You never had sex in a car."

"Yes, I have. You get ideas at least half the time whenever we're in the back of one of your limos."

"Not the same at all. That's a grown-up venue, a limo is. It's sophisticated sex. And here we are, crammed together in the front seat of a police issue, and the lieutenant is both aroused and mildly embarrassed."

"I am not. Either." But her pulse jumped, and her breath hitched when his thumbs brushed over the thin cotton covering her breasts. "This is ridiculous. We're adults, we're married. The steering wheel is jammed into the base of my spine."

"The first two are irrelevant, the last is part of the buzz. Music on, program five. Skyroof open."

She narrowed her eyes at him. "It's not going to work. It's uncomfortable and it's stupid. And I have to work in this vehicle."

"I can make you come in ten seconds."

She actually smirked at him. "Ten," she said, "nine, eight, seven, six, five . . . oh shit." She'd underestimated his quick hands, his skilled fingers. He had her trousers unhooked, had her wet and throbbing. And over. ~ J.D. Robb
Pritikin Program quotes by J.D. Robb
You can count on one hand the number of Novus Ordo churches in this country that feature a fully Catholic music program of any quality, consistent with the Roman rite tradition. ~ Richard Morris
Pritikin Program quotes by Richard Morris
We need to remember that politics is all about people, not programs. We shouldn't want to take the humanness out of the political arena. ~ J. C. Watts
Pritikin Program quotes by J. C. Watts
When a worker is injured at an IBP plant in Texas, he or she is immediately presented with a waiver. Signing the waiver means forever surrendering the right to sue IBP on any grounds. Workers who sign the waiver may receive medical care under IBP's Workplace Injury Settlement Program. Or they may not. Once workers sign, IBP and its company-approved doctors have control over the job-related medical treatment - for life. Under the program's terms, seeking treatment from an independent physician can be grounds for losing all medical benefits. Workers who refuse to sign the IBP waiver not only risk getting no medical care from the company, but also risk being fired on the spot...Injured workers almost always sign the waiver. The pressure to do so is immense. An IBP medical case manager will literally bring the waiver to a hospital emergency room in order to obtain an injured worker's signature. When Lonita Leal's right hand was mangled by a hamburger grinder at the IBP plant in Amarillo, a case manager talked her into signing the waiver with her left hand as she waited in the hospital for surgery. When Duane Mullin had both hands crushed in a hammer mill at the same plant, an IBP representative persuaded him to sign the waiver with a pen held in his mouth. ~ Eric Schlosser
Pritikin Program quotes by Eric Schlosser
What got my interested in science fiction was actually the American space program. ~ Ronald D. Moore
Pritikin Program quotes by Ronald D. Moore
It's one of the best programs I've ever seen because it benefits both sides: children, who need love, and grandparents, elderly people, who need to feel wanted. ~ Nancy Reagan
Pritikin Program quotes by Nancy Reagan
At the end of the elementary program, I then had to move onto high school. Simultaneously, my parents moved to Attica to a suburban area not far from the well-known Attica State Prison. Then I would take the school bus which was a very short distance away, where I was involved with a much larger community. ~ Paul Smith
Pritikin Program quotes by Paul Smith
You can find dozens of examples of this kind of liberal-class virtue-quest if you try, but instead of listing them, let me go straight to the point: This is not politics. It's an imitation of politics. It feels political, yes: it's highly moralistic, it sets up an easy melodrama of good versus bad, it allows you to make all kinds of judgments about people you disagree with, but ultimately it's a diversion, a way of putting across a policy program while avoiding any sincere discussion of the policies in question. The virtue-quest is an exciting moral crusade that seems to be extremely important but at the conclusion of which you discover you've got little to show for it besides NAFTA, bank deregulation, and a prison spree.

