Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment. ~ Buddha
Avalokiteshvara Buddha quotes by Buddha
Happiness will never come to those who fail to appreciate what they already have. ~ Gautama Buddha
Avalokiteshvara Buddha quotes by Gautama Buddha
If we can look upon our work not for self-benefit,but as a means to benefit society,we will be practicing appreciation and patience in our daily lives. ~ Gautama Buddha
Avalokiteshvara Buddha quotes by Gautama Buddha
HOUSE

Grow high. The devil can't find you.
Grow deep. Buddha can't find you.
Build a house and live there.
Gourd creepers will climb over it,
their flowers dazzling at midnight.
~ Ko Un
Avalokiteshvara Buddha quotes by Ko Un
Friendship is not an obligation or duty. It is a sweet responsibility. ~ Debasish Mridha
Avalokiteshvara Buddha quotes by Debasish Mridha
The old masters said if you met another Buddha on the road, you should kill him. All reality is an illusion: if you think you've found the incarnation of enlightenment, destroy that illusion on the spot. But the real world is real. Therefore, if you meet a bandit on the road, you should kill him. Anyone who seeks to make a bad world worse is a monster and an alien. ~ Edward W. Robertson
Avalokiteshvara Buddha quotes by Edward W. Robertson
The quest for this unwearied inner peace is constant and universal. Probe deeply into the teachings of Buddha, Maimonides, or a Kempis, and you will discover that they base their diverse doctrines on the foundations of a large spiritual serenity. Analyze the prayers of troubled, overborne mankind of all creeds, in every age - and their petitions come down to the irreducible common denominators of daily bread and inward peace. Grown men do not pray for vain trifles. When they lift up their hearts and voices in this valley of tears they ask for strength and courage and understanding. ~ Joshua Loth Liebman
Avalokiteshvara Buddha quotes by Joshua Loth Liebman
Buddha has said to his disciples: Whenever you meditate, after each meditation, surrender all that you have earned out of meditation, surrender it to the universe. If you are blissful, pour it back into the universe - don't carry it as a treasure. If you are feeling very happy, share it immediately - don't become attached to it, otherwise your meditation itself will become a new process of the self. And the ultimate meditation is not a process of self. The ultimate meditation is a process of getting more and more into un-self, into non-self - it is a disappearance of the self. ~ Rajneesh
Avalokiteshvara Buddha quotes by Rajneesh
I shoot with my pen with the bullets of love. ~ Debasish Mridha
Avalokiteshvara Buddha quotes by Debasish Mridha
Don't forget to wonder and appreciate yourself. ~ Debasish Mridha
Avalokiteshvara Buddha quotes by Debasish Mridha
May all sentient beings be happy and free of suffering. ~ Gautama Buddha
Avalokiteshvara Buddha quotes by Gautama Buddha
Attachment leads to suffering. ~ Gautama Buddha
Avalokiteshvara Buddha quotes by Gautama Buddha
When I was a young man, near the beginning of my life, I looked around with true mindfulness and saw that all things are subject to decay. ~ Gautama Buddha
Avalokiteshvara Buddha quotes by Gautama Buddha
Inflowing thoughts come to an end in those who are ever alert of mind, training themselves night and day, and ever intent on nirvana ~ Gautama Buddha
Avalokiteshvara Buddha quotes by Gautama Buddha
Christ, Buddha, and Krishna are but waves in the Ocean of Infinite Consciousness that I am! ~ Swami Vivekananda
Avalokiteshvara Buddha quotes by Swami Vivekananda
When you have had nothing most of your life, you learn to appreciate the small things in life. The real challenge is appreciating the small things in life as you start to acquire material things and amassing wealth.
