry, least-of-these-abusing systems of the Empire. But this is impossible. ~ Ronnie McBrayer
Beautiful Poetry quotes by Ronnie McBrayer
if music was the language of the world, imagine how beautiful a seven-billion-part harmony would be. ~ Scott Hoying
Beautiful Poetry quotes by Scott Hoying
We are, in a way, temporary ambulatory repositories for our nucleic acids. This does not deny our humanity; it does not prevent us from pursuing the good, the true and the beautiful. But it would be a great mistake to ignore where we have come from in our attempt to determine where we are going. ~ Carl Sagan
Beautiful Poetry quotes by Carl Sagan
He pushed up a little, raising his head to look into her eyes. After a moment, weariness settled into his features. "It's too late regardless. I'm yours now."
I'm yours. The beautiful opposite of what Peter White had said to her. You're mine now, he'd crowed, as if she were a purchased treat. The difference, it seemed, between a boy and a man. Just as Jude had promised. ~ Victoria Dahl
Beautiful Poetry quotes by Victoria Dahl
Alex loved books. He was the one who first introduced me to poetry. That's another reason I can't read anymore. ~ Lauren Oliver
