But demons come from other worlds. They're interdimensional parasites. They come to a world and use it up. They can't build, just destroy - they can't make, only use. They drain a place to ashes and when it's dead, they move on to the next one. ~ Cassandra Clare
Flagellated Parasites quotes by Cassandra Clare
No compassion will be tolerated for the Jews. We deny the Pope's statement that there is but one human race. The Jews are parasites. ~ Robert Ley
Flagellated Parasites quotes by Robert Ley
I think that's what changed you, Beth. Your job. The film critic. Critics are parasites. They live off other people's creativity. They bring nothing into this world. They're like barren women who steal other people's babies in grocery store parking lots. Those who can't do, teach, and those who can't teach, criticize. ~ Rainbow Rowell
Flagellated Parasites quotes by Rainbow Rowell
It is a plague of unprecedented proportions. Anyone, who is unfortunate enough to become infected by its deadly parasites, is transformed into a mindless carrier with an inane desire to feed and spread the virus to other potential hosts. Even death is no escape. ~ Jason Medina
Flagellated Parasites quotes by Jason Medina
(This town) doesn't look like anything; it isn't anything. Its five tin-roofed huts cling to the skinny tracks of the Uganda Railway like parasites on a vine. ~ Beryl Markham
Flagellated Parasites quotes by Beryl Markham
I'm necessarily parasitic in a way. I have done well as a parasite. But I'm still a parasite. ~ Malcolm Gladwell
Flagellated Parasites quotes by Malcolm Gladwell
Lankester's mistake didn't stem simply from a loathing for all parasites; ~ Anonymous
Flagellated Parasites quotes by Anonymous
Suppose two-thirds of the members of the national House of Representatives were dumped into the Washington garbage incinerator tomorrow, what would we lose to offset our gain of their salaries and the salaries of their parasites? ~ H.L. Mencken
Flagellated Parasites quotes by H.L. Mencken
He is a young man with a future of power and opportunity and we are young women destined to be either wives and mothers at the very best, or spinster parasites at the worst. ~ Philippa Gregory
Flagellated Parasites quotes by Philippa Gregory
None of the harvest tales started out as parasites. They were the most powerful pieces of the narrative, once upon a time. We fought back, turned them tame, gave them names and labels that pinned them like butterflies in the textbooks of religious studies professors and folklore teachers all around the world. ~ Seanan McGuire
Flagellated Parasites quotes by Seanan McGuire
Narrow minds devoid of
imagination. Intolerance, theories cut off from reality, empty terminology, usurped
ideals, inflexible systems. Those are the things that really frighten me. What I absolutely
fear and loathe. Of course it's important to know what's right and what's wrong.
Individual errors in judgment can usually be corrected. As long as you have the courage
to admit mistakes, things can be turned around. But intolerant, narrow minds with no
imagination are like parasites that transform the host, change form, and continue to
thrive. They're a lost cause ~ Haruki Murakami
Flagellated Parasites quotes by Haruki Murakami
There's a huge swath of humanity that has developed verbal abilities to extract resources from guilt-ridden people.
They used to be priests, and now they're leftists. ~ Stefan Molyneux
Flagellated Parasites quotes by Stefan Molyneux
To please men and to kill parasites are the only uses tobacco-its ultimate effects are the same in both cases. ~ John Harvey Kellogg
Flagellated Parasites quotes by John Harvey Kellogg
Today, the United States of America is by all appearances an Israeli-occupied state. The U.S. Congress dutifully authorizes the annual payment of an immense tribute to Israel, some three thousand million dollars a year. Like a subservient colony, the United States provides hundreds of thousands of young men and women to fight and die as mercenaries in Zionist-planned wars in the Middle East. ~ Christopher Lee Bollyn
Flagellated Parasites quotes by Christopher Lee Bollyn
Protect the environment? Prevent animals from extinction? Bullshit! Why don't you just admit it! Humans shouldn't always be exploiting other creatures and thinking only about themselves! How can you 'rule over the world' like that? You think you treat us fairly? I see no justice! You call us parasittes... But we are responsible for balancing nature. You humans are the real parasites of nature! You are the monsters!
- Mayor Hirokawa ~ Hitoshi Iwaaki
Flagellated Parasites quotes by Hitoshi Iwaaki
To learn more about parasites, check out Parasite Rex, by Carl Zimmer. There are many, many books on the subject, but his is one of the most accessible jumping-on points you're likely to find. Welcome to the war. ~ Mira Grant
Flagellated Parasites quotes by Mira Grant
Dr.Costa then offered important clues to differentiate the syndrome from polio. in tick paralysis there is no fever, the spinal fluod is normal, the knee jerk and other reflexes are lost early, the patient is passive and apathetic, and, of course, the child has had a recent tick bite, or an attached tick is found. ~ Pamela Nagami
Flagellated Parasites quotes by Pamela Nagami
I began this path with a sense that an individual should be able to live in freedom among his neighbors, and not as a host for parasites, even if those parasites were endowed with power by the state. I had a sense that the individual should not be at the mercy of the bully or the mob, even if the bully or the mob was sanctioned by the state. I had a sense that if an individual was the target of aggression and I stood with him, or her, or them, I would have the satisfaction of knowing I had opposed villainy, and if others who shared my beliefs would join in the fight, then perhaps a measure at a time, evil would not prosper. I believed that each time malevolence and iniquity were thwarted the chances were increased that I could live in freedom … that I would not be at the mercy of the aggression of others."
