There aren't any rules to running away from your problems. No checklist of things to cross off. No instructions. Eeny, meeny, pick a path and go. That's how my dad does it anyway because apparently there's no age limit to running away, either. He wakes up one day, packs the car with everything we own, and we hit the road. Watch all the pretty colors go by until he finds a town harmless enough to hide in. But his problems always find us. Sometimes quicker than others. Sometimes one month and sometimes six. There's no rule when it comes to that, either. Not about how long it takes for the problems to catch up with us. Just that they will - that much is a given. And then it's time to run again to a new town, a new home, and a new school for me.

But if there aren't any rules, I wonder why it feels the same every time. Feels like I leave behind a little bit of who I was in each house we've left empty. Scattering pieces of me in towns all over the place. A trail of crumbs dotting the map from everywhere we've left to everywhere we go. And they don't make any pictures when I connect dots. They are random like the stars littering the sky at night. ~ Brian James
Connect Dots quotes by Brian James
We should use discernment to connect dots, avoid traps, and make wise judgments without becoming too judgmental, suspicious, and faultfinders. ~ Assegid Habtewold
Connect Dots quotes by Assegid Habtewold
(He remembered resting against her afterward, listening to the beat of her heart, taking her breath into his lungs, and thinking that he was the luckiest man in the world, that you couldn't connect with a human being any more perfectly than that. And sure enough, he'd been right.) ~ Beatriz Williams
Connect Dots quotes by Beatriz Williams
Some designers are so airy-fairy people can't connect with them. I hope people can relate to me, to a normal person who just happens to be a fashion designer, that people can take me as they find me. It's not the designer's job to care about what people think. Whatever else I've done, I've never tried to be something that I'm not. ~ Alexander McQueen
Connect Dots quotes by Alexander McQueen
The next time something happens to your car, make a note as to what you feel the broken part represents and see if you can connect it to how you are feeling at that particular moment. You may be surprised at the results. One day I will write a little book and call it Heal Your Automobile. ~ Louise L. Hay
Connect Dots quotes by Louise L. Hay
If you look at your average contemporary person, the potential for tragedy is immense. The people and things we love and value are strewn across the globe. Any number of health disasters can befall you or them.
The truth is depressing. We are going to die, most likely after illness; all our friends will likewise die; we are tiny insignificant dots on a tiny planet. Perhaps with the advent of broad intelligence and foresight comes the need for confabulation and self-deception to keep depression and its consequent lethargy at bay. There needs to be a basic denial of our finitude and insignificance in the larger scene. It takes a certain amount of chutzpah just to get out of bed in the morning. ~ William Hirstein
Connect Dots quotes by William Hirstein
It only take like minds to connect or the words of the wise to sound Gibberish to the foolish. ~ Melfie Ngwenya
Connect Dots quotes by Melfie Ngwenya
Free will means that you have the choice to connect to spirit ... or not. ~ Wayne Dyer
Connect Dots quotes by Wayne Dyer
Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread within it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together. All things connect. ~ Chief Seattle
Connect Dots quotes by Chief Seattle
Why do we read with greed? (Or play, or design, etc.?) We want to fill our minds with knowledge the way others want to fill their bellies with food. Information replaces confusion, which many of us experience in interactions with others. It is a place to focus, apart from all the external stimuli in our homes, schools, shops, etc. It is completely within our control how much we want to let in, unlike dealing with people, who are unpredictable and uncontrollable. (Even those of us who are in our own bubble, who don't read or seem to look outward much, may have a rich internal world and not yet have such a need to connect.) ~ Rudy Simone
Connect Dots quotes by Rudy Simone
Every telecomm company is as big a corporate welfare bum as you could ask for. Try to imagine what it would cost at market rates to go around to every house in every town in every country and pay for the right to block traffic and dig up roads and erect poles and string wires and pierce every home with cabling. The regulatory fiat that allows these companies to get their networks up and running is worth hundreds of billions, if not trillions, of dollars.
If phone companies want to operate in the "free market," then let them: the FCC could give them 60 days to get all their rotten copper out of our dirt, or we'll buy it from them at the going scrappage rates. Then, let's hold an auction for the right to be the next big telecomm company, on one condition: in exchange for using the public's rights-of-way, you have to agree to connect us to the people we want to talk to, and vice-versa, as quickly and efficiently as you can. ~ Cory Doctorow
Connect Dots quotes by Cory Doctorow
With regard to the youth vote we should encourage them to partake in the process, making more use of our education system to show the role Government plays in their lives, but also utilise the youth media they relate to to better connect them to our message. ~ Adam Rickitt
Connect Dots quotes by Adam Rickitt
It's funny because being comedic and happy and lighthearted is who I am as a person, so they're easier emotions for me to connect with. ~ Lindsay Lohan
Connect Dots quotes by Lindsay Lohan
We long to connect, all of us. We long to be noticed, to be cared for, to matter. Generosity is the invisible salve on our wound of loneliness, one that benefits both sides, over and over again. ~ Seth Godin
Connect Dots quotes by Seth Godin
Romance is one of the sacred temples that dot the landscape of life. ~ Marianne Williamson
Connect Dots quotes by Marianne Williamson
Find an emotional tether. Someone you trusted before and someone you can trust now. A person who can connect you to your past but can pilot you into the future. Someone who can pull you back from the ledge when you find it and from the dark when it finds you. Find that person, hold on tight, and don't let go. ~ Nicole Williams
Connect Dots quotes by Nicole Williams
Over the last decades, the travel industry and media have unwittingly teamed up to create the gap this book aspires to fill. I read a lot of travel sections, travel sites, and travel magazines, and I realized one day I was getting punch-drunk on how fantastic everything was. There s just so much Escape, Undiscovered, Quaint, Top 10 Most Amazing . . . , Secret Beaches, Incredible Islands, Savvy, Frugal, Best Ever. These adjectives just don t connect with most of my experiences on the road life, misadventure, and a dose of Murphy s Law often get in the way. ~ Doug Lansky
Connect Dots quotes by Doug Lansky
As a fan, I connect with realness. Whether it's strong or vulnerable, if it's real, I can connect with it. ~ Kelsea Ballerini
Connect Dots quotes by Kelsea Ballerini
These are among the people I've tried to know twice, the second time in memory and language. Through them, myself. They are what I've become, in ways I don't understand but which I believe will accrue to a rounded truth, a second life for me as well as them.

