Active communication is the ability to exchange, transmit, or share information. ~ Asa Don Brown
Active Communication quotes by Asa Don Brown
I've always thought of writing as sort of active communication. ~ Lily King
Active Communication quotes by Lily King
Tyler reacted to this for some reason, looking at John with a "when are people gonna learn" look, and then he spat on the ground. Tobacco spitting is a kind of nonverbal communication in many parts of the Midwest. He must have spilled his coffee a lot as a kid because he had one of those big spill-proof mugs, the kind that flare way out at the bottom. It looked like he was speaking into a megaphone every time he took a drink. I ~ David Wong
Active Communication quotes by David Wong
we sat there and
looked into each
other's eyes

that was all
we needed ~ Avijeet Das
Active Communication quotes by Avijeet Das
The Holy Spirit, in the variety of his gifts, unites us and enables us to contribute to the building up of the Church in holiness. In this great work, each of us has a part to play; each of us, as a "living stone", is needed for the growth and the beauty of God's holy temple. Let us ask the Lord to help us to take an ever more active part in the Church's life and mission, guided by the Holy Spirit and with Jesus as our cornerstone. ~ Pope Francis
Active Communication quotes by Pope Francis
On August 5, 2012, a few days before the fourth anniversary of the war, a forty-seven-minute Russian documentary film "8 Avgusta 2008. Poteryannyy den" (8 August 2008. The Lost Day) was posted on YouTube. In the film retired and active service generals accused former President Medvedev of indecisiveness and even cowardice during the conflict. They praised Putin, on the other hand, for his bold and vigorous action. According to one of Medvedev's critics, retired Army General Yury Baluevsky, a former First Deputy Defense Minister and Chief of the General Staff, "a decision to invade Georgia was made by Putin before Medvedev was inaugurated President and Commander-in-Chief in May 2008. A detailed plan of military action was arranged and unit commanders were given specific orders in advance." [...]

After the release of the documentary film Putin confirmed that the Army General Staff had, indeed, prepared a plan of military action against Georgia. It was prepared "at the end of 2006, and I authorized it in 2007," he said. Interestingly, Putin also said "that the decision to 'use the armed forces' had been considered for three days - from around 5 August," which clearly contradicts the official Russian version that the Russian army only reacted to a Georgian attack that started on August 7. According to this plan not only heavy weaponry and troops were prepared for the invasion, but also South Ossetian paramilitary units were trained to support the Russian invading troop ~ Marcel H. Van Herpen
Active Communication quotes by Marcel H. Van Herpen
Simply minding one's own business is more offensive than being intrusive. Without ever saying a word one can make a person feel less-than. ~ Criss Jami
Active Communication quotes by Criss Jami
At the blind date,
deafen your ears
to hear the words
spoken with her eyes. ~ Khang Kijarro Nguyen
Active Communication quotes by Khang Kijarro Nguyen
If you want an active schedule, you have to husband your time so you can act on the things that are important. ~ Robert Pozen
Active Communication quotes by Robert Pozen
But if I can be convinced and then through the work that we do together, the orchestra can really be convinced of the big sweep of that communication that the piece suggests, then the audience will get it and it will be a good experience for all of us. ~ Michael Tilson Thomas
Active Communication quotes by Michael Tilson Thomas
Better to do nothing than to engage in localized acts whose ultimate function is to make the system run more smoothly. The threat today is not passivity, but pseudo-activity, the urge to "be active", to "participate", to mask the Nothingness of what goes on. People intervene all the time, "doing something"; academics participate in meaningless "debates," etc.; but the truly difficult thing is to step back, to withdraw from it all. Those in power often prefer even "critical" participation or a critical dialogue to silence, since to engage us in such a "dialogue" ensures that our ominous passivity is broken. The "Bartlebian act" I propose is violent precisely insofar as it entails ceasing this obsessive activity-in it, violence and non-violence overlap (non-violence appears as the highest violence), likewise activity and inactivity (the most radical thing is to do nothing). ~ Slavoj Zizek
Active Communication quotes by Slavoj Zizek
Let me just acknowlege that the function of grammar is to make language as efficent and clear and transparent as possible. But if we're all constantly correcting each other's grammar and being really snotty about it, then people stop talking because they start to be petrified that they're going to make some sort of terrible grammatical error and that's precisely the opposite of what grammar is supposed to do, which is to facilitate clear communication. ~ John Green
Active Communication quotes by John Green
Communication doesn't take place because you tell somebody something. It takes place when you observe them closely and track their ability to follow you. Like ~ Alan Alda
Active Communication quotes by Alan Alda
There are four-letter words you should never use in business. They're not fuck or shit. They're need, must, can't, easy, just, only and fast. These words gets in the way of healthy communication ~ Jason Fried
Active Communication quotes by Jason Fried
Speech is power: speech is to persuade, to convert, to compel. It is to bring another out of his bad sense into your good sense. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
Active Communication quotes by Ralph Waldo Emerson
Evil communication truly corrupts good manner.

