acquires a great energy for work.
War is cut short by a word,
and a word heals the wounds,
and there's a word that changes
poison into butter
and honey.
Let a word mature inside yourself.

Come and understand the kind of word
that reduces money and riches to dust.

and when not to speak at all.
A single word turns the universe of hell
into eight paradises.

by what you already know. Be watchful.

Yunus, say one last thing
about the power of words –

divides me from God. ~ Yunus Emre

Speech was given to the ordinary sort or men, whereby to communicate their mind; but to wise men, whereby to conceal it. ~ Robert South
Wise Speech quotes by Robert South
The Buddha's criteria for Wise Speech include - in addition to the obvious expectation that speech be truthful - that it be timely, gentle, motivated by kindness, and helpful. ~ Sylvia Boorstein
Wise Speech quotes by Sylvia Boorstein
The wise ones fashioned speech with their thought, sifting it as grain is sifted through a sieve. ~ Buddha
Wise Speech quotes by Buddha
These Norsemen are excellent persons in the main, with good sense, steadiness, wise speech, and prompt action. But they have a singular turn for homicide; their chief end of man is to murder or to be murdered; ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
Wise Speech quotes by Ralph Waldo Emerson
Wise men will apply their remedies to vices, not to names; to the causes of evil which are permanent, not to occasional organs by which they act, and the transitory modes in which they appear. ~ Edmund Burke
Wise Speech quotes by Edmund Burke
The initial small step is simple: Rather than making a sweeping determination to tackle the Great Books (all of them), decide to begin on one of the reading lists in Part II. As you read each book, you'll follow the pattern of the trivium. First you'll try to understand the book's basic structure and argument; next, you'll evaluate the book's assertions; finally, you'll form an opinion about the book's ideas. You'll have to exercise these three skills of reading - understanding, analysis, and evaluation - differently for each kind of book. ~ Susan Wise Bauer
Wise Speech quotes by Susan Wise Bauer
It is hard to befool a fool who has already been fooled so many times ~ Munia Khan
Wise Speech quotes by Munia Khan
A wise skepticism is the first attribute of a good critic. ~ James Russell Lowell
Wise Speech quotes by James Russell Lowell
Don't live life, without an enthusiasm of existence. ~ Lailah Gifty Akita
Wise Speech quotes by Lailah Gifty Akita
Aye, mate, do not expect speech to return so quickly. It takes time. And patience. And practice.

