Once the woman decided to get free, she had also decided to stay free... The older Jo =got, the more he understood about the woman he called Ma. The more he understood that sometimes staying free required unimaginable sacrifice. ~ Yaa Gyasi
Black Strength quotes by Yaa Gyasi
I followed Jared outside and eyes the slick, black beauty parked on the curb. "What is that?" Jared sighed. "It's a Vulcan." "Weird. I thought it was a motorcycle." I smiled, but Jared didn't find the humor in my words. I put up my hand and separated my fingers into a 'V'. "Live long and…no?" I shook my head, seeing that Jared was in no mood for jokes. ~ Jamie McGuire
Black Strength quotes by Jamie McGuire
The Calvinistic system involves a positive truth: the election to eternal life by free grace, and the negative inference: the reprobation to eternal death by arbitrary justice. The former is the strength, the latter is the weakness of the system. The former is practically accepted by all true believers; the latter always has been, and always will be, repelled by the great majority of Christians. ~ Philip Schaff
Black Strength quotes by Philip Schaff
Cupping my cheeks, he exhaled a soft groan, and his lips scorched mine as he deepened the kiss until we both were breathless from its intensity. Daemon moved as close as he could with the chair between us. Gripping his arms, I held onto him, wanting him closer. The chair prevented all but our lips and hands from touching. Frustrating.
Move, I ordered restlessly.
It trembled under my foot, and then the heavy oak chair slid out from under me, dodging our leaning bodies. Unprepared for the sudden void, Daemon lurched forward, and I was unable to carry the unexpected weight. I collapsed backward, bringing Daemon along with me.
The full contact of his body, flush against mine, sent my senses into chaotic overdrive. His tongue swept over mine as his fingers splayed across my cheeks. His hand slid down my side, gripping my hip as he urged me closer. The kisses slowed and his chest rose as he drank me in.
With one last lingering exploration, he lifted his head and smiled down at me.
My heart skipped a beat as he hovered over me with an expression that tugged deep in my chest. He moved his finger back up, along my cheek, trailing an invisible path to my chin.
"I didn't move that chair, Kitten."
"I know."
"I'm assuming you didn't like where it was?"
"It was in your way," I said. My hands were still curled around his arms.
"I can see that." Daemon smoothed a fingertip over the curve of my bottom lip before taking my hand, pulling m ~ Jennifer L. Armentrout
Black Strength quotes by Jennifer L. Armentrout
The difference between being empowered and being strengthened is reliance. When that object which empowers you is removed your progress is mostly lost. Strive for the latter and independence will occur. ~ Inuk Bech Larsen
Black Strength quotes by Inuk Bech Larsen
Strength is overcome by weakness/Joy is overcome by Pain/The night is overcome by Brightness/and Love-it remains the same. ~ Tupac Shakur
Black Strength quotes by Tupac Shakur
The God's tropical ... ladies call me 'Black Fruit Punch.' ~ Ghostface Killah
Black Strength quotes by Ghostface Killah
And he saw the right evening star reflected in her eyes, and he saw the black cloud reflected in her eyes. ~ John Steinbeck
Black Strength quotes by John Steinbeck
There are no new ideas. There are only new ways of making them felt. ~ Audre Lorde
Black Strength quotes by Audre Lorde
Look at us, Lazarus, and share our joy. Is there anything stronger than love?"

And Lazarus looked. And for the rest of their life they kept on loving each other, but their passion grew gloomy and joyless, like those funeral cypresses whose roots feed on the decay of the graves and whose black summits in a still evening hour seek in vain to reach the sky. Thrown by the unknown forces of life into each other's embraces, they mingled tears with kisses, voluptuous pleasures with pain, and they felt themselves doubly slaves, obedient slaves to life, and patient servants of the silent Nothingness. Ever united, ever severed, they blazed like sparks and like sparks lost themselves in the boundless Dark. ~ Leonid Andreyev
Black Strength quotes by Leonid Andreyev
I was born in South Africa during apartheid, a system of laws that made it illegal for people to mix in South Africa. And this was obviously awkward because I grew up in a mixed family. My mother's a black woman, South African Xhosa woman ... and my father's Swiss, from Switzerland. ~ Trevor Noah
Black Strength quotes by Trevor Noah
Contrary to the belief of evolutionists, there is actually only one race - Adam's race. And Adam's race includes "black" people, "white" people - all human beings everywhere. ~ Charles Ware
Black Strength quotes by Charles Ware
It's like the specter of segregation has brought the city of Dickens back together again." I decided to give my new career as City Planner in Charge of Restoration and Segregation another six months. If things didn't work out, I could always fall back on being black. ~ Paul Beatty
Black Strength quotes by Paul Beatty
I did not pray for any relief, but I prayed for strength to suffer with courage, humility and love. ~ Brother Lawrence
Black Strength quotes by Brother Lawrence
The man who fears death will never do anything worthy of a man who is alive; but he who knows that these were the conditions drawn up for him when he was conceived will live according to this rule and at the same time, through the same strength of mind, he will ensure that none of what happens to him will come unexpectedly. ~ Seneca.
Black Strength quotes by Seneca.
