At some point in your adult life, you've probably walked into a party and felt a frisson of relief upon discovering at least one woman there who was fatter, uglier, and/or dressed more inappropriately than you. We sure have. But if you want to have any hope of making peace with your own body, you need to knock that shit off.

We're not even telling you to stop just because it's nasty, petty, and beneath you to judge other women so harshly; it is, but because you're not a saint, and neither are we. We're telling you to stop because it's actually in your own self-interest to stop being such a bitch. 'Cause you know what happens when you quit saying that crap about other women? You magically stop saying it about yourself so much, too.

Judging other women negatively creates a constant stream of nasty thoughts in your head. It is inevitable that you will end up applying those same standards to yourself. We think we're building ourselves up when we do this but, really, we're just tearing other people down to our level. And we hate to go all Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood on you, but tearing other people down isn't really productive. It leaves you in the same place you started, which is full of loathing for your own body. ~ Marianne Kirby
Marianne Kirby quotes by Marianne Kirby
My father belonged to a commune, and the food was ghastly. My idea of food hell is the salad cream they'd pour all over bits of lettuce, cucumber and tomato. It was just disgusting. ~ Marianne Faithfull
Marianne Kirby quotes by Marianne Faithfull
My name is Kirby Rose, and I'm adopted. I don't mean to make it sound like an AA confession, although sometimes that's how people take it, like it's something they should be supportive about. I just mean that they are two basic facts about me. ~ Emily Giffin
Marianne Kirby quotes by Emily Giffin

Marianne Kirby quotes by Marianne Moore

Marianne Kirby quotes by Kirby Crow
When you are 18, 19, 20, you're used to being photographed all the time, in a certain way. So, the narcissism becomes almost out of control. And the way that young women are photographed, they become addicted to this feedback of the image. ~ Marianne Faithfull
Marianne Kirby quotes by Marianne Faithfull
Forgiveness is the ultimate preventive medicine, as well as the greatest healer. ~ Marianne Williamson
Marianne Kirby quotes by Marianne Williamson
Confidence cannot change my appearance."
"It may not change your appearance, but it can change how you are perceived. ~ Matthew J. Kirby
Marianne Kirby quotes by Matthew J. Kirby
Two paths lie ahead of today's CIOs. One leads to becoming a trusted senior executive leader of the enterprise; the other leads to a technical management, "just keep the lights on and do it cheap" role. ~ Marianne Broadbent
Marianne Kirby quotes by Marianne Broadbent
Excess is the common substitute for energy. ~ Marianne Moore
Marianne Kirby quotes by Marianne Moore
God isn't separate from us, because He's the love inside our minds. Every problem, inside and out, is due to a separation from love on someone's part. Thirty-five thousand people a day die of hunger on earth, and there's no dearth of food. The question is not 'what kind of God would let children starve?' but rather, 'What kind of people let children starve?' ~ Marianne Williamson
Marianne Kirby quotes by Marianne Williamson
There is nowhere you need go to find God, for God is within you. There is no one you need ask if you are good enough, for He has already established He is exceedingly well pleased. ~ Marianne Williamson
Marianne Kirby quotes by Marianne Williamson

Marianne Kirby quotes by Marianne Williamson
God is a peaceful ground of being. He is the energy of nonviolence. To ask Him to help is to ask Him to turn us into profoundly peaceful people. ~ Marianne Williamson
Marianne Kirby quotes by Marianne Williamson
In our society, as people pass out of young adulthood, they tend to relate to themselves more in terms of what they are no longer than what they are now, and that's psychologically low-grade devastating. ~ Marianne Williamson
Marianne Kirby quotes by Marianne Williamson
Shelly's jaws dropped. For a moment, she wondered if Bo and Luke Duke would come skidding down the road in the General Lee because Marianne was doing her best to look like their cousin Daisy. ~ Trish Milburn
Marianne Kirby quotes by Trish Milburn

Marianne Kirby quotes by Jack Kirby
Our key to transforming anything lies in our ability to reframe it. ~ Marianne Williamson
Marianne Kirby quotes by Marianne Williamson

