I rememeber one time we were getting ready to go to South America and everything was packed up and in the car ready to go and I hid and I was crying because I really did not want to go, I wanted to play. I did not want to go. ~ Michael Jackson
Nomads South quotes by Michael Jackson
A culture of secrecy is like the bad stench created by cat pee - it is very difficult to get rid of. ~ Pierre De Vos
Nomads South quotes by Pierre De Vos
When I went through Marine boot camp in Paris Island, South Carolina, we actually did have bayonets that we trained with. ~ Josh Mandel
Nomads South quotes by Josh Mandel
And the main thing was that I wanted to live in south Florida. That's why I left the Cowboys; to live in south Florida. ~ Jimmy Johnson
Nomads South quotes by Jimmy Johnson
Very sad to hear about the passing of Nelson Mandela. He was a true inspiration for human rights and equality for South Africa and the reason apartheid no longer exists there. The world will never forget his capacity for forgiveness and magnanimity. RIP ~ Bryan Adams
Nomads South quotes by Bryan Adams
The Americans of the United States stand in precisely the same position with regard to the peoples of South America as their fathers, the English, occupy with regard to the Italians, the Spaniards, the Portuguese, and all those nations of Europe which receive their articles of daily consumption from England, because they are less advanced in civilization and trade. ~ Alexis De Tocqueville
Nomads South quotes by Alexis De Tocqueville
What's his story?' asked Yarvi.
'I don't know his name. Nothing, we all call him. When I was first brought to the South Wind he pulled an oar. One night, off the coast of Gettland, he tried to escape. Somehow he got free of his chain and stole a knife. He killed three guards and cut another's knee so he never walked again, and he gave our captain that scar before she and Trigg put a stop to him.'
Yarvi blinked at the shambling scrubber. 'All that with a knife?'
'And not a large one. ~ Joe Abercrombie
Nomads South quotes by Joe Abercrombie
A Mocking Bird regularly resorts to the south angle of a chimney top and salutes us with sweetest notes from the rising of the moon until about midnight. ~ John James Audubon
Nomads South quotes by John James Audubon
Her voice was soft and flowing, and though he recognized it as Deep South, it seemed almost a foreign tongue after the coastal Maine cadence he'd grown used to. He wasn't a man to be pleased with having a magnolia blossom tossed on his doorstep. When she opened her eyes and smiled at him, Grant wished fervently he'd never opened the door. ~ Nora Roberts
Nomads South quotes by Nora Roberts
In the end, everyone came to the conclusion that however ungainly, however inefficient, however elliptical ASEAN's ways are, it's still better than not having an ASEAN. That is the genius of ASEAN foreign policy. ~ George Yeo
Nomads South quotes by George Yeo
No southerner had been elected President for more than a century, and it was a bitter article of faith among southern politicians that no southerner would be elected President in any foreseeable future; when members of the House of Representatives gave their Speaker, Sam Rayburn, ruler of the House for more than two decades, a limousine as a present, attached to the back of the front seat was a plaque that read 'To Our Beloved Sam Rayburn - Who Would Have Been President If He Had Come From Any Place but the South. ~ Robert A. Caro
Nomads South quotes by Robert A. Caro
You know those ducks in that lagoon right near Central Park south? That little lake?By any chance you happen to know where they go?The ducks,When it gets all frozen over? ~ Greg Holden
Nomads South quotes by Greg Holden
By faith we proclaim that we are "justified". By His sinless sacrifice Jesus declares and makes us "righteous" by giving us His very own righteousness! ~ John Paul Warren
Nomads South quotes by John Paul Warren
Kundera was also a postmodernist writer, but he completely lacked this embracing of other worlds, with him the world was always the same, it was Prague and Czechoslovakia and the Soviets who had either invaded or were on the point of doing so, and that was fine, but he kept withdrawing his characters from the plot, intervening and going on about something or other while the characters stood still, waiting as it were, by the window or wherever it was they happened to be until he had finished his explanation and they could move forward. Then you saw that the plot was only 'a plot' and that the characters were only 'characters', something he had invented, you knew they didn't exist, and so why should you read about them? Kundera's polar opposite was Hamsun, no one went as far into his characters' world as he did, and that was what I preferred, at least in a comparison of these two, the physicality and the realism of Hunger, for example. There the world had weight, there even the thoughts were captured, while with Kundera the thoughts elevated themselves above the world and did as they liked with it. Another difference I had noticed was that European novels often had only one plot, everything followed one track as it were, while South American novels had a multiplicity of tracks and sidetracks, indeed, compared with European novels, they almost exploded with plots. One of my favourites was A Hundred Years of Solitude by García Márquez, but I also loved Love in the Time of Cholera ~ Karl Ove Knausgaard
Nomads South quotes by Karl Ove Knausgaard
I am an Egyptian Muslim, educated in Cairo and New York, and now living in Vienna. My wife and I have spent half our lives in the North, half in the South. And we have experienced first hand the unique nature of the human family and the common values we all share. ~ Mohamed ElBaradei
Nomads South quotes by Mohamed ElBaradei
I hate maps.'