Cracking jokes in the mandatory American manner of people self-concious about death. This is the humor of violent surprise.

How do you connect things? Learn their names.

It was a strange conversation, full of hedged remarks and obscure undercurrents, perfect in its way.

I was not a happy runner. I did it to stay interested in my body, to stay informed, and to set up clear lines of endeavor, a standard to meet, a limit to stay within. I was just enough of a puritan to think there must be some virtue in rigorous things, although I was careful not to overdo it.
I never wore the clothes. the shorts, tank top, high socks. Just running shoes and a lightweight shirt and jeans. I ran disguised as an ordinary person.

-When are you two going to have children?
-We're our own children.

In novels lately the only real love, the unconditional love I ever come across is what people feel for animals. Dolphins, bears, wolves, canaries.

I would avoid people, stop drinking.

There was a beggar with a Panasonic.

This is what love comes down to, things that happen and what we say about them.

But nothing mattered so much on thi ~ Don DeLillo
Connect Dots quotes by Don DeLillo
For me writing and acting all comes out of the same place, a compulsion to review and connect to something. For me they are more similar than different. ~ Aleksa Palladino
Connect Dots quotes by Aleksa Palladino
My thing is that if you don't really connect to something or see that it's going to be something you're going to be proud of, I wouldn't do it. ~ Condola Rashad
Connect Dots quotes by Condola Rashad
Social media presents an opportunity for business people to connect and know each other prior to a phone call or email taking place. ~ Jeffrey Gitomer
Connect Dots quotes by Jeffrey Gitomer
I used to enjoy using dots where they would be least expected, not at the end of a sentence but in the middle, creating the effect ... of a skipped beat. It seemed to me the mind reacted - first! ... in dots, dashes, and exclamation points, then rationalized, drew up a brief, with periods. ~ Tom Wolfe
Connect Dots quotes by Tom Wolfe
Accepting what others see as your strengths is crucial to your continued growth. Compliments are a gift. They are an opportunity for you and another person to connect in a powerful, positive way. How did you handle the last compliment directed at you? Did you accept it? ~ Rhonda Britten
Connect Dots quotes by Rhonda Britten
Art, in the first place, has to connect with yourself. ~ Andrew Brown
Connect Dots quotes by Andrew Brown
I think the way Win Butler writes, I really identify with it. He writes very emotionally and very cinematically, and I just connect with his sensibility. ~ Spike Jonze
Connect Dots quotes by Spike Jonze
I had to first convince them [prostitutes] that I wasn't a journalist who would yet again put out a notion about them they wouldn't necessarily care for or who would victimize them. You know, journalists come and go. If they come twice, it's a lot. But I come 10 times and hang out with them and share stuff. If you connect with someone just once, that's something. But if you can connect twice, that's something else. ~ Michael Glawogger
Connect Dots quotes by Michael Glawogger
In spite of everything I love you, and will go on loving you–on my knees, with my shoulders drawn back, showing my heels to the headsman and straining my goose neck–even then. And afterwards–perhaps most of all afterwards–I shall love you, and one day we shall have a real, all-embracing explanation, and then perhaps we shall somehow fit together, you and I… we shall connect the points… and you and I shall form that unique design for which I yearn. ~ Vladimir Nabokov
Connect Dots quotes by Vladimir Nabokov
