I don't feel sorry for myself, Beck. Lots of people have shitty parents and roaches in the cabinets and stale, raw Pop-Tarts for dinner and a TV that barely works and a dad who doesn't care when his son doesn't come home during a national disaster. The thing is, I'm lucky. I had the bookstore. ~ Caroline Kepnes
Shitty Parents quotes by Caroline Kepnes
if you're not just a little bit afraid of letting down one or both of your parents, then you must've had shitty parents. I'm not talking about paralyzing fear - paralyzing fear also means shitty parents - I'm talking about a sliver of worry, a shard of concern. Take my parents, for example. I couldn't care less what my pop thought. He was a shitty parent. ~ Penny Reid
Shitty Parents quotes by Penny Reid
I hate that I got dealt shitty parents! I hate how you make me feel like scum! I hate that you're always running away from me! And I hate that I ever fucking gave you the power to destroy me! ~ Adriana Law

Shitty Parents quotes by Graham Phillips
I think if we are actually going to accept our generation's responsibility, that's going to mean that we give our children no less retirement security than we inherited from our parents. ~ Carol Moseley Braun
Shitty Parents quotes by Carol Moseley Braun
When my mama was twenty-five she already had an old woman's hands, and I feared them. I did not know then what it was that scared me so. I've come to understand since that it was the thought of her growing old, of her dying and leaving me alone. I feared those brown spots, those wrinkles and cracks that lined her wrists, ankles, and the soft shadowed sides of her eyes. ~ Dorothy Allison
Shitty Parents quotes by Dorothy Allison
I always knew I would sing. I just didn't know if I would be successful or not. But I sang at school, I sang at parties, I sang at church. Everyone always asked me to sing. I'd be playing football with my friends, and my parents would ask me to sing for their guests. I was never very happy about that because I wanted to play football. ~ Andrea Bocelli
Shitty Parents quotes by Andrea Bocelli
I've always enjoyed acting. When we were younger, my sisters and I would put on plays for our parents. ~ Serena Williams
Shitty Parents quotes by Serena Williams
There's nothing more complicated – or fragile – than the relationship between parents and their children. It's like no other relationship there is. And no one tells you how to make it work. Either you find your way or you don't. ~ Michael Thomas Ford
Shitty Parents quotes by Michael Thomas Ford
There are all these things my mother is good for that my father isn't, and all these things my father is good for that my mother isn't, and if only they could work out their differences, or keep the dim of discord to a minimum, I could have two whole parents. ~ Elizabeth Wurtzel
Shitty Parents quotes by Elizabeth Wurtzel
I grew up thinking of myself as an American but also, because of my parents and the Iranian culture that was in our home, as an Iranian. So if there's any such thing as dual loyalty, then I have it - at least culturally. ~ Hooman Majd
Shitty Parents quotes by Hooman Majd
I think my parents did want me to go to university just in case, but neither my mum or dad went to uni, so they couldn't talk. ~ Eliza Doolittle
Shitty Parents quotes by Eliza Doolittle
I am fortunate: my parents told me the world was my oyster, when they could have said I wouldn't make it for a lot of reasons - rural, girl, small African country. So, no regrets. ~ Dambisa Moyo
Shitty Parents quotes by Dambisa Moyo
Both my parents were a tremendous influence on me. My father's influence came from - he decided well, probably before we were born that as he put it, 'I'm not going to have any kids who are country club bums.' ~ Charles Koch
Shitty Parents quotes by Charles Koch
Lifestyles and sex roles are passed from parents to children as inexorably as blue eyes or small feet. ~ Letty Cottin Pogrebin
Shitty Parents quotes by Letty Cottin Pogrebin
[My parents] worked hard all week long, and the way they celebrated and rejoiced in life was by making music on weekends. And that music was Country Music. ~ Rodney Crowell
Shitty Parents quotes by Rodney Crowell
Like a Uniform December 3 WHAT IF ANYTHING have you and I done to do battle against the great darkness of things? As parents and the children of our own parents, as wives and husbands and friends and lovers, as players of whatever parts we have chosen to play in this world, as wielders of whatever kind of power, as possessors of whatever kind of wealth, what other human selves have we sacrificed something of our own sweet selves to help and heal? "Bear fruit that befits repentance!" thunders the Baptist. "Give us grace that we may cast away the works of darkness and put upon us the armor of light," whispers the prayer we pray. Bear fruit. Put on light like a garment, like a uniform. That is the place to stop and also the place to start. It is the place to stop and think - think back, think ahead, think deep. It is the place to start and be. ~ Frederick Buechner
Shitty Parents quotes by Frederick Buechner
Remember, most parents and leaders are ... oversaturated with information. overwhelmed with responsibility. overcommitted with activity. If ~ Reggie Joiner
Shitty Parents quotes by Reggie Joiner
See what I mean? I think it's a generational thing." She turned to him, and a faint smile played at the corners of her mouth. "My mother's parents were in love. They met at a concert. My grandfather saw my grandmother across the sea of people and bam - love at first sight. He bought a rose from a vendor, walked right up to her, and asked her out. From that day forward, he brought her a rose every ~ Katie Graykowski
Shitty Parents quotes by Katie Graykowski
When they [parents and educators] talk of building self-esteem, they often resort to empty flattery rather than character-building honesty. I've heard so many people talk of a downward spiral in our educational system, and I think one key factor is that there is too much stroking and too little real feedback. ~ Randy Pausch
Shitty Parents quotes by Randy Pausch
At age three, if you have a still-growing brain, it's a human behavior. In chimps, by age three, the brain is formed over 90 percent. That's why they can cope with their environment very easily after birth - faster than us, anyway. But in humans, we continue to grow our brains. That's why we need care from our parents. ~ Zeresenay Alemseged
Shitty Parents quotes by Zeresenay Alemseged
Shiv Crew, Rune muttered, is becoming a freak show.
She and Ellis smiled at each other, as proud as new parents.
Damn right. ~ Laken Cane
Shitty Parents quotes by Laken Cane
The love of our eternal parents, Earth Mother and Sky Father, is all-embracing and will continue to provide for us, but only if we respect the earth, the sky, and the waters that mediate between them. We need to harness our science and technology to protect the domains of Papa and Wakea, not desecrate them. ~ Rubellite Kawena Johnson
Shitty Parents quotes by Rubellite Kawena Johnson
If you're a big Nirvana fan, a big Hole fan, then I understand why you would want to get to know me, but I'm not my parents. ~ Frances Bean Cobain
Shitty Parents quotes by Frances Bean Cobain
WHO IS- OR WAS- YOUR FAVORITE WRITER?