The Enemy ~ Jeffrey Kosh
Wise Speech quotes by Jeffrey Kosh
The proper study of a wise man is not how to die but how to live. ~ Baruch Spinoza
Wise Speech quotes by Baruch Spinoza
I was wise enough to never grow up while fooling most people into believing I had. ~ Margaret Mead
Wise Speech quotes by Margaret Mead
We cannot force people to be intelligent, ethical or wise. ~ Wayne Gerard Trotman
Wise Speech quotes by Wayne Gerard Trotman
A tree's nature does not change because the wind blew off a few of its leaves. ~ Matshona Dhliwayo
Wise Speech quotes by Matshona Dhliwayo
To write is to make oneself the echo of what cannot cease speaking - and since it cannot, in order to become its echo I have, in a way, to silence it. I bring to this incessant speech the decisiveness, the authority of my own silence. ~ Maurice Blanchot
Wise Speech quotes by Maurice Blanchot
People have come to me over the years and said to me: 'I admire the culture of Starbucks. Can you come give a speech and help us turn our culture around?' I wish it were that easy. Turning a culture around is very difficult to do because it's based on a series of many, many decisions, and the organization is framed by those decisions. ~ Howard Schultz
Wise Speech quotes by Howard Schultz
When we ask God to leave, He does so. And in the leaving, He takes everything with Him that is of Him. Consequently, that means that we invite in everything that is not of Him. And we might be wise to consider the nature of that invitation and if we really want to extend it. ~ Craig D. Lounsbrough
Wise Speech quotes by Craig D. Lounsbrough
Let go of rousing speech
and identification with thoughts
Until your end
you will never be jaded ~ Lao-Tzu
Wise Speech quotes by Lao-Tzu
The early bird is wiser than the early worm. ~ Matshona Dhliwayo
Wise Speech quotes by Matshona Dhliwayo
A good talker is sensitive to expression, to tone and color and inflection in human speech. Because he himself is articulate, he can help others to articulate their half-formulated feelings. His mind fills in the gaps, and he becomes, in Socrates' words, a kind of midwife for ideas that are struggling to be born. ~ Sydney J. Harris
Wise Speech quotes by Sydney J. Harris
We are a sacred-living soul. ~ Lailah Gifty Akita
Wise Speech quotes by Lailah Gifty Akita
We are so proud of our guarantees of freedom in thought and speech and worship, that, unconsciously, we are guilty of one of the greatest errors that ignorance can make - we assume our standard of values is shared by all other humans in the world. ~ Dwight D. Eisenhower
Wise Speech quotes by Dwight D. Eisenhower
Whoever has the courage to walk in the dark, share experience the dawn of light in a new day. ~ Lailah Gifty Akita
Wise Speech quotes by Lailah Gifty Akita
Imagine waking up in the middle of a maze. The walls are too high to climb and the floor is too tough to dig through. You have no idea how you got there, or which way is out. No one answers when you scream, and you're burdened by a sense of impending loss. You don't know what it is that you're afraid of losing, but the feeling is inescapable. ~ A.R. Wise
Wise Speech quotes by A.R. Wise
The fool who knows his folly
Becomes wise by that fact.
But the fool who thinks he's wise -
He's called 'a fool' indeed! ~ Anonymous
Wise Speech quotes by Anonymous
The beauty of souls is like the beauty of colours. ~ Lailah Gifty Akita
Wise Speech quotes by Lailah Gifty Akita
Earth, withal, is a Body, like our own, with its network of Points, dispos'd along its Meridians, - much as our medicine in China has identified, upon the Human body, a like set of Lines invisible, upon which, bead wise, are strung Points, where the Flow of Chee may be beneficially strengthen'd by insertions of Gold Needles. ~ Thomas Pynchon
Wise Speech quotes by Thomas Pynchon
I know O LORD, that a man's way is not in himself. That is not in a man who walks to direct his steps." Jeremiah 10:23 ~ Lailah Gifty Akita
Wise Speech quotes by Lailah Gifty Akita
Do not test out your mind on the grounds that you are examining what seductive and impure thoughts look like, imagining that, as you do this, you will not be overcome by them. Even the wise have in this way been thrown into confusion and become infatuated. ~ Isaac Of Nineveh
Wise Speech quotes by Isaac Of Nineveh
The disadvantage of becoming wise is that you realize how foolish you've been. ~ Evan Esar
Wise Speech quotes by Evan Esar
Quick condemnation of all that is not ours, of views with which we disagree, of ideas that do not attract us, is the sign of a narrow mind, of an uncultivated intelligence. Bigotry is always ignorant, and the wise boy, who will become the wise man, tries to understand and to see the truth in ideas with which he does not agree. ~ Annie Besant
Wise Speech quotes by Annie Besant
Again, if any of that seems vague or ablated, it's because I am giving you a very stripped down, mission-specific version of just who and where I was, life-situation-wise, ~ David Foster Wallace
Wise Speech quotes by David Foster Wallace
I am not sure if the ladies understand the full value of the influence of absence, nor do I think it wise to teach it them, lest, like the Clelias and Mandanes of yore, they should resume the humour of sending their lovers to banishment. ~ Walter Scott
Wise Speech quotes by Walter Scott
Freedom of speech and freedom of action are meaningless without freedom to think. And there is no freedom of thought without doubt. ~ Bergen Evans
Wise Speech quotes by Bergen Evans
Do what Thou wilt! Yes, only do
What seemeth good to Thee;
Thou art so loving, wise, and true,
It must be best for me. ~ Frances Ridley Havergal
Wise Speech quotes by Frances Ridley Havergal
Fathers and mothers have lost the idea that the highest aspiration they might have for their children is for them to be wise
as priests, prophets or philosophers are wise. Specialized competence and success are all that they can imagine. ~ Allan Bloom
Wise Speech quotes by Allan Bloom
We need not take refuge in supernatural gods to explain our saints and sages and heroes and statesmen, as if to explain our disbelief that mere unaided human beings could be that good or wise. ~ Abraham H. Maslow
Wise Speech quotes by Abraham H. Maslow
RISE UP AND SALUTE THE SUN

Rise up!
RISE UP everyone!
Rise up and salute the sun!
Rise up and synergize as ONE.
And division there shall be none.
Yes!
And division there shall be none!

Wise up!
Wise up and salute the sun!
So what is right will always be won -
And so what is wrong will be never be
done.
Yes!
So what is wrong will never be done,
And justice will always be won!

Rise up!
Wise up and salute the sun!
Because what is turning
Can never be undone,
And what is churning
Has already been spun.
Yes,
The lies are distorting the sum.
And they're quickly earning
The minds of our young.

Rise Up!
Wise up and vibrate knowledge and peace
Throughout the streets and
UNIVERSAL KINGDOM!
Spread light to replace all the hatred
And ignorance in the world -
With Truth and amplified WISDOM!

Rise up!
Rise up and salute the sun.
Get wise and join lights as ONE.
Because the journey has just begun.
Yes,
The REVOLUTION has just begun.

