T Bone and I grew up together in Fort Worth, Texas. He had his own recording studio by the time he was seventeen years old. When we were both nineteen he made the first archival recording of my voice. ~ Betty Buckley
Fort Worth quotes by Betty Buckley
You Can Fly But Your Body Can't

My first seat was in first class between Penny and Belinda. Before I poured Rémy Martin down my throat and had to come see what the folks back here think of things.

'Cool out, you know, I didn't mean it, I don't really hate you,' I hear someone say.
While, over the intercom, the pilot jabbers. He's explaining that some dysfunction, once we're on the ground, can be easily fixed with a pin. I don't know, at that point, how much any of us will care. Maybe I'm drunk, but seems like they could give the plane to the Arabs once we've all made our connecting flights.

The beer nuts just served to me in a cello packet are the most delicious food I've ever tasted in my life.
Back at Dallas-Fort Worth I put an Otis Redding CD into my player and I doubt I'll ever have a reason to take it out.
Through the window, trigonometry, under a silky pink sky. ~ Mary Robison
Fort Worth quotes by Mary Robison
The public library my parents took me to in Fort Worth had the children's section next to the SF/F section, so I was reading adult SF/F at a very young age. ~ Martha Wells
Fort Worth quotes by Martha Wells
I think I'll always live in Fort Worth. It's great that I can now go anywhere I want to play music, but I love coming back here. I can roll down the streets and just reminisce. ~ Leon Bridges
Fort Worth quotes by Leon Bridges
It was awesome growing up in New Orleans because there were great metal bands, there were great hardcore bands, there were great thrash metal bands in the middle '80s and what-not. But then, take me out of New Orleans, and I moved to Fort Worth in 1987, and there's a scene there, too. And Texas absolutely has a different sound. ~ Phil Anselmo
Fort Worth quotes by Phil Anselmo
I grew up in Texas, but that was 20 years ago. Last year, in Fort Worth, they had hail the size of softballs. We're seeing more and more powerful storms, of all types, almost on a biblical level. ~ Bill Paxton
Fort Worth quotes by Bill Paxton
The Homeric Epic does not have to be discovered inside a book; it begins just west of Fort Worth and extends all the way to Santa Monica. Wayfaring Stranger Pg. 415 ~ James Lee Burke
Fort Worth quotes by James Lee Burke
It was so weird that I would end up directing 'The Greatest Game Ever Played,' because, y'know, I'm not a big golfer myself. But I grew up around the game. My mom and dad kind of built their dream house off the 11th fairway of Shady Oaks Country Club in Fort Worth. ~ Bill Paxton
Fort Worth quotes by Bill Paxton
(Until the end of their lives, these men and women would tell stories about the summer they followed Lyndon Johnson and his Flying Windmill around Texas; as Oliver Knight of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram would write about one trip, "That mad dash from Navasota to Conroe in which I dodged stumps at 70 MPH just to keep up with that contraption will ever be green in my memory.") At the landing site, there would be the brief respite ~ Robert A. Caro
Fort Worth quotes by Robert A. Caro
I think that we should ban so-called junk guns. I think we should ban assault weapons like the weapons used here [in Fort Worth], yes. I think that the kinds of weapons that have no legitimate use for hunting or the kind of weapon that a homeowner would use, I think they should be banned, yes, those kind of weapons. ~ Al Gore
Fort Worth quotes by Al Gore
Being blunt with your feelings is very American. In this big country, I can be as brash as New York, as hedonistic as Los Angeles, as sensuous as San Francisco, as brainy as Boston, as proper as Philadelphia, as brawny as Chicago, as warm as Palm Springs, as friendly as my adopted home town of Dallas, Fort Worth, and as peaceful as the inland waterway that rubs up against my former home in Virginia Beach. ~ Martina Navratilova
Fort Worth quotes by Martina Navratilova
I'm not trying to compete with any other revival soul acts. It's just Leon Bridges, a kid from Fort Worth trying to be himself and give people hope. It's great music to dance to and just love. ~ Leon Bridges
Fort Worth quotes by Leon Bridges
I was a latecomer to romance, although I did read gothics. My father used to work for the 'Fort Worth Star-Telegram,' and their book reviewer, author Leonard Sanders, would pass on the gothics for my dad to give to me since Leonard didn't review gothics. I gobbled up books by Mary Stewart, Madeleine Brent, Victoria Holt and Phyllis Whitney. ~ Lori Wilde
Fort Worth quotes by Lori Wilde
I lived in Meadowbrook. I went to church at Meadowbrook United Methodist Church. I went to school at Meadowbrook Elementary School and then Meadowbrook Middle School. I learned to dance at Meadowbrook Country Club. All those things grounded me in one place and I think most of Fort Worth is just like the area I grew up in. ~ Kay Granger
Fort Worth quotes by Kay Granger
Many a man has a treasure in his hoard that he knows not the worth of. (Sellic Spell) ~ J.R.R. Tolkien
Fort Worth quotes by J.R.R. Tolkien
But maybe her marriage wasn't a Lexus. Maybe it was a Pinto