For style and consistency, I would have to say John Updike. No one else in the world writes the way that he does, and very few have enjoyed the longevity of career or employed the breadth of scope that he has. Mailer's a close second, but they are completely different animals. Bret Easton Ellis, whom I unintentionally left off of my answer to the previous question, is good as well- he creates a goodly number of inimitable situations, and his dexterity of language produces many, many killer lines- lines that belong in any literate person's lexicon. I would say the same for Jay McInerney as well. But Easton's output is spotty: every other book is crap. He did Less Than Zero, and that was fucking amazing, and then he did The Rules Of Attraction. After that, he wrote American Psycho- a brilliant but sadly misunderstood book at the time- but the follow-up, Glamorama, sucked horribly. At least, in my humble opinion. After that, I kind of lost interest. If you occasionally throw off a collection of shitty writing, it does affect your credibility when you seek to speak with your constituency about matters of life and death. Fiction is a deadly serious business, and if you're dry and out of ideas, then just fucking say so and keep working at it until you're finally writing something that it would be a crime not to let other people read. ~ Larry Mitchell
Shitty Parents quotes by Larry Mitchell
In healthy families, children discover (through being listened to) that what they have to say is important and that their experiences and ideas (and they themselves) have worth. They are encouraged to think for themselves, express opinions, and make decisions for themselves. Parents supporting them in standing on their own two feet and doing what they think is right. Trusting and gaining confidence in themselves, they develop an inner locus of control. ~ Louise Hart
Shitty Parents quotes by Louise Hart
Later, lying in bed, I wonder if Dena knows about her father. I decide that she probably does, and I imagine how I would feel if I knew that my father was unfaithful to my mother.
Then I remember Richard, and I think that marriage might not mean much to Dena. I can't really blame her: She learned about marriage from her parents, just as I did from mine. For all I know, sleeping with Richard is just Dena's way of trying not to be her mother. ~ Melissa Bank
Shitty Parents quotes by Melissa Bank
It is not difficult for an unwise mother quite unintentionally to centre the heterosexual feelings of a young son upon herself, and it is true that, if this is done, the evil consequences pointed out by Freud will probably ensue. This is, however, much less likely to occur if the mother's sexual life is satisfying to her, for in that case she will not look to her child for a type of emotional satisfaction which ought to be sought only from adults. The parental impulse in its purity is an impulse to care for the young, not to demand affection from them, and if a woman is happy in her sexual life she will abstain spontaneously from all improper demands for emotional response from her child. ~ Bertrand Russell
Shitty Parents quotes by Bertrand Russell
Not everyone is violent in a violence infected country or society. In those countries and societies many parents unknowingly teach their children hatred and violence. ~ Debasish Mridha
Shitty Parents quotes by Debasish Mridha
But parents aren't the only ones who can address stereotype threat. There's a lot that educators at all levels can do.

Dr. Steele emphasizes the role that teachers of diverse students can play in helping their students of color excel by taking an interest in them, their families, and their lives; by earning their trust; and by helping them understand that they see their potential. ~ Michele Stephenson
Shitty Parents quotes by Michele Stephenson
Liya's letter threw her parents ~ Ha Jin
Shitty Parents quotes by Ha Jin
I watch like, Steve Jobs interviews, I don't really watch TV. I stopped watching TV when I turned like ten because my parents were like, 'TV's really bad for you.' ~ Jaden Smith
Shitty Parents quotes by Jaden Smith
He [Wilhelm Reich] challenged the puritanical ideas about sexuality in our culture. In laywoman terms, Reich believed humans store emotions in our muscles. During orgasm, muscles in the body contract, then relax, thus releasing emotions. Reich asserted that all aspects of healthy human psychology are dependent on one's sexual expression.
When you cry, laugh or feel free as a bird after coming, it is partly because you just released a bunch of yucky crap that's been building up inside your body for days, months, years, possibly your entire lifetime.
...When women function like the ocean, we live happy, healthy lives. Holding on to stuff that does not serve us in our present situation creates actual, physical blockages within our bodies...which on the individual level, manifest in bitterness, stifled creativity, sexual perversion and unwillingness to trust, love and/or touch.
Collectively-when an entire society is sexually repressed-phenomena such as war, rape, racism, greed and wholesale shitty behavior are considered acceptable. ~ Inga Muscio
Shitty Parents quotes by Inga Muscio
The trimmings of wealth are not as important to me and my generation as they were to my parents' generation. ~ Ian Schrager