He captured them as he looked them in the eyes across the silent hall. "The measure of success from acting on these simple truths is all around us, hangs above us in the sky, pervades the system of our sun … and may now be found among the stars."
~ William C. Samples
Flagellated Parasites quotes by William C. Samples
Rainy season should fill us with joy, not malaria parasites. ~ T.K. Naliaka
Flagellated Parasites quotes by T.K. Naliaka
...man is as much a parasite on the cow as the tapeworm is on man: We have sucked their udders like leeches. "Man the cow parasite" is probably how non-man defines man in his zoology books ~ Unbearable Lightness Of Being
Flagellated Parasites quotes by Unbearable Lightness Of Being
All over East Africa-indeed, all over Africa-it is normal for people to walk a kilometer or two or six for water. In more arid areas, people walk even greater distances, and sometimes all they find at the end is a pond slimy with overuse. More than 90 percent of Africans still dig for their water, and waterborne diseases such as typhoid, dysentery, bilharzia, and cholera are common. The bodies of many Africans are a stew of parasites. In some areas the wells are so far below the earth's surface that chains of people are required to pass up the water. ~ Marq De Villiers
Flagellated Parasites quotes by Marq De Villiers
Dreams can be parasites we sacrifice ourselves to. Dreams can be monstrous, beautiful things incubated in misery and hatched by spite. Or dreams can be the artifacts we excavate to discover who we really are. ~ Ryan La Sala
Flagellated Parasites quotes by Ryan La Sala
Councils lacking direction are breeding grounds for parasites. ~ Grant McLachlan
Flagellated Parasites quotes by Grant McLachlan
The creator's concern is the conquest of nature. The parasite's concern is the conquest of men. ~ Ayn Rand
Flagellated Parasites quotes by Ayn Rand
A Yorkshireman in the South will always take care to let you know that he regards you as an inferior. If you ask him why, he will explain that it is only in the North that life is 'real' life, that the industrial work done in the North is the only 'real' work, that the North is inhabited by 'real' people, the South merely by rentiers and their parasites. The Northerner has 'grit', he is grim, 'dour', plucky, warm-hearted and democratic; the Southerner is snobbish, effeminate and lazy - that at any rate is the theory. Hence the Southerner goes north, at any rate for the first time, with the vague inferiority-complex of a civilized man venturing among savages, while the Yorkshireman, like the Scotchman, comes to London in the spirit of a barbarian out for loot. ~ George Orwell
Flagellated Parasites quotes by George Orwell
There might be some sort of justification for the savage societies in which a man had to expect that enemies could murder him at any moment and had to defend himself as best as he could. But there can be no justification for a society in which a man is expected to manufacture the weapons for his own murderers. ~ Ayn Rand
Flagellated Parasites quotes by Ayn Rand
Miracles are like stones: they are everywhere, offering up their beauty, but hardly anyone concedes value to them. We live in a reality where prodigies abound but are seen only by those who have developed their perception of them. Without this perception everything is banal, marvelous events are seen as chance, and one progresses through life without possessing the key that is gratitude. When something extraordinary happens it is seen as a natural phenomenon that we can exploit like parasites, without giving anything in return. But miracles require an exchange; I must make that which is given to me bear fruit for others. If one is not united with oneself, the wonder cannot be captured. Miracles are never performed or provoked: they are discovered. If someone who believes himself to be blind takes off his dark glasses, he will see the light. That darkness is the prison of the rational. ~ Alejandro Jodorowsky
Flagellated Parasites quotes by Alejandro Jodorowsky
Why do ants alone have parasites whose intoxicating moistures they drink and for whom they will sacrifice even their young? Because as they are the most highly socialized of insects, so their lives are the most intolerable. ~ Cyril Connolly
Flagellated Parasites quotes by Cyril Connolly
The activities of these parasites and degenerates gave rise to Cubism, Fauvism, Futurism, Pointillism, Constructivism, Orphism, Surrealism, Dada, and also Impossibleism, Supersurrealism, Dynamic Double-Dog Realism, Ishkabibbleism, and Mama, which is like Dada only nicer. ~ Daniel Pinkwater
Flagellated Parasites quotes by Daniel Pinkwater
Philosophy in its old form could exist only in the absence of engineering, but with engineering in existence and daily more active and far reaching, the old verbalistic philosophy and metaphysics have lost their reason to exist. They were no more able to understand the "production" of the universe and life than they are now able to understand or grapple with "production" as a means to provide a happier existence for humanity. They failed because their venerated method of "speculation" can not produce, and its place must be taken by mathematical thinking. Mathematical reasoning is displacing metaphysical reasoning. Engineering is driving verbalistic philosophy out of existence and humanity gains decidedly thereby. Only a few parasites and "speculators" will mourn the disappearance of their old companion "speculation." The world of producers -the predominating majority of human beings- will welcome a philosophy of ordered thought and production. ~ Alfred Korzybski
