To run with the wolf was to run in the shadows, the dark ray of life, survival and instinct. A fierceness that was both proud and lonely, a tearing, a howling, a hunger and thirst. Blessed are they who hunger and thirst. A strength that would die fighting, kicking, screaming, that wouldn't stop until the last breath had been wrung from its body. The will to take one's place in the world. To say 'I am here.' To say 'I am. ~ O.R. Melling
The Book Of Dreams quotes by O.R. Melling
Life is a journey through a foreign land. ~ O.R. Melling
The Book Of Dreams quotes by O.R. Melling
You can't really know what you are made of until you are tested. ~ O.R. Melling
The Book Of Dreams quotes by O.R. Melling
There is that lovely feeling of one reader telling another, 'You must read this.' I've always wanted to write a book like that, with the sense that you are contributing to the discourse in middle America, a discourse that begins at a book club in a living room, but then spreads. That is meaningful to me. ~ Abraham Verghese
The Book Of Dreams quotes by Abraham Verghese
I had seen that look before, on the faces of tourists visiting the Texas Book Depository in Dallas where Lee Harvey Oswald took the shots at JFK. I took that tour and met some conspiracy buffs, all of us standing at the gunman's window and looking down to the spot where the motorcade passed. It's right there below the window, an easy shot at a slow-moving car. No mystery, just a kid and a rifle and a tragedy. They came looking for dark and terrible revelations and instead found out something even more dark and terrible: that their lives were trite and boring. ~ David Wong
The Book Of Dreams quotes by David Wong
We are not bound by commandments but by loyalties, and we have more loyalties than can be covered by fiat. We have to weigh their conflicting values for ourselves, on this occasion and on that, once in this favor and once in that, in the natural day to day of our conduct. In a complex and many-sided culture, we have to develop our ethic in our own actions, now within one group and now within another. Perhaps this group or that may have a book of rules for its members, but there can be no book to balance for any one of us, once for all, the loyalties that bind him to a dozen groups. ~ Jacob Bronowski
The Book Of Dreams quotes by Jacob Bronowski
The Nephilim was something I'd known about since I was really young. If you're familiar with the first book of the Bible, Genesis, you see the sons of God seduce some of the women on the earth and they produce a race of people known as the Nephilim. According to legend they taught man about war, astrology, and magic. I'm fascinated by the idea, ~ Carl McCoy
The Book Of Dreams quotes by Carl McCoy
The health benefits, both mental and physical, of humor are well documented. A good laugh can diffuse tension, relieve stress, and release endorphins into your system, which act as a natural mood elevator. In Norman Cousin's book, Anatomy of an Illness, Cousin's describes the regimen he followed to overcome a serious debilitating disease he was suffering from. It included large doses of laughter and humor. Published in 1976, his book has been widely accepted by the medical community. ~ Cherie Carter-Scott
The Book Of Dreams quotes by Cherie Carter-Scott
There is a sort of busy worm, That will the fairest book deform. Their tasteless tooth will tear and taint The poet, patriot, sage or saint, Nor sparing wit nor learning. Now, if you'd know the reason why, The best of reasons I'll supply: 'Tis bread to the poor vermin. J. Doraston, quoted by W. Blades ~ Cornelia Funke
The Book Of Dreams quotes by Cornelia Funke
But in the book," I say, "the mockingbird is supposed to be a symbol of innocence. That's why it's a sin to kill one."
"Who says it's a symbol of innocence?" asks Mort.
"Teachers," I tell him. "Book reviewers, critics --"
"Wikipedia," Elena calls from behind the window display. ~ Paul Acampora
The Book Of Dreams quotes by Paul Acampora
I've heard of a guy in Chicago who advertises in the phone book under "Wizard",though that's probably a urban legend. ~ Benedict Jacka
The Book Of Dreams quotes by Benedict Jacka
My sense of what a book should be has changed so radically. I like to think for the better. ~ E.L. Doctorow
The Book Of Dreams quotes by E.L. Doctorow
O Day of days when we can read! The reader and the book, either without the other is naught. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
The Book Of Dreams quotes by Ralph Waldo Emerson
Writing a book is like rearing children
willpower has very little to do with it. If you have a little baby crying in the middle of the night, and if you depend only on willpower to get you out of bed to feed the baby, that baby will starve. You do it out of love. ~ Annie Dillard
The Book Of Dreams quotes by Annie Dillard
POEM – MY AMAZING
TRAVELS
[My composition in my book Travel Memoirs with Pictures]

My very first trip I still cannot believe
Was planned and executed with such great ease.
My father, an Inspector of Schools, was such a strict man,
He gave in to my wishes when I told him of the plan.

I got my first long vacation while working as a banker
One of my co-workers wanted a travelling partner.
She visited my father and discussed the matter
Arrangements were made without any flutter.

We travelled to New York, Toronto, London, and Germany,
In each of those places, there was somebody,
To guide and protect us and to take us wonderful places,
It was a dream come true at our young ages.

We even visited Holland, which was across the Border.
To drive across from Germany was quite in order.
Memories of great times continue to linger,
I thank God for an understanding father.

