Other friends have said, "I don't understand why you've used this trumpet-style sound rather than a real one when you know you can write for trumpet." But it's most important to get the energy right. ~ Anna Meredith
Scollard Energy quotes by Anna Meredith
It's crazy how much energy we spend trying to avoid these hard topics when they're really the only ones that can set us free. ~ Brene Brown
Scollard Energy quotes by Brene Brown
We have phosphate on our DNA. Aluminum attaches itself to it and messes up our genetic coding process. While the aluminum is inside a cell, some of its particles attach to adenosine triphosphate (ATP). The ATP is in charge of our cell's energy production. So, in this manner the aluminum can affect our energy level. We have enzymes (proteins) within our cells that depend on attaching themselves to calcium (Ca) or magnesium (Mg) to function properly. Once our enzymes have attached to the Ca and Mg, they can carry on with their functions. Because the aluminum has such a strong positive charge, it's able to break the bond between our enzymes and Ca or Mg. These enzymes are now no longer attached to Ca or Mg. They have become neutralized and are unable to carry out their responsibilities. We need these enzymes for efficient metabolism, but now the aluminum is attached to the enzymes instead. The protein molecules all look a little different because their shape reflects what they are designed to do. Aluminum disturbs their individual tasks and clumps them together so they are now misshapen and no longer functioning. Aluminum also messes with the cell surface, the membrane, the outer layer of the cell. With a dysfunctional cell membrane, everything inside the cell becomes compromised and it is no longer able to properly communicate with the environment surrounding the cell about what needs to be done[96]. ~ James Morcan
Scollard Energy quotes by James Morcan
One-third of the world, it has been said, may be free- -but one-third is the victim of cruel repression
and the other one- third is rocked by the pangs of poverty, hunger and envy. More energy is released by the awakening of these new nations than by the fission of the atom itself. ~ John F. Kennedy
Scollard Energy quotes by John F. Kennedy
You can't fake anything. If you're honest and true and you love something, and you put that energy into it, people can usually feel it on the other side. ~ Tom Ford
Scollard Energy quotes by Tom Ford
You must learn to forgive yourself as easily as you forgive others. And then take a further step and use all that energy that you used in condemning yourself for improving yourself. After that I really started to get somewhere - because there's only one person you can change and that's yourself. After you have changed yourself, you might be able to inspire others to look for change. ~ Peace Pilgrim
Scollard Energy quotes by Peace Pilgrim
Today, there are also buyers and sellers of all these energy commodities, just like there are buyers and sellers of food commodities and many other commodities. ~ Kenneth Lay
Scollard Energy quotes by Kenneth Lay
If I'm in N.Y.C., I love walking around during the summer. It's hot, but I love it. I enjoy seeing everyone out. New York is such a fun place. The energy is so amazing here during the summer. ~ Behati Prinsloo
Scollard Energy quotes by Behati Prinsloo
Meditation is the basis of a life of splendid health, untiring energy, unfailing love, and abiding wisdom. It is the very foundation of that deep inner peace for which every one of us longs. No human being can ever be satisfied by money or success or prestige or anything else the world can offer. What we are really searching for is not something that satisfies us temporarily, but a permanent state of joy. ~ Eknath Easwaran
Scollard Energy quotes by Eknath Easwaran
A new idea, inconsistent with some of the beliefs which he holds, means the necessity of rearranging his mind; and this process is laborious, requiring a painful expenditure of brain-energy. To him and his fellows, who form the vast majority, new ideas, and opinions which cast doubt on established beliefs and institutions, seem evil because they are disagreeable. ~ John Bagnell Bury
Scollard Energy quotes by John Bagnell Bury
Control is everywhere in the collective consciousness and exists in every cell in your body and every atom of every facet of the Universe. We are all in charge, and we all are directing the Universe through the collective consciousness. All the various facets or branches of personal consciousness are voting with their thoughts and beliefs to slow energy and create the physical realities. ~ Russell Anthony Gibbs
Scollard Energy quotes by Russell Anthony Gibbs
About eighty thousand people were killed in Hiroshima and more than two thirds of the buildings were destroyed because 0.7 gram of uranium-235 was turned into pure energy. A dollar bill weighs more than that. ~ Eric Schlosser
Scollard Energy quotes by Eric Schlosser
Getting a project started is like moving a ship. It takes a lot of energy to build up momentum. ~ Susan Collins
Scollard Energy quotes by Susan Collins
On those luminous mornings Adela returned from the market, like Pomona emerging from the flames of day, spilling from her basket the coloful beauty of the sun –the shiny pink cherries full of juice under their transparent skins, the mysterious apricots in whose golden pulp lay the core of long afternoons. And next to that pure poetry of fruit, she unloaded sides of meat with their keyboard of ribs swollen with energy and strength, and seaweeds of vegetables like dead octopuses and squids–the raw material of meals with a yet undefined taste, the vegetative and terrestrial ingredients of dinner, exuding a wild and rustic smell. ~ Bruno Schulz
Scollard Energy quotes by Bruno Schulz
Here's in extreme example: the possibility of life after death. When considered rationally, there is no justification for believing that anything happens to anyone upon the moment of his or her death. There is no reasonable counter to the prospect of nothingness. Any anecdotal story about "floating toward a white light" or Shirley MacClain's past life on Atlantis or the details in Heaven Is for Real or automatically (and justifiably) dismissed by any secular intellectual. Yet this wholly logical position discounts the overwhelming likelihood that we currently don't know something critical about the experience of life, much less the ultimate conclusion to the experience. There are so many things we don't know about energy, or the way energy is transferred, or why energy (which can't be created or destroyed) exists at all. We can't truly conceive the conditions of a multidimensional reality, even though we're (probably) already living inside one. We have a limited understanding of consciousness. We have a limited understanding of time, and of the perception of time, and of the possibility that all time is happening at once. So while it seems unrealistic to seriously consider the prospect of life after death, it seems equally naïve to assume that our contemporary understanding of this phenomenon is remotely complete. We have no idea what we don't know, or what we'll eventually learn, or what might be true despite our perpetual inability to comprehend what that truth is.
