A lawyer is a gentleman that rescues your estate from your enemies and then keeps it for himself. ~ Henry Brougham, 1st Baron Brougham And Vaux
Haahr Law quotes by Henry Brougham, 1st Baron Brougham And Vaux
There is alas no law against incompetency; no striking example is made. They learn by our bodily jeopardy and make experiments until the death of the patients, and the doctor is the only person not punished for murder. ~ Pliny The Elder
Haahr Law quotes by Pliny The Elder
Writing has laws of perspective, of light and shade just as painting does, or music. If you are born knowing them, fine. If not, learn them. Then rearrange the rules to suit yourself. ~ Truman Capote
Haahr Law quotes by Truman Capote
I hold that we have a very imperfect knowledge of the works of nature till we view them as works of God, - not only as works of mechanism, but works of intelligence, not only as under laws, but under a Lawgiver, wise and good. ~ James McCosh
Haahr Law quotes by James McCosh
The policy or advantage of [immigration] taking place in a body (I mean the settling of them in a body) may be much questioned; for, by so doing, they retain the language, habits, and principles (good or bad) which they bring with them. Whereas by an intermixture with our people, they, or their descendants, get assimilated to our customs, measures, and laws: in a word, soon become one people. ~ George Washington
Haahr Law quotes by George Washington

The system is religion, the law is spirituality. Take your pick. ~ John Martel
Haahr Law quotes by John Martel
Mushari didn't see anything funny in that. He never saw anything funny in anything, so deeply immured was he by the utterly unplayful spirit of the law. ~ Kurt Vonnegut Jr.
Haahr Law quotes by Kurt Vonnegut Jr.
So far from genius discarding law, rather is it the supreme joy of genius to re-enact the eternal and unwritten law in the chamber of its own intel-lect. ~ Charles Henry Parkhurst
Haahr Law quotes by Charles Henry Parkhurst
For Indigenous Australians, equal rights and citizenship have not always translated into full participation in Australian society. All Indigenous Australians have only been counted in the census since the 1967 Referendum. Even so, State protection and welfare laws continued to control the lives of Indigenous Australians and denied them equal rights, well into the 1970's. ~ Jackie Huggins
Haahr Law quotes by Jackie Huggins
The laws of Coexistence;-the adaptation of structure to function; and to a certain extent the elucidation of natural affinities may be legitimately founded upon the examination of fully developed species;-But to obtain an insight into the laws of development,-the signification or bedeutung, of the parts of an animal body demands a patient examination of the successive stages of their development, in every group of Animals. ~ Richard Owen
Haahr Law quotes by Richard Owen
Of course politics is an interesting and engrossing thing. It offers no immutable laws, nearly always prevaricates, but as far asblather and sharpening the mind go, it provides inexhaustible material. ~ Anton Chekhov
Haahr Law quotes by Anton Chekhov
Your actions are living affirmations of what you say you believe and feel. 'Affirmative action' is when your actions are in congruence with your beliefs & feelings. You're doing it to make YOU welcome. ~ Derek Rydall
Haahr Law quotes by Derek Rydall
The truth of Moore's law has made remarkable things possible. On the software side, I think natural user interfaces in all their forms are equally significant. ~ Bill Gates
Haahr Law quotes by Bill Gates
...And unpredictability can spread: one powerful outlier can pave the way for others, and as more states joint the outlier, the foundations of the rule of law begin to crumble.

US counterterrorism practices--and the legal theories that under-pin them--are undermining the international rule of law in precisely this way... ~ Rosa Brooks
Haahr Law quotes by Rosa Brooks
We do not want the men of another color for our brothers-in-law, but we do want them for our brothers. ~ Booker T. Washington
Haahr Law quotes by Booker T. Washington
XII Do not live for death, pay it no fear or wonder. This is the firmest law of the truest faith. Death is the dew that wets the grass in the early morning dark. It is God's entirely. Withdraw your fatal homage, and live. ~ Wendell Berry
Haahr Law quotes by Wendell Berry
Man is comprised of an organism, which is to say an organised form, and of vital forces, as well as a soul. The same may be said of a people. The national construction of a state, while taking account of all three elements, for various reasons of qualification and heredity can nevertheless be chiefly based upon a single one of these elements.

In my opinion, in the Fascist movement it is the state element that prevails, coinciding with organised force. What finds expression here is the shaping power of ancient Rome, that master of law and political organisation, the purest heirs to which are the Italians. National Socialism emphasises what is connected to vital forces: race, racial instinct, and the ethical and national element. The Romanian Legionary movement instead chiefly stresses what in a living organism corresponds to the soul: the spiritual and religious aspect.