That trip in 1968 was the beginning of much more,
I visited many countries afterward I am still in awe.
Barbados, Tobago, St. Maarten, and Buffalo,
Cirencester in the United Kingdom, Miami, and Orlando.

I was accompanied by my husband on many trips.
Sisters, nieces, children, grandchildren, and friends, travelled with me a bit.
Puerto Rico, Los Angeles, New York, and Hialeah,
Curacao, Caracas, Margarita, Virginia, and Anguilla.

We sailed ~ Brenda Mohammed
The Book Of Dreams quotes by Brenda Mohammed
The Game

Today i want to play a game,
you'll win if you can guess my name,

I am the one who hide behind shadows,
Behind my smile i hide my deepest sorrows,

I am the one who wants to be loved,
But can't overcome the memories of once beloved,

I am the one who hear voices and see faces,
find a friend who love and actually cares,

I am the one who spent his life in illusion,
Believing that everything happens for a reason,

I am the one who is scared of happiness,
Because of that i never lived in fullness,

I am the one who lost the meaning of life,
There is no motivation which can thrive,

I am the one who failed a lot,
All the lessons i remember is what life taught,

I am the one people love his silence,
Ignoring the pain adoring his patience,

Look at me one more time and guess my name,
you'll win if you can guess my name, ~ Ratish Edwards
The Book Of Dreams quotes by Ratish Edwards
It would be a narrow conception of jurisprudence to confine the notion of 'laws' to what is found written on the statute books, and to disregard the gloss which life has written upon it. ~ Felix Frankfurter
The Book Of Dreams quotes by Felix Frankfurter
Books that recount ordeals are precious because an ordeal is what we most fear, and the stories that tell us how to survive them reassure us about what a human being is capable of, as we survive our own lives every day, our own mysterious journeys. ~ Ramona Koval
The Book Of Dreams quotes by Ramona Koval
I have always suffered from the feeling that it's better to read a good book than to write a poor one; and I've done so much mixed reading in my time that my mind is full of echoes and voices of better men. But this book I'm worrying about now really deserves to be written, I think, for it has a message of its own. ~ Christopher Morley
The Book Of Dreams quotes by Christopher Morley
Jeremy tried to be an interesting person. The trouble was that he was the kind of person who, having decided to be an interesting person, would first of all try to find a book called How to Be An Interesting Person and then see whether there were any courses available. ~ Terry Pratchett
The Book Of Dreams quotes by Terry Pratchett
the end of the book isn't the last page, it's the last day you think about what you read ~ Dave Campbell
The Book Of Dreams quotes by Dave Campbell
Too many memories of her were crammed inside of me, and as soon as one of them found the slightest opening, the rest would force their way out in an endless stream, an unstoppable flood. ~ Haruki Murakami
The Book Of Dreams quotes by Haruki Murakami
We also have to bear in mind that our own sense of what is plausible and implausible is severely limited by the fact that the modern world is dominated by an extremely narrow range of family arrangements. Looking in anthropology books on kinship and marriage is like opening a book on a huge variety of dead and dying languages, all victims of the inexorable homogenisation of the world that has been in progress since the dawn of civilisation. ~ Patricia Crone
The Book Of Dreams quotes by Patricia Crone
Have you ever had the experience of finding in a book some vague idea that's already occurred to you, some obscure image that comes back to you from the depths of your mind, or a perfect expression of your most subtle feelings? ~ Gustave Flaubert
The Book Of Dreams quotes by Gustave Flaubert
The term paradigm shift was introduced by Thomas Kuhn in his highly influential landmark book, The Structure of Scientific Revolutions. ~ Stephen R. Covey
The Book Of Dreams quotes by Stephen R. Covey
You're going to turn the next page, because you still have hope. You hope there's a little something more, and it's nothing personal. People do it at the end of every book. I think that's why publishers put in all those extra pages. So you have a chance to shuffle and flip through them while it sinks in. It's over. The trip is done.

You know it's over, but you're going to turn the page anyway. ~ Rory Harrison
The Book Of Dreams quotes by Rory Harrison
My mind went back to that picture in the obstetrics book. A cow standing in the middle of a gleaming floor while a sleek veterinary surgeon in a spotless parturition overall inserted his arm to a polite distance. He was relaxed and smiling, the farmer and his helpers were smiling, even the cow was smiling. There was no dirt or blood or sweat anywhere.
That man in the picture had just finished an excellent lunch and had moved next door to do a bit of calving just for the sheer pleasure of it, as a kind of dessert. He hadn't crawled shivering from his bed at two o'clock in the morning and bumped over twelve miles of frozen snow, staring sleepily ahead till the lonely farm showed in the headlights. He hadn't climbed half a mile of white fell-side to the doorless barn where his patient lay. ~ James Herriot
The Book Of Dreams quotes by James Herriot
Merlin: "Grown-ups have developed an unpleasant habit lately, I notice, of comforting themselves for their degradation by pretending that children are childish. I trust we are free of this?"
Arthur: "Everybody knows that children are more intelligent than their parents."
Merlin: "You and I know it, but the people who are going to read this book do not.
Our readers of that time ( ... ) have exactly three ideas in their magnificent noodles. The first is that the human species is superior to others. The second, that the twentieth century is superior to other centuries. And the third, that human adults of the twentieth century are superior to their young. ( ... ) ~ T.H. White
The Book Of Dreams quotes by T.H. White
Like all of my previous work - which I also hope is a bit hard to categorise - 'The Oopsatoreum' is an illustrated book, so a combination of words and pictures that tell a kind of story. ~ Shaun Tan
The Book Of Dreams quotes by Shaun Tan
I was once a journalist. And I think of myself as a journalist, and that's it. You tell the truth. I even wrote a book called 'The Truth'. ~ Terry Pratchett
The Book Of Dreams quotes by Terry Pratchett
Can I borrow your phone?"
There's no hesitation.
"No." I sigh through my nose.
"Look. I totally butchered the last call. I don't want Jonah not knowing how much I love him if I go and die tonight or something."
Karl leans back against the wood paneled wall.
"Then don't die."