Jim Robinson ~ James Morris Robinson
Avalokiteshvara Buddha quotes by James Morris Robinson
A noble person is mindful and thankful for the favors he receives from others. ~ Gautama Buddha
Avalokiteshvara Buddha quotes by Gautama Buddha
THE INNER BUDDHA As Jigme Lingpa said, the moon has all the qualities necessary for its reflection to appear on the surface of a clear lake. If the moon did not have a shape or substance, and if it didn't reflect the light of the sun, it would not be possible for it to appear on the water's surface. Furthermore, the quality of clear water is that it can reflect, and when the moon and the water - two entirely separate entities - are perfectly aligned without any obstruction between them, a reflection of the moon will appear effortlessly, without intention. Similarly, our inner Buddha has qualities that enable it to manifest effortlessly and without intention. When there are no obstacles, the Buddha will reflect spontaneously in sentient beings who have the merit. Some ~ Dzongsar Jamyang Khyentse
Avalokiteshvara Buddha quotes by Dzongsar Jamyang Khyentse
Nirvana is this moment seen directly. There is no where else than here. The only gate is now. The only doorway is your own body and mind. There's nowhere to go. There's nothing else to be. There's no destination. It's not something to aim for in the afterlife. It's simply the quality of this moment. ~ Gautama Buddha
Avalokiteshvara Buddha quotes by Gautama Buddha
If by leaving a small pleasure one sees a great pleasure, let a wise man leave the small pleasure, and look to the great. ~ Gautama Buddha
Avalokiteshvara Buddha quotes by Gautama Buddha
Seeker, empty the boat, lighten the load, be free of craving and judgment and hatred, and feel the joy of the way. ~ Gautama Buddha
Avalokiteshvara Buddha quotes by Gautama Buddha
Master your words. Master your thoughts. Never allow your body to do harm. Follow these three roads with purity And you will find yourself upon the one way, The way of wisdom. ~ Gautama Buddha
Avalokiteshvara Buddha quotes by Gautama Buddha
We live in illusion and the appearance of things. There is a reality. We are that reality. When you understand this, you see that you are nothing, and being nothing, you are everything. That is all. ~ Gautama Buddha
Avalokiteshvara Buddha quotes by Gautama Buddha
To be concerned with the issue; soul versus non-soul, is to be in bondage to craving for becoming and non-becoming. ~ Gautama Buddha
Avalokiteshvara Buddha quotes by Gautama Buddha
Drink deeply. Live in serenity and joy. ~ Gautama Buddha
Avalokiteshvara Buddha quotes by Gautama Buddha
The world is a looking glass. It gives back to every man a true reflection of his own thoughts. Rule your mind or it will rule you. ~ Gautama Buddha
Avalokiteshvara Buddha quotes by Gautama Buddha
The naturalistic hypothesis that it's the brain that constructs the sense of self, now being explored by neuroscientists and neuro-philosophers worldwide, is entirely consistent with what meditation might reveal. Since experience seems a function (somehow – explaining consciousness is just getting underway) of what the brain and body do, the very sense of being a subject which purportedly "has" experience and "to whom" things happen is itself simply another neurally-instantiated aspect of subjectivity, albeit psychologically fundamental. What the brain constructs can perhaps be temporarily deconstructed, given the right conditions and sufficient practice. Thus the first-person meditative experience of the dropping away of ego, should it occur, is to experience what third-person science shows to be the dependent arising, and non-arising, of the phenomenal self. In this way, the scientific-physicalist and meditative-experiential perspectives, both empirical in different senses, end up with the same conclusion: the very core of self – the experienced locus of all our concern and striving – is a mutable, perishable, dependent phenomenon, just as the Buddha taught. Seeing this clearly from both perspectives might give us some psychological distance from the very self on behalf of which we're striving, giving us a measure of equanimity and opening space for compassion centered on others. Science and Buddhist practice are thus consilient partners in the quest for liberation. ~ Thomas W. Clark
Avalokiteshvara Buddha quotes by Thomas W. Clark
To keep the body in good health is a duty ... otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear. ~ Buddha
Avalokiteshvara Buddha quotes by Buddha
Charity bestowed upon those who are worthy of it is like good seed sown on a good soil that yields an abundance of fruits. But alms given to those who are yet under the tyrannical yoke of the passions are like seed deposited in a bad soil. The passions of the receiver of the alms choke, as it were, the growth of merits. ~ Buddha
Avalokiteshvara Buddha quotes by Buddha
Thousands of candles can be lit from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared. Buddha ~ Deena B. Chopra
Avalokiteshvara Buddha quotes by Deena B. Chopra
Love is beauty and beauty is truth, and that is why in the beauty of a flower we can see the truth of the universe. ~ Gautama Buddha
Avalokiteshvara Buddha quotes by Gautama Buddha
