Defeat the warriors of patience and time with Cosmic Ordering. ~ Stephen Richards
Martinmas Time quotes by Stephen Richards
children spend their time for they think they have more time; adults cry over their time for they see they have less time ~ Ernest Agyemang Yeboah
Martinmas Time quotes by Ernest Agyemang Yeboah
Once you decide that strangers are more than just dangerous accidents waiting to happen, you will find yourself able to listen. How much sadness could be averted by taking the time to notice all the people we have come to ignore? Would we in fact be safer and not more at risk if we asked someone to voice his feelings rather than wait until he looked for other means of making himself heard? ~ Ann Patchett
Martinmas Time quotes by Ann Patchett
I enjoyed my time in the WRAF. There were plenty of people at the airfields where I worked, and they were all very good company. ~ Florence Green
Martinmas Time quotes by Florence Green
Ann- You're kind of cute when you are trying to figure out how to kill time. Paul- Cute? ~ Dee Henderson
Martinmas Time quotes by Dee Henderson
There are certain things about my game I don't want to change, but I think it's about time that I realized I can't fight every battle. Three hundred minutes in penalties is way too many. Way too many. ~ Rick Tocchet
Martinmas Time quotes by Rick Tocchet
In thinking about miracles, I believe that our frame of reference has been too dramatic. We have been looking for the burning bush, the parting of the sea, the bellowing voice from heaven. Instead we should be looking at the ordinary day-to-day events in our lives for evidence of the miraculous, maintaining at the same time a scientific orientation. ~ M. Scott Peck
Martinmas Time quotes by M. Scott Peck
Author and screenwriter Neil Gaiman, in a 2012 commencement address at the University of the Arts, said that excellence in business can be boiled down to three simple things: 1. Be Efficient: Turn in work on time. 2. Be Effective: Do great work. 3. Be Congenial: Be a pleasure to work with.1 Gaiman added that even mastering two of the three will take you far. If you do great work and are a pleasure to work with, most people will forgive you for missing a deadline. If you're always on time and a pleasure to work with, most people put up with less than perfect work. If you turn in great work on time, most people will put up with you being unpleasant. ~ Brad Lomenick
Martinmas Time quotes by Brad Lomenick
It is time to give ourselves to the Master and allow Him to lead us into fruitful fields where we can enrich a world filled with darkness and misery. Each of us, no matter who we are, no matter where we serve, must arise and make the most of each opportunity that comes. ~ Mary Ellen W. Smoot
Martinmas Time quotes by Mary Ellen W. Smoot
The furniture would have missed you?
Furniture's knowing all right. Not much gets past the things in a room, I daresay, and chairs and tables don't go to the grave so soon. Every time I take the soft cloth to that stuff in the drawingroom, I could say, 'Well, you know a bit more'. ~ Elizabeth Bowen
Martinmas Time quotes by Elizabeth Bowen
Just as there was a first instant when someone rubbed two sticks together to make a spark, there was a first time joy was felt, and a first time for sadness. For a while, new feelings were being invented all the time. Desire was born early, as was regret. When stubbornness was felt for the first time, it started a chain reaction, creating the feeling of resentment on the one hand, and alienation and loneliness on the other. It might have been a certain counterclockwise movement of the hips that marked the birth of ecstasy; a bolt of lightening that caused the feeling of awe. Contrary to logic, the feeling of surprise wasn't born immediately. It only came after people had enough time to get used to things as they were. And when enough time had passed, and someone felt the first feeling of surprise, someone, somewhere else, felt the first pang of nostalgia. ~ Nicole Krauss
Martinmas Time quotes by Nicole Krauss
When we get hurt, our bodies immediately start trying to heal that hurt. This works for emotions as well. If we were scarred socially, by an incident of rejection or bullying, we immediately start trying to heal. Like pus comes out of wounds, emotions flow from psychological wounds.

And what do we really need at that moment? When we are out of that dangerous situation that scarred us, and we become triggered by some little thing - what do we need? Do we need someone to look at us and say, "Wow, you're really sensitive, aren't you?" or "Hey, man, I didn't mean it like that."? Do we need someone to justify their actions or tell us to take it easy, because the situation didn't really require such a reaction?