Lyons, Heather (2013-11-03). A Matter of Truth (Fate Series Book 3) (p. 144). Cerulean Books. Kindle Edition. ~ Heather Lyons
The Book Of Dreams quotes by Heather Lyons
You have very accurately described the difficulty of presenting my books on film: many of my characters are alone most of the time, and when they do talk, what they say is mostly lies. That can make for a pretty confusing film. ~ Thomas Perry
The Book Of Dreams quotes by Thomas Perry
One lesson I learned from 'The Monstrumologist' was never to get too attached to your own characters. That's harder in practice than in theory. At the end of the third book - which coincided with the end of my contract - I was an emotional wreck. I mourned Will Henry and Warthrop. ~ Rick Yancey
The Book Of Dreams quotes by Rick Yancey
The whole process of getting a book published is just part of the process. The last of the process that I enjo ~ Victoria Chang
The Book Of Dreams quotes by Victoria Chang
I walked to his bedside table next. Infinite Mayhem. the ninth sequel to The Prince of Dawn, lay atop the table next to his reading lamp, the corner of page 138 turned down. He'd never made it to the end of the book. 'Spoiler alert: Mayhem survives,' I said out loud to him, just in case he could hear me. ~ John Green
The Book Of Dreams quotes by John Green
I sent the first half of the dissertation to Rudolf Bultmann [major figures of early 20th century biblical studies and a prominent voice in liberal Christianity] as a courtesy with an invitation to respond to any points in my analysis and critique if he wished. I was speechless when I received a long letter from Bultmann, who had diligently examined the details of my arguments. His letter became a featured part of the publication in 1964 by Westminster Press of Radical Obedience: The Ethics of Rudolf Bultmann: With a Response by Rudolf Bultmann.
That book, more than any other , launched my career as a serious theologian. But it also led to my reputation as a situation ethicist, ironically just about the time I was beginning to disavow situation ethics. ~ Thomas C. Oden
The Book Of Dreams quotes by Thomas C. Oden
Looking back through the last page or two, I see that I have made it appear as though my motives in writing were wholly public-spirited. I don't want to leave that as the final impression. All writers are vain, selfish, and lazy, and at the very bottom of their motives there lies a mystery. Writing a book is a horrible, exhausting struggle, like a long bout of some painful illness. One would never undertake such a thing if one were not driven on by some demon whom one can neither resist nor understand. For all one knows that demon is simply the same instinct that makes a baby squall for attention. And yet it is also true that one can write nothing readable unless one constantly struggles to efface one's own personality. Good prose is like a windowpane. I cannot say with certainty which of my motives are the strongest, but I know which of them deserve to be followed. And looking back through my work, I see that it is invariably where I lacked a POLITICAL purpose that I wrote lifeless books and was betrayed into purple passages, sentences without meaning, decorative adjectives and humbug generally. ~ George Orwell
The Book Of Dreams quotes by George Orwell
One notices immediately that the First Book of Samuel is mostly ignored by the Chronicler. This truth of the assembly does not want to go back to the rawness of the tribe. It is content to live from the state, and it is glad for the lid that state truth has put upon the tribal versions that might contain embarrassments. The beginning point is only to give a favorable version of the transition. The first narrative disposes of Saul by telling of the suicide. The narrative is crafted so that David is not mentioned, and therefore could not be blamed, until v. 14. ~ Walter Brueggemann
The Book Of Dreams quotes by Walter Brueggemann
Because in addition to joining dangerous gangs and having parties, this Noah also goes out with girls, keeps his hair buzzed and tidy, hangs at The Spot, watches sports with Dad. For all other sixteen-year-old boys: fine. For Noah, it signifies one thing: death of the spirit. A book with the wrong story in it. ~ Jandy Nelson
The Book Of Dreams quotes by Jandy Nelson
If you just read the book, you're taking in the narrative, you're taking in the characters, you're understanding it in a certain way. If you make a movie it's really an act of translation. ~ James Franco
The Book Of Dreams quotes by James Franco
I remember thinking that people were crazy for reading the same book more than once, but I now have a new-found appreciation for the re-discovery of literature. The lessons we learned from books in the school curriculum are reinvented and updated when we read as adults. ~ Rachel Nichols