I've fought for and against pretty much every cause there is. There will always be war of some kind. At first it was over fertile soil and good water, then precious metal and then the most popular version of human disagreement, 'My God is better than your God.' Whether you draw your faith from Jeremiah and Jesus, Allah and Muhammad or Brahma and Buddha, it doesn't matter. Someone will tell you you're wrong, and he'll fight you over it. Me, I believe in aliens, and to hell with all earthly gods. In the grand scheme of a trillion planets in the universe we're just not that damn important anyway. And humans are rotten to the core. ~ David Baldacci
Avalokiteshvara Buddha quotes by David Baldacci
His success may be great, but be it ever so great the wheel of fortune may turn again and bring him down into the dust. ~ Gautama Buddha
Avalokiteshvara Buddha quotes by Gautama Buddha
the word that the Buddha used for suffering, dukkha, actually has the more subtle meaning of "pervasive unsatisfactoriness," I was even more impressed. "Suffering" always sounded a bit melodramatic, even if a careful reading of history seemed to support it. "Pervasive unsatisfactoriness ~ Mark Epstein
Avalokiteshvara Buddha quotes by Mark Epstein
Health is the first benefit. Content is the first fortune. Friendliness is the first kindness. Nirvana is the first happiness. ~ Gautama Buddha
Avalokiteshvara Buddha quotes by Gautama Buddha
If you sleep, Desire grows in you Like a vine in the forest. Like a monkey in the forest You jump from tree to tree, Never finding the fruit - From life to life, Never finding peace. If you are filled with desire Your sorrows swell Like the grass after the rain. But if you subdue desire Your sorrows shall fall from you Like drops of water from a lotus flower. ~ Gautama Buddha
Avalokiteshvara Buddha quotes by Gautama Buddha
Whatever a monk keeps pursuing with his thinking and pondering, that becomes the inclination of his awareness. ~ Gautama Buddha
Avalokiteshvara Buddha quotes by Gautama Buddha
The good renounce everything. The pure don't babble about sensual desires. Whether touched by pleasure or pain, the wise show no change of temper. ~ Gautama Buddha
Avalokiteshvara Buddha quotes by Gautama Buddha
When one is overcome by this wretched, clinging desire in the world, one's sorrows increase like grass growing up after a lot of rain. ~ Gautama Buddha
Avalokiteshvara Buddha quotes by Gautama Buddha
Without approval and without scorn, but carefully studying the sentences word by word, one should trace them in the Discourses and verify them by the Discipline. If they are neither traceable in the Discourses nor verifiable by the Discipline, one must conclude thus: 'Certainly, this is not the Blessed One's utterance; this has been misunderstood by that bhikkhu - or by that community, or by those elders, or by that elder.' In that way, bhikkhus, you should reject it. ~ Gautama Buddha
Avalokiteshvara Buddha quotes by Gautama Buddha
The Beautiful chariots of kings wear out, This body too undergoes decay. But the Dhamma of the good does not decay: So the good proclaim along with the good. ~ Gautama Buddha
Avalokiteshvara Buddha quotes by Gautama Buddha
He who walks in the company of fools suffers much. Company with fools, as with an enemy, is always painful. Company with the wise is pleasure, like meeting with kinfolk. ~ Gautama Buddha
Avalokiteshvara Buddha quotes by Gautama Buddha
Begin this moment, wherever you find yourself, and take no thought of the morrow. Look not to Russia, China, India, not to Washington, not to the adjoining county, city or state, but to your immediate surroundings. Forget Buddha, Jesus, Mohammed and all the others. Do your part to the best of your ability, regardless of the consequences. Above all, do not wait for the next man to follow suit. ~ Henry Miller
Avalokiteshvara Buddha quotes by Henry Miller
Being deeply learned and skilled, being well trained and using well spoken words; This is good luck. ~ Gautama Buddha
Avalokiteshvara Buddha quotes by Gautama Buddha
If a person does not harm any living being ... and does not kill or cause others to kill - that person is a true spiritual practitioner ~ Gautama Buddha
Avalokiteshvara Buddha quotes by Gautama Buddha
If a man who has committed many a misdemeanor does not repent and cleanse his heart of the evil, retribution will come upon his person as sure as the streams run into the ocean which becomes ever deeper and wider. If a man who has committed a misdemeanor come to the knowledge of it, reform himself, and practise goodness, the force of retribution will gradually exhaust itself as a disease gradually loses its baneful influence when the patient perspires. ~ Gautama Buddha
Avalokiteshvara Buddha quotes by Gautama Buddha
One who, while seeking happiness, oppresses with violence other living beings who also desire happinesss, will not find happiness hereafter. ~ Gautama Buddha
Avalokiteshvara Buddha quotes by Gautama Buddha
You don't understand. I only prostitute the part of the body that isn't important, and nobody suffers except my karma a little bit. I don't do big harm. You prostitute your mind. Mind is seat of Buddha. What you do is very very bad. You should not use your mind in that way ~ John Burdett
Avalokiteshvara Buddha quotes by John Burdett
Let us live in joy, never falling sick like those who hate us. Let us live in freedom, without hatred even among those who hate. ~ Gautama Buddha