This book is about Democrats, but of course Republicans do it too. The culture wars unfold in precisely the same way as the liberal virtue-quest: they are an exciting ersatz politics that seem to be really important but at the conclusion of which voters discover they've got little to show for it all besides more free-trade agreements, more bank deregulation, and a different prison spree. ~ Thomas Frank
Pritikin Program quotes by Thomas Frank
One of the primary reasons that abstraction is overloved is that a completed program full of the right abstractions is perfectly beautiful. But there are very few completed programs, because programs are written, maintained, bugs are fixed, features are added, performance is tuned, and a whole variety of changes are made both by the original and new programming team members. Thus, the way a program looks in the end is not important because there is rarely an end, and if there is one it isn't planned. ~ Richard P. Gabriel
Pritikin Program quotes by Richard P. Gabriel
In a sense, evolution adheres to the classic twelve-step program: it takes things one day at a time. It does not strive for perfection; it does not strive at all. There is no progress, no plans, no scala natura, or scale of nature, that ranks organisms from lowly to superior, primitive to advanced. ~ Natalie Angier
Pritikin Program quotes by Natalie Angier
Any church program, no matter how impressive, if it is not supported by an adequate prayer program, is little more than an ecclesiastical treadmill. It is doing little or no damage to Satan's kingdom. ~ Paul Billheimer
Pritikin Program quotes by Paul Billheimer
The mind is an evolved computer program. ~ Eric Baum
Pritikin Program quotes by Eric Baum
One of the great intellectual mistakes Einstein made is that he thought that space and time are physically or ontologically entangled. In the present non-spatial universal computational program, space and time happen to be entangled to the extent that, under certain unique circumstances, changes in spatial measurements indicate changes in temporal ones. However, a change in the program itself may cause space and time to disentangle. ~ Kedar Joshi
Pritikin Program quotes by Kedar Joshi
When I took over as chair of the fashion program, I was horrified that only the faculty member was allowed to speak in a critique. I'm talking about perfectly nurturing teachers. But the rule was there would be no call of hands for students to contribute their feedback. It was embedded in the department's culture. That was alarming to me. When I was teaching, I was the least important person in the room as far as I was concerned
my students' points of view mattered most. I wanted to learn who they were and teach them to respect one another's perspectives.
I would start off by saying something like, I am having trouble understanding how this work solves the problem at hand. Here are some things about the work that I appreciate: X, Y, Z. But I see these virtues independent of the problem we're solving. ~ Tim Gunn
Pritikin Program quotes by Tim Gunn
There is a lot of waste in government-run programs generally, and a lot of waste and fraud and misuse of money in Medicare and Medicaid that can be saved. ~ Chuck Grassley
Pritikin Program quotes by Chuck Grassley
Genre/forms are institutional questions mainly. Like matter to MFA programs in terms of which workshop you can teach. ~ Juliana Spahr
Pritikin Program quotes by Juliana Spahr
In recent years we might be compared to a team of doctors issuing prescriptions to cure or to immunize our members against spiritual diseases. Each time some moral or spiritual ailment was diagnosed, we have rushed to the pharmacy to concoct another remedy, encapsulate it as a program and send it out with pages of directions for use... Over medication, over-programming is a critically serious problem. ~ Boyd K. Packer
Pritikin Program quotes by Boyd K. Packer
The Barcelona youth program is one of the best in the world. At the age of just 27, he is already their record goalscorer in competitive, league, as well as continental games. He is a sensation, but still he can improve. When I was a kid, my friends would call me to go out with them, but I would stay home because I had practice the next day. My motivation comes from playing the game I love. ~ Thierry Henry
Pritikin Program quotes by Thierry Henry
I try to live the moment and not obey laws, rules, conventions, or norms; to react to a sensation, a feeling, or an emotion. You can't program emotion. ~ Anne Parillaud
Pritikin Program quotes by Anne Parillaud
Programs should be written and polished until they acquire publication quality. ~ Niklaus Wirth
Pritikin Program quotes by Niklaus Wirth
complicated code is a sign that you don't understand your program well enough to make it simple. ~ Steve McConnell
Pritikin Program quotes by Steve McConnell
When we are very young, our parents inadvertently program us to be what we eventually become. ~ Peggy Toney Horton ~ Peggy Toney Horton
Pritikin Program quotes by Peggy Toney Horton
In addition to declaring and destroying all of its weapons of mass destruction, Iraq must end its support for terrorism. It must cease the persecution of its civilian population. It must stop all illicit trade outside the oil-for-food program. And it must release or account for all Gulf War personnel, including an American pilot, whose fate is still unknown. By taking these steps, and only by taking these steps, the Iraqi regime has an opportunity to avoid conflict. These steps would also change the nature of the Iraqi regime itself. America hopes the regime will make that choice. ~ George W. Bush
Pritikin Program quotes by George W. Bush