Not every adult has good moral upbringing and as such they abuse ethics at will. To them, they are having fun when in truth they are fooling themselves. ~ OMOSOHWOFA CASEY
Active Communication quotes by OMOSOHWOFA CASEY
I have noticed that nothing I never said ever did me any harm. ~ Calvin Coolidge
Active Communication quotes by Calvin Coolidge
They must talk to each other directly, Ender, mind to mind. What one thinks, another can also think; what one remembers, another can also re-member. Why would they ever develop language? Why would they ever learn to read and write? How would they know what reading and writing were if they saw them? Or signals? Or numbers? Or anything that we use to communicate? This isn't just a matter of translating from one language to another. They don't have a language at all. We used every means we could think of to communicate with them, but they don't even have the machinery to know we're signaling. And maybe they've been trying to think to us, and they can't understand why we don't respond. ~ Orson Scott Card
Active Communication quotes by Orson Scott Card
Your pets can feel your grief after they pass away but it will not harm them or keep them from continuing on their journey in the afterlife. ~ Karen A. Anderson
Active Communication quotes by Karen A. Anderson
The most necessary task of civilization is to teach people how to think. It should be the primary purpose of our public schools. The mind of a child is naturally active, it develops through exercise. Give a child plenty of exercise, for body and brain. The trouble with our way of educating is that it does not give elasticity to the mind. It casts the brain into a mold. It insists that the child must accept. It does not encourage original thought or reasoning, and it lays more stress on memory than observation. ~ Thomas A. Edison
Active Communication quotes by Thomas A. Edison
The real dividing line between things we call work and the things we call leisure is that in leisure, however active we may be, we make our own choices and our own decisions. We feel for the time being that our life is our own. ~ Raymond Williams
Active Communication quotes by Raymond Williams
To know and not to do is in fact not to know. We need to be active instruments against evil. We need to do. ~ Maya Angelou
Active Communication quotes by Maya Angelou
I have moved on from being a British parliamentarian, I have moved on from being a New Labour politician, I have moved on from being the supporter in the active day-to-day sense of Tony Blair. ~ Peter Mandelson
Active Communication quotes by Peter Mandelson
Attending church does not necessarily mean living the principles taught in those meeting. You can be active in a church but inactive in its gospel. ~ Stephen R. Covey
Active Communication quotes by Stephen R. Covey
Communications without intelligence is noise. Intelligence without communications is irrelevant. ~ Alfred M. Gray
Active Communication quotes by Alfred M. Gray
Communications and commerce are global; investment is mobile; technology is almost magical; and ambition for a better life is now universal. We earn our livelihood in peaceful competition with people all across the earth. Profound and powerful forces are shaking and remaking our world, and the urgent question of our time is whether we can make change our friend and not our enemy. ~ William J. Clinton
Active Communication quotes by William J. Clinton
Evil communication corrupts good manners. I hope to live to hear that good communication corrects bad manners. ~ Benjamin Banneker
Active Communication quotes by Benjamin Banneker
I'm interested in the theater because I'm interested in communication with audiences. Otherwise I would be in concert music. ~ Stephen Sondheim
Active Communication quotes by Stephen Sondheim
Strong families cultivate an attribute of effective communication. They talk out their problems, make plans together, and cooperate toward common objectives. ~ Ezra Taft Benson
Active Communication quotes by Ezra Taft Benson
