The Genius Of The Crowd

there is enough treachery, hatred violence absurdity in the average
human being to supply any given army on any given day

and the best at murder are those who preach against it
and the best at hate are those who preach love
and the best at war finally are those who preach peace

those who preach god, need god
those who preach peace do not have peace
those who preach peace do not have love

beware the preachers
beware the knowers
beware those who are always reading books
beware those who either detest poverty
or are proud of it
beware those quick to praise
for they need praise in return
beware those who are quick to censor
they are afraid of what they do not know
beware those who seek constant crowds for
they are nothing alone
beware the average man the average woman
beware their love, their love is average
seeks average

but there is genius in their hatred
there is enough genius in their hatred to kill you
to kill anybody
not wanting solitude
not understanding solitude
they will attempt to destroy anything
that differs from their own
not being able to create art
they will not understand art
they will consider their failure as creators
only as a failure of the world
not being able to love fully
they will believe your love incomplete
and then they wil ~ Charles Bukowski
Average Woman quotes by Charles Bukowski
The average woman today is almost completely out of touch with her own power. ~ Frederick Lenz
Average Woman quotes by Frederick Lenz
A mutual and satisfied sexual act is of great benefit to the average woman, the magnetism of it is health giving. When it is not desired on the part of the woman and she has no response, it should not take place. This is an act of prostitution and is degrading to the woman's finer sensibility, all the marriage certificates on earth to the contrary notwithstanding. ~ Margaret Sanger
Average Woman quotes by Margaret Sanger
Our study suggests that given the right culture, women are as competitively inclined as men, and even more so in many situations. Competitiveness, then, is not only set by evolutionary forces that dictate that men are naturally more so inclined than women. The average woman will compete more than the average man if the right cultural incentives are in place. ~ Uri Gneezy
Average Woman quotes by Uri Gneezy
There's no discounting the antagonism the average woman feels for the eldest daughter. The infuriating thing is that most mothers blame the daughters for their hatred when it's just what makes the mother pig eat her first batch of young. Of course one can't tell them that. ~ Mari Sandoz
Average Woman quotes by Mari Sandoz

Average Woman quotes by Charles Bukowski
The average woman, unless she is particularly ill-favored, regards loving and being loved as a normal part of life. If a man says he loves her she believes him. Indeed some women are convinced they are adored by men who can be seen by all to be running in the opposite direction. For homosexuals this is not so. Love and admiration have to be won against heavy odds. Any declaration of affection requires proof. So many approaches made to them are insincere - even hostile. What better proof of love can there be than money? A ten-shilling note showed incontrovertibly just how mad about you a man is. Even in the minds of some women a confusion exists between love and money if the quantity is large enough. They evade the charge of mercenariness by using the cash they extort from one man to deal a bludgeoning blow of humiliation upon another. Some homosexuals attempt this gambit, but it is risky. The giving of money is a masculine act and blurs the internal image. ~ Quentin Crisp
Average Woman quotes by Quentin Crisp
Love is Beautiful [10w]
Even an average woman becomes beautiful when she's in love. ~ Beryl Dov
Average Woman quotes by Beryl Dov
No matter how long he lives, no man ever becomes as wise as the average woman of forty-eight. ~ H.L. Mencken
Average Woman quotes by H.L. Mencken
The average woman is at the head of something with which she can do as she likes; the average man has to obey orders and do nothing else. ~ Gilbert K. Chesterton
Average Woman quotes by Gilbert K. Chesterton
But the female mind has demonstrated a capacity for all the mental acquirements and achievements of men, and as generations ensue that capacity will be expanded; the average woman will be as well educated as the average man, and then better educated, for the dormant faculties of her brain will be stimulated to an activity that will be all the more intense and powerful because of centuries of repose. Woman will ignore precedent and startle civilization with their progress. ~ Nikola Tesla
Average Woman quotes by Nikola Tesla
The average woman is far braver than the average man. The common kind of courage-that of the soldier who disregards the danger of death-belongs to the majority of men in the last resort. I mean that if it has to be exercised they exercise it without making a fuss about it. But when you come to moral courage it hardly exists at all among men. There is only one man in ten thousand who will brave the full violence of public opinion. Women, on the other hand, will often do it, if they are in love or to defend their children... The bravest men are those who have a good deal of woman about them. ~ Alfred Bruce Douglas
Average Woman quotes by Alfred Bruce Douglas
Right now I'm 185, which is really good for me yet very hard for me to maintain. My weight seems high for the average woman, but I've got big bones and I'm maintaining muscle. ~ Lisa Leslie
Average Woman quotes by Lisa Leslie
Think of your energy requirements as a bank account. You make deposits when you consume calories. You make withdrawals when your body spends energy on work. Nutritionists divide the amount of energy you withdraw each day into two parts: The energy you need when your body is at rest The energy you need to do your daily "work" To keep your energy account in balance, you need to take in enough each day to cover your withdrawals. As a general rule, infants and adolescents burn more energy per pound than adults do, because they're continually making large amounts of new tissue. Similarly, an average man burns more energy than an average woman because his body is larger and has more muscle (see the upcoming section "Sex, ~ Carol Ann Rinzler
Average Woman quotes by Carol Ann Rinzler
An average woman is in this superior to an average man - that she never instigates, only responds. ~ Thomas Hardy
Average Woman quotes by Thomas Hardy
Then she jerked back with a siren's smile that made his confidence falter. "Well." She tapped her chin. "That was a decent kiss, all things being equal." She pressed her hand to her chest. "My heart is, if not quite racing, then heading into a quick walk. But I need a thermometer to determine if and how high my body heated. I shall just go--"