Chuck Klosterman
Scollard Energy quotes by Chuck Klosterman
Life is rather above the measure of us all (save for a very few perhaps). We all need literature that is above our measure
though we may not have sufficient energy for it all the time. ~ J.R.R. Tolkien
Scollard Energy quotes by J.R.R. Tolkien
Indeed, in a strange coincidence, we are living in the only era in the history of the universe when the presence of the dark energy permeating empty space is likely to be detectable. It is true that this era is several hundred billion years long, but in an eternally expanding universe it represents the mere blink of a cosmic eye. ~ Lawrence M. Krauss
Scollard Energy quotes by Lawrence M. Krauss
Love can flow like the river, fly with the bird, sing with the crickets at night. It is in the energy of the river, the flight of the bird, the song from the cricket. There is nowhere where love is not. ~ Janet G. Nestor
Scollard Energy quotes by Janet G. Nestor
When things are starting to work, you get up at five in the morning thinking, what are we going to do today? You stay up until one in the morning getting it done, and then you start the next day with the same energy, because it's working! ~ Annie Lennox
Scollard Energy quotes by Annie Lennox
Stop giving your precious energy to things that make you feel bad. ~ Louise Hay
Scollard Energy quotes by Louise Hay
For introverts, who have limited energy for interaction, we need to be more thoughtful and deliberate about whom we meet - which, happily, is what we do best. ~ Laurie A. Helgoe
Scollard Energy quotes by Laurie A. Helgoe
In fact, there is nothing we can conceive of that is not energy. It doesn't just infuse everything; it is everything. ~ Peter Santos
Scollard Energy quotes by Peter Santos
I get so breathless, when you call my name,
I've often wondered, do you feel the same?
There's a chemistry, energy, a synchronicity
When we're all alone. ~ Corinne Bailey Rae
Scollard Energy quotes by Corinne Bailey Rae
One essential to success is that your desire be an all-obsessing one, your thoughts and aim be coordinated, and your energy be concentrated and applied without letup. ~ Claude M. Bristol
Scollard Energy quotes by Claude M. Bristol
She also told me about the night one of her astrophysics friends went to a bar trivia contest where the final question was "What does Kelvin measure?" The winning answer was "heat," but her friend explained that Kelvin measures temperature, not heat, since heat is energy and is measured in energy units like joules or ergs. The astronomer refused to back down, until the battle had to be settled with a chug-off. These astro people are hard-core. ~ Rob Sheffield
Scollard Energy quotes by Rob Sheffield
Commitment is the ultimate assertion of human freedom. It releases all the energy you possess and enables you to take quantum leaps in creativity. When you set a one-pointed intention and absolutely refuse to allow obstacles to dissipate the focused quality of your attention, you engage the infinite organizing power of the universe. ~ Deepak Chopra
Scollard Energy quotes by Deepak Chopra
I don't want to say that the poor are inherently cognitively diminished, but at the end of the day of making difficult, tough decisions, it's very hard to have the energy to think about things with the right mindset. ~ Dan Ariely
Scollard Energy quotes by Dan Ariely
Without movement there is no Life ... We should use our energy to the fullest. ~ Ai Qing
Scollard Energy quotes by Ai Qing
The energy doesn't end at the hands. I want such intensity that it feels like light is streaming from every finger. ~ Bob Fosse
Scollard Energy quotes by Bob Fosse
new technologies are going to make the airwaves "so abundant that there would be no justification for the government to ration access to spectrum or to give some services priority over others."46 In the near future, everyone will be able to share Earth's abundant free air waves, communicating with each other for nearly free, just as we will share the abundant free energy of the sun, wind, and geothermal heat. ~ Jeremy Rifkin
Scollard Energy quotes by Jeremy Rifkin
No matter, you are standing alone. Your truth is your energy that makes you victorious. It is with you, and it remains, after you. ~ Ehsan Sehgal
Scollard Energy quotes by Ehsan Sehgal
So, in the case of trees, being old doesn't mean being weak, bowed, and fragile. Quite the opposite, it means being full of energy and highly productive. This means elders are markedly more productive than young whippersnappers, and when it comes to climate change, they are important allies for human beings. ~ Peter Wohlleben
Scollard Energy quotes by Peter Wohlleben
Blue radiated psychic energy for others, but touch was where she gained hers back. She was always hugging her mother or holding Noah's hand or linking her elbow in Adam's or resting her boots on Ronan's legs as they sat on the sofa. Touching Gansey's neck just between his hair and his collar. This ~ Maggie Stiefvater