Addiction, self-sabotage, procrastination, laziness, rage, chronic fatigue, and depression are all ways that we withhold our full participation in the program of life we are offered. When the conscious mind cannot find a reason to say no, the unconscious says no in its own way. ~ Charles Eisenstein
Pritikin Program quotes by Charles Eisenstein
I am grateful to be able to participate in the adult citation program where I will complete community service. ~ Jameis Winston
Pritikin Program quotes by Jameis Winston
Allen agreed, writing, "If one understands that socialism is not a share-the-wealth program, but is in reality a method to consolidate and control the wealth, then the seeming paradox of super-rich men promoting socialism becomes no paradox at all. Instead it becomes the logical, even the perfect tool of the power-seeking megalomaniacs." He reveals, "Socialism, is not a movement of the downtrodden masses, but of the economic elite. ~ Mark M. Rich
Pritikin Program quotes by Mark M. Rich
Socialism is not a share-the-wealth program, as the socialists would like you to believe, but a consolidate-and-control-the-wealth program for the Insiders. ~ Gary Allen
Pritikin Program quotes by Gary Allen
Evolution is not a fact. Evolution doesn't even qualify as a theory or as a hypothesis. It is a metaphysical research program, and it is not really testable science. ~ Karl Popper
Pritikin Program quotes by Karl Popper
Non-Tenure Writing Jobs
The MLA session on the adjunct crisis indicates where higher education has come to in the Brave New World of the 21st century. Research by the MLA itself, by Gloria McMillan, by Eileen Schell and other colleagues, already confirm the deep replacement of tenure-track faculty with contingent adjuncts and others. This crisis is deepest in composition and in community colleges. Doug Hesse's program at Denver Univ. is no solution; it will extend the subordination of composition through sub-faculty lines while rationalizing it as "good for students"(before research has even proved it so). But, sub-faculty writing lecturers will never be treated as "real" professors by their institutions and will never be accepted as colleagues by their tenure-track peers. Such sub-faculty plans will weaken the faculty as a whole in the academy by further dividing it into competing sub-groups. Neither will a sub-faculty plan benefit the 14 million undergraduates on campus, most who attend under-funded public colleges with no billion-dollar endowments or corporate angels to turn to. Community colleges, in particular, where about 6 million students are enrolled, can have up to 65% of classes taught by adjuncts. The sub-faculty plan is thus really a management tool available in the short-term to those colleges with deep pockets and deep readiness to entrench a lesser sub-faculty in their writing programs. Doug Hesse acknowledges such an outcome as a possibility. He is quote ~ Ira Shor
Pritikin Program quotes by Ira Shor
It was such a relief to program in user mode for a change. Not having to care about the small stuff is wonderful. ~ Linus Torvalds
Pritikin Program quotes by Linus Torvalds
I think in terms of educating a group of readers, MFA programs are very good. I just think the model of MFA programs in which a young poet goes through the program, publishes a series of books, gets teaching jobs, that's a bit at risk. ~ Edward Hirsch
Pritikin Program quotes by Edward Hirsch
I like producing beats, and I like rapping, too. I have a program for the PC, and I can hook my keyboard to it. ~ Jamie Waylett
Pritikin Program quotes by Jamie Waylett
A mission is not just a casual thing-it is not an alternative program in the Church. Neither is a mission a matter of choice any more than tithing is a choice, any more than sacrament meeting is a choice, any more than the Word of Wisdom is a choice. Of course, we have our free agency, and the Lord has given us choices. We can do as we please. We can go on a mission or we can remain home. But every normal young man is as much obligated to go on a mission as he is to pay his tithing, attend his meetings, keep the Sabbath day holy, and keep his life spotless and clean. ~ Spencer W. Kimball
Pritikin Program quotes by Spencer W. Kimball
Computational processes are abstract beings that inhabit computers. As they evolve, processes manipulate other abstract things called data. The evolution of a process is directed by a pattern of rules called a program. People create programs to direct processes. In effect, we conjure the spirits of the computer with our spells. ~ Harold Abelson
Pritikin Program quotes by Harold Abelson
Much to the surprise of the builders of the first digital computers, programs written for them usually did not work. ~ Rodney Brooks
Pritikin Program quotes by Rodney Brooks
I believe the 'Jeopardy!' test is more difficult than being a contestant on the program. ~ Alex Trebek
Pritikin Program quotes by Alex Trebek
If you want to be relevant only in your household, then you only need to know the things that are important in your house, and if you want to be relevant in your neighborhood, you need to know what's important in your neighborhood. The same thing applies to your city, state, and country. And if you want to be relevant to the entire world, program that computer known as your brain with all kinds of information from everywhere in order to prepare yourself. ~ Ben Carson
Pritikin Program quotes by Ben Carson
So I had the opportunity to do what the kids in the Hershey program do, except that the Hershey program lets them do it on such a larger scale, with the regional and national competitions. ~ Rafer Johnson
Pritikin Program quotes by Rafer Johnson