'Really?' She sounded stunned, and maybe just a little bit delighted by his admission. 'Why?'
He told her the truth. 'I haven't the talent for reading them.'
'And you, a highwayman.'
'What has that to do with it?'
'Don't you need to know where you're going?'
'Not nearly so much as I need to know where I've been ... There are certain areas of the country - possibly all of Kent, to be honest - it is best that I avoid.'
'This is one of those moments,' she said, blinking several times in rapid succession, 'when I am not quite certain if you are being serious.'
'Oh, very much so,' he told her, almost cheerfully. 'Except perhaps for the bit about Kent ... I might have been understating.'
'Understating,' she echoed.
'There's a reason I avoid the South.'
'Good heavens. ~ Julia Quinn
Nomads South quotes by Julia Quinn
[The South] is ****ed for its virtues and praised for its faults, and there are those who wish its annihilation. But most revealing of all is the fear that it gestates the revolutionary impulse of our future. ~ Richard M. Weaver
Nomads South quotes by Richard M. Weaver
I tried not to let my relief show. I'd been a passenger in Jae's car a total of three times, and after each trip, I forced myself not to kiss the ground in thanks once I got free of the Explorer. He'd learned to drive in Seoul. Apparently, no one believed in turn signals or lanes in South Korea, because Jae drove like a drunk butterfly heading to its next fermented flower. ~ Rhys Ford
Nomads South quotes by Rhys Ford
I want to make Seoul the front line of the new South Korea. Seoul is sleeping, and I want to wake it up. ~ Chung Mong-joon
Nomads South quotes by Chung Mong-joon
Hark, I hear a robin calling!
List, the wind is from the south!
And the orchard-bloom is falling
Sweet as kisses on the mouth.
In the dreamy vale of beeches
Fair and faint is woven mist,
And the river's orient reaches
Are the palest amethyst.
Every limpid brook is singing
Of the lure of April days;
Every piney glen is ringing
With the maddest roundelays.
Come and let us seek together
Springtime lore of daffodils,
Giving to the golden weather
Greeting on the sun-warm hills. ~ Lucy Maud Montgomery
Nomads South quotes by Lucy Maud Montgomery
I had a dream , okay, go do a swim off Antarctica, and I'd train in Gauteng and just dive into the sea off Antarctica ... You've really got to do a simulated test as best you can in South Africa before you go off. ~ Lewis Pugh
Nomads South quotes by Lewis Pugh
Gospel music in those days of the early 1930s was really taking wing. It was the kind of music colored people had left behind them down South and they liked it because it was just like a letter from home. ~ Mahalia Jackson
Nomads South quotes by Mahalia Jackson
If an American is concerned only about his nation, he will not be concerned about the peoples of Asia, Africa, or South America. Is this not why nations engage in the madness of war without the slightest sense of penitence? Is this not why the murder of a citizen of your own nation is a crime, but the murder of citizens of another nation in war is an act of heroic virtue? ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.
Nomads South quotes by Martin Luther King, Jr.