You can't play pretend forever. ~ Holly Black
Black Strength quotes by Holly Black
All great people had experienced dark times and moments of doubt but they find inner strength to overcome these difficulties. Persistent determination and enthusiasm fuel the hope within their spirit to press forward for the ultimate aim of achieving the goals they have set for themselves. ~ Lailah Gifty Akita
Black Strength quotes by Lailah Gifty Akita
You have summoned me in my weakness. You must sustain me in your strength. ~ Franklin Pierce
Black Strength quotes by Franklin Pierce
Generosity is a strength, not a weakness. ~ Farshad Asl
Black Strength quotes by Farshad Asl
Other people's weakness can destroy you just as much as their strength can. Weak people are not harmless. Their weakness can be their strength. ~ Philip Roth
Black Strength quotes by Philip Roth
Commercial real estate is really a black box: its super opaque, and it's hard to get the information. ~ Jason Calacanis
Black Strength quotes by Jason Calacanis
Moses, without any mercy, breaks all bruised reeds, and quenches all smoking flax. For the law requires personal, perpetual and perfect obedience from the heart, and that under a most terrible curse, but gives no strength. It is a severe task master, like Pharaoh's, requiring the whole tale ofbricks and yet giving no straw. Christ comes with blessing after blessing, even upon those whom Moses had cursed, and with healing balm for those wounds which Moses had made. ~ Richard Sibbes
Black Strength quotes by Richard Sibbes
The 'Bird's Nest' National Stadium, which I helped to conceive, is designed to embody the Olympic spirit of 'fair competition.' It tells people that freedom is possible but needs fairness, courage and strength. ~ Ai Weiwei
Black Strength quotes by Ai Weiwei
I see the beauty in boxing. It teaches me strength physically, but mostly mentally. I had to learn my strength, because for so long I could have been tougher than I was. ~ Kelly Rowland
Black Strength quotes by Kelly Rowland
BE an accomplisher against all odds. ~ Stephanie Gilzene
Black Strength quotes by Stephanie Gilzene
When now we turn and look five miles above, there on the edge of town are five houses of prostitutes, - two of blacks and three of whites; and in one of the houses of the whites a worthless black boy was harbored too openly two years ago; so he was hanged for rape. And here, too, is the high whitewashed fence of the "stockade," as the county prison is called; the white folks say it is ever full of black criminals, - the black folks say that only colored boys are sent to jail, and they not because they are guilty, but because the State needs criminals to eke out its income by their forced labor. ~ W.E.B. Du Bois
Black Strength quotes by W.E.B. Du Bois
If we feel inwardly strong, we will have no need or desire to speak ill of others. ~ Sri Chinmoy
Black Strength quotes by Sri Chinmoy
As I never saw my father or my mother, and never saw any likeness of either of them (for their days were long before the days of photographs), my first fancies regarding what they were like, were unreasonably derived from their tombstones. The shape of the letters on my father's, gave me an odd idea that he was a square, stout, dark man, with curly black hair. From the character and turn of the inscription, "Also Georgiana Wife of the Above", I drew a childish conclusion that my mother was freckled and sickly. ~ Charles Dickens
Black Strength quotes by Charles Dickens
It's relatively easy to act nice and normal in front of a crowd, or in public. The tricky part is doing it in private. ~ Robert Black
Black Strength quotes by Robert Black
Lucien," Gavriel said, "if you're proposing a duel, I believe she gets to pick the weapon. I hope she picks me. ~ Holly Black
Black Strength quotes by Holly Black
In the process of helping others, I helped myself. In acting out of my own brokeness I became whole again. It's the kind of strength and determination you find when you have hit rock bottom and you realize you could die right now - and want to, but realize that even death won't make the difference you were hoping for. ~ Christina Engela
Black Strength quotes by Christina Engela
In bed, I steal moments of tenderness when sex has finally exhausted me to the point where I'm too bone weary to fret anymore about the enormous capacity for evil that's taken up squatter's rights inside me. I touch him, put all those things I don't say into my hands as I trace the red and black tattoos on his skin, the sharp planes and hollows of his face, bury my hands in his dark hair. He watches me in silence when I do, eyes dark, unfathomable.
I sometimes wake up to find he's pulled me close to him and is holding me, spooned into my back with his face in my hair, and those hands that don't speak like mine don't speak move over my skin and tell me I'm cherished, honored, seen. ~ Karen Marie Moning
Black Strength quotes by Karen Marie Moning
The world falling down around our ears, and what I want most is...you". He lowered his face to mine. "To take you ~ V.M. Black
Black Strength quotes by V.M. Black
When catastrophe strikes compassion and love unite. A storm can't break the spirit of love. A storm may crack your windows, tear off your roof, wreck your house, but it absolutely cannot destroy the foundation you hold within yourself. Stay strong. Stay rooted. Carry love in your heart, always, and know the sacred things in life can't be touched. ~ Melody Lee
Black Strength quotes by Melody Lee
He opened his heart to me. He wasn't afraid to show me his weakness. It was a remarkable thing, in that time, for a man to do that. That's the key thing about a strong marriage. It gives you a safe place to be yourself, entirely, even the weak parts. ~ Shilpi Somaya Gowda
Black Strength quotes by Shilpi Somaya Gowda
In the picture, Ava Gardner's tousled black hair obscured her right eye, and her full, closed lips were pulled slightly to the right, resulting in something less than a smile. They looked as if they'd been smeared shut with red paint, though the photo was in black and white. It wasn't so much a fuck-me face as a I've-been-there-and-back look, the kind of expression you see only on the most expensive whores. ~ Barry Gifford
Black Strength quotes by Barry Gifford
You should have heard the boatman who brought me up here from the Glades. Fire in the northern sky, lights in the marshes, a black dog heard barking through the night. Doesn't occur to anyone to wonder how exactly you can tell it's a black dog just from the fucking bark it makes. ~ Richard K. Morgan
Black Strength quotes by Richard K. Morgan
Clary saw him take Mark's hand; he pressed his witchlight into the boy's palm, where it flickered, and then resumed its steady glow. 'Take this with you,' said Jace, 'for it can be dark in the land under the hill, and the years very long. ~ Cassandra Clare
Black Strength quotes by Cassandra Clare
Pretending you're OK when you aren't isn't strength. ~ Robert Galbraith
