And I'll admit - I thought it might be best if we kept it all to the page, passed that notebook back and forth until we were ninety. But clearly that wasn't meant to be. And who am I to blow against the wind? ~ David Levithan
Ziva David Best quotes by David Levithan
Being on stage was all about the palpable energy of a rapt audience hopefully buying into a life onstage. The immediate connection with the audience was the best part for me. The camera is not as fun, but your work is preserved forever. There's immortality to it. ~ David Walton
Ziva David Best quotes by David Walton
When I ask, "What are you afraid of?" I'm asking, "What is it that immobilizes you? What is stealing your joy and destroying your hope? What is robbing you of sleep, night after night? What keeps you from living by faith and being a risk taker? What keeps you from giving your life wholly to a loving God who wants nothing but the best for you? ~ David Jeremiah
Ziva David Best quotes by David Jeremiah
We always make the best decision we can based upon what we believe in that moment. When I was growing up, my father and I experienced a lot of tension with each other for many years. He had bipolar disorder and it was very difficult for him. As I got older and went through my transformation of consciousness and really forgave him - and forgave myself and forgave the world - my father started showing up in my awareness as an angel. He got happier and happier and our relationship began to improve. People would say, "Your dad
has really changed a lot," and I would say, "My mind has really changed." My father was just reflecting that back. In fact, he came to me one day and said, "David, I'm sorry. I was not a very good father. I didn't do the things that a good father should do."
I replied, "Nonsense! I don't believe that for one instant. You did the best you could and I did the best I could. You didn't let me down and I didn't let you down. We're not going to buy into that guilt trip anymore."
He lit up when I said this. His whole demeanor changed and he instantly reflected love back to me. That simple exchange completely rearranged our view of everything that had taken place during those early years. None of it mattered anymore. We had been mistaken about many things because we couldn't perceive truly while we were going through our time together. ~ David Hoffmeister
Ziva David Best quotes by David Hoffmeister
Wheelchair-accessible front ramp, take a bit of getting used to, and some like the engineer never do get comfortable with them and use the less garish auditory side-doors; and the abundant sulcus-fissures and gyrus-bulges of the slick latex roof make rain-drainage complex and footing chancy at best, so there's not a whole lot of recreational strolling up here, although a kind of safety-balcony of skull-colored polybutylene resin, which curves around the midbrain from the inferior frontal sulcus to the parietooccipital sulcus - a halo-ish ring at the level of like eaves, demanded by the Cambridge Fire Dept. over the heated pro-mimetic protests of topological Rickeyites over in the Architecture Dept. (which the M.I.T. administration, trying to placate Rickeyites and C.F.D. Fire Marshal both, had had the pre-molded resin injected with dyes to render it the distinctively icky brown-shot off-white of living skull, so that the balcony resembles at once corporeal bone and ~ David Foster Wallace

If they ever create an award for best conversationalist, let me know and I'll apply. Until then, have a sip from my bottle of I-Don't-Give-A-Crap and keep on walking.
Laney ~ David Estes
Ziva David Best quotes by David Estes
Elevating the status of women is our best path to peace, justice, and prosperity on a global scale. ~ David Horsey
Ziva David Best quotes by David Horsey
David Fincher is one of the best directors I know, so I'm really curious to see it. Really curious, and I want to hear Daniel have the Swedish accent. ~ Michael Nyqvist
Ziva David Best quotes by Michael Nyqvist
It may be that the best time for Otherness has already passed. Clearly part of the basis for this renaissance has been wealth, especially the unprecedented comfort enjoyed by the vast majority of Westerners since World War II, in which very few of us can even conceive of starving ~ David Brin
Ziva David Best quotes by David Brin
Debating the best way to do something we shouldn't be doing in the first place is a sure way to end up in the wrong place. ~ David Suzuki
Ziva David Best quotes by David Suzuki
Historically, precollege education has focused on educating for the known, the tried and true, the established canon. This made very good sense in the many periods and places where most children's lives were likely to be more or less like their parents' lives. However, wagering that tomorrow will be pretty much like yesterday does not seem to be a very good bet today. Perhaps we need a different vision of education, a vision that foregrounds educating for the unknown as much as for the known. Perhaps we need a vision of education that's more "future wise," reflecting our best guesses about what's most likely to happen and foregrounding flexible knowledge likely to inform whatever does happen. ~ David Perkins
Ziva David Best quotes by David Perkins
Waterworld was the best time of my life. It was physically demanding, but it was fun. I mean, you're in Hawaii for nine months shooting on the water every day. ~ David R. Ellis
Ziva David Best quotes by David R. Ellis
Lucy absently thanked him and at once began to consider which among her gowns would be best suited for a midnight adventure to a gothic castle. ~ David Liss
Ziva David Best quotes by David Liss
I did not wish to take a cabin passage, but rather to go before the mast and on the deck of the world, for there I could best see the moonlight amid the mountains. I do not wish to go below now. ~ Henry David Thoreau
Ziva David Best quotes by Henry David Thoreau
The best means to an end are not always those that appear most direct. ~ David Brin
Ziva David Best quotes by David Brin
