Quoting Randy Morgenson quotes by Eric Blehm
In any case, perhaps the quest for data to support our actions gets overemphasized. After all, our emotions distinguish us. Art and poetry and music are from and to the human heart, as is, for many, our relationship with the land.' ~ Randy Morgenson ~ Eric Blehm

...the mountains are my life. Without them I am nothing. They are perhaps the only reality I know. They are my guru. If I am to learn anything in life, I will learn it there. ~ Randy Morgenson

Quoting Randy Morgenson quotes by Randy Attwood
Sentimental Humanitarianism: A Dangerous Temptation Gregg argues that sentimental humanitarianism: Reduces most debates to exchanges of feelings. Common responses to disagreements are "you can't say that" or "that's hurtful" or "that offends me." But in quoting British novelist Ian McEwan, Gregg says there is nothing virtuous about being offended. Is naive of human nature. It assumes everyone is of good will. Rather, Gregg says we have to acknowledge that there are some groups of people in which rational conversation is not possible. Doesn't take free choice seriously. It claims all evil emanates from bad education and unjust structures, but this is hardly the full story. Evil is a free choice of each individual, and Gregg says it's not something that can be explained away by the fact that someone is wealthier than ~ Anonymous

Most of my songs are about insensitivity of some kind. ~ Randy Newman
Quoting Randy Morgenson quotes by Randy Newman
I just don't think that I could be the kind of actor I want to be and not be honest with myself. Honesty is very important to me as an actor and as a person. I didn't even think about it. ~ Randy Harrison
Quoting Randy Morgenson quotes by Randy Harrison
Jack, we gotta chance to make a difference in their lives. They need us. How can we go back to that big empty house knowing that these kids got no place to call home? ~ Randolph Randy Camp
Quoting Randy Morgenson quotes by Randolph Randy Camp
Yeah, but will it hurt?"' I asked.
"This is science, Zach," Randy said, reassuringly, as he tilted my head back and lowered the lens to my eye. "Of course it will hurt. ~ John Zakour
Quoting Randy Morgenson quotes by John Zakour
Halfhearted or insincere apologies are often worse than not apologizing at all because recipients find them insulting. If you've done something wrong in your dealings with another person, it's as if there's an infection in your relationship. A good apology is like an antibiotic; a bad apology is like rubbing salt I the wound. ~ Randy Pausch
Quoting Randy Morgenson quotes by Randy Pausch
I've been racketeered on. ~ Randy Quaid
Quoting Randy Morgenson quotes by Randy Quaid
[writing]
it starts with a
kernel of an idea
and grows from there. ~ Randy Lee White
Quoting Randy Morgenson quotes by Randy Lee White
Writers have always liked my stuff, pretty much. That's what I wanted - I think my goal wasn't to get rich and famous, necessarily, though I cared about that. I always thought, "Oh, this could be a hit," or "that will sell records." But the first thing I wanted was that people who knew a lot about music, or had taste-making qualities, they would like my stuff. Writers, people like that. ~ Randy Newman
Quoting Randy Morgenson quotes by Randy Newman
My music has a high irritation factor. I've always tried to say something. Eccentric lyrics about eccentric people. Often it was a joke. But I would plead guilty on the grounds that I prefer eccentricity to the bland. ~ Randy Newman
Quoting Randy Morgenson quotes by Randy Newman
An author who integrates alien signs into the medial surface of his own texts - signs behind which we presume the existence of other powerful, submedial subjects "as authors" - does not increase the comprehensibility of that text. Yet nonetheless, he increases the magical effectiveness this text exudes. Such quotations lead us to presume that the text houses a dangerous, manipulative subject, a magician with enough power to manipulate the signs of other powerful magicians and able to use them strategically for his own purposes. Thus an author who quotes alien signs conveys a stronger impression of powerful authorship than one who ad- vocates precisely his so-called own ideas - which do not interest anybody precisely because they are only his own. It is also well known that one may not quote the same author too often, in which case quoting gradu- ally looses its magical power and begins to irritate the reader. The reason for this gradual decrease of a quote's magical effectiveness is that it looses its strangeness over time and gets integrated into the medial surface of a text, thereby becoming a proper part of it. In order to maintain their magical effect, quotes have to be exchanged constantly so as to continue to maintain the same appearance of foreignness and freshness. The quote functions as a magical fetish that lends the entire text a hidden, submedial power beyond its superficial meaning. ~ Boris Groys
Quoting Randy Morgenson quotes by Boris Groys
Some fools in the desert with nothing to do ... invented me, and they invented you. And other fools keep it all going and growing. Everybody, we're a figment of their imagination ... ~ Randy Newman
Quoting Randy Morgenson quotes by Randy Newman
Whenever we have excess, giving should be our natural response. It should be the automatic decision, the obvious thing to do in light of Scripture and human need. ~ Randy Alcorn
Quoting Randy Morgenson quotes by Randy Alcorn
(Quoting Goethe
We lay aside letters never to read them again, and at last destroy them out of discretion, and so disappears the most beautiful, the most immediate breath of life, irrecoverably for ourselves and for others. ~ James Howe
Quoting Randy Morgenson quotes by James Howe
When Mama prayed, lives were changed. Not much more than five foot tall, but mountains big and small crumbled all away. ~ Randy Travis
Quoting Randy Morgenson quotes by Randy Travis
Science is interesting, and if you don't agree you can fuck off.
Note: Dawkins was quoting a former editor of New Scientist Magazine, who is as yet unidentified (possibly Jeremy Webb) ~ Richard Dawkins