"Don't you dare." He caught her by the arm as she was on the verge of fleeing. "You know bloody well that you responded to that kiss."

With a suspicious glee in her eyes, she tugged her arm from his grip. "I'm not saying I didn't respond-- just that I didn't respond to any overwhelming degree. But it was a good kiss, I suppose. Better than some, not as good as others."

"What the hell do you mean? How many chaps have you kissed in the last nine years, anyway?"

"No more than you've kissed women, I should imagine."

"My God."

"But don't worry-- I don't think the average woman would complain about your kissing. You're perfectly competent."

Competent? Bloody insolent chit. Even knowing she was trying to provoke him didn't ease his wounded pride. "Perhaps we should try again."

-Giles and Minerva ~ Sabrina Jeffries
Average Woman quotes by Sabrina Jeffries
Because of lower life expectancy in Scotland - something that we are working hard to improve - the average woman will get £11,000 less in pension payments than counterparts in the rest of the U.K., even though she will pay exactly the same in contributions. ~ Nicola Sturgeon
Average Woman quotes by Nicola Sturgeon
It is the rank and file - the average woman - for whom the world has opened up so astonishingly. ~ Mary Augusta Ward
Average Woman quotes by Mary Augusta Ward
The average woman sees only the weak points in a strong man, and the good points in a weak one. ~ Elbert Hubbard
Average Woman quotes by Elbert Hubbard
The Depression was at its peak in 1933, and so was Blondell. She exemplified the average woman of that dismal period. Audiences could relate to her honesty, her drive, and her humor and strength in the face of adversity. She came across as one of them - a down-to-earth gift she never lost. "I related to the shopgirls and chorus girls, just ordinary gals who were hoping. I would get endless fan mail from girls saying, 'That is exactly what I would have done, if I'd been in your shoes, you did exactly the right thing.' So I figured that was my popularity, relating to the girls. ~ Ray Hagen
Average Woman quotes by Ray Hagen