one of those cars famous for blowing up when rear-ended. As she waited for the mechanics to fix her car, she walked out the back door to the wrecking yard and through the aisles of totaled cars and pickups, vehicles that other people had decided weren't worth fixing. She felt just like them. She felt like that Buick with the driver's-side door so crushed that the driver was undoubtedly hurt, but from the look of the other side, the passenger likely skated through unscathed. She felt like the Saturn with the shattered windshield through which no one could see what lay ahead. It looked as if it had been sandwiched in a multicar pileup. Jill knew exactly how it felt to crash into one thing and then get smashed from behind. She studied that Saturn and wondered whether it would have been salvageable if it had only been rear-ended instead of sandwiched, and she wondered if the same was true about her marriage. ~ Kaya McLaren
Fort Worth quotes by Kaya McLaren
The price of Christmas toys is outrageous - a hundred dollars, two hundred dollars for video games for the youngsters. I remember a Christmas years ago when my son was a kid. I bought him a tank. It was about a hundred dollars, a lot of money in those days. It was the kind of tank you could actually get inside and ride in. He played in the box it came in. It taught me a very valuable lesson. Next year he got a box. And I got a hundred dollars' worth of scotch. ~ Johnny Carson
Fort Worth quotes by Johnny Carson
I am YOUR biggest fan, I love each one of you because of the support that you took to me. I know that people been saying that I do this for money, but I really don't. I do this for YOU, for your loyalty, for everything you've done, you are doing and you'll do in my life. Music has been my whole life since I was 4 years old, but you turned it into a whole experience of happiness. I know that I am not perfect, and maybe I don't worth it to put on your headphones and listen to this 14-years-old wannabe, full of ego and that brag about almost everything, but it's not about that, it's about you ~ Maat Morrison
Fort Worth quotes by Maat Morrison
My heart hurt to see her in pain and, for one second, i shut down all emotion. One day, she'd figure out she was too good for a loser like me and when she left, i didn't know how i'd deal with the pain. Hell, she was worth it. I enfolded her into my body once more, kissing the side of her neck. ~ Katie McGarry
Fort Worth quotes by Katie McGarry
So for the people in your life who have not known your worth, who have been reckless with your heart or fallen painfully short of your expectations, sincerely wish them well, forgive yourself for holding on to it and preventing yourself from really living, forgive them for their shortcomings (as well as your own), scoop up that huge beautiful life lesson and all the pieces of your heart, and sail on. You have mountains to move, dreams to dream, and a world to change, even if the only world is your own. ~ Alexis Jones
Fort Worth quotes by Alexis Jones
Hollywood is ten million dollars worth of intricate and high ingenious machinery functioning elaborately to put skin on baloney. ~ George Jean Nathan
Fort Worth quotes by George Jean Nathan
A friend is worth all hazards we can run. ~ Edward Young
Fort Worth quotes by Edward Young
[R]eductionism' is one of those things, like sin, that is only mentioned by people who are against it. To call oneself a reductionist will sound, in some circles, a bit like admitting to eating babies. But, just as nobody actually eats babies, so nobody is really a reductionist in any sense worth being against. ~ Richard Dawkins
Fort Worth quotes by Richard Dawkins
Let's get really fucked up and full of sentimental despair and then finally decide life, despite every heartbreak and anguished cry, is worth each pulse and breath. ~ Jim Dodge
Fort Worth quotes by Jim Dodge
Go where you are celebrated, not denigrated. ~ Matshona Dhliwayo
Fort Worth quotes by Matshona Dhliwayo
A beautiful mind is worth more then a pretty face ~ John David Anderson
Fort Worth quotes by John David Anderson
We may have given to us, in this life, a few things that will give us satisfaction, temporally; but the things that are eternal, the things that are "worth while", are those eternal things that we reach out for, and prepare ourselves to receive, and lay hold of by the effort that we individually make. ~ George Albert Smith
Fort Worth quotes by George Albert Smith
Guy tries to buy a gun, but when he returns, he learns he's failed the background check. 'Oh well,' the guy tells himself. 'It was worth a try.' The dealer says to the guy, 'Hold the phone, buddy. Ask a friend, your brother, your sister, anyone you know, to come in, pass the background check, and we'll sell the guns to them instead of you. What happens to them afterward is none of our business . . . ~ Mark M. Bello
Fort Worth quotes by Mark M. Bello
No man ever threw away life while it was worth keeping. ~ David Hume
Fort Worth quotes by David Hume
He may not look as tall or strong as some, but he is worth more than all of them. - Lysa ~ George R R Martin
Fort Worth quotes by George R R Martin
We're taught to love only a few people. We think it's this sacred resource, like we'll run out of it at some point. But the more you love, the more it's returned to you. Hands down. You can't argue with that."