Marianne Kirby quotes by William Kirby
It's a strange, surreal thing to watch an ideal crumble right in front of your eyes, and to know there's absolutely nothing you can do about it. ~ Jessi Kirby
Marianne Kirby quotes by Jessi Kirby
The world we live in pictures a pie with only so many pieces, and if other people have more you have less, and you have to compete with other people in order to try to get ahead. You have to sell yourself at every available opportunity. The shift, the enlightened shift, has to do with a movement from competition to collaboration, from sales to service, from ambition to inspiration, and to a belief in scarcity to a belief in abundance as an eternal spiritual quality. ~ Marianne Williamson
Marianne Kirby quotes by Marianne Williamson
The world is terrified of joyful women. Make a stand. Be one anyway. ~ Marianne Williamson
Marianne Kirby quotes by Marianne Williamson
The religious stories, the religious truths, the spiritual principles - obviously, they don't change. But as you get older and you experience more, you recognize the applicability, the profundity, and the fundamental truths of spiritual principles in ways that you couldn't when you simply were living a less dimensional life. ~ Marianne Williamson
Marianne Kirby quotes by Marianne Williamson
It's hard to know whether Marianne likes to hear those things; she desires to hear them, but she's conscious by now of being able to desire in some sense what she does not want. ~ Sally Rooney
Marianne Kirby quotes by Sally Rooney
Giuseppe would miss them as well, but in a different way than he would miss the city. A city would stay the same. The same buildings. The same streets. Not forever, but for a great long while. But Frederick and Hannah would never again be the people they were right now, standing on the dock, wishing him farewell. Tomorrow they would wake up and be a little bit different and a little bit different the day after that, and in no time they might become people he did not recognize. Giuseppe knew it because they were already different from when he had first met them. He knew it because he was different from when they had first met him. ~ Matthew J. Kirby
Marianne Kirby quotes by Matthew J. Kirby
A healthy, vital society is not one in which we all agree. It is one in which those who disagree can do so with honor and respect for other people's opinions ... and an appreciation of our shared humanity. ~ Marianne Williamson
Marianne Kirby quotes by Marianne Williamson
Looking for Mr. Right leads to desperation, because there is no Mr. Right. There is no Mr. Right, because there is no Mr. Wrong. There is whoever is in front of us and the perfect lessons to be learned from that person. ~ Marianne Williamson
Marianne Kirby quotes by Marianne Williamson
When I found out my mother wanted me to marry a rich man, I instantly didn't want any rich man. ~ Marianne Faithfull
Marianne Kirby quotes by Marianne Faithfull
It's not in the draftsmanship, it's in the man. Like I say, a tool is dead. A brush is a dead object. It's in the man. If you want to do it, you do it. ~ Jack Kirby
Marianne Kirby quotes by Jack Kirby
The self does not realize itself most fully when self-realization is its most constant aim. ~ Marianne Moore
Marianne Kirby quotes by Marianne Moore
She has that kind of manic focus about her, like if she just keeps moving, the things she's upset about can't catch her. ~ Jessi Kirby
Marianne Kirby quotes by Jessi Kirby

Marianne Kirby quotes by Marianne Moore

Marianne Kirby quotes by Marianne Williamson
Midlife is not the time to disenchant ourselves. It's a time to turn on all our magic in full force. ~ Marianne Williamson
Marianne Kirby quotes by Marianne Williamson
The process of miraculous change is twofold. One: I see my error or dysfunctional pattern. Two: I ask God to take it from me. The first principle without the second is impotent. As they say in Alcoholics Anonymous, your best thinking got you here. You're the problem but you're not the answer. The second principle isn't enough to change us either. The Holy Spirit can't take from us what we will not release to him. He won't work without our consent. He cannot remove our character defects without our willingness, because that would be violating our free will. We chose those patterns, however mistakenly, and he will not force us to give them up. In asking God to heal us, we're committing to the choice to be healed. ~ Marianne Williamson
Marianne Kirby quotes by Marianne Williamson
The only time I ever really consider retiring is when I get fed up with the press. Which is often. ~ Marianne Faithfull
Marianne Kirby quotes by Marianne Faithfull
I think it's unfortunate how many people today try to build up their own careers by denigrating the work of others. ~ Marianne Williamson
Marianne Kirby quotes by Marianne Williamson
Always resignation and acceptance. Always prudence and honour and duty. Elinor, where is your heart? ~ Jane Austen
Marianne Kirby quotes by Jane Austen
The pain you are going through is not what will determine your future; your future will be determined by who you are as you go through your pain. ~ Marianne Williamson
Marianne Kirby quotes by Marianne Williamson
Light is to darkness what love is to fear; in the presence of one, the other disappears. All the darkness in my life - the fears, neuroses, dysfunctions, and diseases - are not so much things as the absence of things. They represent not the presence of a problem but rather the absence of the answer. And the answer is love. All fearful manifestations disappear in the presence of love. ~ Marianne Williamson
Marianne Kirby quotes by Marianne Williamson
I'm a member of the African diaspora: my parents left the Caribbean and came to London for a better life. ~ Marianne Jean-Baptiste
Marianne Kirby quotes by Marianne Jean-Baptiste
Sometimes we think, "We're the only people who see it this way," but that's really not the case. ~ Marianne Williamson
Marianne Kirby quotes by Marianne Williamson
The child exasperated Marianne with her endless obsession with possession. She seemed to have absorbed the national sense of aggrievement, as if she, personally, were the victim of some great unfairness. ~ Jessica Shattuck
Marianne Kirby quotes by Jessica Shattuck
I take very seriously this notion that my highest job is to live a better life, all the time and to the best of my ability. I need to monitor my own progress - take my own inventory - and clean my own closet. I am trying to do all that. ~ Marianne Williamson
Marianne Kirby quotes by Marianne Williamson
God, please use me is the most powerful affirmation we can say for an abundant career. It is the miracle-worker's prayer. Everybody wants a great job. Accept that it's already been given you. The fact that you're alive means a function has been assigned to you: open your heart to everyone and everything. That way you're a vessel of God. Don't worry about what to say or what to do. He'll let you know. ~ Marianne Williamson