And, from ourselves, do we really need four pounds of judgment with liberal helpings of shame? Do we need to run away, to suppress, to hate our "over-sensitivity" to situations that seem innocuous to others?

No. We do not need all of these versions of rejection of a natural healing process. You would not feel shame over a wound doing what it must do to heal, nor would you shame another. So why do we do this to our heart wounds? Why do we do it to ourselves? To others?

Next time some harmless situation triggers you or someone around you into an intense emotion - realize it's an attempt at emotional healing. Realize the danger is no longer there, but don't suppress the healing of old dangers and old pains. Allow the pain. Don't react ~ Vironika Tugaleva
Martinmas Time quotes by Vironika Tugaleva
We are made of stardust, our whole body consists of material that has been here before the beginning of time. ~ Giorgio A. Tsoukalos
Martinmas Time quotes by Giorgio A. Tsoukalos
When you come to America, it's a very serious thing. It's not like you arrive and they say, 'Hey, come on! Do movies!' I can't just be hopping around. I have to focus and be still and make sure that I put the time and effort in. Because if I don't, I could lose it like that. ~ Maggie Q
Martinmas Time quotes by Maggie Q
The worst thing you want is a willy-nilly judge who is swayed by the political whims of the era or the time. What you want is a judge who is thinking about what he or she is doing and is thinking about it in a principled way. ~ Sonia Sotomayor
Martinmas Time quotes by Sonia Sotomayor
After all, it is clear that the entire history of mankind, insofar as we know it, is the history of transition from nomadic to increasingly settled forms of existence. And does it not follow that the most settled form (ours) is at the same time the most perfect (ours) ? ~ Yevgeny Zamyatin
Martinmas Time quotes by Yevgeny Zamyatin
I am always looking for rainbows, literally and metaphorically, only that I am starting to think that I could learn more from my journey if, from time to time, I were brave enough to stay in the rain longer. ~ Luigina Sgarro
Martinmas Time quotes by Luigina Sgarro
If I have learned one thing in the years of my existence, one nugget of wisdom from having lived in the midst of disputations over faith and the nature of the world, it is that everything ends. This is both the blessing and the punishment of God upon the foolish tribe that calls itself man. We can embrace the end or we can weep, but the ghost of time closes all doors with a finality that can never be gainsaid. ~ Kamran Pasha
Martinmas Time quotes by Kamran Pasha
Most thoughtful,"...[he said] politely. This cheerfulness was ambiguous, Had she determined to ignore ...[the] coup entirely--an established tactic, most irritating to the innovator but hard to sustain over long periods of time--or had she already evolved her counter-strategy? ~ Tom Holt
Martinmas Time quotes by Tom Holt
Spirits were seen to be very much part of the everyday world, and you were accosted by spirits all the time. It's only really quite recently that we've relegated the fantastic as being just imagination and not real and having no purpose. ~ Brian Froud
Martinmas Time quotes by Brian Froud
We were nostalgic for a time that wasn't yet over. ~ Nina LaCour
Martinmas Time quotes by Nina LaCour
Whatever you believe, and however, each of us deals with these events in our lives, one thing is for certain the truism, time is a great healer, is of no consolation at that moment of intense, all-consuming grief.

