I believe that Human Kindness, Compassion and Caring towards all life, will always prevail.
No matter how cruel the night, the dawn will break and Africa will still be here along with all its wild beauty. ~ Paul Oxton
Compassion And Suffering quotes by Paul Oxton
I began realizing it was okay to just sit with Him instead of always reading and journaling prayers or hustling off to the next bible study. It was okay to just be still. It was possible to find Him in the immense stillness, the hidden parts of my heart. He was always there in my hiddenness. ~ Natalie Brenner
Compassion And Suffering quotes by Natalie Brenner
"Great suffering has a silver-lining that we can be grateful for, because it builds up a human being and puts him or her within reach of self-knowledge." ~ Anwar Sadat
Compassion And Suffering quotes by Anwar Sadat
What Hamlet suffers from is a lack of zombies. Let us say Rosencrantz and Guildenstern show up - Ho-HO! Now you've got something that stirs the, um, something that stirs things that are stirrable. BOOM! A pack of ravenous flesh-eaters breaks open their heads and sucks out their eyeballs. No need for iambic pentameter because they are grunting, groaning annihilators of humanity with no time for meter. You're not asleep in the back of English class anymore, are you? This is what I'm talking about. Zombies. Learn it, live it, love it. ~ Libba Bray
Compassion And Suffering quotes by Libba Bray
I use the following scenario in my classes to illustrate the nature of the moral circle. Imagine, I ask my students, that your best friend just got a job waiting tables at a restaurant. To celebrate with her you arrange with friends to go to the restaurant to eat dinner on her first night. You ask to be seated in her section and look forward to surprising her and, later, leaving her a big tip. Soon your friend arrives at your table, sweating and stressed out. She is having a terrible night. Things are going badly and she is behind getting food and drinks out. So, I ask my students, what do you do? Easily and naturally the students respond, "We'd say, 'Don't worry about us. Take care of everyone else first.'" I point out to the students that this response is no great moral struggle. It's a simple and easy response. Like breathing. It is just natural to extend grace to a suffering friend. Why? Because she is inside our moral circle.

But imagine, I continue with the students, that you go out to eat tonight with some friends. And your server, whom you vaguely notice seems stressed out, performs poorly. You don't get good service. What do you do in that situation? Well, since this stranger is not a part of our moral circle, we get frustrated and angry. The server is a tool and she is not performing properly. She is inconveniencing us. So, we complain to the manager and refuse to tip. In the end, we fail to treat another human being with mercy and dignity. Why? Because i ~ Richard Beck
Compassion And Suffering quotes by Richard Beck
Debt is a mistake between lender and borrower, and both should suffer. ~ Nassim Nicholas Taleb
Compassion And Suffering quotes by Nassim Nicholas Taleb
For many, the search for Jesus is initiated from experiencing an event in life so powerful, it awakens the dragons of faith; from pain so deep, it calls on the hidden fears of the soul in an effort to survive. For others it means a serious personal life survey that ultimately forces the confrontation with the futility, anesthetics, and despair in their lives. ~ W. Scott Lineberry
Compassion And Suffering quotes by W. Scott Lineberry
The only way a society of diverse people can survive without tearing itself apart over differences in nature is by accepting that ALL people are different, and that no single one of us is more or less deserving of decent treatment, compassion, legal and ethical equality, justice, life, or love, than any other. ~ Christina Engela
Compassion And Suffering quotes by Christina Engela
I think that it is a part of growing up, learning to control our suffering. I think that when we grow up, and learn that happiness is rare, and passes quickly, we become disillusioned and hurt. And how much we suffer is a mark of how much we have been hurt by this realisation. Suffering, you see, is a kind of anger. We rage against the unfairness, the injustice of our sad and sorry lot. ~ Gregory David Roberts
Compassion And Suffering quotes by Gregory David Roberts
