The vast majority of funding in support of women appears to have been directed toward the training of women as participants in political, civil, and economic processes. This approach to women's empowerment is based on two assumptions. The first is that Iraqi women need training to bring them into the public sphere ... The second is that women, if equipped with appropriate skills, merely need encouragement to participate and flourish in public life. Such an approach does not consider the social and political context in which women operate and that undoubtedly affects their ability to participate. ~ Nadje Al-Ali
Womens Empowerment quotes by Nadje Al-Ali
Women's empowerment helps raise economic productivity and reduce infant mortality. It contributes to improved health and nutrition. It increases the chances of education for the next generation. ~ Nicholas D. Kristof
Womens Empowerment quotes by Nicholas D. Kristof
Human development, not secularization, is what's key to women's empowerment in the transforming Middle East. ~ Dalia Mogahed
Womens Empowerment quotes by Dalia Mogahed
Our generation of women is clearing the path for our daughters, granddaughters, women and girls down the line, to be safe to be the woman or girl they are. ~ Tabby Biddle
Womens Empowerment quotes by Tabby Biddle
When Muslim radicals and fundamentalists look at the West, they see only the openness that makes us, in their eyes, decadent and promiscuous. They see only the openness that has produced Britney Spears and Janet Jackson. They do not see, and do not want to see, the openness - the freedom of thought and inquiry - that has made us powerful, the openness that has produced Bill Gates and Sally Ride. They deliberately define it all as decadence. Because if openness, women's empowerment, and freedom of thought and inquiry are the real sources of the West's economic strength, then the Arab-Muslim world would have to change. And the fundamentalists and extremists do not want to change. ~ Thomas L. Friedman
Womens Empowerment quotes by Thomas L. Friedman
I've been a staunch advocate of women's empowerment, and I've worked hard throughout my career to advance the cause. It is heartening to see that gender equality is really becoming more of a reality. There is still much more to be done, and I'm confident that, by working together, we can empower women worldwide. ~ Madhuri Dixit
Womens Empowerment quotes by Madhuri Dixit
Make no excuses for your authority nor for your fierce grace. Make no apologies for your boundaries nor for your decision to be vulnerable. ~ C. JoyBell C.
Womens Empowerment quotes by C. JoyBell C.
Climate change, demographics, water, food, energy, global health, women's empowerment - these issues are all intertwined. We cannot look at one strand in isolation. Instead, we must examine how these strands are woven together. ~ Ban Ki-moon
Womens Empowerment quotes by Ban Ki-moon
To be a woman, no matter your background, is to have to fight for your territory in a way that men don't have to. ~ Jane Caro
Womens Empowerment quotes by Jane Caro
I am passionate about women's empowerment and women's ways. ~ Stephanie Moore
Womens Empowerment quotes by Stephanie Moore
These are burning times. And they call for Burning Women. Women embodied in their passion. Woman feeling in their bodies. Creative women. Courageous women. Women who have learned to run on a different power source to the world which is falling into flames around her. She has already disentangled herself from the wreckage of the patriarchal culture, so she will not be dazed, confused and disorientated by the systemic changes happening around her. Centred within herself, receptive to the Earth beyond her, she knows how to cultivate from the ashes, she knows how to find the embers to fuel the new fire.

Burning Women arise.
Our time is now.
Our time has come. ~ Lucy H. Pearce
Womens Empowerment quotes by Lucy H. Pearce
On pillow after pillow lies
The wild white hair and staring eyes;
Jaws stand open; necks are stretched
With every tendon sharply sketched;
A bearded mouth talks silently
To someone no one else can see.

Sixty years ago they smiled
At lover, husband, first-born child.

Smiles are for youth. For old age come
Death's terror and delirium.