Average Woman quotes by Charles Bukowski
One does so hate to admit that the average woman is kinder, finer, more quick of sympathy and on the whole so much more first class than the average man. ~ Sherwood Anderson
Average Woman quotes by Sherwood Anderson
I hope the average woman feels she needs practicality but with a little bit of fantasy. Otherwise, it's just not fashion. ~ Francisco Costa
Average Woman quotes by Francisco Costa
When I was creating my Luxhair Now wig line, I was listening to what my fans were saying online because I wanted to make something that the average woman could wear to work. ~ Sherri Shepherd
Average Woman quotes by Sherri Shepherd
The average woman is a size 14 but 'plus' models start at a size six. The industry wants you to feel bad about yourself, and they succeed. I find it to be disgusting. ~ Whitney Thompson
Average Woman quotes by Whitney Thompson
In point of morals, the average woman is, even for business, too crooked. ~ Stephen Leacock
Average Woman quotes by Stephen Leacock
While much remains to be done to achieve full equality of economic opportunity-for the average woman worker earns only 60 percent of the average wage for men-this legislation is a significant step forward. ~ John F. Kennedy
Average Woman quotes by John F. Kennedy
A woman who has truly awakened to her sensuality recognizes that she requires a more sophisticated presence. She is not average, after all. ~ Lebo Grand
Average Woman quotes by Lebo Grand
You poor dear. I can hardly endure it when my brothers are staying at the town house. They're always causing some trouble or another."
"Oh, yes, and you never cause any trouble," Oliver teased. "Never mind the shooting match where you brought three men to blows over whose rifle you should deign to use. Or the spectacle you made of yourself when you dressed as a man to enter a match. Or-"
"You can shoot a rifle, Lady Celia?" Maria leaned forward. "How did you learn? I've always wanted to myself, but Papa and my cousins refused to show me how a rifle works. Could you teach me?"
"No!" Oliver and Freddy said in unison. Then Oliver added, "Absolutely not."
Lord Gabriel leaned close. "I'd be happy to teach you, Miss Butterfield."
"Stay out of this, Gabe," Oliver growled. "Bad enough you taught Celia. Maria already has enough weapons at her disposal."
His grandmother arched one eyebrow. "Pray tell, what sort of weapons do you mean?"
Oliver paused, then gave a lazy smile. "Why, her beauty, of course. That weapon is devastating enough."
"It won't stop a scoundrel from manhandling a woman," Lady Minerva put in.
"As if you know anything about that," Lord Jarret pointed out. "Just because the heroines in your books get manhandled with nauseating regularity doesn't mean the average woman does. ~ Sabrina Jeffries
Average Woman quotes by Sabrina Jeffries
The day broke gray and dull. The clouds hung heavily, and there was a rawness in the air that suggested snow. A woman servant came into a room in which a child was sleeping and drew the curtains. She glanced mechanically at the house opposite, a stucco house with a portico, and went to the child's bed. ~ W. Somerset Maugham
Average Woman quotes by W. Somerset Maugham
The most beautiful voice in the world is that of an educated Southern woman. ~ Winston Churchill
Average Woman quotes by Winston Churchill
The average politician was crooked. That was my ambition, to be a crooked politician. I'd see them in these restaurants, and they'd all hold these conferences. I'd see politicians who were supposed to be on opposite sides of issues all together at one table. ~ Jack Kirby
Average Woman quotes by Jack Kirby
Stupidity in a woman is unfeminine. ~ Friedrich Nietzsche
Average Woman quotes by Friedrich Nietzsche
You embody all of the beautiful and chaotic pieces of every person I have come across; a better version of myself, a reflection of heaven. A woman such as you is a gift that I am blessed to unwrap and discover over and over again, you reveal parts of you that I never knew existed. ~ Adrian Michael
Average Woman quotes by Adrian Michael
What is that, Shakespeare?"
"Betty Crocker, a fascinating woman. ~ Kami Garcia
Average Woman quotes by Kami Garcia
She's a strong woman, and that's more important than wearing a pretty smile for the world's sake. ~ Victoria Scott
Average Woman quotes by Victoria Scott
By nice women ... you probably mean selfish women who have no more thought for the underprivileged, overworked women than a pussycat in a sunny window for the starving kitten in the street. Now in that sense I am not a nice woman, for I do care. ~ Nellie L. McClung
Average Woman quotes by Nellie L. McClung
Dissimulation is innate in woman, and almost as much a quality of the stupid as of the clever. ~ Arthur Schopenhauer
Average Woman quotes by Arthur Schopenhauer
[Bachelors'] approach to gastronomy is basically sexual, since few of them under seventy-nine will bother to produce a good meal unless it is for a pretty woman. ~ M.F.K. Fisher
Average Woman quotes by M.F.K. Fisher
I was very proud and grateful to be the first African-American woman in the position. I thought it said a lot about our country that we had back-to-back African-American Secretaries of State, Colin Powell and then me. I also thought it said a lot about President Bush that he didn't see limits on the highest ranking diplomat in terms of color. It's a hard job, but really the best one in government. ~ Condoleezza Rice
Average Woman quotes by Condoleezza Rice
People only say I'm angry because I'm black and I'm a woman. But all sorts of people write with strong feeling, the way I do. ~ Jamaica Kincaid
Average Woman quotes by Jamaica Kincaid
We women are callow fledglings as compared with the wise old birds who manipulate the political machinery, and we still hesitate to believe that a woman can fill certain positions in public life as competently and adequately as a man. For instance, it is certain that women do not want a woman for President. Nor would they have the slightest confidence in her ability to fulfill the functions of that office. Every woman who fails in a public position confirms this, but every woman who succeeds creates confidence. ~ Eleanor Roosevelt
Average Woman quotes by Eleanor Roosevelt