If there is any anxiety habit that seems particularly hard to break, it's self-criticism, but it's a habit that needs to be broken. When you use self-compassion rather than self-criticism to cope with stuff that doesn't go according to plan, you'll notice that you start making far better choices. Self-kindness creates mental space, where you can think more clearly about what problem needs to be solved, and will help give you confidence that you've got the goods to be able to solve your own problems. ~ Alice Boyes
Compassion And Suffering quotes by Alice Boyes
We put ourselves through hell and that is hell. ~ Marty Rubin
Compassion And Suffering quotes by Marty Rubin
Were we incapable of empathy – of putting ourselves in the position of others and seeing that their suffering is like our own – then ethical reasoning would lead nowhere. If emotion without reason is blind, then reason without emotion is impotent. ~ Peter Singer
Compassion And Suffering quotes by Peter Singer
What good is music? None, Gage thought, and that is the point. To the world and its states and armies and factories and leaders, music says, 'You are irrelevant'; and, arrogant and gentle as a god, to the suffering man it says only, 'Listen.' For being saved is not the point. Merciful, uncaring, it denies and breaks down all the shelters, the houses that men build for themselves, that they may see the sky. ~ Ursula K. Le Guin
Compassion And Suffering quotes by Ursula K. Le Guin
And he saw a youth approaching,
Dressed in garments green and yellow,
Coming through the purple twilight,
Through the splendor of the sunset;
Plumes of green bent o'er his forehead,
And his hair was soft and golden.
Standing at the open doorway,
Long he looked at Hiawatha,
Looked with pity and compassion
On his wasted form and features,
And, in accents like the sighing
Of the South-Wind in the tree-tops,
Said he, "O my Hiawatha!
All your prayers are heard in heaven,
For you pray not like the others,
Not for greater skill in hunting,
Not for greater craft in fishing,
Not for triumph in the battle,
Nor renown among the warriors,
But for profit of the people,
For advantage of the nations.
"From the Master of Life descending,
I, the friend of man, Mondamin,
Come to warn you and instruct you,
How by struggle and by labor
You shall gain what you have prayed for.
Rise up from your bed of branches,
Rise, O youth, and wrestle with me! ~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Compassion And Suffering quotes by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
How should anything be sacred to an advertiser?" demanded Ingleby, helping himself to four lumps of sugar. "We spend our whole time asking intimate questions of perfect strangers and it naturally blunts our finer feelings. 'Mother! Has your Child Learnt Regular Habits?' 'Are you Troubled with Fullness after Eating?' 'Are you satisfied about your Drains?' 'Are you Sure that your Toilet-Paper is Germ-free?' 'Your most Intimate Friends dare not Ask you this question.' 'Do you Suffer from Superfluous Hair?' 'Do you Like them to Look at your Hands?' 'Do you ever ask yourself about Body-Odour?' 'If anything Happened to You, would your Loved Ones be Safe?' 'Why Spend so much Time in the Kitchen?' 'You think that Carpet is Clean - but is it?' 'Are you a Martyr to Dandruff?' Upon my soul, I sometimes wonder why the long-suffering public doesn't rise up and slay us. ~ Dorothy L. Sayers
Compassion And Suffering quotes by Dorothy L. Sayers
The night that our friend's wife died, my brokenhearted husband called his mother: "What do I say?"... There is nothing to say. Stop thinking there is something to say to make it go away. It won't go away. Abandon your answers. Avoid your cliches. Don't blame God and don't blame him. Learn to sit in the sadness. ~ Sarah Bessey
Compassion And Suffering quotes by Sarah Bessey
God also allows suffering so that we might learn what it means to depend on Him, not on our own strength and resources. ~ Charles R. Swindoll
Compassion And Suffering quotes by Charles R. Swindoll
The Four Noble Truths The Dharma teaches the Buddhists the ways to progress or reach nirvana. In this light, the Dharma teaches that the journey to nirvana should involve following the Four Noble Truths referred to as Pativedhanana or the "wisdom of realization." According to the Buddha, the four truths center around the following concepts: 1) universality of suffering; 2) origin of suffering; 3) overcoming of suffering; and 4) the suppression of suffering. Compassion And Suffering quotes by Xin Yao