Scollard Energy quotes by Maggie Stiefvater
For decades, our dependence on OPEC oil has dictated our national security decisions and tied us up in the Middle East at an incredible price. We've spent more than $5 trillion and thousands of American soldiers have died securing Middle East oil. ~ T. Boone Pickens
Scollard Energy quotes by T. Boone Pickens
Recovery is an important word and a vital concept. It means renewal of life and energy. Knowing how and when to recover may prove to be the most important skill in your life. ~ James E. Loehr
Scollard Energy quotes by James E. Loehr
We have this idea that love is supposed to last forever. But love isn't like that. It's a free-flowing energy that comes and goes when it pleases. Sometimes, it stays for life; other times it stays for a second, a day, a month or a year. So don't fear love when it comes simply because it makes you vulnerable. But don't be surprised when it leaves either. Just be glad you had the opportunity to experience it. ~ Neil Strauss
Scollard Energy quotes by Neil Strauss
Successful companies obviously have people with ideas and energy. ~ Hasso Plattner
Scollard Energy quotes by Hasso Plattner
Humanity must accept that the food, the raw materials, the energy, the scientific knowledge and so on, belongs to everybody, that it is given by Divine providence for all peoples, the rich nations and what are called the developing nations. No one has the right to corner the goods of the world as is done today, whether that be oil or food or any of the things that we think are so important. ~ Benjamin Creme
Scollard Energy quotes by Benjamin Creme
In order to win, we pay with energy and effort and discipline. If we lose, we pay in disappointment, discontent, and lack of fulfillment. ~ Maya Angelou
Scollard Energy quotes by Maya Angelou
Shaking's one of the oldest practices known to man. Standing round a fire and connecting with the Earth and moving energy through the body because it's where a lot of our stuff can get trapped. ~ Jerome Flynn
Scollard Energy quotes by Jerome Flynn
As a producer, you're there from the inception of the concept to the delivery of it. It just takes so much energy. ~ Susan Downey
Scollard Energy quotes by Susan Downey
It always seems to me that one of the saddest things about the death of a literary man is the fact that the breaking-up of his collection of books almost invariably follows; the building up of a good library, the work of a lifetime, has been so much labour lost, so far as future generations are concerned. Talent, yes, and genius too, are displayed not only in writing books but also in buying them, and it is a pity that the ruthless hammer of the auctioneer should render so much energy and skill fruitless. ~ Stuart Dodgson Collingwood
Scollard Energy quotes by Stuart Dodgson Collingwood
If so, it is inaccurate to say that the majority 'enjoy bad pictures'. They enjoy the ideas suggested to them by bad pictures. They do not really see the pictures as they are. If they did, they could not live with them. There is a sense in which bad work never is nor can be enjoyed by anyone. The people do not like the bad picture because the faces in them are like those of puppets and there is no real mobility in the lines that are meant to be moving and no energy or grace in the whole design. These faults are simply invisible to them; as the actual face of the Teddy-bear is invisible to an imaginative and warm-hearted child when it is absorbed in its play. It no longer notices that the eyes are only beads. ~ C.S. Lewis
Scollard Energy quotes by C.S. Lewis
This revolution, the information revoultion, is a revolution of free energy as well, but of another kind: free intellectual energy. It's very crude today, yet our Macintosh computer takes less power than a 100-watt bulb to run it and it can save you hours a day. What will it be able to do ten or 20 years from now, or 50 years from now? ~ Steve Jobs
Scollard Energy quotes by Steve Jobs
Electing clean-energy leaders into the Senate, the House, and the Oval Office - and getting it done in the next few years - is the only real solution to climate stabilization at acceptable levels. ~ Eban Goodstein
Scollard Energy quotes by Eban Goodstein
The energy transition demands a clear vision of the steps that need to be taken and a stable, meaningful regulatory framework. It appears important to us to awaken public opinion to the fact that this transition will necessarily come at a cost and will, at least in the short term, involve a price increase. ~ Christophe De Margerie
Scollard Energy quotes by Christophe De Margerie
Even if you couldn't see it beneath the surface, molecules were bonding, energy pushing up slowly, as something worked do hare, all alone to grow. ~ Sarah Dessen