- Heads in the Women's Ward ~ Philip Larkin
Womens Empowerment quotes by Philip Larkin
Initially, class privilege was not discussed by white women in the women's movement. They wanted to project an image of themselves as victims and that could not be done by drawing attention to their class. In fact, the contemporary women's movement was extremely class bound. As a group, white participants did not denounce capitalism. They chose to define liberation using the terms of white capitalist patriarchy, equating liberation with gaining economic status and money power. Like all good capitalists, they proclaimed work as the key to liberation. This emphasis on work was yet another indication of the extent to which the white female liberationists' perception of reality was totally narcissistic, classist, and racist. Implicit in the assertion that work was the key to women's liberation was a refusal to acknowledge the reality that, for masses of American working class women, working for pay neither liberated them from sexist oppression nor allowed them to gain any measure of economic independence. ~ Bell Hooks
Womens Empowerment quotes by Bell Hooks
The last decade has seen a powerful counterassault on women's rights, a backlash, an attempt to retract the handful of small and hard-won victories that the feminist movement did manage to win for women. This counterassault is largely insidious: in a kind of pop-culture version of the Big Lie, it stands the truth boldly on its head and proclaims that the very steps that have elevated women's position have actually led to their downfall. ~ Susan Faludi
Womens Empowerment quotes by Susan Faludi
In this world, women held a position somewhere between horses and cows. Aristocratic women were slightly better off. ~ Lina J. Potter
Womens Empowerment quotes by Lina J. Potter
My best successes came on the heels of failures. ~ Barbara Corcoran
Womens Empowerment quotes by Barbara Corcoran
New Age values are conscious evolution, a non-sectarian society, a non-military culture, global sharing, healing the environment, sustainable economies, self-determination, social justice, economic empowerment of the poor, love, compassion in action, going beyond religious fundamentalism, going beyond nationalism-extreme nationalism, culture. ~ Deepak Chopra
Womens Empowerment quotes by Deepak Chopra
Men aren't actively writing women to oppress them, men are writing what they know. I say you can be much better as a woman for women's rights if you just go up there and write your own material. ~ Rachel Bloom
Womens Empowerment quotes by Rachel Bloom
What we achieve inwardly will change outer reality. ~ Plutarch
Womens Empowerment quotes by Plutarch
society's been drugging its women for years ~ Elizabeth Strout
Womens Empowerment quotes by Elizabeth Strout
This myth of meritocracy and equal opportunities encourages individualism over collective action, because when people believe this myth, they obviously see no need for protest movements around particular classes or identities, such as the Women's Movement or the Civil Rights workplace, education or in their personal lives, they are more likely to blame themselves, rather than sexism, racism, class oppression or homophobia; concepts which in current society are often seen as out of date. This type of blame even applies to experiences of actual violence or harassment with too many people believing that it is their fault if they are sexually harassed in the workplace or at school, abused by a partner or are a victim of sexual violence. Our society encourages this view, and in turn, that keeps people isolated and alone, rather than providing them the opportunity to get involved in collective struggles against such common experiences. ~ Finn Mackay
Womens Empowerment quotes by Finn Mackay
Criticism of the traditional male role is often mistaken for criticism of men themselves. When this happens, men understandably become defensive, push away any discussion of gender, and are unable to hear women's appeals for change. Any gender-role discussion quickly becomes a women's problem, and the issue is repressed by men who fell unjustly accused, and by women who are afraid of men's disapproval and anger. ~ Peggy Natiello
Womens Empowerment quotes by Peggy Natiello
In my childhood I use to think that those people who don't know how to
respect women and can't control their sexual temptation are dickheads
but now I realise that I was wrong ,those people who can't respect
womens and harm them are actually Anal one. And my thinking mkes me
insane then let it be because this way or that way I will accept your
hatred rather than stand with you and disrespect a women. ~ Jitendra Bhardwaj
Womens Empowerment quotes by Jitendra Bhardwaj
The official line is that, after the war, women couldn't wait to leave the offices and assembly lines and government agencies. But the real story was that the economy couldn't have men coming home without women going home, not unless it wanted a lot of unemployed vets. So the problem became unemployed women. "How you gonna keep us down on the farm after we've seen the world,"' she ad-libs to the old World War I tune. 'Enter the women's magazines, and cookbook publishers, and all these advertising agencies carrying on about the scourge of germs in the toilet bowl, and scuffs on the kitchen floor, and, my favorite, house B.O. Enter chicken hash that takes two and a half hours to prepare. I can just hear them sitting around the conference tables. 'That'll keep the gals out of trouble. ~ Ellen Feldman
Womens Empowerment quotes by Ellen Feldman
I didn't have any Indigenous friends until I was in my 30s, and I'll always remember and be inspired by the remarkable friendship I had with Connie Bush, an outstanding Indigenous leader from Groot Eylandt on who was on the National Women's Advisory Council with me. ~ Quentin Bryce
Womens Empowerment quotes by Quentin Bryce

