It does not appear to me that my hand is unworthy your acceptance, or that the establishment I can offer would be any other than highly desirable. ~ Jane Austen
Mr Collins quotes by Jane Austen
You must give me leave to flatter myself, my dear cousin, that your refusal of my addresses is merely words of course. My reasons for believing it are briefly these: -- It does not appear to me that my hand is unworthy your acceptance, or that the establishment I can offer would be any other than highly desirable. My situation in life, my connections with the family of De Bourgh, and my relationship to your own, are circumstances highly in its favor; and you should take it into farther consideration that in spite of your manifold attractions, it is by no means certain that another offer of marriage may ever be made you. Your portion is unhappily so small that it will in all likelihood undo the effects of your loveliness and amiable qualifications. As I must therefore conclude that you are not serious in your rejection of me, I shall chuse to attribute it to your wish of increasing my love by suspense, according to the usual practice of elegant females.
(Mr. Collins, after proposing to Elizabeth Bennet and being refused, in Pride and Prejudice.) ~ Jane Austen
Mr Collins quotes by Jane Austen
My dear, do not give way to such gloomy thoughts. Let us hope for better things. Let us flatter ourselves that Mr. Collins, who seems always eager to talk of Heaven, may be dispatched there by a horde of zombies before I am dead. ~ Seth Grahame-Smith
Mr Collins quotes by Seth Grahame-Smith
Engaged to Mr. Collins! My dear Charlotte - impossible! ~ Jane Austen
Mr Collins quotes by Jane Austen
Your mother will never see you again if you do not marry Mr. Collins, and I will never see you again if you do; for I shall not have my best warrior resigned to the service of a man who is fatter than Buddha and duller than the edge of a learning sword. ~ Seth Grahame-Smith
Mr Collins quotes by Seth Grahame-Smith
But Elizabeth was not formed for ill-humour; and though every prospect of her own was destroyed for the evening, it could not dwell long on her spirits; and having told all her griefs to Charlotte Lucas, whom she had not seen for a week, she was soon able to make a voluntary transition to the oddities of her cousin, and to point him out to her particular notice. The first two dances, however, brought a return of distress; they were dances of mortification. Mr. Collins, awkward ~ Jane Austen
Mr Collins quotes by Jane Austen
And though it would not be long before even the daft Mr. Collins would discover her condition, and be forced to behead her, she did not seem to ask for compassion. Her home and her housekeeping, her parish and her poultry, and her ever deepening lust for tender morsels of savory brains had not yet lost their charm. ~ Seth Grahame-Smith
Mr Collins quotes by Seth Grahame-Smith
If you repose your trust in anything, Mr. Collins, you can rely on her. She may whisk you in the night as on a broom and frighten the wits out of you, but what she swears to do, she will do. And she is very fond of her maid. ~ Kerry Greenwood
Mr Collins quotes by Kerry Greenwood
Very well. We now come to the point. Your mother insists upon your accepting it. Is it not so, Mrs. Bennet?" Mrs. Bennet clenched both her fists. "Yes, or I will never see her again!" she sobbed. "An unhappy alternative is before you, Elizabeth." Mr. Bennet tsk-tsked. "From this day you must be a stranger to one of your parents. Your mother will never see you again if you do not marry Mr. Collins, and I will never see you again if you do." Lizzy shared a warm smile with her dad. She double-tapped her chest, he double-tapped his, and they did their super secret Favorite Daughter-Daddy handshake. Mrs. Bennet, at the sight of it, broke into sobs anew, and Mr. Collins quietly disappeared down the road, muttering that he would be spending the remainder of his visit at Lucas Lodge, if anybody gave a shit. Which emphatically they did not. ~ J.K. Really
Mr Collins quotes by J.K. Really
It is happy for you that you possess the talent of flattering with delicacy. May I ask whether these pleasing attentions proceed from the impulse of the moment, or are they the result of previous study? ~ Jane Austen
Mr Collins quotes by Jane Austen
Mr. Collins shook his head. "Stay off the roof," he ordered. Then he paused. "Stay off all the roofs." The fact that he felt he had to make that clarification told me a great deal about Asher Rhodes. ~ Jennifer Lynn Barnes
Mr Collins quotes by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
When Mr. Collins could be forgotten, there was really an air of great comfort throughout, and by Charlotte's evident enjoyment of it, Elizabeth supposed he must be often forgotten. ~ Jane Austen
Mr Collins quotes by Jane Austen
Elizabeth soon perceived, that though this great lady was not in commission of the peace of the county, she was a most active magistrate in her own parish, the minutest concerns of which were carried to her by Mr. Collins; and whenever any of the cottagers were disposed to be quarrelsome, discontented, or too poor, she sallied forth into the village to settle their differences, silence their complaints, and scold them into harmony and plenty. ~ Jane Austen
Mr Collins quotes by Jane Austen
Words were insufficient for the elevation of his [Mr Collins'] feelings; and he was obliged to walk about the room, while Elizabeth tried to unite civility and truth in a few short sentences. ~ Jane Austen
Mr Collins quotes by Jane Austen
Mr. Collins was to attend them, at the request of Mr. Bennet, who was most anxious to get rid of him, and have his library to himself ~ Jane Austen
Mr Collins quotes by Jane Austen