Leonora is the grownups' version of Cinderella. She doesn't take crap from any ugly stepsisters. She doesn't sit indoors waiting to be rescued by prince charming. Oh, no, she rescues prince charming, Florestan, who's locked up in a dungeon by his archenemy, Pizarro. Cinderella was fun when we were little girls, played with dolls and believed in passive fairytales. Now that we're grown women who play with toys, it's only fit to believe in active fairytales. ~ Luella Christie
Active Communication quotes by Luella Christie
To make our communications more effective, we need to shift our thinking from "What information do I need to convey?" to "What questions do I want my audience to ask? ~ Chip Heath
Active Communication quotes by Chip Heath
In a sense, knowledge shrinks as wisdom grows, for details are swallowed up in principles. The details for knowledge which are important, will be picked up ad hoc in each avocation of life, but the habit of the active utilization of well-understood principles is the final possession of WISDOM. ~ Alfred North Whitehead
Active Communication quotes by Alfred North Whitehead
Sometimes nothing is the best thing to say and often the best thing to do. ~ Michael Thomas Sunnarborg
Active Communication quotes by Michael Thomas Sunnarborg

It is impossible that wood, grass, and straw disappear in such a way as to not exist any more, but they [viz., sinners] will disappear insofar as they are grass and so on. Indeed, this fire of the corrective punishment is not active against the substance, but against the habits and qualities. For this fire consumes, not creatures, but certain conditions and certain habits. (Didymus, Comm. In Ps. 20-21 col. 21.15) ~ Didymus The Blind
Active Communication quotes by Didymus The Blind
Where else, but from the industrialized world, did the suicide hijackers learn that the huge explosions and death above a city skyline are a peculiar and effective form of communication? They have mastered the language. ~ Chris Hedges
Active Communication quotes by Chris Hedges
A communication highway without content is inconceivable. ~ Hubert Burda
Active Communication quotes by Hubert Burda
It doesn't matter if you can't get a cell phone signal or Wi-Fi where you are. You are always connected to Source. ~ Neale Donald Walsch
Active Communication quotes by Neale Donald Walsch
We emphasize that such a form of communication is not absent in man, however evanescent a naturally given object may be for him, split as it is in its submission to symbols. ~ Jacques Lacan
Active Communication quotes by Jacques Lacan
A man estimable for his learning, amiable for his life, and venerable for his piety. Arbuthnot was a man of great comprehension, skilful in his profession, versed in the sciences, acquainted with ancient literature, and able to animate his mass of knowledge by a bright and active imagination; a scholar with great brilliance of wit; a wit who, in the crowd of life, retained and discovered a noble ardour of religious zeal. ~ Samuel Johnson
Active Communication quotes by Samuel Johnson
We may repeatedly try to get our need for sex or our need for communication met by our partner. If our attempts are met with rejection over and over again, we may eventually stop asking. We tend to give up rather than keep setting ourselves up for regular rejection. ~ Cathy Burnham Martin
Active Communication quotes by Cathy Burnham Martin
And none of this necessarily has any bearing on the issue of the existence or non-existence of a God. What I'm saying is that the thought of the man and the way this thinking-feeling can reach an extreme degree of incommunicability - that, without sophism or paradox, is at the same time, for that man, the point of greatest communication. He communicates with himself. ~ Clarice Lispector
Active Communication quotes by Clarice Lispector
The undoubted sign of a society well under control or in decline is that language has ceased to be a means of communication and has become instead a shield for those who master it. ~ John Ralston Saul
Active Communication quotes by John Ralston Saul
Music is about communication ... it isn't just something that maybe physically sounds good or orally sounds interesting; it's something far, far deeper than that. ~ Evelyn Glennie