Womens Empowerment quotes by Ifeanyi Enoch Onuoha
The gift of singleness is more a vocation than an empowerment, although to be sure God is faithful in supporting those He calls. ~ John R.W. Stott
Womens Empowerment quotes by John R.W. Stott
Knowing a deep thing well, which is what science asks of its practitioners, is an empowerment that is very profound. It's a liberation. ~ Ann Druyan
Womens Empowerment quotes by Ann Druyan
A lot of performers, if they go to bed with a woman on the road, they think of her as a slut. As a person and a man, what does that make them then? Lowlife or high living, you give as good as you get, and I don't think women's sex lives have a thing to do with the kinds of human beings they are. ~ Waylon Jennings
Womens Empowerment quotes by Waylon Jennings
The need to prove who you are will vanish once you know who you are. ~ Danielle Pierre
Womens Empowerment quotes by Danielle Pierre
As we move into the twenty-first century, women's status in society will become the standard by which to measure our progress toward civility and peace. ~ Mahnaz Afkhami
Womens Empowerment quotes by Mahnaz Afkhami
We have to take up the cross that was left by our Pioneers; they got us as far as they could. It is now our time to take advantage of the tools that were left for us and open the doors of our opportunities as women. We have to lead by example for our little girls and young ladies who will soon take up the torch. We have to show them by our actions that women's opportunities are never-ending. Their assumptions must not take us off-course because our minds are too sharp and powerful to dwell on their insecurities, and we do not have time to stray off track. ~ Charlena E. Jackson
Womens Empowerment quotes by Charlena E. Jackson
At the very same time that we witnessed the explosion of white celebrity moms, and the outpouring of advice to a surveillance of middle-class mothers, the welfare mother, trapped in a "cycle of dependency," became ubiquitous in our media landscape, and she came to represent everything wrong with America. She appeared not in the glossy pages of the women's magazines but rather as the subject of news stories about the "crisis" in the American family and the newly declared "war" on welfare mothers. Whatever ailed America--drugs, crime, loss of productivity--was supposedly her fault. She was portrayed as thumbing her nose at intensive mothering. Even worse, she was depicted as bringing her kids into the realm of market values, as putting a price on their heads, by allegedly calculating how much each additional child was worth and then getting pregnant to cash in on them. For middle-class white women in the media, by contrast, their kids were priceless, these media depictions reinforced the divisions between "us" (minivan moms) and "them" (welfare mothers, working-class mothers, teenage mothers), and did so especially along the lines of race. For example, one of the most common sentences used to characterize the welfare mother was, "Tanya, who has_____ children by ______ different men" (you fill in the blanks). Like zoo animals, their lives were reduced to the numbers of successful impregnations by multiple partners. So it's interesting to note that someone like Christie Brinkley, ~ Susan J. Douglas
Womens Empowerment quotes by Susan J. Douglas

Womens Empowerment quotes by Martha Plimpton
There are some die-hard male chauvinist pigs and there are some Neanderthal women who are threatened by equality - but the great majority, polls say 65% to 75% of women of America, of all ages, absolutely identify with the complete agenda of the women's movement: equal opportunity for jobs, education, professional training, the right to control your own body - your own reproductive process, freedom of choice, child care-the whole agenda. ~ Betty Friedan

I, Prayer: A Poem

I, Prayer, know no hour. No season, no day, no month nor year.
No boundary, no barrier or limitation–no blockade hinders Me.
There is no border or wall I cannot breach.
I move inexorably forward; distance holds Me not.
I span the cosmos in the twinkling of an eye.
I knowest it all.
I am the most powerful force in the Universe.
Who then is My equal?
Canst thou draw out leviathan with a hook?
None is so fierce that dare stir him up.
Surely, I may'st with but a Word.
Who then is able to stand before Me?
I am the wind, the earth, the metal.
I am the very empyrean vault of Heaven Herself.
I span the known and the unknown beyond
Eternity's farthest of edges.
And whatsoever under Her wings is Mine.
I am a gentle stream, a fiery wrath
penetrating; wearing down mountains
–the hardest and softest of substances.
I am a trickling brook to fools of want
lost in the deserts of their own desires.
I am a Niagara to those who drink in well.
I seep through cracks. I inundate.
I level forests kindleth unto a single burning bush.
My hand moves the Universe by the mind of a child.
I withhold treasures solid from the secret stores
to they who would wrench at nothing.
I do not sleep or eat, feel not fatigue, nor hunger.
I do not feel the cold, nor rain or wind.
I transcend the heat of the summer's day.

Learning Reiki is one of the most liberating and empowering things you will ever do for yourself. ~ Sarah Parker Thomas
Womens Empowerment quotes by Sarah Parker Thomas
To put a woman on the ticket would challenge the loyalty of women everywhere to their sex, because it would be made to seem that the defeat of the ticket meant the defeat for a hundred years of women's chance to be truly equal with men in politics. ~ Clare Boothe Luce
Womens Empowerment quotes by Clare Boothe Luce
As we discard a limited mind and a life of limitation to step into the grandness of vastness, we realize infinity itself to be the Guru and all that we do as grace. As we traverse through consciousness that is the Guru, we become the Guru and each thought of ours is perfect in the now, as scriptures. Consciousness is the Guru, the wisdom. ~ Nandhiji