Mr Collins quotes by Karen Aminadra
He narrowed his eyes. 'Are you comparing me to Mr Collins?' As he recalled it, that man's courtships had been hasty and ludicrous.

Mr Collins quotes by Jackie Collins
We are off! And do we know it, not just because the world is yelling "Lift-off" in our ears, but because the seats of our pants tell us so! Trust your instruments, not your body, the modern pilot is always told, but this beast is best felt. Shake, rattle and roll! ~ Michael Collins
Mr Collins quotes by Michael Collins
A rose petal so soft I can't feel where it begins. ~ Bridget Collins
Mr Collins quotes by Bridget Collins

Mr Collins quotes by Suzanne Collins
I know somebody from university who's called Phil Collins, and I think there's something terribly unfortunate about sharing a name with somebody who either is famous or becomes famous. ~ David Walliams
Mr Collins quotes by David Walliams
Don't try to fix the students, fix ourselves first. The good teacher makes the poor student good and the good student superior. When our students fail, we, as teachers, too, have failed. ~ Marva Collins
Mr Collins quotes by Marva Collins
Until kids decide, 'I am a miracle. I am unique. There is no one else exactly like me,' they can never draw the conclusion, 'Because I'm a miracle, I will never harm another person who's a miracle like me.' In this slippery world, they all need something to hang on to. ~ Marva Collins
Mr Collins quotes by Marva Collins
When you are at your lowest in life, no matter where you're at, you have to keep on going. You can't quit. You can't let it break you. You have to keep going on because life keeps going on and you have to keep going if you want to be the person you want to be. ~ La'el Collins
Mr Collins quotes by La'el Collins
We fought, Wilkie Collins and I. We fought bitterly and with all our might, to a standstill, over a period of about three weeks, on trains and aeroplanes and by hotel swimming pools. Sometimes – usually late at night, in bed – he could put me out cold with a single paragraph; every time I got through twenty or thirty pages, it felt to me as though I'd socked him good, but it took a lot out of me, and I had to retire to my corner to wipe the blood and sweat off my reading glasses. Only in the last fifty-odd pages, after I'd landed several of these blows, did old Wilkie show any signs buckling under the assault. ~ Nick Hornby
Mr Collins quotes by Nick Hornby
How do you give smart, accomplished, ambitious women the same opportunities as men to reach their goals? What about universal preschool and after-school programs? What about changing the corporate mind-set about the time commitment it takes to move up the ladder? What about having more husbands step up and take the major load? ~ Gail Collins
Mr Collins quotes by Gail Collins
I am not failing - I am growing! Do you have the ability to reframe failure as growth in order to achieve your goals? ~ James C. Collins
Mr Collins quotes by James C. Collins
Success doesn't come to yo, YOU GO TO IT. ~ Marwa Collins
Mr Collins quotes by Marwa Collins
Women gain social influence through their roles as mothers, transmitters of culture, and parents for the next generation. ~ Patricia Hill Collins
Mr Collins quotes by Patricia Hill Collins
The only way to deliver to the people who are achieving is to not burden them with the people who are not achieving. ~ James C. Collins
Mr Collins quotes by James C. Collins
What must it be like, I wonder, to live in a world where food appears at the press of a button? How would I spend the hours I now commit to combing the woods for sustenance if it were so easy to come by? What do they do all day, these people in the Capitol, besides decorating their bodies and waiting around for a new shipment of tributes to rill in and die for their entertainment? ~ Suzanne Collins
Mr Collins quotes by Suzanne Collins
Healers. My father got to know my mother because on his hunts he would sometimes collect medicinal ~ Suzanne Collins
Mr Collins quotes by Suzanne Collins
Love does not appear with any warning signs. You fall into it as if pushed from a high diving board. ~ Jackie Collins