Some sermons are like "a bridge to nowhere." They are grounded in solid study of the biblical text but never come down to earth on the other side. That is, they fail to connect the biblical truth to people's hearts and the issues of their lives. Other sermons are like bridges from nowhere. They reflect on contemporary issues, but the insights they bring to bear on modern problems and felt needs don't actually arise out of the biblical text. Proper contextualization is the act of bringing sound biblical doctrine all the way over the bridge by reexpressing it in terms coherent to a particular culture. ~ Timothy J. Keller
Connect Dots quotes by Timothy J. Keller
I had a dream where Cal told me he could see the world from above,' I tell Henry. 'He said the seconds were pouring off people, tiny glowing dots pouring from their skins, only no one could see them.'

'Beautiful dream,' Henry says.

'Is it? Wouldn't it be better if the seconds were adding up? Do we have a set amount of seconds to live when we're born or an unknowable number?'

'An unknowable number,' Henry says.

'How do you know?'

'I don't. I believe.' He rolls over and looks at me. 'I believe I am adding up to something. ~ Cath Crowley
Connect Dots quotes by Cath Crowley
Love usually transcends the limits of our physical existence to connect us with the beauty of life all around - Ashutosh (Page 10) ~ Shashi
Connect Dots quotes by Shashi
In Chloe, a great city, the people who move through the streets are all strangers. At each encounter, they imagine a thousand things about one another; meetings which could take place between them, conversations, surprises, caresses, bites. But no one greets anyone; eyes lock for a second, then dart away, seeking other eyes, never stopping.

A girl comes along, twirling a parasol on her shoulder, and twirling slightly also her rounded hips. A woman in black comes along, showing her full age, her eyes restless beneath her veil, her lips trembling. At tattooed giant comes along; a young man with white hair; a female dwarf; two girls, twins, dressed in coral. Something runs among them, an exchange of glances link lines that connect one figure with another and draws arrows, stars, triangles, until all combinations are used up in a moment, and other characters come on to the scene: a blind man with a cheetah on a leash, a courtesan with an ostrich-plume fan, an ephebe, a Fat Woman. And thus, when some people happen to find themselves together, taking shelter from the rain under an arcade, or crowding beneath an awning of the bazaar, or stopping to listen to the band in the square, meetings, seductions, copulations, orgies are consummated among them without a word exchanged, without a finger touching anything, almost without an eye raised.

A voluptuous vibration constantly stirs Chloe, the most chaste of cities. If men and women began to live their ephemeral d ~ Italo Calvino
Connect Dots quotes by Italo Calvino
Grief is real because loss is real. Each grief has its own imprint, as distinctive and as unique as the person we lost. The pain of loss is so intense, so heartbreaking, because in loving we deeply connect with another human being, and grief is the reflection of the connection that has been lost. We think we want to avoid the grief, but really it is the pain of the loss we want to avoid. Grief is the healing process that ultimately brings us comfort in our pain. ~ Elisabeth Kubler Ross
Connect Dots quotes by Elisabeth Kubler Ross
Beyond a narrow, elite audience, there is a pervasive sense from the side of the public that much contemporary art fails to connect - a failure not evident throughout centuries of earlier art. ~ John Walford
Connect Dots quotes by John Walford
Kleiber was the perfect dancer - so perfect that you could see the process. After all, dance is a process; it's a series of snapshots. Kleiber knew how to connect people to the flow, so he could stop managing people. ~ Itay Talgam