The minute we leave south Lebanon we will have to erase the word Hezbollah from our vocabulary, because the whole idea of the State of Israel versus Hezbollah was sheer folly from the outset. It most certainly no longer will be relevant when Israel returns to her internationally recognized northern border. ~ Amos Oz
Nomads South quotes by Amos Oz
I cannot make myself believe that God wanted me to hate. I'm tired of violence, I've seen too much of it. I've seen such hate on the faces of too many sheriffs in the South. And I'm not going to let my oppressor dictate to me what method I must use. Our oppressors have used violence. Our oppressors have used hatred. Our oppressors have used rifles and guns. I'm not going to stoop down to their level. I want to rise to a higher level. We have a power that can't be found in Molotov cocktails. ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.
Nomads South quotes by Martin Luther King, Jr.
Only certain portions of the line had to undergo carnage in the French style, but knowledge of it was all-pervasive. Everything the 19th River Guard knew came from quiet meetings in the communications trenches, conversations with sleepless, bitter infantrymen who had been transferred up from the fiercer fighting in the south. If some of the River Guard were on the edge, many of the regular infantry had gone over it long before. Especially disturbing to the naval contingent were reports from down below that Italian troops now were shot quite casually for disciplinary reasons, and that the Italian generals, like their French counterparts, were executing men in decimations for crimes they had not committed. Men with families were pulled from the ranks along with equally mystified adolescents and put to death for acts attributed to others whom they had never seen. ~ Mark Helprin
Nomads South quotes by Mark Helprin
The American South is an authentic American Culture. Maybe the last. The north is just a Casserole Culture – a tasteless vat of leftovers, frozen peas and stale crumbs. ~ Tim Heaton
Nomads South quotes by Tim Heaton
We haven't got to the Sunflowers yet, said Michael.
No, we haven't, she said. You're right. OK, so Vincent hoped to set up an artists' studio down there in the South because he was keen to have friends and like-minded people around him.
I think he was probably lonely, said Michael. What with the ear thing and the darkness.
I think he was, too, said Dora. 1888 was the year, and he was waiting for another artist to join him, a man called Paul Gauguin. People say that, in all probability, he painted the Sunflowers as decoration for Gaugain'S room. Did lots of versions of them too, not just this. It's a lovely thought, though, isn't it? Some people say it's not true but I like to think it is. Painting flowers as a sign of friendship and welcome. Men and boys should be capable of beautiful things.
Never forget that, you two, she said, and she disappeared into the kitchen. ~ Sarah Winman
Nomads South quotes by Sarah Winman
The South Vietnamese were perhaps a little bit slow in doing things, they jump on, on the problem and they try to do themselves everything. Or, they try to have some short cuts with the, those people they were dealing with. ~ Bui Diem
Nomads South quotes by Bui Diem
I pray for my nation, South Africa. As Jesus stood in the boat and commanded the storms to be calm, I stand in the midst of the storm in my nation, South Africa and I command the storm, wind and waves to be calm, in the name of Jesus! I speak calmness to my nation, South Africa, in the name of Jesus! ~ T. B. Joshua
Nomads South quotes by T. B. Joshua
Yet civil rights issues are very much on the front burner in South Carolina between the Black Lives Matter movement and police shootings. ~ Ari Shapiro
Nomads South quotes by Ari Shapiro
Over the years, I've traveled to many places for inspiration and research, including Pennsylvania, Ohio, South Carolina, California, and Hawaii. ~ Jennifer Chiaverini
Nomads South quotes by Jennifer Chiaverini
Two great areas of deafness existed in the South: White Southerners had no ears to hear that which threatened their Dream. And colored Southerners had none to hear that which could reduce their anger. ~ Sarah-Patton Boyle
Nomads South quotes by Sarah-Patton Boyle
The only authority I respect is the one that causes butterflies to fly south in fall and north in springtime. ~ Tom Robbins
Nomads South quotes by Tom Robbins
All you have to do is look south to get me hard. ~ Victoria Vane
Nomads South quotes by Victoria Vane
It's hard to make people care again once you've taught them not to. It's hard to tell people that you need them, once you've told them you don't. ~ Charlotte Eriksson
Nomads South quotes by Charlotte Eriksson
South Jersey is home to Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, one of the finest military installations in the world, and it was my honor to represent the base and all of those who serve there. ~ Jon Runyan