From GLASS HALF FULL ~ Sarah Jane Butfield
Martinmas Time quotes by Sarah Jane Butfield
Intellectually speaking, people love you with the capacity that they have at that time. ~ Germany Kent
Martinmas Time quotes by Germany Kent
When you explain to people what you're trying to do, as opposed to just making demands or delegating tasks, you can build instant trust, even if it's just for that short time you're on the phone. ~ Simon Sinek
Martinmas Time quotes by Simon Sinek
Making good design is easy. It's polishing the half-assed stuff that takes time. ~ Stefan G. Bucher
Martinmas Time quotes by Stefan G. Bucher
J. J. Abrams is a director that I've admired for a long time, from the very first scripts he wrote - including 'Regarding Henry,' which I was in. ~ Harrison Ford
Martinmas Time quotes by Harrison Ford
There are three reasons why I live in Scotland. First, I like silence, and you have to be a millionaire to buy silence in Italy. Second, I like cold weather. Third, in Italy I have too many relatives and know too many people, so I never get a quiet time. ~ Gian Carlo Menotti
Martinmas Time quotes by Gian Carlo Menotti
History will see advertising as one of the real evil things of our time. It is stimulating people constantly to want things, want this, want that. ~ Malcolm Muggeridge
Martinmas Time quotes by Malcolm Muggeridge
It was now Frodo's turn to feel pleased with himself. He capered about on the table; and when he came up a second time to the cow jumped over the Moon, he leaped in the air. Much too vigorously; for he came down, bang, into a tray full of mugs, and slipped, and rolled off the table with a crash, clatter, and bump! The audience all opened their mouths wide for laughter, and stopped short in gaping silence; for the singer disappeared. He simply vanished, as if he had gone slap through the floor without leaving a hole! ~ J.R.R. Tolkien
Martinmas Time quotes by J.R.R. Tolkien
Jesus Christ was the only one capable of performing the magnificent Atonement because He was the only perfect man and the Only Begotten Son of God the Father. He received His commission for this essential work from His Father before the world was established. His perfect mortal life devoid of sin, the shedding of His blood, His suffering in the garden and upon the cross, His voluntary death, and the Resurrection of His body from the tomb made possible a full Atonement for people of every generation and time. ~ Cecil O. Samuelson
Martinmas Time quotes by Cecil O. Samuelson
Have you spent so much time in the darkness that you cannot understand the light? ~ Seth Adam Smith
Martinmas Time quotes by Seth Adam Smith
I wouldn't say "art" as much as "virtue," in the ancient Greek sense of "andreia" – manly action – or "arete," excellence. In my experience, Resistance kicks in any time we try to move ourselves from a lower plane to a higher. In other words, when we try to align with the better parts of our nature. This move can be creative (art) or physical (athletics) or it can be ethical, moral or spiritual. Have you ever tried to meditate? I have and it kicks my butt every time. Spiritual stuff is hard! But so is making "cold calls" if you're opening a new business. Somehow the principle is the same. We're trying to overcome our natural laziness, selfishness, sloppiness, etc. So I wouldn't say "art," I'd say "virtue. ~ Steven Pressfield
Martinmas Time quotes by Steven Pressfield
It seems to me, as time goes on, that the only thing that is worth seeking for is to know and to be known by Christ
a privilege open alone to the childlike, who, with receptivity, guilelessness, and humility, move Godward. ~ Charles Brent
Martinmas Time quotes by Charles Brent
We have been in recess since July, and during that time there have been a fuel crisis, a Danish no vote, the collapse of the Euro and a war in the middle east, but what is our business tomorrow? The Insolvency Bill [Lords]. It ought be called the Bankruptcy Bill [Commons], because we play no role. ~ Tony Benn
Martinmas Time quotes by Tony Benn
Sorry about the blood in your mouth. I wish it was mine.
I couldn't get the boy to kill me, but I wore his jacket for the longest time. ~ Richard Siken
Martinmas Time quotes by Richard Siken
The Southbank Centre Unlimited Festival was a distinct moment in time, an amazing counterpoint to the London 2012 Paralympics. There is no question that a major shift in perspective is taking place, that the world is waking up and greeting - as if for the first time - the extraordinary community of people with disability. ~ Charles Hazlewood
Martinmas Time quotes by Charles Hazlewood
I was attracted to her from the first time we talked, and soon there was no turning back. For a long time she was the only thing I could think about. I tried to tell her how I felt, but somehow the feelings and the right words couldn't connect. Maybe it was for the best. ~ Haruki Murakami
Martinmas Time quotes by Haruki Murakami
If you spend a lot of time thinking about your problems, they'll grow bigger and stronger. Is that what you want? Of course not!Instead, focus on your goals. Start your day with them at the front of your mind, and use notes to recall them strategically throughout your day. ~ Les Brown