And when again it's morning, they' ll wash away. Here it's safe, here it's warm Here the daisies guard you from every harm ~ Suzanne Collins
Mr Collins quotes by Suzanne Collins
The detective story, as created by Poe, is something as specialised and as intellectual as a chess problem, whereas the best English detective fiction has relied less on the beauty of the mathematical problem and much more on the intangible human element. [ ... ] In The Moonstone the mystery is finally solved, not altogether by human ingenuity, but largely by accident. Since Collins, the best heroes of English detective fiction have been, like Sergeant Cuff, fallible. ~ T. S. Eliot
Mr Collins quotes by T. S. Eliot
I'm extremely humbled, I'm happy and I'm blessed, because at the end of the day, I'm doing what I love to do. ~ La'el Collins
Mr Collins quotes by La'el Collins

"Not like this," Haymitch says. "He wanted it to be real. ~ Suzanne Collins
Mr Collins quotes by Suzanne Collins
I never thought I was particularly good looking. But when I see old photographs, I realise that I was. I do wish I had known that at the time because beauty is power. I didn't realise how lucky I was to be young, beautiful and in Hollywood. It didn't hit me. Every day I woke up, went to the film studio and just got on with it. ~ Joan Collins
Mr Collins quotes by Joan Collins
I'm ordered to a week of bed rest and I don't object because I feel so lousy. Not just my heel and my tailbone. My whole body aches with exhaustion. So I let my mother doctor me and feed me breakfast in bed and tuck another quilt around me. Then I just lie there, staring out my window at the winter sky, pondering how on earth this will all turn out. ~ Suzanne Collins
Mr Collins quotes by Suzanne Collins
A pod's activated ahead of us, releasing a gush of steam that parboils everyone in its path, leaving the victims intestine-pink and very dead. ~ Suzanne Collins
Mr Collins quotes by Suzanne Collins
More often than not in poetry I find difficulty to be gratuitous and show-offy and camouflaging, experimental to a kind of insane degree - a difficulty which really ignores the possibility of having a sensible reader. ~ Billy Collins
Mr Collins quotes by Billy Collins
Genes are effectively one-dimensional. If you write down the sequence of A, C, G and T, that's kind of what you need to know about that gene. But proteins are three-dimensional. They have to be because we are three-dimensional, and we're made of those proteins. Otherwise we'd all sort of be linear, unimaginably weird creatures. ~ Francis Collins
Mr Collins quotes by Francis Collins
Later that week, I was bicycling down a pavement in the City of London when I passed a company called DLE, which stands for Davis Langdon & Everest.
Hmm, I thought, as I skidded to a halt.
I took a deep breath and then confidently walked into their ultraclean, ultrasmart reception, and asked to be put through to the CEO's office, saying it was both urgent and confidential.
Once I had the CEO's secretary on the line, I pleaded with her to help me get just two minutes of her boss's time.
Eventually after three attempts, due to a combination of pity and intrigue, she agreed to ask the CEO to see me for "literally two minutes."
Bingo.
I was escorted into a lift and then ushered into the calm of the CEO's top-floor office. I was very nervous.
The two head guys, Paul Morrell and Alastair Collins, came in, looking suspiciously at this scruffy youngster holding a pamphlet. (They later described it as one of the worst-laid-out proposals they had ever seen.)
But they both had the grace to listen.
By some miracle, they caught the dream and my enthusiasm, and for the sake of £10,000 (which to me was the world, but to them was a marketing punt), they agreed to back my attempt to put the DLE flag on top of the world.
I promised an awesome photograph for their boardroom.
We stood up, shook hands, and we have remained great friends ever since.
I love deals like that. ~ Bear Grylls
Mr Collins quotes by Bear Grylls
I don't want anyone with me today. Not even him. Some walks you have to take alone. ~ Suzanne Collins
Mr Collins quotes by Suzanne Collins

Mr Collins quotes by Judy Collins