Every child, woman, and man should possess license to speak or sing in his or her true voice. ~ Joyce Maynard
Average Woman quotes by Joyce Maynard
My journey has not been perfect. If it was, I wouldn't have been crafted into the woman I am today…. STRONG. BEAUTIFUL. KIND. GRATEFUL. LOVING. ~ Jennae Cecelia
Average Woman quotes by Jennae Cecelia
My fingers clutch the wooden edges of the podium. "My sister, Isabelle, was a woman of great passions," I say quietly at first. "Everything she did, she did full speed ahead, no brakes. When she was little, we worried about her constantly. She was always running away from boarding schools and convents and finishing school, sneaking out of windows and onto trains. I thought she was reckless and irresponsible and almost too beautiful to look at. And during the war, she used that against me. She told me that she was running off to Paris to have an affair, and I believed her. ~ Kristin Hannah
Average Woman quotes by Kristin Hannah
I am grown, with children of my own. But inside I am still a daughter. A daughter is a woman who remains internally dependent, who does not shape her identity and direction as a woman, but tends to accept the identity and direction projected onto her. She tends to become the image of woman that the cultural father idealizes. ~ Sue Monk Kidd
Average Woman quotes by Sue Monk Kidd
Said. Karen inhaled deeply and blew until there was no more air in her lungs and smoke filled the room but there wasn't a single candle still burning. "Never underestimate the power of a strong woman," she said breathlessly. "Amen," Hannah murmured. Kim motioned toward the bar. "Momma's choice tonight. Mexican buffet, which comes before cake." "Not for me. I'm having a slice of that cake right now. It's my birthday and I want dessert first. Momma always let me do that on my birthday when I was a little girl," Karen said. "Yes, I did, and if you want your cake first tonight, then have at it," Hannah agreed. "Well, I'm getting into those tacos," Edith said. "Y'all have to try my watermelon salsa. I hadn't made it in years, but it turned out pretty good considering that the watermelon wasn't as good as I like it to be." "What's in it?" Sue asked. ~ Carolyn Brown
Average Woman quotes by Carolyn Brown
The editorial - written by a liberated man - suggested legal and social remedies but concluded that perhaps we can begin with the ultra-radical notion that a woman is a human being. ~ Katharine Graham
Average Woman quotes by Katharine Graham
Over the years I have photographed thousands of people. I have never stopped being curious and trying to discover new worlds. I have used my camera as a mirror for my subjects as well. I remember photographing a woman in her 80s for my book, Wise Women, who told me it had been a long time since anyone had really been interested in "seeing" or photographing her. When she saw the picture, she burst into tears. She saw something in the photograph, an inner beauty and soul, she felt had long ago vanished. ~ Joyce Tenneson
Average Woman quotes by Joyce Tenneson
Although she is an angry woman, she is not one who knows what to do with the hatred that never leaves her. ~ Édouard Louis
Average Woman quotes by Édouard Louis
Part of him wanted to throw her down onto the straw and have done with it. For there was no surer way of losing desire for a woman than to take your fill of her. But he sensed that Eleni might be slow to realise that her duty was to please her sheikh in every aspect that he demanded. His mouth curved into a smile. She would soon learn. ~ Sharon Kendrick
Average Woman quotes by Sharon Kendrick
Mrs. Parks was a shy, soft spoken woman who was uncomfortable being revered as a symbol of the civil rights movement. She only hoped to inspire young people to achieve great things. ~ Jim Costa
Average Woman quotes by Jim Costa
You know, I look like a woman but I think like a man. And in this world of business, that has helped me a lot. Because by the time they think that I don't know what's goin' on, I then got the money, and gone. ~ Dolly Parton
Average Woman quotes by Dolly Parton
Scientists can routinely predict a solar eclipse, to the minute, a millennium in advance. You can go to the witch doctor to lift the spell that causes your pernicious anaemia, or you can take Vitamin B12. If you want to save your child from polio, you can pray or you can inoculate. If you're interested in the sex of your unborn child, you can consult plumb-bob danglers all you want ... but they'll be right, on average, only one time in two. If you want real accuracy ... try amniocentesis and sonograms. Try science. ~ Carl Sagan
Average Woman quotes by Carl Sagan
I am an anomaly - a woman alone, too young to be widowed and too old to be looking for a mate. I occupy that no man's land - no woman's land - between youth and old age. ~ Linda Gillard
Average Woman quotes by Linda Gillard
I just read that 81 percent of Americans are ready to vote for a woman. So it sounds like America is ready. ~ Geena Davis
Average Woman quotes by Geena Davis
It sometimes is a disadvantage to be so very guarded. If a woman conceals her affection from the object of it, she may loose the opportunity of fixing him. ~ Jane Austen
Average Woman quotes by Jane Austen
I've seen a strange woman dressed in black coming in and out of there all the time. And every so often, I hear the sound of animals screaming. ~ Ann Greyson
Average Woman quotes by Ann Greyson
I don't know what this nice guy routine is, but I know who you are and why you're here so if you think you can seduce me for whatever reason, you're out of your mind. And you better not think you can try that crap with Shea, I will claw you to ribbons."
His emerald eyes darkened until they were practically black. He leaned closer until he was inches from her ear. She tried to ignore his earthy scent but found it impossible with his hot breath against her neck. "I do want to fuck you, long and hard, but not for any other reason that I want you. For the record, I haven't been with a woman - wolf or human - in over two decades. ~ Savannah Stuart
Average Woman quotes by Savannah Stuart
A Great Rabbi stands, teaching in the marketplace. It happens that a husband finds proof that morning of his wife's adultery, and a mob carries her to the marketplace to stone her to death.