I was the best man at my younger brother's wedding and at the time part of my roast to him was I appreciated that he's done the only profession that makes me look good, running a used car dealership. ~ David Plouffe
Ziva David Best quotes by David Plouffe
Kate Moss is the best thing since Jean Shrimpton, really. ~ David Bailey
Ziva David Best quotes by David Bailey
To the average mathematician who merely wants to know his work is securely based, the most appealing choice is to avoid difficulties by means of Hilbert's program. Here one regards mathematics as a formal game and one is only concerned with the question of consistency ... The Realist position is probably the one which most mathematicians would prefer to take. It is not until he becomes aware of some of the difficulties in set theory that he would even begin to question it. If these difficulties particularly upset him, he will rush to the shelter of Formalism, while his normal position will be somewhere between the two, trying to enjoy the best of two worlds. ~ Paul Cohen
Ziva David Best quotes by Paul Cohen
That government is best that governs not at all. ~ Henry David Thoreau
Ziva David Best quotes by Henry David Thoreau
I've learned a simple principle: all I have to do is be the best 'me' that I can be. One day when I read the Scripture about David, that he fulfilled his purpose for his generation. I knew God spoke to me. ~ Joel Osteen
Ziva David Best quotes by Joel Osteen
This spending of the best part of one's life earning money in order to enjoy a questionable liberty during the least valuable part of it reminds me of the Englishman who went to India to make a fortune first, in order that he might return to England and live the life of a poet. ~ Henry David Thoreau
Ziva David Best quotes by Henry David Thoreau
In Debt, the anthropologist David Graeber tells the story of Tei Reinga, a Maori villager and "notorious glutton" who used to wander up and down the New Zealand coast, badgering the local fishermen by asking for the best portions of their catch. Since it's impolite in Maori culture (as in many cultures) to refuse a direct request for food, the fishermen would oblige - but with ever-increasing reluctance. And so as Reinga continued to ask for food, their resentment grew until "one day, people decided enough was enough and killed him."
This story is extreme, to say the least, but it illustrates how norm-following and norm-enforcement can be a very high-stakes game. Reinga flouted an important norm (against freeloading) and eventually paid dearly for it. But just as tellingly, the fishermen who put him to death felt so duty-bound by a different norm (the norm of food-sharing) that they followed it even to the point of building up murderous resentment. "Couldn't you just have said no to Reinga's requests?!" we want to shout at the villagers. ~ Kevin Simler
Ziva David Best quotes by Kevin Simler
And I emerge so icky and befouled and cross-eyed from the guy's right hook that I blow what should have been a very legitimate shot at the title in the Men's Best Legs Contest, in which I end up placing third but am told later I would have won the whole thing except for the scowl, swollen and strabismic right eye, and askew swimcap that formed a contextual backdrop too downright goofy to let the full force of my gams' shapeliness come through to the judges. ~ David Foster Wallace
Ziva David Best quotes by David Foster Wallace
If we think back through our own lives, the subjects that you liked best in school almost certainly were taught by the teachers you liked best. And the teacher you liked best was the teacher who cared about the subject she taught. ~ David McCullough
Ziva David Best quotes by David McCullough
Some other people are very lucky and always get in to the very best teams at the very best times and therefore go out and score lots of championship points and be in with a chance of the championship. ~ David Leslie
Ziva David Best quotes by David Leslie
Keep working. Keep trying. Keep believing. You still might not make it, but at least you gave it your best shot. If you don't have calluses on your soul, this isn't for you. Take up knitting instead. ~ David Eddings
Ziva David Best quotes by David Eddings
Amity Gaige has written a flawless book. It does not contain a single false note. Playful and inventive, SCHRODER movingly depicts the ways we confound our own hearts
how even with the best intentions, we fail to love those closest to us as well as we wish we could. Eric Schroder should take his place among the most charismatic and memorable characters in contemporary fiction, and Amity Gaige her place among the most talented and impressive writers working today. ~ David Bezmozgis
Ziva David Best quotes by David Bezmozgis
Genre expectations can kill creativity. If you do something different, it will get hated. The best filmmakers can do everything on the approval list and knock it out of the park. For me, I have a hard time being creative when I have to color in between the lines. ~ David Ayer
Ziva David Best quotes by David Ayer
Personal ministry is not about always knowing what to say. It is not about fixing everything in sight that is broken. Personal ministry is about connecting people with Christ so that they are able to think as he would have them think, desire what he says is best, and do what he calls them to do even if their circumstances never get "fixed." It involves exposing hurt, lost, and confused people to God's glory, so that they give up their pursuit of their own glory and live for his. ~ Paul David Tripp
Ziva David Best quotes by Paul David Tripp
I would not say he (David Ginola) is the best left-winger in the Premiership, but there are none better. ~ Ron Atkinson
Ziva David Best quotes by Ron Atkinson
For those who reject it, the Victorian experience is something to feel embarrassed about, to apologise for, to escape from, and never to repeat. But to those who remain enthralled, it is a fabulous story of oustanding success and splendid achievement, by comparison with which Britain's 20th century records seems at best unimpressive, and often distinctly lacklustre. ~ David Cannadine