Flagellated Parasites quotes by Alfred Korzybski
Tiny parasites inside you, big parasites outside you, people living from your work even though they stay on the other side of the world, making you do it by the force of laws and guns. Laws like mistletoe! ~ Kim Stanley Robinson
Flagellated Parasites quotes by Kim Stanley Robinson
Hope is a flatterer, but the most upright of all parasites; for she frequents the poor man's hut, as well as the palace of his superior. ~ William Shenstone
Flagellated Parasites quotes by William Shenstone
Remember that physical beauty is evolution's way of assuring us that the other person doesn't have too many intestinal parasites. ~ Ben Bernanke
Flagellated Parasites quotes by Ben Bernanke
People were like parasites burrowed into the smog. ~ Chen Quifan
Flagellated Parasites quotes by Chen Quifan
[E]very man hath liberty to write, but few ability. Heretofore learning was graced by judicious scholars, but now noble sciences are vilified by base and illiterate scribblers, that either write for vain-glory, need, to get money, or as Parasites to flatter and collogue with some great men, they put out trifles, rubbish and trash. Among so many thousand Authors you shall scarce find one by reading of whom you shall be any whit better, but rather much worse; by which he is rather infected than any way perfected…

What a catalogue of new books this year, all his age (I say) have our Frankfurt Marts, our domestic Marts, brought out. Twice a year we stretch out wits out and set them to sale; after great toil we attain nothing…What a glut of books! Who can read them? As already, we shall have a vast Chaos and confusion of Books, we are oppressed with them, our eyes ache with reading, our fingers with turning. For my part I am one of the number - one of the many - I do not deny it... ~ Robert Burton
Flagellated Parasites quotes by Robert Burton
Rule by the statist elite is not benign or simply a matter of who happens to be in office: it is rule by a growing army of leeches and parasites battening off the income and wealth of hard-working Americans, destroying their property, corrupting their customs and institutions, sneering at their religion. ~ Murray Rothbard
Flagellated Parasites quotes by Murray Rothbard
You had no right to be born; for you make no use of life. Instead of living for, in, and with yourself, as a reasonable being ought, you seek only to fasten your feebleness on some other person's strength. ~ Charlotte Bronte
Flagellated Parasites quotes by Charlotte Bronte
The malaria parasite has been killing children and sapping the strength of whole populations for tens of thousands of years. It is impossible to calculate the harm malaria has done to the world. ~ Bill Gates
Flagellated Parasites quotes by Bill Gates
Glory?
Glory is for those too weak to find their inner strength, leaving them hollow parasites, feeding on the affection of even lesser men. Glory is for cowards, too afraid to let their names die. ~ Aaron Dembski-Bowden
Flagellated Parasites quotes by Aaron Dembski-Bowden
It was this situation that led mathematician Chris Hauert and his colleagues to consider another possibility in an important evolutionary model published in Science in 2002. In Axelrod's study and in most previous theoretical models, individuals were forced to interact with each other. But what if they could choose not to interact? Rather than attempting to cooperate and risking being taken advantage of, a person could fend for herself. In other words, she could sever her connections to others in the network. Hauert called the people who adopt this strategy "loners."

Using some beautiful mathematics, Hauert and his colleagues showed that in a world full of loners it is easy for cooperation to evolve because there are no people to take advantage of the cooperators that appear. The loners fend for themselves, and the cooperators form networks with other cooperators. Soon, the cooperators take over the population because they always do better together than the loners. But once the world is full of cooperators, it is very easy for free riders to evolve and enjoy the fruits of cooperation without contributing (like parasites). As the free riders become the dominant type in the population, there is no one left for them to take advantage of; then, the loners once again take over -- because they want nothing to do, as it were, with those bastards. In short, cooperating can emerge because we can do more together than we can apart. But because of the free-rider problem, coop ~ Nicholas A. Christakis
Flagellated Parasites quotes by Nicholas A. Christakis
The parasites live where the great have little secret sores. ~ Friedrich Nietzsche
Flagellated Parasites quotes by Friedrich Nietzsche
As with mosquitoes, horseflies, and most bloodsucking parasites, Kenneth Starr was spawned in stagnant water. ~ James Carville
Flagellated Parasites quotes by James Carville
Survive
...
Some women survive
by creating walls,
big walls guarding their hearts
and you say
"let them in"
but
she has been covered in regrets,
crawled on all fours for her salvation.
Dont curse them
for when her attacker came
there she was, loving, now
she has built her walls
brick by brick
guarding against parasites
Don't blame her
Some women are broken,
not ready to be healed,
some women are broken
not ready for love
and that's all right.
Let her find herself
Let her become her own sun
Let her ~ Ijeoma Umebinyuo
Flagellated Parasites quotes by Ijeoma Umebinyuo
Achievers must not be penalized or parasites rewarded if we aspire to a healthy, productive, and ethical society. ~ William E. Simon