There is a familiar version of this story, but a friend of mine - a Speaker for the Dead - has told me of two other Rabbis that faced the same situation. Those are the ones I'm going to tell you.

The Rabbi walks forward and stands beside the woman. Out of respect for him the mob forbears and waits with the stones heavy in their hands. 'Is there any man here,' he says to them, 'who has not desired another man's wife, another woman's husband?'
They murmur and say, 'We all know the desire, but Rabbi none of us has acted on it.'

The Rabbi says, 'Then kneel down and give thanks that God has made you strong.' He takes the woman by the hand and leads her out of the market. Just before he lets her go, he whispers to her, 'Tell the Lord Magistrate who saved his mistress, then he'll know I am his loyal servant.'

So the woman lives because the community is too corrupt to protect itself from disorder.

Another Rabbi. Another city. He goes to her and stops the mob as in the other story and says, 'Which of you is without sin? Let him cast the first stone.'

The people are abashed, and they forget their unity of purpose in the memory of their own individual sins. 'Someday,' they think, 'I may be like this woman. And I'll hope for forgiv ~ Orson Scott Card
Average Woman quotes by Orson Scott Card
No woman kills herself for love, and rarely for shame. It is the cruelty of hope that does a woman in; for no matter how many men a woman has given herself to, she never holds her life cheap until she foolishly believed it to be valued. ~ Sheri Holman