This is the reason for the distinctive character of each national movement, although ultimately all three elements are taken into account, and none is overlooked. The specific character of our movement derives from our distant heritage. Already Herodotus called our forefathers "the immortal Dacians". Our Geto-Thracian ancestors, even before Christianity, already had faith in the immortality and indestructibility of the soul – something which proves their spiritual drive. Roman colonisation introduced the Roman sense of organisation and form. Later centuries made our people miserable and di ~ Corneliu Zelea Codreanu
Haahr Law quotes by Corneliu Zelea Codreanu
When you have a wonderful mother-in-law who takes sides with you in squabbles with her own daughter - that's something. ~ Lou Gehrig
Haahr Law quotes by Lou Gehrig
At Planned Parenthood, we see the impact of abortion stigma firsthand, in the women who delay getting reproductive health care because they fear they'll be labeled and judged. We see the effect of stigma on doctors, health center staffers, and others who help provide abortion services. And we see the impact in laws that regulate and restrict abortion in ways that would never happen with any other medical procedure. ~ Cecile Richards
Haahr Law quotes by Cecile Richards
He'd never admit it, but he counted Dex among his family. Sort of like the annoying brother-in-law. You're happy he's making your bro happy, but damn, sometimes you just wanted to punch him in his stupid smiley face. Who the hell smiled that much, anyway? A crazy person, that's who. ~ Charlie Cochet
Haahr Law quotes by Charlie Cochet
Use it or lose it" is a law of nature, but mercifully "not a soul will be lost" is a law of the spirit that supersedes it. ~ Arianna Huffington
Haahr Law quotes by Arianna Huffington

Haahr Law quotes by Tom Shadyac

Haahr Law quotes by Philip Warren Anderson
The simple law of the universe is that you create your own reality ~ Julian Pencilliah
Haahr Law quotes by Julian Pencilliah
A man would have to be an idiot to write a book of laws for an apple tree telling it to bear apples and not thorns, seeing that the apple-tree will do it naturally and far better than any laws or teaching can prescribe. ~ Martin Luther
Haahr Law quotes by Martin Luther
The will is that which has all power; it makes heaven and it makes hell: for there is no hell but where the will of the creature is turned from God, nor any heaven but where the will of the creature worketh with God. ~ William Law
Haahr Law quotes by William Law

No man is a good citizen, a good neighbor, a good friend, or a good man just because he obeys the law. The intrinsic worth is determined mainly by the intrinsic make-up. ~ Clarence Darrow

So let the variety of your reality thrill you as you choose all the things you want.. get behind the good feelings of all your wants. ~ Rhonda Byrne
Haahr Law quotes by Rhonda Byrne
In the New Testament, God's steadfast love and faithfulness are seen, not in an act of deliverance from foreign enemies, but in sending the Son and raising Him from the dead to enact a global rescue mission (Romans 8:3.) Jesus is God's supreme, grand, climactic act of faithfulness. Not only that, but "faithful" also describes Jesus. Paul writes, "We know that a person is justified not by the works of the law but in faith in Jesus Christ" (Galations 2:16...). A better reading is "faithfulness of Jesus Christ" -- which is found in footnotes of many Bibles -- and the two readings couldn't be more different... Paul isn't saying, "You are not justified by your efforts but by your faith." The contrast he's making isn't between two options we have; the contrast is between your efforts and Jesus' faithfulness to you, shown in His obedient death on a Roman cross. Paul is interested in telling readers what Jesus did, Jesus' faithfulness, not what we do. God's grand act of faithfulness is giving His son for our sake. God is all in. Jesus' grand act of faithfulness is going through with it for our sake. Jesus is all in. Now it's our move, which really is the point of all this. Like God the Father and God the Son, we are also called to be faithful. On one level, we are faithful to God when we trust God, but faith (pistis) doesn't stop there. It extends, as we've seen, in faithfulness toward each other, in humility and self-sacrificial love. And here is the real kick in the pants: When we ~ Peter Enns
Haahr Law quotes by Peter Enns
Sometimes what seems so right turns out wrong and what seems so wrong turns out right. What do I call this phenomenon? Life. ~ Charles F. Glassman
Haahr Law quotes by Charles F. Glassman
The chief point we must remember is that the great and rapid advance of the physical sciences took place in fields where it proved that explanation and prediction could be based on laws which accounted for the observed phenomena as functions of comparatively few variables-either particular facts or relative frequencies of events. ~ Friedrich August Von Hayek