Conquer evil people by gentle kindness, and make zealous people wonder at your goodness. Put the lover of legality to shame by your compassion. ~ Isaac Of Nineveh
Compassion And Suffering quotes by Isaac Of Nineveh
Such words as 'God' and 'Death' and 'Suffering' and 'Eternity' are best forgotten. We have to become as simple and as wordless as the growing corn or the falling rain. We must just be. ~ Etty Hillesum
Compassion And Suffering quotes by Etty Hillesum
Something significant in me snapped when I miscarried; that something hadnt unsnapped yet. It hadn't been put back together and I was afraid it never would. I knew Jesus was with me, but my insides twirled threatening to take me down from the inside out. I knew He was with me, giving me permission to be in the broken parts of my story... ~ Natalie Brenner
Compassion And Suffering quotes by Natalie Brenner
The Code of Ethics for Nurses states that "the nurse practices with compassion and respect for the inherent dignity, worth, and uniqueness of every individual, unrestricted by considerations of social or economic status, personal attributes, or the nature of health problems ~ Beth Black
Compassion And Suffering quotes by Beth Black
Truthfully, I just try to get as much rest and drink water like a fish every day. If I don't get enough rest, exercise and water to keep my body healthy, then the voice begins to suffer and it can't repair overnight from the previous day's work. ~ Roger Craig Smith
Compassion And Suffering quotes by Roger Craig Smith
Hackberry tried to convince himself that Collins was dead, his body long ago eaten by coyotes or lost inside the bowels of the earth. Regardless, Hackberry told himself, Collins belonged in the past or the place in the collective unconscious where most demons had their origins. If evil was actually a separate and self-sustaining entity, he thought, its manifestation was in the nationalistic wars that not only produced the greatest suffering but always became lionized as patriotic events. ~ James Lee Burke
Compassion And Suffering quotes by James Lee Burke
You would not have the wisdom and knowledge you now possess were it not for the setbacks you have faced, the mistakes you have made and the suffering you have endured. ~ Robin Sharma
Compassion And Suffering quotes by Robin Sharma
Suffering is the positive element in this world, indeed it is the only link between this world and the positive. ~ Franz Kafka
Compassion And Suffering quotes by Franz Kafka
I envy these people. Wide-open suffering, their messes all hanging out. Lives boiled down to raw need--a near-holiness to it. And all of us driving our cars up and down the mountain--we'll go on forever trying to fool each other. ~ Jamie Quatro
Compassion And Suffering quotes by Jamie Quatro
When you are at unease with 'what is,' you experience suffering; when you are at ease with 'what is,' you experience peace; and when you are in love with 'what is,' you experience bliss. ~ Yogi Kanna
Compassion And Suffering quotes by Yogi Kanna
Why does a human body become deceased?
The reason is that as long as the human body is not free from suffering, mind cannot be happy.
If a man lacks enthusiasm, either his body or mind is in a deceased condition ...
Now what saps the enthusiasm in man?
If there is no enthusiasm, life becomes drudgery - a mere burden to be dragged. Nothing can be achieved if there is no enthusiasm.
The main reason for this lack of enthusiasm on the part of a man is that an individual looses the hope of getting an opportunity to elevate himself.
Hopelessness leads to lack of enthusiasm.
The mind in such cases becomes deceased ...
When is enthusiasm created?
When one breaths an atmosphere where one is sure of getting the legitimate reward for one's labor, only then one feels enriched by enthusiasm and inspiration. ~ B.R. Ambedkar
Compassion And Suffering quotes by B.R. Ambedkar
You must either conquer and rule or serve and lose, suffer or triumph, be the anvil or the hammer. ~ Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe
Compassion And Suffering quotes by Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe
The central message of the Bible is about God redeeming a humanity that is in trouble and suffering. ~ John Townsend
Compassion And Suffering quotes by John Townsend
Yet no suffering befalls whoever relinquishes justice and truth, whereas the party system has painful penalties to chastise insubordination. These ~ Simone Weil