"Maybe," I say. "Or maybe you stop giving it so freely because one day it's taken away and it hurts so much, you need to protect yourself."
She know what I'm referring to. "Until you realize love's the only think worth living for in the first place. ~ Katie Kacvinsky
Fort Worth quotes by Katie Kacvinsky
Any decision you make isn't worth a tinkers damn until you have formed the habit of making and keeping it. ~ Henry Ford
Fort Worth quotes by Henry Ford
My mother by then had already begun her own decline, her own transformation, hardening into a bitter rind of a woman who pushed through the stations of her day as though each moment were unpleasant duty; as though the currencies of joy had become so inflated they could no longer purchase anything of worth. ~ James Sallis
Fort Worth quotes by James Sallis
The one that's different often has the odds stacked against them but usually ends up with the biggest rewards so it's always worth it. ~ Torron-Lee Dewar
Fort Worth quotes by Torron-Lee Dewar
Free will, though it makes evil possible, also makes possible any love or goodness or joy worth having. ~ C.S. Lewis
Fort Worth quotes by C.S. Lewis
Tate lays her head on my arm, and we both watch her.
Our daughter.
I love you so much, Sam.
I'm looking down at the perfection we created when it hits me.
It's all worth it.
It's the beautiful moments like these that make up for the uglylove. ~ Colleen Hoover
Fort Worth quotes by Colleen Hoover
If only one little unhappy child is made happy with the love of Jesus, ... will it not be worth ... giving all for that? ~ Mother Teresa
Fort Worth quotes by Mother Teresa
I may not believe in God, but I believe in the Wow! That day you kissed me on the ledge, that was it." A light, like I'd seen in the eyes of those testifying on their faith, it lit him up.
"We're tiny out there. In a million years what we do ain't going to matter worth shit and that's still going to be there. I think the Wow will make it better. ~ James Buchanan
Fort Worth quotes by James Buchanan
Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies. The heart of her husband safely trusts her; so he will have no lack of gain. She does him good and not evil all the days of her life. PROVERBS 31:10-12 ~ Stormie O'martian
Fort Worth quotes by Stormie O'martian
The reason Saul Bellow doesn't talk to me anymore is because he knows his new novels are not worth reading. ~ Leslie Fiedler
Fort Worth quotes by Leslie Fiedler
I found myself getting more publicly shy when the gala events and big crowds started. Some people embrace it. To me, it's not worth enough to risk my private life being public. ~ Matt Damon
Fort Worth quotes by Matt Damon
Darnell had received what is called a sound commercial education, and would therefore have found very great difficulty in putting into articulate speech any thought that was worth thinking; ~ Arthur Machen
Fort Worth quotes by Arthur Machen
I believe reading books is one of the best ways to gain real empathy for people different from ourselves, and helping boys develop empathy for girls is a cause worth fighting for. ~ Shannon Hale
Fort Worth quotes by Shannon Hale
Harm reduction is often perceived as being inimical to the ultimate purpose of "curing" addiction - that is, of helping addicts transcend their habits and to heal. People regard it as "coddling" addicts, as enabling them to continue their destructive ways. It's also considered to be the opposite of abstinence, which many regard as the only legitimate goal of addiction treatment. Such a distinction is artificial. The issue in medical practice is always how best to help a patient. If a cure is possible and probable without doing greater harm, then cure is the objective. When it isn't - and in most chronic medical conditions cure is not the expected outcome - the physician's role is to help the patient with the symptoms and to reduce the harm done by the disease process.

In rheumatoid arthritis, for example, one aims to prevent joint inflammation and bone destruction and, in all events, to reduce pain. In incurable cancers we aim to prolong life, if that can be achieved without a loss of life quality, and also to control symptoms. In other words, harm reduction means making the lives of afflicted human beings more bearable, more worth living. That is also the goal of harm reduction in the context of addiction. Although hardcore drug addiction is much more than a disease, the harm reduction model is essential to its treatment. Given our lack of a systematic, evidencebased approach to addiction, in many cases it's futile to dream of a cure.