...There is no friendship in the desert, there is no love. The Sahara only knows allies and accomplices. [Hopkins quoting B. Gysin's The Process] ~ John Hopkins
Quoting Randy Morgenson quotes by John Hopkins
Mr. Melville is evidently trying to ascertain how far the public will consent to be imposed upon. He is gauging, at once, our gullibilty and our patience. Having written one or two passable extravagancies, he has considered himself privileged to produce as many more as he pleases, increasingly exaggerated and increasingly dull…. In bombast, in caricature, in rhetorical artifice - generally as clumsy as it is ineffectual - and in low attempts at humor, each one of his volumes has been an advance among its predecessors…. Mr. Melville never writes naturally. His sentiment is forced, his wit is forced, and his enthusiasm is forced. And in his attempts to display to the utmost extent his powers of "fine writing," he has succeeded, we think, beyond his most sanguine expectations… We have no intention of quoting any passages just now from Moby-Dick. The London journals, we understand, "have bestowed upon the work many flattering notices," and we should be loth to combat such high authority. But if there are any of our readers who wish to find examples of bad rhetoric, involved syntax, stilted sentiment and incoherent English, we will take the liberty of recommending to them this precious volume of Mr. Melville's. ~ John L. O'Sullivan
Quoting Randy Morgenson quotes by John L. O'Sullivan
Randy Moss is not a leader. He doesn't deserve to be the captain of the Oakland Raiders. He's the one who said he wanted to be traded. He's not happy. His effort is lacking. That's a disgrace to the uniform. I don't care what uniform you have on. ~ Boomer Esiason
Quoting Randy Morgenson quotes by Boomer Esiason
You can't control the cards you're dealt, just how you play the hand. ~ Randy Pausch
Quoting Randy Morgenson quotes by Randy Pausch
I don't just say I'm conservative. I have boot leather to my gospel. ~ Randy Weber
Quoting Randy Morgenson quotes by Randy Weber
To add an AC outlet, for example, you just drill a circular hole in the wall, tap into the wiring, add the outlet and you're set. If you don't want it, pull it out and plaster over it with more earth to seal the hole. ~ Randy Bachman
Quoting Randy Morgenson quotes by Randy Bachman
Most importantly, the epidemic was only news when it was not killing homosexuals. In this sense, AIDS remained a fundamentally gay disease, newsworthy only by the virtue of the fact that it sometimes hit people who weren't gay, ~ Randy Shilts
Quoting Randy Morgenson quotes by Randy Shilts
Mostly, I don't write overtly personal stuff. ~ Randy Newman
Quoting Randy Morgenson quotes by Randy Newman
In England, in France, in no other country would a black man have a chance to get elected. There's no two ways about it. Our country [USA] has been better about dealing with immigration and people who are different from each other than any other country in the world, that I know of. ~ Randy Newman
Quoting Randy Morgenson quotes by Randy Newman
I really want to be all serious and nod my head at that, but I think you just attempted to drop knowledge by quoting a movie in which David Bowie wears tights. ~ Scarlett Cole
Quoting Randy Morgenson quotes by Scarlett Cole
I had been doing summer stock every summer while I was in college. We did a showcase, like most good conservatories do - monologues and things that agents and casting directors come to see. From that I got an agent. ~ Randy Harrison
Quoting Randy Morgenson quotes by Randy Harrison
Don't bail; the best pieces of gold are at the bottom of the barrel of crap. ~ Randy Pausch
Quoting Randy Morgenson quotes by Randy Pausch
Wait long enough and people will surprise and impress. When you're pissed off at someone and you're angry at them, you just haven't given them enough time. Just give them a little more time and they almost always will impress you. ~ Randy Pausch
Quoting Randy Morgenson quotes by Randy Pausch
Can't stand all these poisonous creatures, all these snakes and insects and fish and things. Wretched things, biting everybody. And then people expect me to tell them what to do about it. I'll tell them what to do. Don't get bitten in the first place. (quoting Dr. Struan Sutherland) ~ Douglas Adams