Kavita Philip University of California, Irvine, Associate Professor of Women's Studies, Anthropology, and Arts, Computation, and Engineering (ACE) Program
Todd Presner University ~ Cathy N. Davidson
Pritikin Program quotes by Cathy N. Davidson
Don't program yourself to break down as you age with thoughts that decline is inevitable. Time may be passing for our bodies, but because they house our ageless souls, we never need to see ourselves as old and infirm. ~ Wayne Dyer
Pritikin Program quotes by Wayne Dyer
You can not be a conservative if you're going to keep promoting new programs that you're not going to pay for. ~ Rand Paul
Pritikin Program quotes by Rand Paul
The media propagates a message that corporations want, and there's a belittling and mocking of the poor and celebration of wealth. A kind of cutthroat, rapacious capitalism is celebrated on reality television shows where you betray and manipulate and push aside your competitors for fleeting fame and money. These are sick values, but they're disseminated through corporate media in almost every program you watch. ~ Chris Hedges
Pritikin Program quotes by Chris Hedges
This time, his bear stayed quiet, finally getting with the "sneaky like a cat" program. Today ~ Nalini Singh
Pritikin Program quotes by Nalini Singh
Around 1967 Dan Bobrow wrote a program to do algebra problems based on symbols rather than numbers. ~ Marvin Minsky
Pritikin Program quotes by Marvin Minsky
The inability to say no is largely about approval-seeking - people imagine that if they say no, they won't be loved by others. The inability to say yes, however - to intimacy, a job opportunity, an alcohol program - is more about lack of trust in oneself. Will I mess this up? Will this turn out badly? Isn't it safer to stay where I am? ~ Lori Gottlieb
Pritikin Program quotes by Lori Gottlieb
If I program 'ware with an Anglo-Ubiq word and play it, you understand it," Scile said. "If I do the same with a word in Language, and play it to an Ariekes, I understand it, but to them it means nothing, because it's only sound, and that's not where the meaning lives. It needs a mind behind it. ~ China Mieville
Pritikin Program quotes by China Mieville
The teachers introduced a program that explicitly trained the students to construct coherent arguments, with a focus on the connections between successive ideas. It was a radical shift from the kind of assignment that dominates high school writing instruction today, in which students are asked to write memoirs and personal reflections. The students showed dramatic improvements in their test scores in several subjects, and many more of them graduated from high school and applied to college. It's no coincidence that ~ Steven Pinker
Pritikin Program quotes by Steven Pinker
All that a spectator gets out of the game is fresh air, the comical articles in his program, the sight of twenty-two young men rushing about in mysterious formations, and whatever he brought in his flask. ~ Robert Benchley
Pritikin Program quotes by Robert Benchley