So wise up!
Wise up and free all your minds.
Rise up and stand up for all mankind!
Put on your gold crowns and SHINE!
Because the sun symbolizes what's lit inside.
Illumination frees us and gives us eyes.
It's what heals us and gives us life.
It's also the symbol of the Most High --
-- THE LIGHT ~ Suzy Kassem
Wise Speech quotes by Suzy Kassem
You think it - wise - to trust Hagrid with something as important as this?"
"I would trust Hagrid with my life," said Dumbledore. ~ J.K. Rowling
Wise Speech quotes by J.K. Rowling
You look back on films sometimes and if they have not been as all-out successful as you anticipated you try to find reasons why maybe it didn't come off for audiences as well as you would have liked. ~ Robert Wise
Wise Speech quotes by Robert Wise
I made a very concerted decision to go to drama school in the United States. But I did have the opportunity to go to Britain's Central School of Speech and Drama, and my dad and I had a few tense words about that. He wanted me to go to British drama school. ~ Kate Burton
Wise Speech quotes by Kate Burton
O Lord gives us strength to do your will. ~ Lailah Gifty Akita
Wise Speech quotes by Lailah Gifty Akita
Let the sunflowers of thy soul bloom in the sunshine. ~ Lailah Gifty Akita
Wise Speech quotes by Lailah Gifty Akita
All our language about the future ... is like a set of signposts pointing into a bright mist ... the New Testament image of the future hope of the whole cosmos, grounded in the resurrection of Jesus, gives as coherent a picture as we need or could have of the future that is promised to the whole world, a future in which, under the sovereign and wise rule of the creator God, decay and death will be done away with and a new creation born, to which the present one will stand as mother to child. ~ N. T. Wright
Wise Speech quotes by N. T. Wright
He watched groups of children in the play yard move their lips, raise and lower their teeth like white drawbridges, dance their tongues in the ritual mating of speech. ~ Stephen King
Wise Speech quotes by Stephen King
Tagore claims that the first time he experienced the thrill of poetry was when he encountered the children's rhyme 'Jal pare/pata nare' ('Rain falls / The leaf trembles) n Iswrchandra Vidyasagar's Bengali primer Barna Parichay (Introducing the Alphabet). There are at least two revealing things about this citation. The first is that, as Bengali scholars have remarked, Tagore's memory, and predilection, lead him to misquote and rewrite the lines. The actual rhyme is in sadhu bhasha, or 'high' Bengali: 'Jal paritechhe / pata naritechhe' ('Rain falleth / the leaf trembleth'). This is precisely the sort of diction that Tagore chose for the English Gitanjali, which, with its these and thous, has so tried our patience. Yet, as a Bengali poet, Tagore's instinct was to simplify, and to draw language closer to speech. The other reason the lines of the rhyme are noteworthy, especially with regard to Tagore, is – despite their deceptively logical progression – their non-consecutive character. 'Rain falls' and 'the leaf trembles' are two independent, stand-alone observations: they don't necessarily have to follow each other. It's a feature of poetry commented upon by William Empson in Some Versions of Pastoral: that it's a genre that can get away with seamlessly joining two lines which are linked, otherwise, tenuously. ~ Amit Chaudhuri
Wise Speech quotes by Amit Chaudhuri
Here's the thing, people: We have some serious problems. The lights are off. And it seems like that's affecting the water flow in part of town. So, no baths or showers, okay? But the situation is that we think Caine is short of food, which means he's not going to be able to hold out very long at the power plant."
"How long?" someone yelled.
Sam shook his head. "I don't know."
"Why can't you get him to leave?"
"Because I can't, that's why," Sam snapped, letting some of his anger show. "Because I'm not Superman, all right? Look, he's inside the plant. The walls are thick. He has guns, he has Jack, he has Drake, and he has his own powers. I can't get him out of there without getting some of our people killed. Anybody want to volunteer for that?"
Silence.
"Yeah, I thought so. I can't get you people to show up and pick melons, let alone throw down with Drake."
"That's your job," Zil said.
"Oh, I see," Sam said. The resentment he'd held in now came boiling to the surface. "It's my job to pick the fruit, and collect the trash, and ration the food, and catch Hunter, and stop Caine, and settle every stupid little fight, and make sure kids get a visit from the Tooth Fairy. What's your job, Zil? Oh, right: you spray hateful graffiti. Thanks for taking care of that, I don't know how we'd ever manage without you."
"Sam…," Astrid said, just loud enough for him to hear. A warning.
Too late. He was going to say what needed saying.
"And t ~ Michael Grant

An uniformity of weights and measures, arranged upon mathematical principles, would be a benefit to the whole commercial world, if it were wise enough to adopt such an expedient. ~ Jean-Baptiste Say
